The domestic automotive industry in Pakistan has witnessed a boost in unit sales. This includes sales of jeeps and light commercial vehicles as well.

According to the report by Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) , a total of 20,720 units were sold by May 2017, which is 20.5% higher than the previous sale record of 17, 052 units in May 2016.

Sales last year were slightly higher than expected as Pak-Suzuki Motor Company sold 11,100 units compared with expected 10,400 units and Indus Motor Company 4,900 units compared with expected 4,400 units,

As for Honda Atlas Cars, in May 2017 the company successfully sold 4,660 units, showing a strong growth of 86% year-on-year and 32% month-on-month.

Analysts expect the growth in sales will continue, fuelled by increased demand under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and infrastructure-related activities.
