Lahore receives its first model graveyard, Shehr-e-Khamoshan. The graveyard will offer its facilities to the residents of Lahore and to locals belonging from other cities.
The first-of-its-kind model graveyard is located at Kacha Road, Kahna. It offers services including hearse service, Janazgah services, ghusal services and mortuary services all available at one phone call.
The staff has been trained to be proper caretakers of both the graves and architecture of the graveyard. The staff also includes trained gorkuns (gravediggers), gardeners and machinery operators will carry out operations at the graveyard efficiently.The families will also receive a proper kafn (coffin) as a part of the package offered.
Sehr-e-Khamoshan’s model graveyard project costed Rs 155 million, the initiative encompasses 89 kanals of land providing grave space for approximately 8,000 graves.
