Lahore Se Aagey Movie Box-Office Report: Average Business Recorded on 1st Weekend

lahore-se-aagay-movie-poster

The highly anticipated Pakistani movie Lahore Se Aagay hit the cinema screens this Friday in all its fervor and glory. However, seems like the movie failed to deliver what it promised as LSA couldn’t reap in the numbers that were expected! According to the first-weekend box office report, Lahore Se Aagay managed to reap 3.75 crores as opposed to the capacity of approximately 9 crores.

Even though LSA beat the weekend numbers of the prequel Karachi Se Lahore, it must be noted that Karachi Se Lahore had half the number of showcases as compared to Lahore Se Aagay.

According to Box office detail.com, the film roped in around 3.75 crores over the first weekend while 9 crore was the average expectancy- this depicts a below average occupancy of 40%.

lahore-se-aagay-movie-review-lead

The movie opened to 1.2 crores (45lacs) on Friday but by Sunday, the numbers had fallen drastically in Islamabad and Lahore.  As compared to Lahore, the movie performed exceptionally well in Karachi.

The average occupancy in Lahore was merely 30% to 40% at major multiplexes such as Cinepax, Super Cinema, Cinestar. Smaller cinemas, on the other hand, witness 15%to 20% average occupants.

The overall daily business of the movie Lahore Se Aagay over the first weekend:

  • Friday: 1.21cr (45lacs)
  • Saturday: 1.35cr (80lacs)
  • Sunday: 1.15cr (75lacs)
  • Total: 3.75cr (2cr)

The numbers reveal that Lahore Se Aagay had an average trend over the Weekend and will find it hard to compete in the long run- box office numbers are likely to further fall down today. Monday.

Will the movie pick up pace in the coming weeks or will the numbers hit another hard low? Let’s wait and see how the movie fares at the box office in the coming weeks.

Until then, read the review of LSA here:

World Diabetes Day 2016: 10 Healthy Foods to Control Your Sugar Level

World Diabetes Day is observed every year on November 14. As of 2015, an estimated 7 million diabetic patients were registered in the country with the figure likely to rise this year. International Diabetic Foundation (IDF) has revealed that approximately 3.4 million people in Pakistan are unaware if they are diabetic or not.

These rising numbers can be controlled by adopting a healthy lifestyle and diabetes-friendly diet. In order to keep your sugar level in check and control your weight, you should make healthy diet choices in appropriate portion sizes.  So on this World Diabetes Day, here are 10 super foods that will help you keep your blood sugar level in the safe range.

1. Leafy Greens

veggies

Fresh, green, leafy vegetables are nutritional powerhouses packed with vitamins and minerals. Green veggies such as Spinach, Kale, Romaine lettuce, Turnip green, Swiss chard, dandelion greens are filled with magnesium which adds a nutritional punch to your blood sugar once they enter your body. Now that you know their amazing benefits, respect the green dishes on your dinner table and do not make faces.

2. Fruits

fruit

A common question that pops up when you are diagnosed with Diabetes is if you should avoid fruits. Just like vegetables, fruits too should be a part of a diabetic diet as they contain vitamins, minerals and fiber. You can have apples, kiwis, apricots, bananas, berries, pomegranates, oranges, papayas, watermelons, peaches, plums and pears in appropriate portion size. Try to eat fruits rather than drinking juices.

3. Lentils

lentils

Filled with soluble and insoluble dietary fiber, lentils can help control your blood sugar. A diet rich in legumes – including lentils – regulates blood sugar while providing steady, slow-burning energy. A study conducted to measure the impact on blood sugar and blood pressure of diabetic patients revealed that the group that consumed lentils each day saw greater drop in blood sugar and blood pressure. It indicated that a high-legume diet may also protect diabetes patients from heart diseases.

 4.Whole grains

Whole-Grains2

Whole grains such as oats, wheat germ, amaranth, teff, quinoa, brown and wild rice may help stabilize your blood sugar. Oatmeal not only controls the blood sugar, it also reduces the risk of diabetes and heart diseases.  Oats have garnered quite a reputation as a healthy breakfast ingredient so it’s wise to have it for breakfast. If you love white rice and white-flour pasta, try to replace them with whole grains like barley and brown rice.

5. Fish

fish

Diabetes experts recommend eating two servings of fish each week to protect people with diabetes and their cardiovascular health. The fatty acids in fish reduce insulin resistance and diabetes.

6. Nuts

nuts

Do you experience midnight hunger pangs? If yes, try the healthy way of snacking – eat some nuts! All kinds of nuts including almonds, walnuts and pecans can help you balance your blood sugar. ‘Good things come in small packages’ holds true for these tiny delicacies. Despite being little, nuts carry protein, unsaturated (healthy) fat, and fiber which are great for diabetes patients.

7. Seeds

seeds

If you are diabetic, seeds particularly the chia, flax, sunflower, pumpkin, hemp, and sesame can have important benefits for your body and brain. They are loaded with nutty flavor, nutrients and minerals like magnesium, protein and iron to control your blood sugar. Try to add a spoon full of seeds to your daily diet.

8. Olive oil

olive oil on wooden table

Olive oil, rich in monounsaturated fatty acids, is a win-win ingredient. Extra version olive oil not only helps in shedding pounds, it also delays the onset of diabetes. The oil extracted from olives protects and repairs the cardiovascular system. It can be used in cooking and making salads.

9. Cinnamon

Cinnamon Spoon on Light Ground

If you think only veggies, nuts, grains and fruits can help you in diabetes management, you are wrong. Cinnamon, a spice obtained from the bark also holds numerous benefits for diabetic patients. Cinnamon not only cuts cholesterol but also decreases blood sugar level to a significant level. Sprinkle a little cinnamon onto any of your favorite blood-sugar friendly recipes and reap its benefits.

10. Hummus

hummus

Prepared with mashed chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, salt and garlic, Hummus is a tasty yet healthy delight for people with diabetes. The appetizing Middle Eastern dip is a useful addition to your diabetes-friendly menu. It packs fiber and protein from chickpeas, healthy fats from tahini and natural benefits of olive oil to prevent fluctuating blood sugar levels. Enjoy it with vegetables and whole-grain crackers.

Remember, health is wealth! Watch out your menu, do some exercise and enjoy a healthy life with diabetes.

Job Security & Parents’ Welfare Top Concerns for Pakistanis: Report

According to the Nielsen Global Survey of Consumer Confidence and Spending Intentions, consumer confidence in Pakistan dropped from index 104 to 101, in the third quarter. Arslan Ashraf, Managing Director, Nielsen Arabian Peninsula and Pakistan said, “The latest findings reveal that recessionary sentiment has lessened, however, the escalation of domestic and geopolitical issues have taken its toll on consumer confidence. In spite of the current developments, consumers are still optimistic about the economy and Pakistan is amongst the 16 countries globally to reach or exceed the optimism benchmark.”

According to the report, the search for employment remains unchanged at 47% while personal finance sentiment went down by 4 points (64%) and immediate spending intentions (44%) dropped one percentage by 1 point from the previous quarter. Job security was the biggest or second biggest concern for 34% of Pakistan respondents, followed by concerns for parents’ welfare and happiness (24%), which was up 3 points from the second quarter as well as worry about work/life balance (22%) and children’s education and/or welfare (22%); both concerns showed no change from the last quarter.

CPEC Docked First Ship at Gwadar to Carry Out Chinese Consignment

The most awaited China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), project has finally started, officially. CPEC is a project between the two trade giants, China and Pakistan to bring trade and development to Asia’s largest trading dock, Gwadar Port. In order to send out its very first consignment under the label of Pak-China friendship, a ship named ‘He Lee’ docked at Gwadar port to officially start the business at the port.

The ship was docked at Gwadar Port to take a Chinese consignment and carry some 300 containers to western markets. This consignment had reached Pakistan from Kashghar and was ultimately brought to Gwadar through CPEC western route. The containers had reached the port on November 12,  and was departed the next day after the port’s inauguration ceremony.

About CPEC

The China–Pakistan Economic Corridor  (CPEC) is an under-construction economic corridor aimed to facilitate trade along with an overland route that connects Kashgar and Gwadar through the construction of the network of highways, railways, and pipelines worth nearly $51 billion. It is intended to rapidly expand and upgrade Pakistani infrastructure as well as deepen and broaden economic links between Pakistan and the People’s Republic of China. The corridor is considered to be an extension of China’s ambitious One Belt, One Road initiative, and the importance of CPEC to China is reflected by its inclusion as part of China’s 13th five-year development plan.

Pakistani officials predict that the project will result in the creation of upwards of 700,000 direct jobs between 2015–2030, and add 2 to 2.5 percentage points to the country’s annual economic growth. Were all the planned projects to be implemented, the value of those projects would be equal to all foreign direct investment in Pakistan since 1970,  and would be equivalent to 17% of Pakistan’s 2015 gross domestic product.

Infrastructure projects under the aegis of CPEC will span the length and breadth of Pakistan, and will eventually link the city of Gwadar in southwestern Pakistan to China’s northwestern autonomous region of Xinjiang via a vast network of highways and railways. Proposed infrastructure projects are worth approximately $11 billion, and will be financed by heavily-subsidized concessionary loans that will be dispersed to the Government of Pakistan by the Exim Bank of China, China Development Bank, and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China.

The Rising Trend of Using Nitrogen Gas in Car Tyres in Pakistan

NitrogenLead

In Pakistan, a new trend of using nitrogen gas to inflate car tyres is on the rise these days. Many car users have been seen filling up their vehicle tyres with nitrogen, recommended by shop owners who are promoting the use of nitrogen gas to earn more.

This is not a new phenomenon for racing cars and aircraft owners as nitrogen gas is used in their tyres. For commercial vehicles, it costs up to Rs.500 at some shops to fill up the tyres with nitrogen gas which is an additional expenditure to bear on a regular basis.

Some basic questions arising in the minds of many Pakistanis including drivers and car owners are; is the additional cost really worth it? Is use of nitrogen gas in car tyres beneficial and safe?

Mini-Car in Pakistan Real Price Revealed: Specs & Features

Nitrogen Tyre Advantages

Safe to Use on the Streets

Let’s talk about safety first; it is guaranteed that using nitrogen gas in car tyres is totally safe and does not affect the rims adversely.

Infact using nitrogen gas in car tyres is absolutely beneficial and justifies the cost. Following are some points explaining what nitrogen gas does to car tyres.

Nitrogen Gas Keeps the Tyres Cool

The tyre remains cool if the air inflated in it is dryer, as proved by research. We also know that the regular compressed air has moisture in it and it heats up the tyres when a car travels at high speed. Nitrogen keeps the tyres cooler as it contains less moisture, so if you have to travel long distance and at a high speed, you should inflate your tyres with nitrogen gas.

Benefits-of-Nitrogen-in-tyres.bransynario

Nitrogen Gas Increases Tyre Life-Span

Since nitrogen keeps the temperature of tyres low, it protects the car tyres to a large extent from wear and tear, that is caused by high temperature. Thus it increases the tyres life but does not double it, hence keeping a regular check on the tyre condition is suggested.

Nitrogen Maintains Tyre Pressure

We all know that pressure is linked with temperature and the tyre pressure changes with temperature. Tyre pressure, in the case of pumped up with normal air, increases with the rise in temperature. On the other hand, Nitrogen gas has the tendency to maintain pressure at a wide temperature range, thus it maintains the tyre pressure as compared to normal compressed air.

Honda Civic 2016 Review: Price, Specs & Features

Nitrogen Gas Leaks from Tyres Slower than Normal Air

The air in the tyres leak with time because tyres and tubes have slightly-thin porous. That’s why it’s good to check the tyre pressure regularly. Due to the chemical structure of nitrogen gas, it leaks slower in comparison to normal compressed air. Also, it is always a smart idea to rotate your tyres every 5,000 miles.

Nitrogen Gives a Better Ride at High Speed

There is no significant change in the feel when you ride your vehicles with nitrogen gas in the tyres. But when it comes to the point of travelling at high speed, nitrogen gas gives a smoother ride as it maintains temperature and pressure better than the normal air.

Other Factors

There are some other points to remember when you consider opting for nitrogen gas in tyres of your vehicle. Once you inflate your car tyres with nitrogen, you are bound to fill them with nitrogen each time as per need.

The availability and affordability are another important factors to be considered in this case, as most of Pakistanis have family cars and a majority cannot bear the Rs.500 cost at each top up. But if you have a sports car, don’t think for a second and go for this option.

10 Bollywood Celebrities in Hilarious Old TVCs of the 80s & 90s

celebrities-in-old-ads

Throwbacks are great! A trip down the memory lane every once in a while is enough to remind us that not all of us were mature, good-looking humans back in the day. We, regular folks, cringe at the idea of looking at our old videos and pictures but what about our favorite Bollwyood celebrities?

The braces and acne phase of our lives will forever haunt us. But for superstars, 20 years back meant starring in commercials they would not be proud of or even watch themselves today.

Not that they were bad actors but for the fact that Bollywood icons are so trained for our eyes that now we would just recoil at the odd clothing, makeup and the advertisement in general!

Let’s give you a throwback to some of the most popular Bollywood celebrities and their hilarious ads from the 80s and 90s. Happy watching!

1. Amir Khan in Coke

Back in the days, when buying a Coke bottle wasn’t exactly considered a luxury and young Amir Khan was establishing himself as one of Bollywood’s bad boys. Mr. perfectionist was part of this Coke ad, flaunting all his authority!

2.Amir Khan and Aishwarya Rai for Coke

Amir Khan, once again, starred in a cheesy TVC for Coca-Cola. His second appearance was alongside Aishwarya Rai in, what can now be considered as, a cliched advert idea of a boy-girl meet up.

3.Amir Khan with Ashwariya Rai and Mahima Chaudry

A boy alone at night with two extremely hot ladies? What could possibly be the story?

This time, Amir Khan starred in a Pepi  ad as a typical lone boy. Alongside him were the leading ladies of B-Town, Ashwariya Rai and Mahima Chaudry.

Forbes’ Highest Paid Celebs Include Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan & Dhoni

4.Priyanka Chopra in Dabur Vatika

Before she made a name for herself in Hollywood as Alex Parrish in Quantico, Priyanka Chopra came in Dabur Vatika’s ad for hair problems. This was before she discovered plastic surgery and became the desi girl of Bollywood. We bet you will be shocked to see the old Priyanka!

5.Shahrukh Khan in Pepsi Ad

Shah Rukh Khan, known for his typical Rahul roles, had a chance to appear with some of the big names of  India’s Cricket team. He featured as an over-excited fan of Pepsi in this funny commercial. He is shown making his way to the players’ locker room as Sachin Tendulkar while ducking Rahul Dravid and Ravi Shastri all in one.

6.Shahid Kapoor, Rani Mukherjee, Shahrukh Khan and Kajol in Pepsi

Does anyone remember  a cute, skinny boy who is now one of the hottest commodities of Bollywood ? We are talking about none other than Shahid Kapoor.

Before the hottie had ladies gushing over him left, right and center, he starred in a commercial alongside King Khan, Rani Mukherjee, and Kajol. This TVC is a must-watch as it unveils the young Kapoor shaking a leg with the three big-wigs of tinsel town.

7.Salman Khan in Limca Advert

Call him Dabangg Khan or Mr. Controversy, but ages back Salman Khan made it to the headlines for all the wrong reasons. He starred in a Limca commercial, sporting a really bad hair cut and embarrassing shorts.

8. Kajol in Pepsi Advert

Bad graphics? Check. No storyline? Check. Kajol being a boss? Check, check and check!

In this Pepsi ad, Kajol stars as a boss looking for a boy whose father supposedly changed jobs. Makes sense? Not really! But, then again, her old ads never made much sense!

9.Amitabh Bachchan in BPL Ad

A young, Amitabh Bachchan stars in this old TVC that is well beyond our comprehension, mostly because of the video quality and bad graphics.

Despite having a very visible sign that says Piccadilly Station, the advertisers claimed that the BPL ad was in fact shot in India. Well, logic precedes them and who are we to argue!

10. Saif Ali Khan, Fardeen Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Preity Zinta in Pepsi

We present you one of the earliest ads with the star power of Bollywood! Featuring Saif Ali Khan, Fardeen Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Preity Zinta, this Pepsi ad hits you right in the feels via the old age tried and tested marketing formula.

FPW2016: 5 Trends To Try out this Season

Pakistani Cinemas to Begin Showcasing Bollywood Movies Soon?

According to the latest buzz, seems like Pakistani cinemas will be showcasing Bollywood movies pretty soon! No official announcement has been made as of yet but it is apparent that the Bollywood ban has been lifted as the poster of upcoming Bollywood movie ‘Dear Zindagi’ has been made visible on Cinepax’s official website, again. Hence, in all likelihood seems like the ban is lifted.

The official poster of Dear Zindagi can be seen on the official homepage of Cinepax Cinemas and rumors are that Amir Khan’s Bollywood flick Dangal will also be unveiled soon. Does this mean the Bollywood ban in Pakistani cinemas has been suspended? Looks like it.

dear-zindagi

A ban was imposed on showcasing of Bollywood movies in the country after the controversial boycott of Pakistani artists in Bollywood by Indian Motion Pictures Producer’s Association (IMPPA),  post MNS threats. Due to the soaring tensions between both the countries, a cold war between the entertainment industries has made the Pakistani cinema owners and exhibitors some serious losses.

See what Cinepax Cinemas recently shared on their Facebook page:

[fb_embed_post href=”https://www.facebook.com/CinepaxLtd/photos/a.189766726281.166955.155449166281/10154832205426282/?type=3/” width=”550″/]

Isn’t this proof enough?

As reported by Express Tribune earlier, Indian films contributed to almost 60-70% of profit and since cinemas are now vacant with the audience not interested in viewing Pakistani and Hollywood movies, a decision to revoke the ban on Bollywood movies was taken two weeks back, but it was delayed due to the Quetta police attacks.

Pakistani Cinemas to Lift Ban on Bollywood Movies?

Seems like Pakistani flicks have failed to draw the audiences towards the cinemas. The recent release of Imran Abbass’s movie Abdullah-The Final Witness saw only an audience of  14 people in a theater of 300!

dangal-official-poster

Will an official announcement soon be made or cinema exhibitors will sneakily start showcasing Bollywood movies unofficially?

Earlier the cinema authorities had denied lifting the ban on Bollywood movies in their movie theaters.  Read  what Mohsin Yaseen of Cinepax Cinemas had to say last month?

“Officially there has been no announcement to us from the association but we will meet in a couple of days.”

Will the cold war between the two industries finally end? Let’s wait and see.

The decreased oil prices in the global market is being seen as a threat to the future of Electronic Vehicles (EVs), which emerged as the alternative when oil prices started to touch the sky. Despite oil prices making efforts to decrease bit by bit, EV models still have a prosperous future.

Here’s why electric cars can become the future of our country.

ElectricCarsInner

1. Battery Costs are Dropping Faster

The battery used in EVs makes it expensive than the gasoline cars which is one of the biggest challenges for it to enter into the mass market. Good news is that industry experts and automakers are working to cut down battery prices below $150 per kilowatt-hour in the next few years.

ElectricBattery

As per predictions, electric cars would be cost competitive in comparison with gasoline cars (purchase plus fuel costs) by 2022.

2. Longer-ranged EVs Coming out at Affordable Prices

The longer ranged electric cars can travel 200 miles on a single charge, and are being made available to showrooms by the end of this year. Chevrolet Bolt will be the first of this range electric car with expected price of around $30,000 with tax credits.

ChevyBolt

Tesla’s Model 3 and Nissan’s next generation, longer range LEAF to follow the suit of Chevrolet Bolt in next year. The longer range and affordability of EVs will create more space for these vehicles in the auto industry.

3. More Charging Stations to be Installed

A few charging stations for a higher demand works as a barrier for the wider use of EVs.

ChargingStations

Even if the sale of EVs soars high, the non-availability of charging stations to comply with the need is a utility problem for these cars. Companies like Google, Coca-Cola Walgreens, Nissan, BMW, and VW are planning to install charging stations at workplaces, apartment complexes, campuses, transit stations and other public gathering places.

4. Environment-Friendly Cars with No Carbon Pollution

EcoFriendly

EVs will be adopted by a vast majority in years to come as carbon pollution in our environment has exceeded above alarming level. Experts across the world are looking for ways to reduce this pollution and they highly recommend using EVs to protect our environment.

5. Auto industry Welcomes EVs and Increasing Competition

Even though a few car makers are not interested in manufacturing new EVs, the others are investing a huge amount to bring new EV models in the market.

The competition to stay relevant in the auto market will force all car manufacturers to produce latest, hi-tech electronic cars.  The first EV came to the market way back in 2010 and only two models in that year were launched.

ElectricCarDemandIncrease

But now over almost six years, we have more than 25 EV models today in the auto market. In the next three years, the number of EVs will cross over 50 as 16 EV models are in the pipeline for the next year.

EVs’ sales increased globally for up to 60 percent in the last year and according to predictions, will account for 35 percent of new car sales globally by 2040. EV’s sales grew up to 9 percent as compared to the last year figures, in the first two months this year.

But then again, trends are always changing, there is no telling when an automobile will come and sweep the lime-lights away from every other car.

5 Ideas Pakistani Agencies Should Consider DEAD

Pakistani Agencies

Business is as complex as the people we conduct it with. As a marketing major many things were simplified for us when we used to take classes;

“Brands work but its best for the company to have a house rather than a branded one.”

“Own a color!!!”

“Deliver value for money…Delight the customer.”

“Customer is King”

Yet it gets really bizarre the minute a customer actually walks towards a shelf, actually picks a product and then purchases it. This whole process has complexities that are beyond the realms of our knowledge.

A vast majority of Pakistanis have begun to realize that we, the customers have a mind of our own and can’t be cajoled into buying products just because the advertisers tell us to do so.

Hence we see regular package changes upon periodic re-launches of local Masala brands, emergence of BTL activities involving more than schools and so on.

With transition comes noise; a recent ad campaign by a local bread giant has forced me to come up with a list of things that perhaps our agencies need to reconsider when pitching ideas because we are not as shallow as shown by the graphs in their research.

1. Not everything is meant to carry IRON, Zinc and proteins

Pakistani Agencies 1

There is a limit to this health appeal that can be carried by products. You cannot expect me to believe that a certain brand of bread carries vitamins, calcium and proteins all of sudden. I will simply not buy the idea let alone the bread based on that idea.

Yes, food does equal nutrition and on paper it sounds great but that is limited to a certain extent. Ok so its Dawn bread I am talking about. It is great to see a veteran waking up and talking steps to be better. With one “wholemeal bread” product already in that line line why pitch a re-launch based on this?

Then the Zinc and Vitamin water companies. All I can say to them is…tough luck guys but I don’t think Pakistanis would like to buy the idea that much.

These are niche products but don’t you think that the segment you are trying to capture will have enough awareness to dismiss your claims?

2. Breaking Rules & Using Slang is NOT Fun

Pakistani Agencies 2

It is suddenly cool to beat teachers up. Ok I am exaggerating a bit but this is the only step that is left to be shown by many companies targeting children. The language used in many ads doesn’t set a great precedent either.

Overall the appeal for Pakistani kids in most of the ads targeted is; with me you will be able to break free, no need for school or anything you are amazing just the way you are. As a parent I do not want my child to think that way.

Even the Safeguard, Dettol and Lifebuoy campaigns at the onset seem constructive but the language and the Indian songs leave lasting effects. If a kid wants to watch something repeatedly then everything has to be carefully tailored even the dance moves of the characters.

3. Everybody Loves Bollywood but we’d Rather Trust a Pakistani Face

Pakistani Agencies 5

I am sure that I speak for the silent majority out there but it is certainly degrading when an Indian tells me to use Pakistan’s no.1 smartphone brand.

The patriot inside me feels disappointed to see the Indian version of an ad being played for Pakistani market. It is even more disappointing to see Indian faces on local billboards. Sure, we have a lot in common and we love their movies but our culture and looks cannot be standardized all the time.

4. Not All Products Belong to a Slice of Life Approach

Pakistani Agencies 3

There should be a difference between National foods and Cadbury ads. The same concept of people dancing for no reason cannot be adopted for everything.

One hit Ramadan campaign with a slice of life approach doesn’t mean you can copy paste the entire thing for your spice range.

Yes, you might have hit the jackpot with one creative ad and the client might be happy for once but ceaselessly repeating the same concept for every product only make it looks like a run of the mill idea with tons of money backng it up.

5. Not all women in Pakistan aim for ‘Gori Rangat’ (Fair Skin) and not all men fall for that!

Pakistani Agencies 6

A lot has been said about the role of women in advertising but little has been done so far. Dear fairness creams/soaps ad makers, not all women in Pakistan aim for gori rangat and not all men fell for that!

The idea of Zubaida Aapa turning the whole nation white still shocks me but it is even worse to see multinational brands play by the books, only to reinstate the role of Pakistani women as the weaker sex.

When was the last time a Pakistani ad actually showed a girl working in a factory or an office? Why do all women in Lawn ads have to be super slim models? Why can’t we show an actual plus size, average height, school teacher wearing the latest lawn print – Isn’t she the one who is going to buy it eventually?

All aforementioned point might sound judgmental but I’m still an optimist at heart.

I believe all ideas are part of our evolution; there are many great ads that melt the heart and actually coax us to buy products. The launch of Olpers, the re-vamped Shan Masalas or even the re-packaged Dawn bread all hold promise that actual consumers matter!

Lahore Se Aagey Movie: Why the Sequel of Karachi Se Lahore Will be Bigger & Better!

lead-cast-and-director-of-lahore-se-aagay-lead

While Hollywood and Bollywood have unveiled remarkable road trip movies over the years, Pakistan’s cinema industry still needs to raise its game in the genre. However, there is one man in the nation who is thrilled by the idea of films and open road trips- and that is, the one and only revolutionary director, Wajahat Rauf.

The first to experiment in this area, Rauf takes the credit of giving Pakistani cinema its avant-garde road trip film, Karachi Se Lahore. The rom-com featured gorgeous starlet Ayesha Omar and Shehzad Sheikh and the slapstick and humorous ‘Moti’- the rising star, Yasir Hussain.

lahore-se-aagay-movie-poster

While Karachi Se Lahore fared fine at the box-office, it lacked the much-needed punch of an adventurous road trip tale. Not admitting defeat, Wajahat Rauf returned with its sequel- Lahore Se Aagey and vowed a much bigger and better flick!

With an exciting plot, an entertaining script and a more powerful lead pair of an ‘odd couple’ Saba Qamar and Yasir Hussain, Lahore Se Aagey is all set to hit the theaters on 11 November 2016.

However, it has been observed that film sequels often compromise on quality and entertainment. Will it be the same for Lahore Se Aagay?

lead-cast-and-director-of-lahore-se-aagay-lead

We met the cast and director of the movie to get answers to all the burning questions in our minds. In an exclusive interview with Brandsynario, team Lahore Sey Aagey revealed that the  sequel will be bigger, better and wittier than its prequel.

Read all what they said here.

1. Winning Plot Supported By a Talented Actress

While we all saw Saba Qamar in her cameo role in Manto, we are more excited to see her as a rock star in Lahore Se Aagey. Her killer looks in the movie have wowed us and we are already aware of her phenomenal acting skills, owing to some stellar T.V dramas.

saba-qamar

While Yasir Hussain returns in the sequel as the lead hero, Wajahat opted to change the leading lady for the story. We all know that Saba is a complete package for a heroin in any movie and the director was looking for just that in his cinematic road-trip.

Watch what Wajahat Rauf had to say about casting Saba Qamar in Lahore Se Aagey here.

2. A Mistake is the Best Teacher

Karachi Se Lahore had great potential of being a visual treat for Pakistani cinema-goers. However, it failed to work its magic on the silver screen. The acting, cinematography, sets, and costumes could have been more impressive. Seems like Wajahat Rauf learned from his earlier blunders. He revamped the cast along with the plot to make sure Lahore Se Aagey takes over the cinemas of Pakistan, unlike its predecessor.

See for yourself what Wajahat Rauf had to say here.

3. No Over-branding

If you have seen Karachi Se Lahore, you would definitely remember brands popping up left, right and center in the movie. From bank promotions to ice cream overdoses, the multitude of obvious product placements became pretty annoying for the viewers.

karachi-se-lahroe

Much to our glee, Rauf realized the dangers of overbranding in the film. He divulged that while the prequel appeared guilty of quite apparent over-branding, Lahore Se Aagey will not have ‘in your face’ labels, or brands pointing directly towards the camera.

4. Visual Masterpiece

Lahore Se Aagay is expected to be greener and visually more appealing The movie has been shot in the Northern Areas of Pakistan, mostly in Swat-unlike Karachi Se Lahore that was shot in plains and in between mountains.

lahore-se-aagay-visual

With better and enhanced cinematography, the movie is bound to be a visual masterpiece!

visual-lahore-se-aagay

5. Fresh Story wth Better Actors

As Wajahat Rauf unintentionally divulged, he clearly implied of casting better actors in the sequel, Lahore Se Aagay. “One thing that I have learned from the previous movie is that weak actors should never be cast.” Who was he implying to? Ayesha Omar or Shehzad Sheikh? We’ll never know!

saba-qamar-and-yasir-hussain-in-lahore-se-aagay

But we do know that in comparison with Ayesha and Shehzad, Saba Qamar and Yasir Hussain are both amazing actors and the on-screen chemistry will definitely make it all the more fun to watch! In addition to that, the script is stronger and funnier with catchy punchlines that’ll leave you rolling on the floor with laughter!

6. Fun & Preppier Songs

From Saba Qamar’s sizzling avatar in Kalabaaz Dil to Yasir & Saba’s scinitllating chemistry in Zara Si Lagalo, the songs of Lahore Se Aagay have totally captivated us!

saba-qamar-and-yasir-hussain-in-kalabaaz-dil

With better lyrics, composition and amazing vocalists, the tracks in Lahore Se Agay can in no way be compared to the tracks of its prequel.

kalaabaz-dil

The Tutti Frutti magic has been notched 10 times higher in ‘Kalabaaz Dil’ with the vibrant video infused with Saba’s sensuous dance moves.

Yasir Hussain sure gave competition to Ranbir Kapoor in this one!

But guess which song from the movie is Saba Qamar’s favorite?

Did you know Saba Qamar was hospitalized during the shoot of Lahore Se Aagey? The cast dished out some of the fun and juicy inside scoops, exclusively for Brandsynario fans!

7. Not a Cliche’d Rom-Com but an ‘Odd Couple’ Love Tale

Be it Saba Qamar or Yasir Hussain or Moti & Taara, the odd couple formula always works! Every Indian, Hollywood or Pakistani rom-com follows a cliched, monotonous theme of a beautiful actress falling for a handsome looking hero or vice versa.

lahore-se-agay-odd-couple-chemistry-of-saba-qamar-and-yasir-hussain

There are very few movies that highlight the ‘odd couple’ chemistry. Two strangers who are totally opposite are stuck together on a road trip- what follows HAS to be interesting!

Watch what Saba Qamar & Wajahat Rauf have to say about the fresh take on Lahore Se Aagay.

Moti (Yasir Hussain) was the highlight of the previous movie. With his laughter provoking stammer and slapstick jokes, the actor managed to win many hearts in the first part, becoming the major reason why he was cast in a lead role in the sequel. Audiences loved Moti and with Saba Qamar added, the duo is bound to create a spark on the silver screen!

Here is a fun message from the cast & director of Lahore Se Aagay for the Brandsynario fans!

Saba Qamar’s gorgeous looks and powerful acting skills, blended with Yasir Hussain’s sharp wit have our expectations soaring high for ‘Lahore Se Aagay’. Here is to hoping that the movie will be a fulfilling dose of entertainment and fares exceptionally at the box office!

Lahore Se Aagey Movie Review: Is Saba Qamar’s Debut Movie Worth the Watch?

lahore-se-aagay-movie-review-lead

The much hyped and anticipated, Pakistan’s latest entry into the box office, Wajahat Rauf’s ‘Lahore Se Aagey’ hit the cinemas yesterday and received very mixed reviews.  Like a lot of other latest flicks unveiled to the recent Pakistani film landscape, Lahore Se Aagey (LSA) seems to be marinating in various rays of the critical spectrum.

While some moviegoers appraised the movie as a light-hearted rom-com with captivatingly spectacular visuals and a clever destruction of the 4th wall, others saw it as one of the least interesting scripts with a weak plot and clumsily put together storyline.

After much hype and fervor, Lahore Se Aagay was premiered in Karachi yesterday and let’s just say, it did not appease to the people’s high expectations of the movie. Be what may, it seems like one of the largest piles of cash was spent on a Pakistani movie this year, and it was Lahore Se Aagay.

lahors-sey-agey

Knowing that this is just another step towards improving the quality of the Pakistani cinema landscape, I’ll try my best to keep this review as lenient and positive, as possible. So keeping the spoilers to a minimum, here it goes:

THE PLOT

Our young and stuttering hero “Moti” (Yasir Hussain) has just received a letter from his rich uncle, revealing that he is on his death bed and wants to see him for the last time before he bites the dust and signs off half of his Swati property to Moti. However, as Moti makes his way to and through Lahore towards Swat, he meets a recently singled aspiring singer “Tara” (Saba Qamar) who through unfortunate events crosses, paths with him.

They both embark on an adventurous road trip, helping Moti reach Swat while in the heat of it all they realize that they were made for each other.

The star cast #sabaqamar and #yasirhussain with director #wajahatrauf love her sari @sabaqamarzaman

THE GOOD ABOUT Lahore Se Aagay

I’ll give this movie a just and fair 3 out of 10. Yes, that’s me being as lenient as I can be. Honestly there not much good in it. Me being an avid cinema goer and only spending a designated portion of my salary on movies (as a lot of you may certainly be doing too), I appreciate my ticket money being well spent and let’s just say after the experience, I wasn’t quite satisfied.

I’ll start on a brighter note here and straightforwardly applaud Mr. Yasir Hussain “Moti” for his phenomenal acting. Roping in quite the fan following from his hilarious debut in the prequel Karachi Se Lahore, the actor did a terrific job and totally lived up to his character.  I truly believed he was a stutterer and for the longest time, I genuinely believe that he was one in real life.

Lahore Se Aagey Movie Suffers the Same Fate as Karachi Se Lahore: Gets Mixed Reviews by Critics!

He was brilliant at it, and his timing, dialogue delivery, and humor were downright spontaneous!

lahore-se-aagay-2

Yasir Hussain clearly owned his character like Rowin Atkinson owned Mr. Bean, Robert Downey Jr. owns Tony Stark and Charlie Chaplin owned…well, himself of course.

Yasir here proved that acting demands more than just a pretty face, it demands becoming a character and such dedication is what I wish to see from all the new actors.

lahore-se-aagay-yasir-hussain

As far as the visual landscapes go, especially the ones from the north of Pakistan, they were truly stunning.

I particularly liked some of the scenes in the musical travel montage. Though our protagonists “Moti” and “Tara” are dancing about such exquisite archeological sites, I’m particularly impressed by the vastness and the beauty of those ancient relic sites.

visual-lahore-se-aagay

There were visual moments and scenic landscape such beautifully showcased that I was truly inspired to pack my bags and head for the magical North!

A post shared by yasir hussain (@yasir.hussain131) on

Some of the best moments from the movie were the songs I think I’ll be adding BeyFikariyaan and Kalabaaz Dil to my personal playlist (three cheers for Shiraz Uppal).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BkUmc1yQzg

THE CHAOS OF IT ALL

It has been observed that sequels often compromise on quality and entertainment and Lahore Se Aagay proves it.  The movie had all the ingredients to craft a masterpiece; a hero with a positive and gullible attitude towards life while having one of the most depressing back story, a girl with no family or friends to her name other than the hopes and dreams of becoming a musician and the typical family drama and hate that drew both of them closer to each other.

How can a movie, with all the right ingredients and a humongous budget, score so low on people’s expectations? And the irony is that the star of the movie Yasir Hussain actually wrote the script.

Beginning with the story…it was weak beyond repair but clumsily put together with duct tape. The transitions from scene to scene were rough and seemed amateur. The songs though great did not drive the plot forward but that didn’t stop the director from trying to make them seem as though that were the case.

The story had nothing to do with the locations either! The entirety of the plot could have been confined within the walls of Lahore but I guess grand locations and settings are something you need to get good sponsorship and funding in Pakistan.

saba-qamar-and-yasir-hussain-in-lahore-se-aagay

During promotions, people were assured how the movie will be bigger and better this time, breaking stereotypes, it’ll focus on the love story of an odd couple and most importantly, there will be no overbranding.

Seems like the movie failed to live up to what it promised- last year there were HBL and Cornetto and this year Bank Al Falah with their new Alfalah App, took it over in all its glory!

Lahore Se Aagay Movie Funny BTS Video Will Tickle Your Funny Bone!

The characterization of everyone except Moti was paper thin. I think Mr. Wajahat simply tried to cash in on Yasir Hussain’s much adored previous performance from their last outing (Karachi Se Lahore). Tara, (Saba Qamar), supposedly the girl with big dreams was not relatable at all.

saba-qamar

However, her scintillating dance moves to Kalabaaz Dil and a dazzling ‘rockstar’ look did overpower her acting and received quite the praise. She was giving competition to Madhuri Dixit in the song and looked regal as ever.

kalaabaz-dil

Then there were moments in the movie where the characters tried breaking the 4th wall (Deadpool style). In one instance, a man with the face painted black, posed as a tribal chief of a wild African tribe,  in the middle of a Punjab forest!! I mean where did that come from?

Jokes about the other faces of the Lollywood fraternity were quite awkward and it seems like the writers didn’t even take time out to figure the time and duration of the trip. We expected A LOT more from the movie!
