Hate the unbearable buffering you go through while streaming videos online? Fortunately, slow streaming is now going to be history! The real reason behind slow streaming is not the internet service, but the streaming provider or social media websites’ respective CDNs!

CDN, also known as Content Delivery Network, is distributed servers (networks) which play a role in delivering content and webpages to the user’s end.

CDNs are places by the publishers and other major websites through different geographical locations, depending on the number of users and the amount of data required. However, the real problem is that social media networks like Facebook, YouTube, and even Google do not use CDNs in Pakistan.

Since they do not use the network, Pakistani users are linked to the CDNs from other countries and regions, mostly from the Europe or Singapore. Since CDNs are already giving out enough data for the residents of the city/reigon/ and country, the strain of the exceeded usage then results in as slow loading and time-consuming buffering for Pakistani viewers. If the video is in HD or 720p rather than 360p, it means the video takes even longer to load.

According to ProPakistani, if your Netflix video stream quality is poor, you can try stopping and starting the stream again (using either pause then unpause or rewind several seconds and then play) and then wait 30 seconds to a minute for the quality to improve. This delay and ramp up to a higher quality stream is caused by the latency in reaching the far-end streaming server.

Possible Solution

An internet provider has stepped up to resolve this issue by working with these social media giants including names like Netflix and YouTube to place CDNs in Pakistan to end painful-buffering. Because of this service provider’s efforts, some of the CDNs have been placed, which is why lots of individuals have already started to switch their providers. This will fix the problem of overloading other CDNs and dramatically reduce the latency users experience when loading streams and improve the experience of viewing HD and 4K streams.

The report stirred an outcry from regular tetra milk consumers and has resulted in a majority of audiences questioning the brands they use about the authenticity of the product they end up with at home for daily consumption. Top milk brands have now begun responding to these claims made by the report and have rolled out campaigns to defend their names.

The brand states that the milk is ISO certified and 100% pure milk.

2 Pakistani Celebrities Granted Visa to Travel to India!

With Indian extremists continuing their volleyball of verbal attacks against Pakistani celebrities working in India, the government of the neighboring nation, on the other hand, granted visas to Sajal Ali and Adnan Siddiqui to travel to the state. The duo is all set to continue the shooting of Sri Devi starrer “Mom”.

According to a shocking report by DNA India, Mom was about to complete its shooting last year but came to a sudden halt after the political chaos between India and Pakistan.

Now the update as per the publication is that both Pakistani stars will be flying down to India next month to complete the filming.

“They [Pakistani artists] are expected to visit India next month and complete the rest of the shoot that includes a song as well,”

“If all goes well, the film should be ready and up for release by May this year.”

“Hopefully this will improve the relation between the two countries,” commented film producer Mehmood Mandviwala while speaking to reporters in Pakistan.

With tons of expectations from this year’s Mobile World Conference 2017, our expectations have massively increased, and we hope the manufacturers can surplus them with ease.

Here’s what we expect to go down at MWC 2017:

Hello Moto

We are expecting Motorola to do something big at MWC 2017! The company has scheduled an event on 26th February, and according to us the company is most likely to talk about a possible successor of the Moto G4, and some new accessories. We have a feeling that Motorola will take this year by surprise by launching a MOD or a new flagship which is about to sweep the world off its feet.

LG G6 Rumors

We are really excited and looking forward to the revealing of the LG G6. Hopefully, it will be significantly different from its predecessor, packed with lots of happening features! The handset is most likely to be a part of MWC17 and will finally come out in February. It is likely to boast a quad HD+ screen approximately 5.7-in, LG’s InTOUCH tech, consume 30% less power, could possibly be equipped with a secondary ticker display like that found on LG’s V10, 2880 x 1440 screen is meant to make using dual-screen multitasking easy.

Gold of research firm J.Gold Associates asdded; “Everyone will say, ‘We’re doing 5G trials.’ That’s all well and good to do trials, but how real is it if there’s no real standard yet?” Gold said.

Atif Aslam Saves a Girl From Being Harassed at his Concert- Watch Video

Earlier, social media had fallen in love with Atif Aslam! His respectful gesture was all over the web that the crooner saved the girl being harassed at his Saturday concert in Karachi.

Karachiites, brace yourself for another round of rain is about to hit the city! According to MET reports, there is a probability of light rain on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Seems like a fresh bout of wintery winds is about to hit Baluchistan which will consequently lead to more cold weather and rainfall in various parts of the country.

According to Met Director, Abdul Rasheed, coastal areas of Sindh and Baluchistan are likely to receive rain after January 25.

What is more, cold and dry climate is expected in most parts of Pakistan.

In another news, it is revealed that Met office has warned that the intensity of rain will be more aggressive than last time.

National Disaster Management Authority and National Highway Authority have advised precautionary measures for those who are traveling during rain.

xXx: Return of Xander Cage Review- Deepika Padukone Steals the Spotlight in Her Hollywood Debut

For those who are not a huge fan of action movies or the violence genre in general, xXx: Return of Xander Cage will prove to be an interesting watch. The movie has been able to stand its ground as one story with no continued plots or story arches. Someone who hasn’t seen the first two installments in the franchise will enjoy it without feeling left out!

So keeping spoilers to a minimum, let’s begin!

THE PLOT

After the mysterious death of the NSA agent Augustus E. Gibbons (Sam L. Jackson) in a satellite crash, Agent Jane Marke (Toni Collette) seeks out the former xXx agent, Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) from his self-imposed exile to recover a weapon known as the Pandora’s box.

Reluctantly, Xander takes on the mission with three of his most trusted XXX agents and heads out to save the world. But as always, the mission turns out to be way more complicated than it appears. The end is surely a treat that you wouldn’t want to miss!

THE HIGHS

The movie’s cast proved to be phenomenal and diverse in their avatars, so much so that from the first scene to the last, every sight seemed straight out from a vibrant action comic. All actors seemed to be perfect in their role and so were their interpersonal dynamics.

The two female stars, Deepika Padukone as Serena Ungar and Rudy Rose as Adele Wolff stole the show. The Bollywood starlet has never been more fierce and lovable at the same time ever before. She brilliantly stood toe to toe against her Hollywood counterparts and wasn’t just a glorified exotic Indian actor on set.

Vin Diesel, as always, felt larger than life and the friction between him and Donnie Yang as Xiang (another xXx uncover agent) was pretty crackling.

The action was exhilarating and there wasn’t an overuse of the shaky camera this time which seems to be an awful standard technique among action film directors by now.

There were some highly intelligent action stunts that were pulled off and some were down right ridiculous, but every bit of them turned out to be no less than thrilling!

Nostalgia and fan service played pivotal roles in bringing out excitement in the crowd! The sensationally clever character cards before each individual characters were really enjoyable. So was the seemingly ingenious nod to his avenger’s role by Samuel L. Jackson and his unsuspected fate.

THE LOWS

In the modern era a perfect movie is a rarity, especially in the commercial movie industry. Unfortunately, xXx: The Return of the Xander Cage didn’t churn out a story line that could be deemed revolutionary or groundbreaking! The tale was the same old beaten to bits one.

It has a stale plot with a spy in retirement who joins the force reluctantly, a cybernetic weapon of mass destruction, corrupted men and women of power within the agency itself. Some moments of action clearly looked unsettling due to the CGI not being up to the mark.

Deepika, nevertheless, did a remarkable job but her dialogue delivery was quite cringe worthy. Her accent in this movie was nothing but a bubbly Indian tone and she seemed like an excited Indian college student on vacation around the world!

All in all xXx: Return of Xander Cage is a thrilling action blockbuster. For long time fans of the franchise it’s a must watch and a promise from the producers that more are on their way. For first time watchers, it’s a good enough movie to watch if you are into the whole action genre.

iflix, a video-on-demand platform which entered Pakistan and went live on 9th January now has 40,000 members on the platform already, expecting to surpass 50k this weekend (22nd January)!

Curious about how the company wishes to target a difficult market like Pakistan is what got us interested in this new entry.

Netflix, known to be a global competitor and one of the best also an online content provider made its way into the country sometime back, however, struggled to captivate the audience.

So what makes iflix different and how does it plan on giving a huge name like Netflix a tough time? Here’s what Country Manager Farees Shah had to say:

“Content consumption has moved from live to on-demand, one of the biggest changes seen by the world. The reason why Pakistan is an important market for us is because we have 36 million mobile broadband users in Pakistan.

35/4G services rolled out in the country back in July 2014, meaning that every month, this number is growing by approximately 1 million users. Meaning by 2020, we can expect this amount to grow to 50 million and even exceed it, making it a big enough market to target.”

Piracy

“The company’s mission made sure everybody has access to legal content. We as a company, our concern is not who we are competing with, but how to get the person who prefers piracy content to stop and move towards a legal on-demand content service.”

“The team is trying to fill the gap between the user and the pirated content, the reason behind piracy is maybe I want to watch a show of my own choice, at my choice of time, on a device of my choice, there are few legals ways to do that, resulting in piracy.”

Iflix Original Content?

When we hear about iflix, we think about Netflix, and even though it could not make a big footprint in Pakistan, it has some really amazing original content, which we have to admit. So, what about iflix? Is the company looking forward to its own?

The answer was yes, iflix is currently experimenting with this in other countries outside of Pakistan at the moment, for now, the goal is more towards the pre-existing content and trying to bring that to the users before getting unique content. Maybe not in 2017, but sometime around 2018-19 something can be in the pipeline.

Flat Rs 300 Rate

We asked Farees that why is iflix charging only 300 PKR, and if the company will increase this price. To this Farees responded that the amount will remain the same, unless the company introduces HD content the rates may change then.

He further added that there are two ways to earn Rs 10,000 you can either collect Rs 1,000 from 10 people or Rs 100 from 100 people. For a country like Pakistan you will consider the option which is more affordable for the consumers, the goal is still the same.

The payment process will be sent out via email when the 1-month free trial is about to end.

Local Content Library

According to the GM, the company has a content license with HUM for 50 shows, and they are in talks with others. By mid year 2017, the aim of iflix is to introduce 70-80% foreign content with Urdu subtitles for the residents.

As time goes on, the idea is to increase the local content library, while equally balancing foreign content, iflix Pakistan will sooner or later have a massive local content library for audiences of all genres, whether it be movies or TV shows.

Devices

iflix allows you to connect upto 5 devices on the same subscription, and two people can simultaneously watch whatever they like on different devices.

PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2017 to Refashion its Format!

As the Pakistan Fashion Design Council [PFDC] prepares to host their 10th consecutive season of PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week from 02 – 05 of March in Lahore, the Council introduces to the fashion industry an evolved show concept and structure.

Starting with #SFW17, the PFDC endeavors to continue to advance the pioneering platform towards an international and global standard and standing.

This season, this is being done in a twofold manner. Firstly, the Pakistan Fashion Design Council has researched, developed and now engaged globally seasoned experts from the UK to create a first of its kind production team. This team includes specialists in lighting, sound, choreography and set design.

To this end, the PFDC introduces the London-based Mustang Productions, headed by Sadia Siddiqui, who will produce PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week for 2017. Further, the Pakistan Fashion Design Council will be engaging an international diversity of models to complement Pakistan’s top and burgeoning model lineup.

PFDC also announces a structural change to the show format whereby each of the four days will be designed into a curated and edited range of either solo designer or duo designer/high street retail/lawn shows divided between two entirely separate show spaces and two independent ramps within the same venue.

This comes as a deliberate move from the Council to grow fashion week into a more exclusive and premium platform allowing fashion houses rather more independent showcases within the fashion week diaspora and to, therefore, show to more selective and dedicated audiences.

Crackdown of 2nd Hand Smartphones Begin in Karachi

Chief Minister Sindh, Murad Ali Shah has recently ordered a crackdown against the selling and buying of second-hand smartphones. The rise in mobile phone snatching over the last few months has led to this decision being taken by the CM.

Over a security review meeting that was held on Friday, Shah was informed that the peak times for mobile snatching are late in the night and early mornings when the streets are empty and markets are closed.

The CM also ordered 10000 police personnel to be deployed immediately to boost security measures in Karachi that would help curb crime and the on-going drug mafia.

Shah expressed his dissatisfaction on the security measures that were in place to stop street crimes and added that enhanced intelligence should now be used in targeted operations being carried out.

McDonald’s Golden Party Celebrates Newest Addition to Menu Real Crispy Chicken

Famous for its scrumptious burgers and fries, McDonald’s Pakistan, is a nationwide favorite. We particularly enjoy the delicious cup of hot chocolate of a chilly winter’s eve. But that isn’t the only exciting item on the menu. Recently McDonald’s Pakistan added a new variety for its customers – Real Crispy Chicken.

The new addition to the menu comes with two options, Real Crispy Chicken and Real Spicy Crispy and is available nationwide. The customer reactions have been stupendous. In a country where foodies rarely get a chance to eat real crispy chicken, this is a treat.

After receiving such a positive response, McDonald’s Pakistan celebrated the success with a Golden Party. The event was attended by celebrities and foodies with lots of good food to go around. There were those who got to try out the real crispy chicken for the first time. And there were those too who came just to have the delicious item again. Both agreed that the newest addition to the menu was as juicy and tender as promised.

The event hosted by Anoushey Ashraf, started off with a very well-choreographed chicken dance performance, the music of which was extremely catchy and made everyone at the event groove. After the performance, the guests couldn’t help join in and danced along to the beat.

The event was attended by celebrities such as Sumbul Iqbal, Sara Khan, Shamoon Abbasi, Omer Shehzad, Saima Azher, Asif Rehman, Kiran Khan, Zainab Raja, Mariyam Khalif, Tipu Sharif, Muzna Ebrahim, Ghana Ali, Faheem Abbas and Nausheen Shah.

Mr. Jamil Mughal, Director Marketing and Development, McDonald’s Pakistan then said a few words, over the success of the new item and took questions from the guests. Questions like is the item a permanent addition to the menu and the secret behind the juiciness of the chicken were raised. Finally, a grand dinner was served for the guests of the night.

The photo booth was also a great attraction. All the guests, celebrities and bloggers alike were seen having fun around it, with cute little props to get their picture taken.

The newest TVC for Real Crispy Chicken was also unveiled and the guests were the first to see it before it going on the air.

After Dubsmash, Snapchat and Prisma, it’s the 2008 Chinese application ‘Meitu’ that has taken over the world by storm with its launch in the Western hemisphere. The free photo-app for iOS and Android is going viral for creating artsy pictures and adding beautifying filters to selfies.

Samsung Devices are Upgrading to Android Nougat 7.0 [View List]

Samsung has released a list of models which will soon be upgrading to Android Nougat 7.0. This updates first started when Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge received the first rolled out updates in January.

The remaining models are being expected to receive the update by the mid-year 2017. Here’s a list of devices which will receive the Android 7.0 Update;

Galaxy S6 edge+
Galaxy Note 5
Galaxy Tab A with S Pen
Galaxy Tab S2 LTE (unlocked variant)

The new update has improved features to enlighten the user’s experience, this includes faster speed, better display results, and much more. The OS first came out in August 2016 and was available for Nexus after its release.

Samsung Pass

Samsung Pass, the feature that works as a master key for website login on Samsung Internet, is now supported on the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.

Users can use their fingerprint to log into selected websites and apps with Samsung Pass. The feature will soon be expanded to support mobile banking app integration. However, the availability of some of the feature will depend upon the region and country of residence.

The above-mentioned devices will get the update for Android Nougat 7.0 in the first half of 2017 while other Samsung devices may receive it afterwards.

Google Update Now Lets You Search Offline

Ever had the need to search for something very important, but you could not get the search results because there’s no internet connectivity? Or you read a very interesting headline about Samsung’s S8 on Facebook and as soon as you tap the link, you need to tap it several more times before realising the internet connection is limited!

Fortunately for us, Google has finally felt our share of pain and misery, and they decided to help us out. In order to make sure you do not miss out on any valuable information, the tech giant has released new updates, which now allows users to save their searches offline.

This means that as soon as you are within the radius of a working connection, you will be able to go back to what you were searching for!

Shekhar Sharad, Google Search Project Manager shared this blissful news on his blog. He added;

“The Google app will work behind-the-scenes to detect when a connection is available again and deliver your search results once completed.”

However, there’s a small catch, in order to be able to use this offline search tool, you will need to use Google’s Search application and not Google Chrome. You can also see any and delete any pending queries using the new Manage searches option in the sidebar. Finally, you can opt to have a notification alert you that the search has been completed.

The update is currently rolling out to users, but if you aren’t seeing it, you can download the Google-signed APK from APKMirror.
