Imran Khan Breaks Silence Over Baba Fareed’s Shrine Visit Controversy!

PTI Chairman, Imran Khan, and his wife, Bushra Manika, have become the victims of a major controversy yet again.

A video of their visit to  Baba Fariduddin Ganj Shakar’s shrine in Pakpattan on Wednesday night went viral yesterday. The clip showed Khan and his wife paying their respects at the tomb.

The whole episode sparked a heated debate, igniting tempers and creating a social media storm!

https://youtu.be/B3_EdqElb1M

Soon after the video went viral, Twitterverse started bashing Khan for prostrating at the door of the shrine.

Ex-wife, Reham Khan too expressed her opinion on the video stating:

Popular singer and songwriter, Fakhr-e-Alam too had something to say about the video.

The uproar led to the cricket champion to come on national television to clarify his stance on the matter.

Signifying his actions as an act of respect, Imran revealed:

Sajda is only for Allah, I only kissed the floor of the mazar out of my respect for the great individual that he was, for his services to Islam. This makes you more humble and removes your ego.

He further stated:

Sufism speaks about removing the “main” the ego in an individual, people see these things superficially and declare fatwas without knowing the religion, without even knowing the facts whether it was a kiss or sajda.

The PTI Chief was seen accepting his flaws and adding how he has changed over the years.

I never claimed I was an angel all my life but the fact is that I have changed myself from the kind of person that I was 22 years ago

The power couple visited the shrine where they were met by the shrine’s custodian, Dewan Ahmed Masood Chishtiplaced flowers in front of the Bahishti Darwaza. “Kaptan Khan” was also seen distributing sweets among the locals.

Rain Emergency Declared in Karachi!

Gear up Karachiites! A rain emergency has been declared by Pakistan’s Meteorological Department (PMD) following the forecast of heavy rain showers on Friday (today).

Heavy showers with high and gusty winds are expected not just in Karachi but in other parts of the country as well.

Iqra Aziz Finally Hits Back to Haters Over Her Viral Pictures!

While widespread showers are yet to begin, rain has been reported in various areas of the metropolis like New Karachi and around Shahrah-e-Faisal.

This forecast has led to the city authorities to declare a state of emergency as a precautionary measure for the city and its residents.

What’s more, the Karachi Water and Sewerage board have readied its water drainage machine generators and cranes.

They have also instructed its field staff to remain on a 24-hour alert for in case any unfavorable situation arises.

However, despite the advanced warning issued by the Met Office as well as the Supreme Court’s order to clear all the storm-water drains in the city, the residents are still facing issues.

Reports of clogged drains due to garbage has posed a serious threat to not just the residents of those areas but also to the overall health of the citizens as well.

Storm-water drains in Khamost Colony and Teen Talwar, Clifton as well as the 28-kilometer long Gujjar Nullah still remain clogged and not restored to their original width.

FIFA World Cup 2018: Top 16 Teams Rank Ahead of the World Cup’s Knockout Stages

After 15 days of triumphs, tears and controversy, the World Cup’s group stage drew to a close on Thursday.

Here, AFP Sport ranks the 16 teams to have made it through based on their performances in Russia so far.

1. Croatia

Three wins out of three, including a thumping of Argentina, sends Croatia through top of arguably the toughest group in the draw. Fears the corruption scandal would affect the players have not materialized while Nikola Kalinic’s hint of rebellion was swiftly dealt with. Luka Modric has been arguably the player of the tournament so far.

2. Belgium

Wins over Panama and Tunisia were backed up by a victory over England and even if the latter match was played between two second-string line-ups, Belgium have hardly put a foot wrong. Romelu Lukaku and Eden Hazard are both firing and, after being rested against England, fresh. This team can go far.

3. Uruguay

Also through with maximum points, Uruguay’s advance through a kind Group A has gone rather unnoticed. Led by the imperious Diego Godin, they are yet to concede a goal in Russia and at the other end, Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani are up and running. They have three goals between them.

4. Brazil

Neymar’s histrionics have proven tedious but the striker is getting sharper with every game. As he has regained fitness, Philippe Coutinho and Paulinho have filled the void while the depth of attacking options came up trumps against Costa Rica. Marcelo’s back injury is a concern.

5. England

A young squad arrived with low expectations but a late win over Tunisia was followed by a storming 6-1 victory over Panama. Defeat to Belgium can be put down to a heavily rotated side and with Harry Kane leading the race for the Golden Boot, England are growing in confidence.

6. Sweden

Few would have expected Sweden to progress at all let alone finish top of Group F. Only Toni Kroos’ 95th-minute winner spoiled an unbeaten record and Sweden responded with an emphatic win over Mexico. What Sweden has lost in Zlatan Ibrahimovic, they appear to have gained in discipline and spirit.

7. Spain

They certainly would have taken this position when Julen Lopetegui was sacked two days before the start of the tournament but Spain has been a mixed bag. In spells, they were excellent against Portugal but defensive errors and the worrying form of David de Gea are both big asterisks. There is room for improvement.

8. Portugal

On the one hand, Ronaldo has four goals already and as Portugal proved two years ago, he can take a team a long way, particularly with a sound defense behind him. But when Ronaldo missed a penalty against Iran, they drew 1-1. If their star man has an off-day, what else have Portugal got?

9. Colombia

Had Carlos Sanchez not been sent off in the third minute of their opening defeat to Japan, Colombia might be among those considered dark horses in the knockout stage. James Rodriguez was superb against Poland but then forced off injured against Senegal. His absence would be a huge blow.

10. Mexico

A convincing defeat to Sweden has tempered expectations slightly but Mexico showed enough in their opening two games to suggest they can be a real threat. They beat Germany 1-0 but should have scored four or five while Hirving Lozano on the left has been one of the players of the tournament so far.

11. France

They remain unbeaten but, save Germany, there is no team to have disappointed more. Tactical upheaval and painfully ponderous performances suggest Didier Deschamps is still working out how to make the most of his talented squad. Is Nabil Fekir the answer? Out wide or up front? France has more questions than answers.

12. Russia

A blistering start, a strong middle and a discouraging end. After thrilling wins over Saudi Arabia and Egypt, Russia was dealt something of a reality check by Uruguay. But the hosts have proven their doubters wrong and shown they will be no pushovers, particularly in Moscow, where they play Spain next.

13. Switzerland

Controversy and the threat of suspensions could have diverted focus but Granit Xhaka and Xherdan Shaqiri escaped punishment for their politically charged celebrations against Serbia, and their goals carried Switzerland through. They did just enough but, in truth, not much more.

14. Denmark

Denmark held France to a goalless draw and Christian Eriksen is continuing to show himself as one of the finest playmakers in the world. Those are the positives. But there was also a turgid draw against Australia and a win over Peru that might well have been different had their opponents scored a penalty.

15. Japan

Japan took four points and their only win came against Colombia, who played with 10 men for 87 minutes. They then scraped through ahead of Senegal on fair play points. Perhaps it would be harsh to say Japan were lucky but a shaky defence can only last so long against better opponents.

16. Argentina

Four minutes away from going out and seemingly saddled with a coach without authority, Argentina’s progress could hardly have been bumpier. They ran out of ideas against Iceland, were outplayed by Croatia and survived only thanks to a last-gasp win over Nigeria. They are through though, and they still have Lionel Messi.

H&M Profits Pulled Down by Stock Mishaps, Declining Prices

Swedish ready-to-wear giant Hennes and Mauritz (H&M) on Thursday said profits fell in the second quarter as too much stock, triggered by logistics problems, pulled prices further down amid declining sales in key markets.

H&M’s net profit fell by 21 percent to 4.6 billion kronor (446 million euros, $515 million) from March to May, burdened by the transition of its logistics system to make the supply chain faster.

“These transitions are complicated and can result in temporary interruptions, as unfortunately occurred during the second quarter in some of our major sales markets,” H&M CEO Karl-Johan Persson said in a statement.

“Total sales for the quarter were not satisfactory, which meant that inventory levels were still too high at the end of the period,” he added.

Sales in the US, Germany and France, the company’s three largest markers, fell by 13 percent, two percent and five percent, respectively.

“Things are looking tough for H&m…Karl-Johan Persson keeps reiterating that the tide will turn but today’s report shows it’s not the case,” Joakim Bornold, an economist at Nordnet bank, told AFP.

H&M share prices fell early Thursday by 3.3 percent on the Stockholm stock exchange but later rose, reaching a rise of 3.8 percent in midsession trading.

Christopher Lyrhem, an equity strategist at the Swedish SEB bank, said some investors were covering short positions they had taken in H&M stock before the announcement, which could explain the sharp rise.

But the effect was working only in the short term, and it was not certain that “major buyers” were investing in H&M shares, he told AFP.

– ‘Could have been worse’ –

Turnover rose by 1.5 percent to 60.4 billion kronor, thanks to dynamic sales in Northern and Eastern Europe.

“The only positive thing I can highlight about today’s report is that it could have been worse,” Joakim Bornold said.

Year-on-year, inventories rose by 13 percent, a proportion the group described as “too high” and attributed to imbalances in the range of shops.

H&M said it would seek to correct this during the third quarter sales period, which would lead to additional discounts.

“The inventory is large because of fashion mishaps but also logistics and distribution problems which are more serious,” Bornold said.

“We are transitioning our logistics systems to make our supply chain even faster, more flexible and more efficient,” Persson said.

While expanding its online offering, H&M continues to open stores in new markets including Ukraine and Uruguay in 2018 and Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2019. The group has 4,801 stores worldwide.

Nordnet’s Bornold said it would be necessary to close old, unprofitable shops. In the first half of the year, 65 stores closed.

H&M remains the brand’s flagship brand and most new openings will be under this name.

The group also operates Cos, & Other Stories, Monki, Weekday and Cheap Monday stores, whose sales are growing both online and in stores.

“Everyone is wondering why they’re opening so many stores? One should ask why they’re not closing more?” Bornold said.

‘Sanju’ Biopic Spotlights Troubled Life of Bollywood’s ‘Deadly Dutt’

Suzuki Mehran Wins ‘Best Car’ Title in Pakistan!

Suzuki Mehran has been the ‘King of Roads’ for over two decades!

Not only did Suzuki introduce affordable cars to the automotive market, there is something about the Mehran which has been associated with many memories from our childhood.

Affordable & Economical

Mehran

Suzuki Mehran to Compete with United Auto Bravo Hatchback & Datsun Redi Go

In 1989, Suzuki Mehran (second generation Suzuki Alto), arrived in the local market of Pakistan priced at Rs. 90,000. At that time and over the years, it remained the most affordable car for the common man.

Having an 800cc carburetor engine and basic leaf-spring rear suspension setup, Mehran was the easiest vehicle to maintain. That’s why it ruled the hearts of many and became the perfect economical package.

Today, in the age of technological revolution, the demand for advanced technology and latest features have exceeded, which the Mehran dreadfully lacks. The fact is that Mehran has not seen any of the significant changes from the time it was launched some 27 years ago.

So far in almost three decades, the electronic fuel injection can be considered to be the only technological advancement the car has seen. Some minor amendments in exterior and interior were made though like variations of headlamps and bumpers and a radiator grill too.

However, despite it being behind in terms of technology and features, the Suzuki Mehran is still declared as ‘The Best Car’ even in 2018 based on the cost of ownership.

Suzuki Mehran Declared ‘Best Car of 2018’

According to a survey done by a local automotive website, most of the voters responded to Suzuki Mehran for being the ‘the best car in Pakistan on basis of Cost of Ownership?’. Toyota Aqua followed as ‘best-imported car in Pakistan’ based on the cost of ownership.

The survey was filled by 19,155 individuals across Pakistan. It covered all aspects of the automotive industry including driving behavior, popular cars, public spending habits and their behaviors.

Which is the most cost-efficient car according to you?

As per the reports, Imran Khan had placed flowers on the shire and offered Fateha. The traditional chaddar was also placed on Baba’s shrine.

The power couple was welcomed by Dewan Azmat Said Mohammad Chishti, PTI’s candidate for the PP-192 and his wife.

First Rwandan-Made Volkswagen Rolls off Assembly Line

The first Rwandan-made Volkswagen car rolled off the assembly line on Wednesday at the country’s first auto factory.

The small Polo hatchback vehicle was greeted by President Paul Kagame and Volkswagen South Africa boss Thomas Schafer at the $20 million (17 million euros) facility, set up following a December 2016 deal.

“Some found it hard to believe that German cars could really be built in Rwanda. Yet today, the first vehicles are rolling off the assembly line,” Kagame said.

“This facility undoubtedly represents a new chapter, in Rwanda’s journey of economic transformation,” he said.

Kagame used the event to repeat his argument in favour of domestic manufacturing over foreign imports, a stance that has got Rwanda into a mini-trade war with the United States over second-hand clothing.

Rwanda would not be a “dumping ground for second-hand cars, or second-hand anything,” he said.

“Africa and Rwanda deserve better and this is one way of showing we can afford it,” Kagame said.

As with second-hand clothing, Rwanda introduced higher tariffs for second-hand vehicles in 2016, a move that will benefit Volkswagen which aims to assembly 5,000 cars a year at the factory, including the Polo as well as the Passat estate car and Teramont 4×4 models.

However, at a cost of around $15,000 for the cheapest, the vehicles will be out of reach for most in Rwanda, where per capita income is just $740 per annum.

“Obviously there are some challenges, but there are great opportunities as well,” said Schafer.

Volkswagen plans to introduce an Uber-style ride-hailing service in partnership with local software company Awesomity Lab whereby new vehicles will be hired hourly as taxis and then sold on second-hand after some years use.

FIFA World Cup 2018: Germany Crash Out of World Cup at Group Stage!

Holders Germany sensationally crashed out of the World Cup on Wednesday in one of the biggest shocks in the tournament’s history — failing to make it past the opening round for the first time since 1938.

In a stunning reverse by the footballing superpower who have reached either the final or semi-finals of every World Cup since 2002, the Germans stumbled to a 2-0 loss to South Korea that left them rooted to the bottom of Group F.

Germany went into the game knowing that a win by two clear goals would have seen them into the last 16. But instead it was Sweden and Mexico who advanced after the Swedes romped to a 3-0 win over the Mexicans in Yekaterinburg.

“The disappointment of us being eliminated is just huge,” said Germany coach Joachim Loew, who is now under pressure to quit despite signing a contract extension until 2022 last month.

“It’s too soon for me to answer, it will take a few hours to see things clearly, the disappointment is very deep in me,” the 58-year said when asked if he would resign.

“It is a really, really bitter evening for us,” defender Mats Hummels added. “The situation is very difficult to put into words.”

“We had plenty of opportunities, we broke our necks trying out there today,” he added.

Germany qualified for Russia with a perfect record of 10 wins, but Hummels said the team had not played well since they wrapped up qualification late last year.

Hummels said the warning signs had been there after Germany lost their opening game 1-0 to Mexico.

“We put ourselves in this situation after the Mexican game,” he admitted. “The last game we delivered a good performance was in the autumn of 2017.”

Sweden coach Janne Andersson spoke of his immense pride after his side topped the group with second-half goals against Mexico from Ludwig Augustinsson, Andreas Granqvist and an own goal from Edson Alvarez to move into a last-16 meeting with Switzerland.

“We’ve done a fantastic job today with this match,” Andersson said.

“I’m so incredibly proud, almost moved as the thought of how we performed on the pitch, so disciplined. I think we’ve grown since our last match.”

Andersson said he refused to take any pleasure in the demise of the Germans whom he had accused of distasteful celebrations when they beat Sweden.

“I am not like that, it is not like that sport. I was very angry, but that was then and this is now.”

– Brazil ease through –

Brazil beat Serbia 2-0 to top Group E and cruise through to a last-16 meeting with Mexico.

Philippe Coutinho’s sublime pass was converted by Paulinho in the 35th minute and Thiago Silva powered in a second-half header at the Spartak Stadium in Moscow.

The Brazilians had to soak up spells of intense pressure from Serbia but finish unbeaten in the group stage.

After failing to fire in their opening match in Russia, a 1-1 draw against Switzerland, Brazil appears to be finding their normal fluency with each match as they go in search of a sixth World Cup. The Mexicans will need to regroup fast before facing them in Samara on Monday.

Mladen Krstajic’s talented Serbia team will always wonder what might have been. They will inevitably point to the disallowed penalty in the highly-charged 2-1 defeat to Switzerland when Aleksandar Mitrovic was wrestled to the ground as the point when their World Cup went awry.

Switzerland joined Brazil in the second round as runners-up after they drew 2-2 with Costa Rica in Nizhny Novgorod.

The Swiss will face the Swedes in Saint Petersburg on Tuesday but must do so without captain Stephan Lichtsteiner who will be suspended after picking up a yellow card.

A 93rd-minute own goal by the unfortunate Yann Somer from a Bryan Ruiz penalty gave the central American side a deserved 2-2 draw on a night of late drama.

Switzerland’s earlier lead lasted just two minutes after substitute Josep Drmic slotted home to seemingly give them three points.

Earlier Blerim Dzemaili had thumped home to give Switzerland the lead against the run of play against the team which finished bottom of Group E.

That goal was canceled out by Kendall Waston’s header in the 56th minute, the central Americans’ first goal of the tournament.

HUAWEI Y7 Prime 2018 is Pakistan’s Bestselling Smartphone Ever

The GfK report for May 2018 places Huawei less than 1% shy of clinching the No. 1 spot in Pakistan.

One in four consumers all over Pakistan chose HUAWEI Y7 Prime 2018 in the USD 100/- to USD 200/- segment. This was claimed by the GfK report for May 2018, making it Pakistan’s most loved smartphone. The device was launched in April as a perfect choice for youngsters looking to experience flagship Huawei features for an amazing price.

Featuring a 5.99” HUAWEI FullView Display with a stylish feel, the device is built for young photography enthusiasts with a 13MP+2MP dual rear camera powered by a superfast Octa-core chipset, 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM. The GfK report also highlights how HUAWEI Mate 10 lite is the most preferred mid-range device in Pakistan. Having been launched in November 2017, it has stayed on the top spot for the last six months.

“This is an exciting time for us in the local market, because we can feel Pakistan’s love towards our innovative device offerings,” said Blueking Wang, Manager, Huawei Consumer Business Group. “This love and fan-following motivates us to introduce even better, more competitively-priced devices during the second half of 2018. We are now well in-line to become Pakistan’s top smartphone brand before the year ends.”

Another distinction in the research report by GfK showcases how Huawei is now just 0.9% shy of the top spot in Pakistan. With new smartphone ranges planned for release in H2 2018, Huawei is gaining momentum to become Pakistan’s No.1 smartphone brand.

Dove Unveils Beauty Mark For Un-Retouched Images

The skincare giant is launching a ‘No Digital Distortion Mark’ that will signal the absence of any alterations to its images from this July.

The aim of the mark, according to the brand, is “to help women and girls navigate the media landscape letting them know that the image they see has not been digitally distorted to fit the ideals of what beauty is and isn’t.”

“Last year, we pledged to use images with zero digital distortion,” said Dove Global Vice President, Sophie Galvani, in a statement. “This year, we want to go one step further and give women a tool to help them understand what is real and what isn’t.”

The new symbol will appear on all of Dove’s branded content globally, starting with its deodorant campaigns from next month. By January next year, it will also be rolled out across the company’s static imagery across print, digital and social media.

Dove, which is known for its down-to-earth approach to beauty standards, first unveiled a ‘Real Beauty Pledge’ that vowed to always feature ‘real women’ of all ages, ethnicities, and sizes in its campaigns, last year.

It is not the only major brand communicating its no-photoshop stance to shoppers; earlier this year, US drugstore giant CVS announced the introduction of a ‘CVS Beauty Mark’, a watermark symbol that appears on unaltered images to signify its authenticity to customers. The mark made its debut in April, as part of the retailer’s first photoshop-free campaign, dubbed “Beauty in Real Life.”
