The latest Netflix TV show Messiah has caused a bit of stir on social media. The controversial thriller Messiah was branded as ‘anti-Islamic’ ahead of its premiere.

In fact, when the trailer of Netflix’s Messiah was released in 2019, Pakistani Twitter was in a fix as #Dajjal became one of the top trends on social media.

Now that Messiah has been premiered on Netflix, the masses have mixed reviews about the series.

The plot of the show is about a man who resembles the Islamic appearance of Hazrat Isa (AS) and claims to be a messiah after putting a raft of miracles on display.

It further goes onto developing how this extraordinary entity played by Mehdi Dehbi, is being investigated by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Eve Geller (Michelle Monaghan), who believes this is part of a large-scale geopolitical hoax.

Artist Proposes Currency Symbol for the Pakistani Rupee!

A total number of 8 countries use Rupee as its official currency, including Pakistan. However, only 2 of these 8 countries have a unique symbol for it.

Well-known Pakistani designer, artist, and traveler, Assam Artist has decided to propose his own symbol to represent our country’s Rupee.

The idea behind this design is so that the Pakistani Rupee can have its own identity in the markets, and around the world.

The symbol Assam proposed is a combination of Pakistan’s cultural heritage, rich history, and patriotism.

Assam explained that the Star and Crescent are the symbols of Pakistan and part of the Pakistani Flag. It represents the Muslim Community. He added;

I have merged the edges, curves, and lines of the crescent and star. I also took inspiration from gender and culture equality signs, which show that we are multi-cultural people of a nation with equal rights.

The symbol is a unique merge of the letters ‘P’ and ‘R’ for Pakistani Rupee.

I also used two alphabets from the National language Urdu, ‘ر’ from Rupiya, ‘ا’ (Alif) Initial of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. It is presented as Latin with a mixture of Urdu Qalam (Read Pen) Calligraphy.

Hareem Shah Requests Pakistan Army for Security After Father’s Video Surfaces on Social Media

A video of Hareem Shah’s father, Zarrar Hussain, is going viral on social media. In the video, the man is heard apologizing to the country on behalf of his daughters.

However, as soon as the video hit the internet, Hareem Shah requested the Pakistan Army and forces to provide security to her family as they were being threatened.

In the video, Hussain says that he is embarrassed and ashamed of his daughter’s actions, and apologizes to everyone, including those who became a victim.

He further adds that he apologizes to his family and relatives and prays that Fizza Hussain Shah returns.

While shedding tears, he said:

I, Zarrar Hussain sHAH, I DONT HAVE ANY WORDS, FOR THOSE PEOPLE, RELATIVES, AND FRIENDS AND OVERALL ALL RESPECTIVE INDIVIDUALS, WHO HAVE BEEN IN SHOCK. I DO NOT HAVE WORDS, I CAN ONLY APOLOGIZE.

However, imagine a wedding where the groom’s brother brings a truck-load of cellphones and notes to distribute to the attendees?

One excited brother was filmed as he threw cellphones and cash towards the audience for at least half an hour during his brother’s wedding ceremony.

A large number of people outside the barat also gathered witnessing this unbelievable sight.

People gathered around the vehicle and pushed and shoved to get closer some were even seen climbing the truck to grab whatever their hands could.

Credit & Debit Cards Across Pakistan Will Stop Working in 2020!

Hundreds of thousands of credit and debit cards in Pakistan will stop working in 2020.

The reason behind this sudden and shocking move which has brought major inconvenience for ATM users is the State Bank of Pakistan’s (SBP) notice.

According to it, all banks have been directed to switch to Europay Mastercard Visa (EMV) compliant cards or Chip-based cards before the start of the new year.

This means that the cards which have a magnetic strip will no longer work nor be compliant.

SBP stated that customers who have still not received their Europay Mastercard Visa (EMV-Chip and PIN) cards can continue using their existing magnetic stripe cards till the time they have received and activated their new cards.

Many customers had to wait in a queue of hours before being able to connect with the concerned customer service representatives.

SBP is yet to extend the deadline for this process, which means the hassles will be pro-longed for the upcoming days.

This circular was issued in November 2018, and all banks were directed to make the switch by 30th June 2019. The deadline was later extended to 31st December 2019.

One of the major reasons for this switch has the HBL hacking incident causing losses worth Rs 10.2 million!

Recently, PEMRA has been very active. The Pakistani dramas that propagated immoral values were banned. They included Ishqiya, Pyaar Ke Sadqay, and Jalan. Banning them was the right thing to do or not; I don’t know, but it does lead to wonder is there no regulation regarding screening the shows before they are even aired.

The Pakistani Dramas plots flawed?

I mean, if there is a sensor board that approves of dramas before they are aired, they would have known about the storylines in them. They would have known about the plots involving scandals between the brother-in-law and sister-in-law scandals, or the father-in-law obsessed with the daughter-in-law.

But anyway, sooner or later, they banned them, so that’s good, but some other Pakistani dramas should have been banned. Here is a list, tell us if you agree.

1. Ishq Tamasha: 

Ishq tamasha aired on HUM TV. It featured Junaid Khan, Aiman Khan, Faizan Khawaja, and Kinza Hashmi in lead roles. The acting was cute, and people had great chemistry in it, but the show highlighted something unacceptable. It showed that after a girl rejects a boy, the boy’s brother kidnaps the girl he suspected as the culprit. All that so he can get his brother and the girl forcefully married. And then Aiman Khan’s character falls in love with the kidnapper when he provides her refuge in his house. Seriously?

2. Mere Paas Tum Ho

The drama shows that the moment a woman steps out of her house, her boss hit on her. And as if she was waiting for it, the first time they have a business trip, she sleeps with her. What values did we promote through this? In a country where we already look down upon working women, we told the population that when a woman goes on business trips, this is what she does?

3. Do Bol

ARY aired a show about a woman in love with a man. But the family’s employee likes him, so he curates blame on her, which makes the guy suspect her character and the family disown the girl.

He then swoops down as a savior and married her. She falls for him after marriage. And later on, when she finds out about the truth, she forgives him. So we are telling boys that whatever that you do because of your claim of love will be forgiven after marriage?

Koi Chand Rakh is about a man who is crazy about beauty. He gets married to a relatively non-pretty girl. And he tortures her. Then he leaves her for her cousin, the pretty one. Not all heroes wear capes!

They live amongst us, roam amongst, and stay in the shadows. For those superheroes who are often disguised as ordinary people who have accomplished extraordinary things, crooner Ali Noor and Mehak have lent their voice to pay tribute to them.

Called ‘Salam Kissan’, the catchy tune shares how our farmers have sacrificed so much and dedicated their lives to ensure that we eat high-quality fruits, vegetables, and crops.

The vibrant and detailed shots showcasing their efforts and dedication towards their work was captured by none other than the renowned film director Jamshed Mahmood Raza aka Jami Moor.

The visuals have us hooked and the lyrics are on repeat in our minds! We see how these farmers walk on hot, barren land barefoot, putting in all their efforts under the scorching sun to make the soil useable.

We witness the hard physical labor that the farmers endure including walking miles and carrying heavy bundles of crops. They face hardships and overcome challenges including saving their crops from threatening insects such as locusts.

They are ever-resilient when it comes to nurturing the crops through changes of season and diverse weather conditions.

Winter Vacation 2019-20: Schools Across Sindh Start to Re-Open on New Year 2020

Schools across Sindh have started to reopen as children have come back from winter vacations.

Today marks the first day of school in the new year for many of the little tots. However, it was expected that vacations will be prolonged.

This is due to the change in weather. The Pakistan Metrological Department shared that Sindh, in particular, can expect chilly winds and even rain in the upcoming days.

The weather is expected to drop further down. Western winds from Iran are expected to enter from Balochistan from 3rd January, which is also likely to bring a spell of rain for both provinces.

For now, schools have officially been reopened and classrooms will commence as per the initial dates.
