Asim Azhar is a well-known youth icon in Pakistan. Ever since he was a small boy, he has been the voice of many TVCs and has made a name for himself in the industry.

Over the years, Asim’s fan-following has seen an enormous boom. One of the biggest hits the crooner has had his famous track ‘Jo Tu Na Mila Mujhe,’ which features Iqra Aziz.

However, it was only until recently that it was found that the famous track is an alleged rip-off.

A social media user revealed that ‘Jo Tu Na Mila’ is a copy of a Japanese OST produced by Studio Ghibli.

Once you listen to both the tracks as we did, you have to admit, they are way too similar, and this is no coincidence.

Here’s Asim Azhar’s ‘Jo Tu Na Mila’

The original Japanese OST soundtrack was initially composed of Mamoru Fujisawa, who is popularly known as Joe Hishahi.

On the other hand, ‘Jo Tu Na Mila’ earlier this year crossed a whopping 100 million views on popular music streaming platform YouTube.

Asim even took it to his Twitter to celebrate its accomplishment. He tweeted:

One hundred million views #JoTuNaMila! And it gives me immense honour to become the youngest and 4th Pakistani artist (after Rahat Fateh Ali Khan saab, Atif Aslam and Momina Mustehsan) to have 2 or more songs in the 100 million club. Thank you, I love you guys,

Asim Azhar Clarifies Situation

“That part of the song has been sampled through proper and legal means under Universal Music India, who released the song.” Asim said to Tribune.

“Such a big company won’t let such a big release go just like that,” concluded Azhar.

Tum Tum Also ‘Inspired’?

Asim’s newest track called ‘Tum Tum‘ has also received mixed reactions. While some liked the road as it features some of the biggest talents in Pakistan, others criticized it, pointing out that it stereotypes women for being gold diggers.

The song featured many big names, including Shamoon Ismail, Ramis, Young Stunners, Mooro, Hania Aamir, and others.

The funny thing with ‘Tum Tum‘ is that it too seems very much ‘inspired‘ by other songs.

12 Mineral Water Brands That Have Been Declared Unsafe For Drinking

Mineral water bottles in the making

Do you also have mineral water bottles stocked in your fridge? Or have the huge one refilled every week? Then this is for you: 12 mineral water brands found unsafe for drinking by an authority. The Ministry of Science and Technology department Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR)’s a quarterly report on mineral water states this.

The Process of PCRWR

PCRWR stated that their process was extensive, not to make any mistakes. For PCRWR to make this statement, they had to ensure their data collection was not centralized to any city and not biased. Thus, they conducted their sampling over many cities to get a fair idea. They stated that around 108 samples were taken from different cities in Pakistan. These cities include Karachi, Peshawar, Lahore, Quetta, Gilgit Baltistan, Faisal Abad, Sialkot, Islamabad, Muzaffarabad, Tandojam.

What Was Concluded

The results of samples taken from said countries revealed something unfortunate. At least nine mineral water brands were becoming a source of hypertension diseases. Hypertension diseases refer to those heart conditions that cause high blood pressure. Isn’t that becoming common?

Pouring water from jug into glass on blue background

What’s Causing The Hypertension?

Hypertension was being caused because of these mineral brands due to higher levels of sodium. Sodium found in safe-to-drink water is much lesser. In a standard 1.5 ltr bottle, sodium’s number should be 50, but in these, it’s 62-114. That’s almost twice as much in some cases. This high dose of sodium is what is inherently causing hypertension in consumers.

Name The Brands!

You need to look out for these mineral water brands. Spread this information, cut your supply, and make sure your loved ones aren’t falling prey to it either.

  1. Ziran
  2. MM Pure
  3. Blue Spring
  4. Aqua Spring
  5. Aqua Best
  6. Blue Plus
  7. Alpha 7 Star
  8. YK Pure
  9. Leven Star
  10. Hibba
  11. Dista Water
  12. DJOUR

Another Shocking Reveal!

Another mineral water brand was exposed for having unbelievably high pH levels. Chenab, the brand, has exceptionally high pH levels in its mineral water, which can cause acidity in the human body. The report further mentioned that two mineral water brands (MM Pure, Blue Spring) have the highest number of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). Compared to the permissible level, according to laws, these are completely unsafe for human consumption.

What You Can Do

The companies exposed for providing harmful mineral water can be sued in consumer court for negligence. It is unbelievable that they were not aware of what their own company is churning out. Many consumers have been drinking from them for ages; surely, they are suffering long-term injuries to their health now.

Besides that, you can stick to the brands that are not included in this list yet. However, make sure to do your research on them, too, so you’re aware of each ingredient going in your body.

Lastly, you can ditch bottled mineral water altogether and fix a water purifier on your tap.

Director General, WHO Recognizes Pakistan’s Response To COVID-19

Beaconhouse just launched its latest initiative in response to COVID-19, and we’re beaming with pride. On 10th July 2020, in Lahore Beaconhouse launched its entirely virtual School of Tomorrow (SOT) Conference.

“A World of Tomorrow: Negotiating a Better Future” launched with an exclusive video from none other than Director-General of WHO. While addressing the conference, Dr. Tedros Adhanon Ghebreyesus said, “It’s an honour to join the opening session of the School of Tomorrow Conference. I want to recognise the Government of Pakistan for its comprehensive response to COVID-19.”

Dr. Ghebreyesus moreover acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in countering the pandemic. Ghebreyesus said WHO is also working closely with the Government of Pakistan to ensure the safety of its citizens.

What SOT Is About

The brilliant initiative not only responds to urgencies created by a pandemic but also the other educational shortcomings in our country. The School of Tomorrow conference seeks to understand how COVID-19 is shaping critical global conversations about safer and more balanced futures. It is pushing educators to reimagine the future of education at both school and university levels. The conference continues to stream LIVE on July 11 and 12 on its website (www.sotevents.com) and the social media platforms Facebook and YouTube (Sot Events).

History of SOT

The non-profit School of Tomorrow Event Series was launched in 2000 and is organized by Beaconhouse as part of its ongoing commitment to its social responsibility. Beaconhouse’s emphasis on bringing about positive social change all the while providing quality education is commendable.

The Enriching Discussions

Planning the Future

Mr. Shafqat Mahmood suggested that schools might be reopening around the middle of September. In place of that, he emphasizes the importance of SOPs for students and faculty. He also made it a point to address the issue of girls’ education and low literacy rates in Pakistan. Mr. Mahmood felt that the same remote learning strategies that were being devised for COVID-19 could address both other issues.

On the other hand, Dr. Mishal Khan stressed that while COVID-19 is severe, it has been overly hyped. “More than 4,000 people die daily from other illnesses like Tuberculosis,” which explains her point of view. She stressed that there are many other diseases and viruses, some much more severe than COVID-19, that we have learned to live with.

His Excellency Omar Bin Sultan Al Olama of UAE, the world’s first minister for Artificial Intelligence, addressed a separate session. His focus was on issues pertinent to digitalization and artificial intelligence.

FDA Authorizes Marketing Of Philip Morris’s IQOS Tobacco Heating System

IQOS Tobacco Heating System

Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized the marketing of Philip Morris Products S.A.’s “IQOS Tobacco Heating System” as modified risk tobacco products (MRTPs). This marks the second set of products ever to be authorized as MRTPs and the first tobacco products to receive “exposure modification” orders, which permits the marketing of a product as containing a reduced level of or presenting a reduced exposure to a substance or as being free of a substance when the issuance of the order is expected to benefit the health of the population.

Importantly, the authorization for these products requires the company to conduct postmarket surveillance and studies to determine whether the MRTP orders continue to be appropriate, including assessing the potential for increased use among youth.

“Through the modified risk tobacco product application process, the FDA aims to ensure that information directed at consumers about reduced risk or reduced exposure from using a tobacco product is supported by scientific evidence and understandable,” said Mitch Zeller, J.D., director of the FDA’s Center for Tobacco Products. “Data submitted by the company shows that marketing these particular products with the authorized information could help addicted adult smokers transition away from combusted cigarettes and reduce their exposure to harmful chemicals, but only if they completely switch. The FDA will closely monitor how IQOS is used by consumers to determine if these products meet this potential and do not cause increased use among youth. It is important to note that these products are not safe, so people, especially young people, who do not currently use tobacco products should not start using them or any other tobacco product.”

The IQOS Tobacco Heating System

The IQOS Tobacco Heating System includes the electronic IQOS device that generates a nicotine-containing aerosol by heating tobacco-filled sticks wrapped in paper, specifically Marlboro Heatsticks, Marlboro Smooth Menthol Heatsticks, and Marlboro Fresh Menthol Heatsticks. The FDA previously authorized the marketing of these products without modified risk information in April 2019 via the premarket tobacco application (PMTA) pathway.

IQOS Tobacco Heating System

Today’s action pertains to the separate MRTP applications for these products and further authorizes the manufacturer to market these specific products with the following information:

“AVAILABLE EVIDENCE TO DATE:

  •  The IQOS system heats tobacco but does not burn it.
  • This significantly reduces the production of harmful and potentially harmful chemicals.
  • Scientific studies have shown that switching completely from conventional cigarettes to the IQOS system significantly reduces your body’s exposure to harmful or potentially harmful chemicals.”

Even with this action, these products are not safe nor “FDA approved.” The exposure modification orders also do not permit the company to make any other modified risk claims or any express or implied statements that convey or could mislead consumers into believing that the products are endorsed or approved by the FDA, or that the FDA deems the products to be safe for use by consumers.

Two types of MRTP

There are two types of MRTP orders the FDA may issue: a “risk modification” order or an “exposure modification” order. The company had requested two kinds of rules for the IQOS Tobacco Heating System. After reviewing the available scientific evidence, public comments, and recommendations from the Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee, the FDA determined that the evidence did not support issuing risk modification orders at this time but that it did support issuing exposure modification orders for these products. This determination included a finding that issuance of the exposure modifications orders is expected to benefit the health of the population as a whole.

In particular, the agency determined the company demonstrated that because the IQOS Tobacco Heating System heats tobacco and does not burn it, it significantly reduces the production of harmful and potentially harmful chemicals compared to cigarette smoke. Furthermore, studies showed switching completely from combusted cigarettes to the IQOS Tobacco Heating System significantly reduces the body’s exposure to 15 specific harmful and potentially harmful chemicals. The toxicological assessment also found that, compared with cigarette smoke, IQOS aerosols contain considerably lower levels of potential carcinogens and toxic chemicals that can harm the respiratory or reproductive systems. Additionally, the FDA found that the applications supported the required consumer understanding findings.

Today’s authorization requires Philip Morris Products S.A. to conduct postmarket surveillance and studies to determine the impact of these orders on consumer perception, behavior, and health, and to enable the FDA to review the accuracy of the determinations upon which the rules were based. These postmarket requirements include a rigorous toxicity study using computer models to help predict potential adverse effects in users. The orders also require the company to monitor youth awareness and use of the products to help ensure that the marketing of the MRTPs does not have unintended consequences for youth use. The company must also keep the FDA apprised of efforts to prevent youth access and exposure.

These requirements are in addition to the postmarket conditions and restrictions previously placed on these products in their April 2019 PMTA authorizations, such as reporting information to the FDA about consumer research studies, sales, and advertising information and adverse experiences, among others. In particular, to limit youth access to the products and to limit youth exposure to IQOS advertising and promotion, the PMTA authorization placed stringent restrictions on how the products are marketed – mainly via websites and through social media platforms – by including requirements that advertising is targeted to adults of legal age to purchase tobacco products.

The company must request and receive authorization from the FDA to continue marketing the products with the same modified exposure information after the initial orders expire in 4 years. The FDA also may withdraw the initial and any potential subsequent exposure modification orders if the agency determines that, among other things, the rules are no longer expected to benefit the health of the population as a whole, for example as a result of uptake in the use of the products by youth or former smokers, or a decrease in the number of current smokers who completely switch to the products.

The MRTP pathway outlined in the 2009 Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act allows companies to submit applications for the FDA to evaluate whether a tobacco product may be sold or distributed for use to reduce harm or the risk of tobacco-related disease. By law, the FDA must also ensure that the advertising and labeling of modified risk products enable the public to understand the modified risk or modified exposure information and to understand the significance that data has in the context of total health and about all tobacco-related diseases and health conditions.

The FDA, an agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, protects the public health by assuring the safety, effectiveness, and security of human and veterinary drugs, vaccines and other biological products for human use, and medical devices. The agency also is responsible for the safety and security of our nation’s food supply, cosmetics, dietary supplements, products that give off electronic radiation, and for regulating tobacco products.

Top Budget Phones To Consider During The Lockdown

Top Budget Phones to Consider During Lockdown

To overcome the global threat of COVID19, the human race is easing into a new lifestyle, ensuring health through social-distancing and adopting hygiene as the primary protocol. Telecommunications provide sustainable growth for us, as innovative and resourceful enterprises are coming up with a blast of futuristic devices and solutions to deliver the most needed services for the masses.

The telecom market in Pakistan has also evolved according to the situation and changes in consumers’ expectations. Powerful with appealing looks, new smartphones are introduced with superior functions to ease the lives of consumers during the strict preventive lockdowns.

On top of this list of feature-rich devices, the tech-analysts and experts have time and again focused on entry-level smartphones as more and more consumers get to buy them. While the market is littered with such entry-level phones, we’ve picked out the best ones based on their design, battery, and performance but, most importantly, pricing!

HUAWEI Y6p (PKR 20,899/-)

Aimed at addressing the communication needs of YOUNGSTERS with the smallest budgets, Huawei has launched an impressive device named the Y6p. It enables unmatched prowess for more intensive and critical use, with its 5,000 mAh battery and a 13MP Triple Camera setup that captures spectacular images (impressive night-mode too) with stunning clarity in pictures. Put together with a 5MP Ultra Wide lens and a 2MP depth sensor; it can create super-impressive and natural bokeh effects in your photos.

This device also allows fascinating creative expressions and sharing on social networks with its 16MP selfie camera on the front.

Packed with a 3GB RAM and 64GB ROM, HUAWEI Y6p features immersive viewing on its 6.3-inch HD+ display, while a rear ultra-fast fingerprint sensor ensures complete security of data. Enjoy the most awesome surround-sound music and crisp audio, with the HUAWEI SuperSound and party-mode with FM radio. It is available in three soothing colors – Phantom Purple, Emerald Green & Midnight Black.

Samsung Galaxy A20s (PKR 30,500/-)

Another big name in the ‘Budget’ Smartphone category is the Samsung Galaxy A20s. It offers attractive specs for the consumers who want to have a good phone at an ‘almost’ affordable price. Its 6.5-inch Infinity-V display doesn’t match an HD+, but it provides good experience while gaming or watching movies or videos. Its triple rear-camera setup comprises of a 13MP primary sensor, enriched by an 8MP Ultra Wide sensor, and a 5MP Depth Sensor, along with a flash. At the same time, its front camera can take 8MP Selfies. Data security is ensured by a fingerprint reader, while its 4,000 mAh battery delivers average battery usage.

Moreover, with such a big screen, this may not prove itself to be good at battery timing, especially if you’re an intensive phone user. The 1.8GHz Octa-Core Processor chipset is good enough for an entry-level phone, but it may prove to be a bit uninspiring when compared to the other competing devices in this category. The 3GB or 4GB RAM and 32GB or 64GB ROM are quite good but maybe less than some generic devices in this category and this price tag. This phone tends to be priced higher than its competitors in this category.

Oppo A5s (PKR 20,999/-)

The 3GB version of the Oppo A5s is an entry-level mobile, the consumers may find it very attractively priced at PKR 20,999/- in Pakistan as the primary attraction of this brand is its lower price. Still, this device did compromise on its capacity, with a lower ROM of 32GB, while some users may also have complaints about its performance and durability.

The MediaTek Helio P35 is the most common chipset used in the cheapest smartphones so that the phone may be a bit slow on multitasking. If the users get uncomfortable with the storage capacity, they can use a dedicated microSD card to add 256GB extra, which is usually far slower than primary storage. Even the Dual camera setup is not as good as the Triple cameras offered by the premium branded phones in this category.

It has a dual rear camera with a 13MP primary sensor and only a 2MP depth sensor and an LED flash. The selfie sensor on the front is 8MP. Here the camera pales in comparison to the HUAWEI Y6p, which offers more for a slightly lesser price. The visual experience is quite good due to its 6.2 inches Full HD+ resolution, while your data is strongly protected, due to a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Powered by a 4,230 mAh battery, it is somewhat lesser than its competitors in this segment, while the Android 9 Operating System is also an attractive feature of this low-priced phone.

Vivo Y11 (PKR 19,999/-)

Another brand, Vivo, is emerging well in several segments of the Pakistani market. In the entry-level segment, Vivo has introduced the Y11 smartphone, priced at PKR 19,999/-. This device is bought for its lower price alone as the features offered are quite basic. The photography enthusiasts, however, may find it exciting due to the 13MP Dual Camera, featuring a 2MP Depth sensor. Still, you may also know that a higher number of megapixels doesn’t have that good outcome when it comes to camera results.

The selfie freaks may also love its 8MP front camera, to capture their most memorable moments, while they can enjoy their visual experiences with the 6.35 inch IPS HD screen. The robust 5,000 mAh battery also makes it the right choice, as it promises lasting performance for the passionate surfers and social-media geeks. Let’s hope Vivo also offers excellent battery optimization in this low budget phone. Otherwise, these specs are just numbers. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 OctaCore processor may not be the best in class. However, users may enjoy some degree of multitasking, while the 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM also add to their performance capacity.

Another thing to note here is that Vivo Y11 gives you 32GB while you can get a 64GB on the HUAWEI Y6p – for almost the same price. Other than that, the ease of use and convenience for users is also enhanced by the Android 9 Operating system. All these low-priced devices are within reach of consumers with limited budgets. Now, everyone can have access to the fascinating world of digital infotainment and global accessibility, to enhance their performance and quality of life. At the same time, they can engage more closely with the digital communities around the globe.

Did Samsung Just Copy All The Elements of iPhone?

Samsung

In 2012, Apple accused Samsung of deliberate patent violations in the United States. A lawyer hired by Apple said in the court that the top executives at Samsung planned to copy “every element” of Apple’s iPhone during the trial.

Lawyer for Apple at the time, Harold McElhinny told the jury that Samsung began the work when Apple launched its very first iPhone in January 2007.

“At the same time [Apple co-founder Steve Jobs] introduced the iPhone, he warned his competitors that he had filed for patent protection on more than 200 new inventions in the iPhone,” McElhinny said.

It is easier to copy than innovate something new said the lawyer. “Samsung was faced with a choice. Samsung could come up with its own designs, it could beat Apple fairly in the marketplace, or it could copy Apple… it’s easier to copy than to innovate.”

“At the highest corporate levels, Samsung decided to copy every element of the iPhone,” he said.

The rival company planned to make identical changes to their devices so that they could bag a large share of the market for themselves.

“This was not accidental. Samsung’s copying was intentional. Over 100 times, Samsung made detailed changes to its phones and tablets so that the end result was identical to Apple products,” the lawyer said.

Apple vs. Samsung

The first U.S. trial caught the attention as many people were waiting for the verdict. It was sensationalized and some times also called a  ‘blockbuster patent trial.’ The test was underway in San Jose, California.

It is notable to mention that billions were at stake for two big tech giants. The jury announced its verdict on the 24th of August 2012, which favored Apple. It found Samsung guilty of infringing utility patents (the United States Patent Nos. 7,469,381, 7,844,915, and 7,864,163) and Apple’s design (United States Patent Nos. D504,889, D593,087, D618,677, and D604,305). Apple was awarded a whopping $1.049 billion in damages.

The lawsuits between the two companies have expanded since then. By the end of 2012, there were around 50 lawsuits entangled between the two companies, with billions claimed as damages in different courts.

After more than a decade, Samsung and Apple are still rivals as two leading tech giants in the market place. We see both the companies borrowing ideas and features from each other.

Just recently, Apple borrowed android features for it’s latest iOS 14 update. Read the full story here:

Abdul Razak Dawood expressed his joy on this achievement. He further gave credit to Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturing and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) for their efforts. PRGMEA held 35th IAF (International Apparel Fashion) fashion convention last year in November. This was in collaboration with the Dutch industry association Modint.

Hugo Boss is famous for its men’s clothing. It also manufactures clothing and accessories. It has a wide range of products, including shoes, watches, and perfumes. This order from Hugo Boss will help promote the readymade fashion industry of Pakistan. The readymade apparel industry has a very high demand, locally and internationally.

The global pandemic, coronavirus, has caused exports to decrease all over the world. It was because most of the countries canceled export orders. On Tuesday 7th of June, advisor to the prime minister of Pakistan tweeted that Pakistan’s exports did not decrease as much as everyone feared amidst the lockdown. He also congratulated the exporters and aimed to strategize the economy’s full recovery.

Pakistani economy fares better than its rivals’

Abdul Razak Dawood said that Pakistan’s exports declined only about 6% whereas India lost 14% of its exports while Bangladesh lost 14%. It must be noted that India has a much larger economy than Pakistan’s.

Hope for the coming times

We only hope that this news will bring more positive updates about Pakistan’s struggling economy. Furthermore, Pakistan’s declining economy needs to rise in these times of turmoil.

What do you think about this achievement by PRGMEA? Let us know in the comments below.

Dawlance Inverter ACs Offer The Longest 4-year Warranty On PCB Cards In Pakistan

dawlance 4 year pcb card

Summers are here and all we want are up and running ACs. If you’re from Pakistan, you know how the summers treat you. On top of that, ACs can get pretty inconvenient to service mainly when the company’s warranty has run out or your inverter AC’s PCB Card has malfunctioned which can cost you a hefty amount. That is precisely why Dawlance has exceeded our expectations and has introduced its four-year warranty on PCB Cards on all Inverter Air Conditioners!

Dawlance, one of the most trusted names in the home appliances sector in Pakistan is the first brand to offer 4 years’ warranty of PCB Cards after their existing 12 years’ compressor warranty. The four years’ warranty is a blessing in disguise as PCB is one of the most common issues in inverter ACs, which costs consumers almost half the price of the AC. Hence the four years’ warranty is somewhat like a money-back assurance for consumers if they purchase Dawlance inverter ACs as no one in Pakistan is offering such a long warranty.

Dawlance treating their customers right

Dawlance is, in fact, a multi-national company, and its policies reflect that. It is owned by Arçelik – the largest enterprise in Turkey and the 3rd largest manufacturer of home appliances in Europe. Dawlance was acquired with an initial investment of more than 36 Million Euros, followed by well over 16 million Euros of Foreign investments by the year 2019. As a result, Dawlance was able to ensure robust research & development to make its products what they are today.

The Unparalleled Focus On Customer Satisfaction

Modern inverter air-conditioners are equipped with PCB cards which help in the operations of managing the room temperature and controlling the inverter AC. PCB cards are not only essential, but they’re also delicate and expensive costing approximately half the price of your air conditioner. Apart from PCB card another major component of an AC is its compressor.

Thereby, in addition to the 4-year warranty on PCB cards, Dawlance already offers 12 years warranty on the compressors in its ACs. Such extended warranty periods reflect their pride and trust in the quality and durability of their goods. Wouldn’t you want to feel at ease for four years/12years after a purchase knowing the company has got your back?

The Innovative Streak

Dawlance’s pursuit of providing the best possible products does not end here. The latest range of Dawlance air conditioners has a “Self-Cleaning Function.” This function automatically keeps the interior of your AC thoroughly clean and protected from dust and pollen. If the inside of your AC is clean, only then can the air inside your home be hygienic and safe which is very essential specially in the current age. Learn more about it!

This technology-leading enterprise also ventured into IOT to enhance the experience of a Dawlance air conditioner. Meet Dawlance ‘SYNC’ powered by homewhiz, an application that enables the consumers to control and monitor their Dawlance Designer Plus Inverter AC, on-the-go, from anywhere in the world. Additionally, it can help them minimize their power-bills. For more details, please visit here.

Dawlance also focuses heavily on sustainability and conservation, which is rare for brands in this sector. Its inverter air conditioners promise to save up to PKR 30,000 annually*, which puts us in a win-win situation because our electricity bills get reduced while the environment is protected as well! With this in mind, we have more than several reasons to trust Dawlance’s ethos. Dawlance always has its customers in mind, and the company’s innovations must be recognized as revolutionary in the field.

‘Elite’ Woman Booked For Slapping Traffic Warden [Watch Video]

Time and time again, we have seen people who belong to ‘elite’ families or have strong social backing threaten others about how powerful they are.

Countless viral videos have circulated on social media showing how the common man and officials have used their contacts to abuse the law.

Yet another video showing how a woman who has ‘sources’ thinks she can get away with slapping a traffic warden is making rounds.

We can see the lady arguing with the warden, misbehaving, and threatening him. At a point in the video, she is also seen taking away his walkie by force!

Lahore woman slaps police
PC: Twitter

The video was recorded in the Gulberg area, Lahore. Traffic Warden identified as Furqan Ali was carrying out his duty when he approached the woman who had parked wrong, caused a massive traffic block.

When Ali asked her to remove the vehicle, she started to create a scene. Not only did she slap him, but she also tore his uniform. The police have now registered a case against the accused.

A spokesperson for City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) said that the lady had also hurt the official with her nails leaving marks on his body.

Despite her anger management issues, the warden remained calm, which is commendable.

Watch the video below:

As unfortunate as this event is, it is heart-breaking to see that this is something that has happened time and time again.

People think they can break the law whenever they please and can get away with it by using their ‘sources’ and ‘contacts.’

Not too long ago, a video of another rude woman went viral on social media, who also tried to bully her way out of the situation.

https://youtu.be/U9P74AmshBA

The lady on in the video had broken the signal, and when the warden started to record the interaction, she began to abuse him when he refused to let her go off the hook for violating the law.

In another video, a woman started to create a scene after she was asked to lower her car’s window and talk to the officer at the check-post in Islamabad.

https://youtu.be/cnU7Nrm3sIM

It’s not just the women who have done this. Men have also followed in the same footsteps.

https://youtu.be/cAfbC_-GJhk

It is essential for the people of Pakistan to understand that the set of rules and laws that have been set are to protect the citizens.

If they are not obeyed and followed according, there can be fatal casualties. As responsible citizens, it is crucial we set examples for our next of kins, not teach them that they can only get away from such situations by violence and misbehaving.

Stay safe and stay tuned to Brandsynario.

3 Things We Can Expect From Pakistan’s Economy Amid The Pandemic

Pakistan's economy
Source/ Arab News

Before the COVID-19 outbreak, Pakistan’s economy was struggling to stay afloat but was in no imminent danger of collapse. However, the pandemic has severely impacted the nation’s economy and virtually pushed it to the brink of bankruptcy.

While almost all nations have been substantially affected by the global health emergency, Pakistan’s economy cannot absorb the massive disruption caused by the pandemic.

While addressing the World Economic Forum at Davos in January, Prime Minister Imran Khan claimed that the year 2020 would be one of economic growth for Pakistan. Khan’s words echoed his vows to the domestic audience, as he has promised fiscal “development” in the country within the ongoing calendar year.

When Pakistan implemented a national lockdown in mid-March, economic activity for the world’s fifth-most populous country was brought to a halt. In a country where nearly 40% of people live in poverty, and more than 24 million workers either earn daily or piece-rate wages or are self-employed, the ensuing economic crisis has hit the population hard.

Below are the three things that will be a result of post-COVID Pakistan:

1. Unemployment

Pakistan's economy
Source/ Tribune

Lockdowns and decline in GDP may induce temporary unemployment of 11.5 million people and, in the long term, 6.5 million people, pushing the unemployment rate in Pakistan to its highest at 16%. Moreover, up to 15-20 million Pakistanis might fall below the poverty line raising the total number of poverty-stricken citizens to 103 million in the nation.

2. Life after lockdown

Pakistan's economy
Source/ Dawn

Since Pakistan’s economy has been a slow trajectory for the past few years, it will be a slow and steady process to get back on track. After the lockdown phase, the second phase will commence, in which containment of the virus will continue and stabilize the economy. This will be a process to bring back dead businesses gradually.

Pointers such as the capacity to protect employees, provide a safe environment to work, follow the SOPs set by the government, and changes in schedules, etc. may impact small and medium-sized businesses, especially until a vaccine comes in the picture. Another issue is that for many SMEs, the cost of compliance with the government’s SOPs will be a difficult task.

3. Digital transformation

Pakistan's economy
Source/ Dawn

Remote work is likely to become more common. We had some evidence that working from home is at least as productive as working at the office. However, several organizations were reluctant to embrace remote work. Now that many have tried it with good results, remote work might be here to stay.

The pandemic crisis has accelerated the pace of digital transformation, with further expansion in e-commerce and increases in the speed of adoption of videoconferencing and online teaching.

Scientists Are Worried About ‘Pink’ Snow Fall In Europe

Pink Snow in the Italian Alps

Pink snow is something you might never have heard of before. However, the Italian Alps mountain tops are all covered in “strawberry pink” snow. Imagine, all around you, a layer of pink on the highest mountains. Sounds like a scene from an Alien-esque movie or a dystopian, futuristic scene from life on another planet. But it’s all happening on Earth and happening right now.

How Does Snow Turn Pink

Pink snow, according to scientists, is an acute sign of environmental catastrophe. It is a wrong signal to us despite being visually appealing. Pink snow, although it is relatively common, is not that frequent. This year, however, it is emerging in various other places untimely.

Pink snow in the Italian Alps

The pink hue comes from the blooming algae in the snow, which absorbs more heat from the sun. As a result, the snow melts faster than regular white snow, and so do the glaciers.

Why Is That Concerning?

A faster rate of melting and glaciers can mean two things: more floods and fewer glaciers in the future. If the snow melts more rapidly than usual, the water is bound to reach the lower-lying areas. Moreover, a study published last year predicted that half of the Italian Alps’ glaciers could disappear in this century. All that is a manifestation of climate change.

While it is not clear whether algae blooms are due to warmer temperatures, the faster melting is. Scientists are currently trying to add this model to environmental plans. This can help them understand whether pink snow can cause further global warming in the future.

Where Else Are The Mountains Turning Pink?

A few weeks ago, Alaska’s snow was dyed pink due to the blooming algae. In March, the same sights were witnessed at Galindez Island off northern Antarctica. Last year snow in New Zealand turned pink due to the smoke from the bush fires in Australia.

There have also been reports about weird green algae blooming in another part of the continent. These unusual sights are becoming more prevalent and appearing at random times. This has got to be a massive cause of concern when it comes to the environment— what’s triggering such bizarre changes?

Have You Heard Of Green Snow?

Antarctica is supposedly turning into a huge margarita. Snow there is turning into a bizarre shade of green in some areas. It’s not because someone accidentally dyed it, it’s because of microscopic snow algae. These algae bloom in warmer temperatures, and in the last ten years, Antarctica’s average temperature has risen.

Green snow in the Antarctica

The area covered by the green snow is so vast it can be viewed from satellites. This is another way in which warming temperatures are impact ice.

McDonald’s 2020 Graduation Campaign Adds Light To Students’ Lives

In June this year, McDonald’s Italy came up with an ad campaign that targeted students. Leo Burnett Milan took this ad campaign to social media to attract students who had been studying for finals. Maria Chiara Alegi is the senior copywriter of the ad.

Along with highlighting the importance and need for breaks from studying, the ad also presents educational facts. The fast-food company presented several posters, all saying, “Is hunger confusing you? Have a tasty break with McDelivery.”

All these ad posters carry facts about historical figures, paintings, and books that are well known to students.

A well-appreciated campaign

The campaign has gathered positive responses from all over the world.

Targeting the exam stress

Bringing the stress students to feel before and during the exam season to everyone’s attention and targeting them through an ad campaign is a great idea. Teenagers and young adults feel the most anxious and stressed, mainly because of their studies.

According to statistics, about a third of teenagers aged between 15 of 19 reported that they feel stressed. Additionally, almost half of survey respondents teenagers said that they feel worried in their daily life. Study and exam stress is not only one of the many factors that affect these teenagers but is, perhaps, the most prominent one.

McDonald’s did a tremendous job by targeting students. In Italy, exams before leaving school are considered extremely difficult and is a cause of stress among not only students but their families as well.

Pakistani cinema industry highly influenced by Bollywood.

Since the early 1950s, item songs have been a part of the Bollywood film industry. Item songs usually have nothing to do with the plot of the movie. Instead, they are just fillers and used for entertainment purposes, most notably in the provocative sense.

The item songs in most films usually are included to promote the film as much as possible. This, indeed, is the most effective way to grab the attention of masses. Speaking of which, Bollywood has been setting this trend for quite some time now in promoting their films.

Recently, Pakistani cinema has begun following Bollywood’s footsteps in popping item songs in its films. However, in Pakistan, debates on women’s objectification and sexualization have picked up force, and a notable difference has been observed in the inclusion of these songs.

Some of Pakistan’s most popular actresses who have been featured in item songs include Mehwish Hayat, Ayesha Omer, Neelum Muneer, Saba Qamar, Sadaf Kanwal, and many more. Moreover, Sadaf’s item song ‘Kaif O Suroor’ in the movie Na Maloom Afraad 2 stirred quite a storm on social media.

No. Because I’m married now. I have a family now. I used to be single before and now I have family so  Now I’ll have to be watchful.

Pakistani Students May Have To Leave US If Classes Go Online

Students at graduation

Pakistani students are once again disadvantaged in their pursuit of education. Many Universities in the US have announced that the Fall semester will be online due to coronavirus. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced on Monday that international students living in the US must leave if their university goes online. That, or they will risk deportation.

ICE’s Approach

ICE’s blunt decision comes at the worst possible time. This will only create more fear, anxiety, and confusion in an already uncertain time. Most students, currently in the US, are away from family. Moreover, like any other individual right now, their mental health is also at stake here due to quarantine. For ICE to drop a bomb like this is merely terrible.

In addition to that, it’s representing a Trump-like attitude of insensitivity towards internationals.

Last year, the White House issued an immigration proclamation that forced hundreds into uncertainty and loss.

The Perception Of Pakistani Students

Pakistani students are a part of the group of international students in various universities. This decision is going to tar their perception further. International students are always perceived to be inferior in academia and tolerate implicit racism. They are regarded as charity cases by the University, which implies that they wouldn’t be here if the University did not need money.

Why This Decision Is Insensitive

Most of the countries international students hail from have currently suspended flights. How do they return? In addition to that, most students are not paying full tuition fees. They have secured scholarships or are funded by external parties. For such students going back and forth repeatedly costs an arm and a leg and is impossible. For those students who support their tickets with their own earning, this is another hardship.

By continually putting international students at a financial disadvantage, Universities prefer their nationals.

How are The Universities Responding

ICE also dared to suggest students transfer to schools offering in-person classes. According to them, to stay in the US, they must put their health at stake. Some Universities, however, are implementing a hybrid model with a mix of in-person classes and online. University representatives from Brown and Harvard have added that they’re going to chart plans for the future that accommodate students from all backgrounds.

Going Forward

The plan for the future sounds uncertain for all. Those who were yet to decide which University to go to in Fall, they will be nudged away from the US. These students will most likely consider going to study at a different University. As for ICE, it is facing its fair share of backlash from students and media groups alike.
