Islamic scholars have rallied around the idea that everyone can take the vaccine between sehri and iftar; it will not hurt your fast.
These famous scholars include Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Abdulaziz Al Sheikh, Grand Mufti of Dubai, Shaikh Dr. Ahmad bin Abdul Aziz Al Haddad, Grand Mufti of Lebanon, Sheikh Abdul-Latif Derian, among others.
The rulings and justifications they provided were:
“The COVID-19 vaccine does not invalidate the fast of a fasting person because it is not considered as food and drink. The vaccine is administered intramuscularly, so it does not invalidate the fast.”
“The COVID-19 vaccine does not break any fast because it is taken intramuscularly, so it is permissible for the fasting person to take the vaccine.”
“The COVID-19 vaccine will not invalidate the fast because it has no nutritional value and it is injected into the muscle.”
“There is no nutritious vitamin or food substance in any vaccine, including the COVID-19 vaccine. Injecting such a thing into the body does not break the fast.”
So you can, with complete ease, take the vaccine.

The Interior
If we look at the interior, all three variants have electronic power steering. As opposed to the Low variant, the premium and base also have cruise control. Similarly, where the first two variants have a touch screen, the third one has an audio system. So if you are looking to go a bit old school on the infotainment, then the low variant is for you.
If we take a look at the seating, the premium and smart variants have electric-powered 6-way driver’s seat. In the low version, all the seats are manually adjustable. While the comfort factor does not differ by a lot, there is a more premium feel in the higher versions. Also, the premium has a sunroof and leather seats whereas the other ones have fabric ones.
There are not a lot of differences in engine power when it comes to the three Corolla cross variants. All come fitted with a 1800cc engine with CVT transmission. Additionally, the engine provides a combined horsepower of 168hp and a combined torque of 305Nm.

Safety Factors
One of the most talked-about things about the vehicle is the safety factor. The premium and smart variants have a total of seven airbags, one for each passenger. On the other hand, the low variant has just the standard two airbags. All three variants have ABS, Brake Assist, and EBD as well as back parking sensors. The premium and smart Corolla cross also have front parking sensors!

Price Bracket
The Premium variant is currently available at Rs.85 Lac whereas the smart variant costs Rs.82 Lac. If we look at the low variant, it costs about Rs.77 Lac. There is a considerable gap between the prices of all three. As we have seen, there is also a difference in the features of all three.

Update: 13th April, 2021: On Tuesday, according to news, provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh, issued an alert for heavy rain and thunderstorm in the province in Larkana, Sukkur and Jacobabad districts from Wednesday till Saturday.
Moreover, the authority has advised concerned district authorities to take timely steps to ensure the safety of lives in their areas.
Update: 25th March, 2021: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that the temperature in Karachi may reach 39°C after 30 March. The PMD has also said that the intensity may increase in Karachi starting tomorrow.
According to Sardar Sarfaraz, Karachi Director of the PMD, the temperature is likely to be 4°C to 6°C higher than usual.
In March, the average temperature in Karachi was 32.4°C and is expected to rise from 36°C to 38°C.
According to Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD), 2019 will likely be the hottest year since 2015.
Temperature is expected to soar high in the upcoming days. However, major heatwaves are predicted in May.
June is forecasted to be even hotter.
It is to be noted that Ramadan is likely to begin in Pakistan from 9th May. Consequently, fasting will be tough for citizens owing to the harsh weather.
According to the Express Tribune, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) has kickstarted initiatives to improve water supply in the city.
Mainly dry weather is expected in most parts while cold in northern areas of the country.
In Karachi, the minimum temperature of the city was recorded at 22-degree Celsius. The maximum temperature is likely to increase from 34 to 36 degrees Celsius.

Ahmed Ali Butt was invited to Ghabrana Mana Hai, a show hosted by Vasay Chaudhary. Even though it has been quite some time since that happened, Vasay posted a clip of it on his Insta stories last night which got our attention. It certainly sounded like an irresponsible statement to us, but you tell us what you think.

The conversation was about how in current times, it seems that every other joke is offensive, and people mind it. So in response to that, Ahmed said that jokes are, at the end of the day, at someone’s expense. But since we comedians only want to make people laugh so the people whose expense we are making it should be more open-minded and accepting of it.

Just because your intention towards a specific group of people is positive, that does not negate the fact that you made a joke on another group of people.
What is a joke?
Looking at a joke’s actual definition, we found that it is a thing that causes amusement or laughter. So fitting in what Ahmed Ali Butt said, the jokes that he crack would mean a whole group being amused at another group. They find what other group experiences funny; it means that they are looking down on the other group.
A better way to make jokes is to say funny stories about the community you identify with, something you have experienced for yourself. Considering the comedian-actor has almost a million followers, he should be careful of what teachings he spreads.

Coronavirus’s effects on the bodies are a long list though it has been mainly experienced to be related to the respiratory system. However, new research suggested that its effects may also bleed into detrimental effects on the male sperm count.
What Is the New Research Suggesting?
A paper published in the journal called EClinicalMedicine looked at testis and epididymis (the tube that transports sperm from the testis) from several patients. The test pool included 6 male Covid-19 patients who had died from the disease and 23 patients recovering from mild or moderate cases of the disease.

After several tests were done using these samples, they were then compared to a control group of healthy men of similar ages.
What Were The Results?
The tissues of the men who had died of Covid-19 showed high levels of cells and proteins indicating inflammation. In other words, there was blood in the testes and epididymis, and dying cells. On the other hand, in the men recovering from Covid-19, 39% had low sperm counts. This was interesting to note because each of them had at least one biological child through natural pregnancy.

Moreover, 61% of the men also had an increased number of white blood cells in their semen, which indicates that sperm function is compromised.
What Needs To Be Taken Into Account?
As with all studies, several other facts are to be taken into account when interpreting this. Firstly, the test pool was tiny. To further corroborate these claims, testing on a larger scale has to be done.

Secondly, there is also no data on the sperm number and quality before they became sick with Covid-19. Hence, it is possible; their levels are not due to COVID-19.
It is also important and concerning to note that if Covid-19 does hinder the sperm count and quality, it will be the first virus to do so.
Other Viruses and Their Effects
“There is a broad range of viruses that affect the male reproductive tract, particularly the testes,” said Krutika Kuppalli, MD, Assistant Professor at the University of South Carolina.
The viral effects on male fertility have been noted with Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Influenza, Coxsackie virus. Among others are HPV, Ebola, EBV, and HSV. However, doctors suggest it will take some time to confirm whether this news is true or not.

But in a recent interview with a TV channel, the actress has denied the rumors.

She claimed that her mother had misunderstood what had happened and it remained so because her phone had been snatched and she was without it for two days. She also said that she will tell the public about the entire fiasco when she returns to Pakistan but that may take some time. This is because she will first be going to Dubai to sort out her property and then come back to Karachi.
In times where anything can become news and spread like wildfire, we should be more vigilant about the words we use as they can take a life of their own.
[April 8th, 2021]: When something remotely linked to Meera, it makes headlines. Not always is it something that should get sensationalized but to get more views and traffic, publications and news channels used terminologies and twist the stories in a way that change the matter at hand.
This time around as well, a story went viral which said that Meera had been forcibly admitted to a mental hospital. Meera’s mom was contacted by a TV channel. She too confirmed that during a phone call Meera had said that she was being forcibly sent to a mental hospital. And when she tried contacting
Meera again on her personal number, she had been unable to. In the video, Meera’s mom was requesting the government to help in Meera’s return.
After that, numerous speculations came up about the reason why she was sent there. While some said that this happened after a financial dispute with a Pakistani-American man, others speculated it to be because of her faulty English.
But no one delved into what was really going on and they started making fun of Meera jee as well as her life, and English, cashing on the name.
Seeing this, celebrities jumped in this matter. Armeena Khan, the Bin Roye Actress urged the people to be kind because if this news about Meera being in a mental hospital was true then she needed all the support.

[Update]: To accommodate the millions of Pakistanis, we need to acquire vaccines from every possible avenue. In that regard, Pakistan had been in talks with Germany as well. And now, yesterday, Shah Mahmood Qureshi took to Twitter announcing that Pakistan will be getting 15 million doses of vaccine under COVAX.

[Feb 15, 2021]: Pakistan is bringing in 17 million doses of the COVID vaccine. The AstraZeneca vaccine is said to come to Pakistan before April. The British High Commission has also stated that before June, an additional 10 million doses will also be provided. In total, it is being said to make more than eight million people protected from COVID. This is because each person needs to be administered multiple doses of it to be effective.
The official statements on the ETA of the Vaccine
Asad Umar, Chief of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) wrote in a tweet:
“Good news on COVID vaccine front. Received a letter from COVAX of [an] indicative supply of up to 17 million doses of AstraZeneca in 1st half 2021.”
The minister also said that six million of the total seventeen will be delivered in the month of February only. The initiative is a COVAX program according to which a number of countries will get the vaccine. And Pakistan is to get 17.2 million doses share. The goal of the program is to immunize 3% of the respective countries’ population.
The first dose is 76% effective and the percentage rises up to 82% after the second week if it is given after 12 weeks. More importantly, this vaccine is better for developing countries as it can be stored in normal fridges, kept for up to six months, and is cheaper.
Under the supervision of Dr. Faisal Sultan, the Special Assistant to Prime Minister, experts prepared recommendations for acquiring the COVID vaccine. It was submitted to the Federal Cabinet, where the government discussed how affordable the vaccine should be. The idea was that everyone should have access to the vaccine without discrimination. But on Wednesday, Dr. Nausheen Hamid announced that the cabinet had allocated the initial funds for the vaccine purchase, which will not be just affordable. Instead, it will be free.
Procuring the covid vaccine
Dr. Nausheen Hamid, Parliamentary Secretary National Health Services Regulations and Coordination (NHSRC), was in talks with a local news channel. She told them that the government has been working towards acquiring funding for the vaccine. According to her, it will be made available by the second quarter of 2021, which is a little different from the rumors. Initially, it was supposed to be the first quarter.
She also mentioned that a China-made vaccine for the pandemic is undergoing trials in Pakistan. The trial is already in its third phase. This whole process happening in Pakistan is a very privileged scenario for the country because very few states participate in a landmark achievement for the entire world. She assures that the moment it is proved that the vaccine works, it will be made available.

Dr. Nausheen Hamid elaborating on the government’s effort
In her talks, she mentioned that the government is in discussions with the companies working on vaccine development, and they will be making an informed decision. The factors they will e considering include but are not limited to are safety, side effects, storage, cost, production capacity, and of course, its efficacy.
Parliament Secretary NHRSC said, “The whole world is booking vaccines; we are also in touch with everyone.”
According to her, the vaccine will be available at cheap rates on the COVAX platform for 186 counties, and Pakistan also plans to do the buying from there. She continued to mention that a budget of $100 million has been approved for the vaccine. This, again, is a bit different from earlier news that said a budget of $150 million had been allocated.

She ended the talks by discussing how the continued rallies are a risky move, especially since the country is amid the second, more lethal wave of coronavirus. She urged the media to counsel people mentioning how the government cannot fight this war alone. The most they can do is increase the space in hospitals and gather funding for the vaccine. The people have to give in their input as well.
It is time to ‘act responsibly,’ she said.

It is going by the name of EQS and there is quite a lot that it offers. The company surely is moving forward without much hesitation. The car itself stands in the luxury electric genre, making it the brand’s most expensive one yet!
We are aware that Mercedes has always had a knack for creating robust vehicles. If you ever saw one being driven down the street, you may not be able to steal your gaze away from it. Being charged at a rate of 200 kilowatts gives this car quite a lot of advantages on the market. Its power allows it to give a 480 miles driving capacity. Converting to kilometer, that’s a substantial 772. You can drive from Karachi to Rahim Yar Khan in such a range! Imagine how far this vehicle can go, just by perceiving the above-mentioned route. You can be in Sialkot on one more charge!

There is more to the car than just the technical end, though. It is said to give Tesla a hard time in terms of aesthetics and interior beauty. It may seem that the beautiful designs of Tesla may not be able to hold a candle to the EQS. Mercedes EQS even has a touchscreen, spreading at 53 inches, which can allow you to control every function of the car. While the interior is minimalistic, it gives off an extremely luxurious look. The dashboard and the rest of the car blend into each other so well, you cannot tell one from the other.
For now, the price of the vehicle has not been revealed but it might just cost somewhere near the high end. We all know that the high-end does not really have an end so let us all wait till the price is dropped. We hope that the company continues to do well in the electric domain as it is becoming one of the most vital ones. The future is shifting towards that direction and no one wants to lag behind.

The crossover concept is not one that Ryan may have introduced, but he does employ it in the best possible way. In a Mint Mobile ad, a company that once again Ryan Reynolds has personal stakes in, he employed the concept using the bitcoin phenomenon. Ryan provided the voiceover for a person’s life who is a bitcoin investor. Considering bitcoin is all the rage these days, he used the idea to promote something completely unrelated, a mobile package.

In the new ad, Mint Mobile brings in Match.com’s Satan, who talks about his life joining a wireless network firm. Using Satan’s concept, whose commonly understood traits are soulless, torturing, someone who has an evil mind, Mint Mobile shows the character to fit well at their rival communication network. This way, without even telling what Mint Mobile offers, the ad had marketed the product all the while entertaining the audience.
Reynolds always brings an interesting concept to whatever he does. The idea is always minimalistic, but the way he executes it makes all the difference. And it makes the project hilarious. Remember the crossover where he promoted his Netflix movie, a TV brand, and Aviation Gin all in one?
