Have you seen Samsung’s latest official ad for its Galaxy S22 Ultra and ZFlip4? The new phone is already incredible as it is but the tech company could not have launched it in a better way. It’s always fun when big companies mock each other harmlessly in their advertisements and this one has to be our latest favorite instance:

What Happened?

Next week, Apple will formally introduce the iPhone 14. However, there won’t be any new features or innovations. These are not our own words but Samsung’s! Samsung wants you to think the following in its newest advertisement for the Galaxy S22 Ultra and ZFlip4: “This new technology won’t be available on an iPhone near you.” The company sold its phone to its new users by highlighting its unique features saying none of this is with Apple.

What Does The Ad Say?

The emphasis of Samsung’s latest advertisement is on the unique features of the Galaxy S22 Ultra and ZFlip4. It does it in a way that leads you to believe that the iPhone 14 will include these new features, saying:

“Buckle up for Apple’s latest launch as you enter a world where heads will turn, just not in your direction. Where the highest resolution camera on a smartphone will be in someone else’s pocket. And that epic moonshot that’s getting all the likes won’t be yours. Because this innovation is not coming soon to an iPhone near you. It’s already here in the galaxy.”

Isn’t this harmless, so funny, and interesting? It’s peak marketing and the best part is this isn’t the first time Samsung has done it.

Does Samsung Keep Doing This?

Prior to Apple’s big events and new product debuts, Samsung frequently teases the company. One of Samsung’s most well-known advertising campaigns took place in 2017. That was when the company relentlessly made fun of the iPhone X’s notch, the absence of a headphone jack, and other features. However, Samsung frequently ends up embracing many of the modifications and features that it originally derided Apple for doing. So this is all fun and games!

Be honest, are you also one of those people who saw this ad because of this whole Samsung and Apple fight? It does bring in the views!

Why Do Foldable Phones Recieve Backlash?

Samsung’s foldable phone became the new IT thing ever since it launched last year and turned out to be the proud proprietor of foldable phones, the Samsung Galaxy Flip3.

For those that are unfamiliar, that is a smartphone-sized software that folds in part. While many had been looking forward to such a device ever since the Motorola Razr clamshell of 2004.

The Issue With Foldable Phone

Just over a year of the launch of the Samsung foldable phone the dream of owning the Samsung phone shattered as the ‘fold’ line all at once changed into significantly wider and grew to become silver a few days in the past, the decrease part of the display grew to become inexperienced, the higher part changed into unresponsive, and an ominous black cloud started to develop throughout the display.

“I’m no longer by myself; there are many folks online who’ve had an identical story. One Reddit consumer just lately said that their logo new device shattered after 5 hours.”

According to Samsung, the present iteration must be ready to resist 200,000 folds.

Foldable Phones Durability

The durability of Samsung’s foldable phones has been in question for a long time. Back in 2019, when foldable phones have been debuted with a lot of enthusiasm. There was once a lot of trade hypothesis that this can be the software that will resurrect a stagnant smartphone trade, create a new buzz around handsets, and convince other folks to improve, despite information indicating that they have been keeping directly to their phones for longer, uninspired by means of homogeneous black rectangles.

“I haven’t observed a lot of broken foldable,” says Ben Wood of CCS Insight, “however at a time when other folks in the UK are conserving their phones for 4 years or extra, customers are on the hunt for phones that last more.”

While Samsung claims to have sold over 10 million foldable phones by 2021, and there’s unquestionably a web following for the devices. According to shopper information supplier Statista, Apple sold greater than 49 million iPhones in the best 3 months that very same 12 months. This shows that folding handsets stay a reasonably minor part of the multibillion-dollar smartphone trade and the situation might not change anytime soon.

Here’s What These Cities Are Doing To Protect Themselves From Extreme Heat

The entire world has been facing blistering heat waves. From the United States to Europe and China to Japan, extreme temperatures have soared for weeks, killing hundreds of people, sparking wildfires in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, and Greece and displacing thousands of residents, as many seek refuge in public cooling centres.

Air conditioners might keep the indoors cool, but they only add to the heat outdoors. And in most cases, they are adding to the climate crisis by increasing planet-warming emissions. Public transportation may be unbearable on a hot day, but driving a car that runs on gas instead just worsens traffic, also adding to heat and emissions. A lack of trees means a lack of shade, and buildings made of dark materials bring hotter interiors, which means more air conditioning.

Here’s a look at a few of the more promising ideas that cities around the world have been pursuing to try to beat the heat.

1. Abu Dhabi – Self-Shading Tower Block

Mashrabiya refers to the latticed screens often seen in Islamic architecture, sometimes surrounding a small balcony, that diffuses sunlight and keeps buildings cool without completely blocking light. They are designed to encourage a breeze and offer a spot of respite from the heat within a building. The idea is essentially to stop direct sunlight from landing on a building’s exterior.

That’s what inspired the design of Al Bahar Towers, a 25-story building wrapped in more than 1,000 hexagonal shades with built-in sensors that allow them to respond to the sun’s movements. When the sun hits the shades, they unfold like an umbrella to ward off the heat. Without these measures, the outside of such a building in Abu Dhabi could reach as high as 200 degrees (around 90 Celsius).

2. Paris – Cool Islands

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo has been credited with putting in place some of the world’s most innovative measures to combat the heat, and the city’s heat plan is truly comprehensive.

The main result is a city full of ‘cool islands.’ Parisians can use an app called EXTREMA to guide them to more than 800 cool spots — parks, water fountains and air-conditioned museums, for example — and get there via a naturally cooled walkway. The idea is that a cool island is always at a maximum walking distance of seven minutes for everyone.

3. Vienna – Cooling Trees

Like in much of Europe, many in Vienna don’t have air conditioning, so water is a big part of how the Austrian capital keeps cool.

For those who don’t have time for a dip in the Danube, the city offers cooling parks with mist-spraying “trees” that people can either “shower” in, or just sit near to enjoy the cooler temperatures they bring their surroundings.

4. Miami – Target Heat Traps

Neat Streets Miami, a board convened by the county council, recognized that bus stops had become real danger zones during heat waves, so they planted trees around 10 stops. They wrote a guide on which trees work best and where to plant them so that other areas could replicate the project.

And that they have. There are now 71 green bus stops in the country, most of them by communities that applied to the government for resources to green their bus stops.

5. Rotterdam – Green Rooftops

Planting greenery on rooftops can help cities keep cool. Rotterdam in the Netherlands took the initiative to demonstrate this with the Rotterdam Rooftop Walk. Water storage along with vegetation is expected to reduce the incidence of flooding. The city hopes to green over 900,000 square metres of rooftops.

According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, green roofs can reduce ambient temperatures in a city by up to 15C.

6. Los Angeles – Paint The Town White

This one is a little more controversial. Some cities have experimented with painting rooftops white to reflect sunlight and keep buildings cool, but Los Angeles went a step further and is painting entire roads white. Dark things like asphalt absorb sunlight and emit that energy back into the air as heat. Painting the asphalt white would theoretically nip that process in the bud, and lead to cooler air temperatures.

Here’s How You Can Persuade People To Change Their Behaviour

people change behaviour

Governments recently were tasked with changing people’s behaviors when the pandemic hit. Don’t go out, wear a mask. Directives were everywhere. While all of these changes were for people’s betterment, people are less likely to respond to directives. So, here’s how you can influence people’s behaviors and why directives don’t work:

Read more: Blue Therapy: Here’s How It Can Help Boost Mental Health

Why Don’t Directives Work?

Because we all like to feel in control of our decisions, directives aren’t particularly helpful in causing prolonged behavior change. They work in the short term. Why did I use that service, purchase that item, or carry out that action? Because of personal likes and dislikes.

people change behaviour

Therefore, when someone tries to sway our opinions, we don’t just go along; instead, we resist their persuasion. We do the things people ask us not to do. We avoid following their advice because we don’t want to feel like they are in charge of us. It’s about feeling in control of our decisions and actions.

Ask Questions Instead

The same idea might be expressed as a question, such as, “Do you believe not wearing a mask will not harm anyone?” If someone responds “no,” they are suddenly in a difficult situation. Encouraging everybody to express their viewpoint allows them to set down a marker and declare that such things aren’t good for them. It allows for self-reflection and self-improvement.

Highlight Inconsistencies

people change behaviour

You could also highlight the inconsistency in their beliefs and actions. You could do this by highlighting a gap between people’s ideas and deeds. You can also show them that what they may advise others to do and what they really carry out are very different. This way you might give them a greater sense of independence and power.

Make Your Requests Smaller

Big requests and substantial ones are frequently declined. They enter what scientists refer to as “the area of rejection” and are rejected because they are so different from what people are doing at the moment. You can’t ask somebody addicted to something to drop it the same day. Instead, ask them to reduce their daily intake for example!

people change behaviour

It would be preferable to scale back the first request. Ask for less at first, then more later. Divide a challenging request into smaller, more manageable portions.

The headsets were large and expensive. Moreover, it is expensive and takes talented engineers to create efficient virtual learning environments.

Zuckerberg has offered ten institutions free admission to the metaverse this autumn as part of Meta, the parent company of Facebook. One of these universities is the University of Maryland Global Campus. It is the only university that takes in more than 45,000 undergraduate students to attend the online-only institution. As a university, it lacks physical classrooms or student life areas. The new project by meta has lent numerous headsets to them too.

What’s The Campus Like?

The virtual campus is clearly a college campus and was created by VictoryXR. It has an extended reality education software firm headquartered in Davenport, Iowa. There are white-columned Georgian-style buildings encircle a lush lawn that is vivid green. Two mallard ducks are chasing a pond in the middle. If you have the stomach for it, you can enjoy a ride on a rope swing that hangs from a tree.

Does this project sound like something you’d be up for? It seems in the near future, the next generation could be studying in this way entirely.

7 Common Myths About Entrepreneurs That Aren’t True

Roughly, one in every 18 people owns their own business. Some step into the shoes of entrepreneurs to pursue opportunities, while others — including those in developing countries — do so out of sheer necessity, because it’s one of the most promising ways to earn a living.

Entrepreneurship is a dream for millions of people around the world. However, it comes with its own set of myths and misconceptions. If you have decided to take the plunge busting these myths is a good way to start.

Take a look at some of the things you might need to unlearn before starting your own business.

1. Entrepreneurs Are Born Not Made

Many people believe that entrepreneurs possess innate, genetic talents. However, experts generally agree that most entrepreneurs were not born; they learned to become entrepreneurs. The recent proliferation of college and university courses on the subject supports this point. Entrepreneurship is currently being successfully taught. While there might be a few factors involved, however, almost anyone can be a successful entrepreneur.

2. Entrepreneurs Do It For The Money

While money could be a motivating factor, however, the most common reason that entrepreneurs start businesses is independence — the ability to create something they can call their own instead of working for someone else. Entrepreneurs want to control their destinies and their working hours.

3. Own Business = Freedom

While the thrill of breaking out of the traditional, 40-hour work week can be a motivating factor behind starting their own business. However, in a majority of cases, the old schedules and creative limitations are exchanged with new demands. Sure, there will be more freedom in some respects, but entrepreneurism often requires great sacrifices. It can consume every part of your waking life; the work doesn’t end when the clock strikes 5 p.m.

4. You Have To Be Young

Entrepreneurship is for all ages! You can start however late or early you want. You do not have to be young to be a successful entrepreneur. A Global Entrepreneurship Monitor report found that the number of older adults who are self-employed outweighs that of young adults.

5. Entrepreneurs Have Limited Dedication

It is a common myth that entrepreneurs are not dedicated to any one thing. Dedication is an attribute that all successful entrepreneurs exhibit. They are dedicated to becoming their boss. To this end, they’ll work day and night to make their business succeed.

6. They Need To Trust Their Gut

The business world is full of stories of wealthy entrepreneurs who have achieved fame by trusting their intuition despite what other people thought.

However, the reality is far more complex. It is fundamental to listen to clients and value constructive feedback. There is always a way of improving and, sometimes, what we think of as genius ideas are not that brilliant.

7. They Are Risk Takers

The myth says that business people are addicted to taking risks, but in reality, the most successful people on the planet are very good at calculating risks.

The story of Bill Gates is a bit more complex than the entrepreneurial legend we are often been told. Bill Gates indeed dropped out of Harvard, but he did it when it was relatively safe to do so. He started selling software programs and applied for a leave of absence, which was approved by the university. Only after the initial success, did he decide to leave his studies and focus on his business.

Most original design and best sound quality meet HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick

Wireless earphones have come a long way in the past decade. It has come to the point that it doesn’t make sense to use wired earphones for everyday things like answering calls or listening to music. The sound quality of newer wireless earphones is on par with wired earphones. On top of that, they free you from the dreaded coiled up mess of wires.

The lack of wires gives a whole new level of opportunity to create stunning fashion statements out of earphones. Women, especially, want more than just good sounding pair of earbuds. They also want something glamorous. Something that can be a part of their identity. It is a high bar that many earbuds brands have tried to achieve. Sometimes when earbuds that focus on style, they fail miserably in sound quality. That is, until now.

Huawei recently announced the whole new HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick in Pakistan. The HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick redefines what wireless earbuds can be with a luxury design and bleeding-edge technology. This result is an earbud that is beautiful to look at and also sounds excellent. Without a doubt, it is going to be a game-changer and would be the ultimate fashion and tech accessory for most women. It packs all the features that you would ever want in wireless earbuds, such as a stunning lipstick design, top open-fit noise cancellation, studio-quality sound, and smart connectivity.

Lipstick design speaks of luxury and craftsmanship

The new lipstick-inspired design of the HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick is a breath of fresh air. The first thing you would notice about the earbuds is the luxurious squared-off design of the charging case. Mystery black and luxury gold combination work great on the case. It would be hard to tell it apart from a real lipstick tube if you look at it with the lid closed. The red earbuds inside it only add to the beauty.

The stainless-steel casing is manually polished to a smooth mirror finish that screams luxury. The edges of the case have been carefully machined to make it smooth to touch. Who would have thought that something as simple as earbuds could look so gorgeous? The case even has a satisfying click to it when you close.

The design was developed by Huawei’s research center in Paris, the fashion capital of the world. So, it’s no wonder that it looks magnificent. The shape and size of the case make it easy to carry it inside a handbag. It will blend into your outfit and accessories. In fact, the earbuds themselves can be a tech accessory that enhances your style.

Open-fit Active Noise Cancellation

Traditionally, wireless earbuds with ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) have in-ear designs. That’s because achieving noise cancellation is tricky for open-fit earbuds. However, the HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick has achieved a steady level of noise cancellation even with an open-fit design. You get all the benefits of earbuds with noise cancellation without sealing the ears.

HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick makes use of dual-microphone noise cancellation. This setup identifies noise from the environment and intelligently cancels the noise from reaching your ears. It will also automatically select the most suitable set of noise cancellation parameters from more than 10 sets of them for users.

Studio-quality sound with ultra-light Air-like comfort

One question that is on everyone’s mind would be, well, how does it sound? The short answer is fantastic. The HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick features 14.3 mm drivers, which can deliver deep bass and clear highs. It has one of the largest drivers in its class. So, you will feel like there are woofers placed around your head.

The actual sound that a person hears is also affected by the shape of the ear and the way it is worn. Huawei’s Adaptive Ear-Matching technology modifies the sound so that you can listen to your music just the way the artist recorded it. The Bass enhancement engine can add an extra punch to the lower frequencies if that is what you prefer. It is rare for earbuds to handle both lows and highs with such finesse as the HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick.

The HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick only weighs 4.1 g. So, it is unlikely to accidentally fall off from the ears. You can probably wear them all day long and feel nothing.

Smart connectivity and AI-powered features

Thanks to the intelligent audio connection, switching between devices is seamless. You can connect the earbuds to two devices at the same time. This feature works across all major platforms, including Windows, Android, and iOS. Using the HUAWEI AI Life app, you can switch between devices easily.

Use your HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick to control how you listen to your music and take calls via simple, intuitive gesture controls that can be used on either earbud. You can access all the basic controls without taking the phone out of your pocket. Taping twice will answer a call or play music. A long press on the earbud will toggle between ANC On and ANC Off or reject calls. Swipe up or down to raise or lower the volume. Apart from these, you can add custom control gestures using the app.

The HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick is an amazing combination of design and technology. Praised by many for its sleek design, outstanding Open-fit Active Noise Cancellation, silky smooth sound, and air-like wearing comfort. It is a must have this season.

What’s Happening?

Rana Sanaullah, the federal minister of interior, has introduced NADRA Biker Service for efficiency. He has created this service to handle all CNIC applications for renewal and alteration at the applicant’s doorstep. The NADRA Headquarters in Islamabad hosted the inaugural ceremony just recently for it.

About The Floods

In addition to that, at the ceremony, the Interior Minister was informed about NADRA operations in Sindh, Baluchistan, and South Punjab, which have been severely devastated by disastrous floods.

The monsoon rains and floods have severely damaged the majority of NRC facilities. Majority of NRC facilities are now submerged in water. The chairman also reported that 150 NADRA employees’ homes in those locations had suffered damage. NADRA Chairman informed the Minister during the briefing that more than 37 million people have been severely affected too.

How Is This Related?

The problem was that the loss of CNICs of those affected by the flooding and severe rains in some places had prevented them from accessing government relief funds and other relief initiatives. The Chairman and the Minister are thus working on bringing some solutions to the flood victims.

More About The Bike Service

Mr. Malik also stated that the pilot phase of the biker service would initially be launched in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. However, by the end of the year, this service will be available in all the cities in Pakistan.

The online services were recently offered. However, the chairman of NADRA wanted to take it to the next level. He informed the minister that a home-based NADRA’s Biker service is essentially a mobile NADRA Center that will enter peoples’ lounges and register them there, sparing them the inconvenience of traveling to a NADRA centre. Here’s the best part: female registration officers doing this service will likewise register women only. These women will also come on scooties!

Study Shows You Maybe ‘Aging’ Faster Than You Think – Here’s Why

A new study has changed the way we look at screens (pun intended) and it is worth a read. Scientists have discovered that the blue lights from screens may be the cause of aging faster and reduced cognitive abilities. Concerned yet? Here’s everything you need to know:

What Is The Study?

According to a recent study, excessive blue light from electronic devices like cellphones, computers, and televisions can accelerate aging. Researchers discovered that exposure to light may potentially also increase the chances of developing obesity and psychiatric issues.

The press release said, “Excessive exposure to blue light from everyday devices, such as TVs, laptops, and phones, may have detrimental effects on a wide range of cells in our body.” This study is the first to demonstrate that fruit flies exposed to blue light have changed amounts of certain metabolites, molecules necessary for proper cell activity.

Fruit Flies Experiment

Fruit flies were used in the experiment. The research team found that the light from screens had an impact on them too and it was the same for humans. This is important since there are cellular similarities between humans and flies therefore, they were a good test subject.

study aging faster

The scientists examined the amounts of metabolites in flies exposed to blue light for two weeks. The control group was kept in full darkness to better understand why high-energy blue light fastens aging in fruit flies.

What Was Found?

The team found that the cells in fruit flies don’t function optimally after exposure. They started facing premature death. An examination of the cells in the flies’ brains revealed that the levels of one metabolite, succinate, increased, while glutamate levels dropped.

study aging faster

Here’s more information. Succinate is essential for producing the fuel for the function and growth of each cell. High levels of succinate after exposure to blue light is like gas being in the pump but not getting into the car. Moreover, another concerning discovery was that molecules responsible for communication between neurons, such as glutamate, are at a lower level after blue light exposure. This means reduced brain function after exposure to blue light.

What To Do?

The study has so far said that further research needs to be done on this. Until then, they recommend that you avoid excessive use of blue light.
