Shell Pakistan Builds Road In Karachi Using Its Recycled Plastic

Pakistan, Karachi: July 3, 2023 – Shell Pakistan introduces a plastic infused road in Karachi by recycling discarded Shell lubricant bottles. The organization collaborated with start-up BRR Enterprises and local authority District Municipal Corporation South to construct the road, which helps reduce plastic waste materials and promote environment friendly practices.

Over 2.5 tons of discarded Shell lubricant bottles were recycled for the construction of a 730 feet long and 60 feet wide road on which Shell House is located in Karachi. The discarded Shell lubricant’s plastic bottles were incorporated in the construction of the asphalt road using the dry process method, reducing plastic waste. Plastics pose threat to nature by being non-biodegradable and toxic. According to research, a simple plastic bag can take up to 500 years to decompose while a plastic bottle can take around 300 years.

Plastic roads offer higher flexibility, durability and a lifespan almost three times longer than regular roads. Moreover, the construction materials for regular roads are more expensive, whereas plastics are practically free, taking down construction costs by several folds. The innovation is considerably more sustainable.  And most importantly it contributes to helping our social problem of plastic waste.

The Chief Executive and Managing Director of Shell Pakistan Limited, Waqar Siddiqui, inaugurated the newly built road in Karachi and stated, “This is the first time we have used our discarded lubricants bottles to make a road and I’m amazed to see the result. This innovative method helps reduce plastic waste and can provide an environmentally friendly option for future infrastructure projects in Pakistan. Innovative solutions such as this need to be tried and tested, and I hope will be adopted to contribute to building a cleaner society.”

Shell provides energy in a responsible way: we aim to limit any impact on the environment and support the transition towards a lower-carbon future. We recognise the importance of climate change, along with our role in helping people to achieve and maintain a good quality of life.

Finance Bill 2023: Estimated Car Prices Of Imported Cars

Source: Pakwheels

The Finance Bill 2023 has introduced new taxes on cars with engine capacities over 2001cc. These taxes are aimed at broadening the tax base of the country, as directed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The new taxes are as follows:

  • Cars with engine capacities ranging from 2001cc to 2500cc will face a 6% tax on their value.
  • Vehicles with engine capacities between 2501cc and 3000cc will be subject to an 8% tax.
  • Those exceeding 3000cc will face a 10% tax based on their value.

The taxes will be calculated based on the import value of cars with engine capacities exceeding 2001cc. This import value will be used to calculate the applicable Customs Duty, Federal Excise Duty (FED), and Sales tax. Both Completely Built-up (CBU) and locally assembled cars with engine capacities above 2001cc will have their invoice value, including all duties and taxes, considered for tax calculation.

Additionally, if the engine capacity is not relevant, and the value of vehicles is Rs. 5 million or higher, a tax rate of 3% will be imposed on the import value (including revised Customs Duty, FED, and Sales tax for imported vehicles) or the invoice value (for locally assembled vehicles).

Tax provision for registration

The Finance Bill 2023 also includes provisions for taxes during the registration process and the sale of motor cars or jeeps. If a locally manufactured vehicle is sold by the original purchaser before registration. The motor vehicle registering authority will levy taxes at the specified rates during the registration process. Manufacturers of motor vehicles are required to collect advance taxes from buyers. But only at the specified rate during the sale of cars or jeeps.

One of the major concerns arising from the Finance Bill 2023 is the expected price hike for imported cars. According to the provided table, the jump in prices can be significant. For instance, the Hyundai Staria 2.2D A/T with an engine capacity of 2199cc is expected to face a 6% tax, resulting in an additional cost of Rs. 534,540. Similarly, the Toyota Prado TX 2.8 D MT with an engine capacity of 2755cc will bear an 8% tax, amounting to Rs. 4,728,720. The Kia Grand Carnival Executive, with a capacity of 3470cc, will be subject to a 10% tax, leading to an additional expense of Rs. 1,675,000.

Expected intevrention for the industry

It’s important to note that these calculations are based on available information and there may be changes after the official announcement from car companies. Thus, potential car buyers should stay updated with the latest developments and consult official sources for accurate information on prices.

The Finance Bill 2023 has undoubtedly stirred discussions within the auto industry. While it aims to expand the tax net and generate revenue for the country, it may also lead to price increases for certain imported vehicles. It remains to be seen how these new taxes will impact the overall automobile market and consumer behavior in the coming months.

Pakistani Actors Banned In India But Not The Songs?

In 2016, following the Uri attack in Indian-administered Kashmir, the Indian government banned Pakistani artists from working in India. This ban has been in place ever since, and it has affected a number of popular Pakistani actors, including Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, and Ali Zafar. Now this has definitely disappointed fans across the border since Indian fans always have a different type of love for Pakistani film and drama content. But there is a twist since not everything Pakistani has been banned in India.

Bollywood’s Obsession With Pakistani Music

However, the ban does not apply to Pakistani music. Pakistani songs are still played on Indian radio stations and are still available on streaming services. This has led to some confusion and debate, with some people questioning why Pakistani actors are banned but not Pakistani singers.

For example, the Pakistani famous song Pasoori by Ali Sethi and Shae Gill became a global hit, And now, the Bollywood film Sathyaprem Ki Katha has now come out with their version which is almost the same yet with the slightest difference. Here have a look.

Similarly, a while back, the Netflix Bollywood film, Action Hero, also copied one of Pakistan’s most iconic songs by Nazia Hassan, “Ap Jaisa Koi”. Have a look at that too.

Possible Reasons

There are a few possible explanations for this discrepancy. One possibility is that the Indian government is trying to make a distinction between art and politics. Pakistani actors are often seen as being more political than Pakistani singers, and the Indian government may be trying to avoid the controversy that could arise from allowing Pakistani actors to work in India.

Another possibility is that the Indian government is simply trying to protect its own film industry. The Indian film industry is one of the largest in the world, and it generates billions of dollars in revenue each year. The Indian government may be worried that if Pakistani actors are allowed to work in India, they will take away jobs from Indian actors. This is what Rabya Kulsoom also mentioned in her recent Instagram posts.

The ban on Pakistani actors has been a controversial issue. Some people believe that the ban is unfair and discriminatory, while others believe that it is necessary to protect India’s national security. There is no easy answer to this question, and it is likely to remain a source of debate for some time to come. However, one thing is clear and that’s the ban on Pakistani actors has had a significant impact on the Indian film industry and on the careers of many talented Pakistani artists.

Political Tensions

In addition to the reasons mentioned above, there are also some cultural factors that may be at play. In India, there is a long history of suspicion and distrust of Pakistan. This is due to a number of factors, including the two countries shared border, the ongoing Kashmir conflict, and the history of cross-border terrorism.

As a result of this distrust, some Indians may be reluctant to see Pakistani actors on their screens. They may worry that these actors will promote Pakistani culture or even spread propaganda. This is why the Indian government may be hesitant to lift the ban on Pakistani actors, even if it would be beneficial to the Indian film industry.

Ultimately, the decision of whether or not to lift the ban on Pakistani actors is a political one. It is a decision that will be made by the Indian government, and it will be based on a number of factors, including national security, economic considerations, and cultural sensitivities.

Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the garlic turns golden and fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
  3. Toss the pasta: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the garlic and red pepper flakes. Toss well to coat the pasta evenly with the oil. Google Pixel Fold: Beating Samsung For Top Foldable Phone?

Google Pixel Fold: Beating Samsung For Top Foldable Phone?
Source: The Keywood

Google has entered the foldable phone market with the Google Pixel Fold, and it has surpassed Samsung’s offerings. The Pixel Fold has a stellar front display, exceptional camera system, intuitive multitasking capabilities, and a higher price tag of $1,800.

Toppling the Reigning Champion

For some time, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series held the throne in the foldable phone category. However, the Google Pixel Fold has emerged as a strong contender, knocking the Galaxy Z Fold 4 off its pedestal.

A Wider and Brighter Front Display

One standout feature of the Google Pixel Fold is its wider aspect ratio on the front display compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Despite having a smaller cover display, the Pixel Fold offers a more comfortable user experience, as apps are easier to navigate without needing to unfold the phone. Additionally, the Pixel Fold boasts a brighter cover display, reaching 1,172 nits of brightness in lab tests, compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 4’s 870 nits.

Superior Camera Capabilities

The Pixel Fold’s camera system lives up to the high standards set by Google’s Pixel lineup. Competing against the likes of the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which tops the list of best camera phones, the Pixel Fold emerges victorious in many aspects. Low-light photography, for instance, demonstrates the Pixel Fold’s prowess, capturing brighter images with greater detail and color accuracy compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 4. The Pixel Fold also boasts a powerful 5x telephoto zoom lens, although it falls behind Samsung in terms of macro photography. Nevertheless, the overall camera performance of the Pixel Fold is exceptional.

Sleek and Gapless Design

When it comes to design, the Google Pixel Fold stands out with its slim profile among book-style foldable phones. Measuring just 0.2 inches thick when open, it provides a comfortable grip when utilizing the large 7.6-inch internal display. Although slightly heavier at 10 ounces compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 4’s 9.28 ounces, the Pixel Fold compensates with its lack of a visible gap when closed. This design feature prevents debris from entering the phone when stored in a pocket or bag and enhances its overall aesthetic appeal. In addition, the Pixel Fold’s hinge operates smoothly and silently, in contrast to the creaking experience reported by some users of the Z Fold 4.

Extended Battery Life

Despite receiving some complaints regarding battery life, the Google Pixel Fold has performed admirably during my testing. In the Tom’s Guide Battery test, which involves continuous web surfing over 5G, the Pixel Fold achieved an impressive duration of 10 hours and 21 minutes on the main display with a 60Hz refresh rate. In comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 lasted 9 hours and 17 minutes under the same settings. The Pixel Fold’s longer endurance offers users an extra hour of usage, a significant advantage when it comes to all-day productivity and enjoyment.

Pros

  • Wider and brighter front display
  • Exceptional camera capabilities
  • Sleek and gapless design
  • Extended battery life

Cons

  • High price tag
  • Some complaints about battery life

With the introduction of the Google Pixel Fold, the landscape of foldable phones has undergone a seismic shift. Outperforming Samsung’s flagship foldable device, the Pixel Fold impresses with its wider and brighter front display, exceptional camera capabilities, sleek design, and extended battery life. While the Galaxy Z Fold 5 may bring new improvements, the Google Pixel Fold’s current standing as the top foldable phone is well-deserved. As the market evolves, the Pixel Fold’s success underscores the intense competition and innovation in the realm of foldable devices, ultimately benefiting consumers with more advanced and exciting options.

Gol Gappa Ice cream – A Foodie’s Dream Or Nightmare?

Gol gappay is everyone’s favorite street food and if you are not a gol gappa or pani puri fan, we think you’ve never had one. After shopping in busy markets, gol gappay is the first thing on every person’s mind. But the standard sweet and sour gol gappayGol-Gappay is being taken over by ice cream and we have mixed emotions after looking at these.

Ice Cream Gol Gappa- Hit Or Miss?

While ice cream is a dessert often enjoyed alone, foodies often try it with several other desserts. While the combination of ice cream with other desserts is often delicious, it doesn’t pair as well with savory treats. However, a vendor in India is serving Ice cream gol gappas and by the looks of it – it sure is a miss.

Ice cream gol gappa combined the crispy texture of gol gappa with the creamy and cold taste of ice cream. To make this unique treat, the traditional puris are filled with a scoop of ice cream instead of the usual water and chutney mixture. The result is a combination of sweet and savory flavors, as well as a contrast in temperatures.

While gol gappa ice cream is a no-go but the way the snack is prepared matters a lot. In this particular video, the vendor is topping the ice cream with a mixture of savory snacks. However, in our opinion, the ice cream would’ve tasted much better with a few choco and brownie bits on top. Meanwhile, the crunchy texture of gol gappa can also be enhanced with some chocolate drizzled on top. China Is Offering Fully-Funded Scholarships For Pakistani Students

Source: startup PK

Nanjing University of Information Sciences and Technology (NUIST) has taken a commendable step towards assisting Pakistani students in developing their research capacity to address the urgent climate crisis. In collaboration with various Pakistani institutions, NUIST is offering fully funded scholarships in the field of Climate Change and Environmental Governance. This initiative aims to equip young scientists with the knowledge and skills necessary to combat climate change and its detrimental effects on Pakistan’s environment and population.

Collaborative Efforts

Confirming the news, Professor Dr. Tong Jiang, Executive Director for the Research Institute of Climatic and Environmental Governance at NUIST, highlighted the institution’s commitment to this cause. NUIST has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) to foster scientific research collaboration and facilitate the exchange of students and faculty. Additionally, NUIST is expanding its research cooperation with other renowned Pakistani universities, including Quaid-e-Azam University, COMSATS University Islamabad, and the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

Research Opportunities and Focus

The fully funded scholarships offered by NUIST provide Pakistani students with the opportunity to engage in groundbreaking research related to climate change and environmental governance. Dr. Jiang emphasized that the program welcomes young scientists specializing in climate change and climate risk studies from Pakistani universities. These students will be admitted to NUIST to conduct research on pressing issues such as water shortage and tipping points caused by climate change.

Water Shortage and Climate Change

Pakistan has been grappling with an increasing water shortage, as reported by the United Nations. The depletion of water resources can be attributed to various factors, including population growth and deficiencies in water management mechanisms. Given that Pakistan’s economy heavily relies on agriculture, water scarcity poses a significant challenge to the country. NUIST’s research will focus on developing strategies to mitigate the impacts of climate change and reduce water shortages, helping safeguard Pakistan’s agricultural sector and its overall economic stability.

Air Pollution and Smog

Dr. Jiang also addressed the critical issue of air pollution and smog, which contribute to Pakistan’s deteriorating air quality. Industrial emissions, vehicular emissions, domestic emissions, construction-related dust emissions, smoke from brick kilns, and soot from burning agricultural waste are among the major causes of poor air quality. To combat this, he suggested several solutions, including relocating industries from cities to designated industrial areas, transitioning to renewable energy systems, promoting affordable public transportation, implementing large-scale tree plantation drives, and improving livestock and waste management practices in urban areas.

By collaborating with esteemed Pakistani institutions, NUIST is fostering research collaboration and knowledge exchange to address critical environmental challenges faced by Pakistan.

Through research and innovation, the scholarship recipients will play a crucial role in developing sustainable solutions to water scarcity, air pollution, and other climate-related issues. This initiative will not only benefit Pakistan but also contribute to the global fight against climate change, underscoring the importance of international cooperation in addressing this pressing global challenge.

“Is she high?” Alizeh Shah’s Recent Video Is Raising Eyebrows

"Is she high?" Alizeh Shah's Recent Video Is Raising Eyebrows

Alizeh Shah the young, fun-loving, bright star is one of the most aspiring yet bashed actresses in the industry. This is mainly because of her alleged plastic surgeries and the way she changed her appearance drastically. She was criticized for losing weight and becoming skinnier than ever.

She then proceeded to get procedures and enhancements done to her face giving her a more Korean Japanese look which further agitated the “moral police” of Pakistan. Fans told her that she was doing immoral and indecent things. However, many argue that she’s just enjoying her life and maybe doesn’t deserve all the negativity she gets.

Image Souce: Daily Ausaf

This is one of her earlier pictures from when she was just a newbie in the Pakistani film and drama industry. This is how she looks now.

Now some people may like the old her and some may like the new her and that totally everyone’s own opinion. But her actions are what people don’t like about her which is why her recent video has been making rounds on the internet. Here watch the video.

She can be seen in a white tank top and white sheer net robe with a black corset where she is just in a silly goofy mood and is dancing. Little did she know that she would offend so many people. Fans called her out for her scanty attire and her dancing like a “crazy” person. But can only crazy people dance?

Now this can be a total matter of opinion but many people argue that she is just a fun-loving and energetic person and that people on the internet should have more tolerance rather than bashing someone for their life choices. What a girl wears is no one’s opinion but Pakistan fans definitely have an opinion that they also like to vocalize all the time. Here’s what fans had to say.

Comments From The Post

Does Makeup Define Age In The Industry?

People watching the show “Baby Baji” think that Aina Asif, a young actress, doesn’t look good with heavy makeup. Aina became famous when she was only thirteen years old for her role in the drama “Hum Tum.” She has also acted in other popular dramas like “Pinjra” and “Pehchan”.

Aina has a lot of followers on social media because of her performances in popular TV shows. But does makeup really define a girl’s age? Yes, makeup can sometimes make you look older or younger depending on the look that you’re going for. For example, Aina looks way younger on her Instagram than she does on television dramas.

Baby Baji

In “Baby Baji,” Aina plays the character of Saman, a young girl who is very much involved with her neighbor’s family. She loves a boy named Waleed and wants to marry him. Some viewers think that both Aina and Fazal, who plays Waleed, look too young to portray characters in a romantic relationship. Fans even criticized the team for showing young love on television. They also noticed that Aina Asif, who is still young, wears too much makeup and looks older than her age.

Some people on social media think that Aina wears heavy makeup because she wants to play a lead role. Many even advised her not to waste her innocence by acting in mature roles. Fans questioned why Aina, who is just a child, wears so much makeup. They said that she is only fifteen and is a minor but looks like she’s in her twenties because of her makeup and the mature characters that she portrays.

Here have a look at some of the things people had to say.

Now, Aina is definitely a very confident and talented young lady and definitely deserves all the praise she gets. But if she wears “loud” makeup for a role, is it her fault and does she deserve all the negativity? Or is it just a requirement for her role? Regardless of all of this, people need to understand that makeup is a form of art and not an age marker. It simply helps one get into character, feel better about themselves, or is just a necessity when you’re in showbiz. Maybe people on the internet really need to cool off.
