5 Tips To Keep Your Smartphone Running For Years

smartphone care and long running

Just like your car, your smartphone also has a limited life. However, that life can be elongated if it is cared for. If you take good care of your smartphone and protect it from the elements and other damage, it is sure to give you years.

Even though smartphones are released every month with newer features and better qualities, you might still want yours to last longer. Who wants to spend on a new phone after every few months? That said, let us tell you about the tips that can make your phone last for years!

1. Use Appropriate Protectors

When using a smartphone, it can be prone to falls or damages. Make sure to use glass protectors for the screen and back protectors for the entire phone itself. You don’t want the screen of the phone to shatter, crack or develop dead pixels on it. That can be quite a nuisance.

2. Charge it Timely

It is always recommended to charge your phone when the battery is not completely depleted. It takes more effort for the battery to charge from zero than from a percentage. Additionally, newer phones can stay plugged in even when full charged but that does not mean you forget to take it off for hours. Timely battery charging gives it a long life.

3. Use Quality Chargers and Cables

If you tend to keep your phone charged on a cheap cable or a charger, then it might damage your phone’s battery over time. Low-quality cables can even get heated up with prolonged charging, and they can even catch fire too. Additionally, cables with cheap quality connectors can damage the charging jack of your phone too.

4. Keep The Smartphone Clutter-free

The more the storage you fill in your smartphone, the more it uses its computing power. If you are operating a phone with a storage filled more than 90%, it is going to slow down with time. Not only that, but when you do clear the space, it will stay slowed down. If you want to make sure your phone runs longer, always keep adequate storage in it.

5. Avoid Extreme Temperatures

Living in Karachi can be quite taxing for the smartphone itself. You might not always want to take it out of your pocket on hot days. Avoid elongated use on bright and heat-filled days and look for shade to use when you can. Even the brightness is increased to the fullest when using in sunlight so that puts a strain on the phone too.

Heeding to these tips can certainly help keep your smartphone on you for years to come.

5 Ways That Newer Cars Are Better Than Older Cars

older ones worse than newer ones

When it comes to cars, people are often tangled in quite a lot of debates. These debates encompass comparisons between brands or performance parts. One of the biggest debates is when people compare older cars with newer ones.

You might find a lot of people saying that cars are not made like they used to be. You might hear them say that the quality of cars has declined. On the other hand, you might also hear people talking in favor of newer cars as opposed to older ones. However, if we weigh the pros and cons side by side, it is apparent that newer vehicles do hold quite a lot of advantage.

Let us take a look at why newer cars are better than older cars.

1. The Safety Metrics of Cars

When it comes to older vehicles, people often say that they had a harder exoskeleton and could survive a lot of damage. They say that the build quality was superior and used better materials. However, we now know that older cars, while built with heavier material, certainly did not hold well for the passenger. The car may be saved from damage but the passenger was not. Modern vehicles focus on passenger safety and even have crumple zones on the car.

2. Fuel Efficiency

As years went forward, better technology was introduced. A sturdy car from the 80s or the 90s might not be able to provide as much fuel efficiency due to old technology. Electronic Fuel Injection is more efficient to old-school carburetors. Similarly, engine manufacturing has gotten more efficient, with smaller engines burning fuel much better. You do not need an old car with a big engine to be fuel efficient.

3. Lack of Features in Cars

Since the focus of modern vehicles is passenger safety, they have introduced features in them that are not in older ones. Features like anti-lock braking system, lane-assist, and many more have made it much easier to move around in vehicles. Not only that, but these features lets the driver access every aspect of the vehicle while driving. Even cars from 80s and 90s are superior to the ones from 50s and 60s, which did not even have proper seatbelts.

4. Engine Power

You might be quite surprised to see how much power a small 660cc engine can produce. It has a better efficiency that older bigger 2-liter engines. Yes, manufacturing has made power production more efficient, letting vehicles run for longer on more compact engines.

5. Improved Comfort in Cars

Older cars make it feel like you are sitting on a slab of wood. Only the luxurious ones of that time make a person feel like they were sitting in comfort. In comparison, even the mid-range cars of today provide more comfort than most cars did back in that time.

Wasim, Misbah, Malik Advocate For Expanded World Cup Squads

wasim-misbah-malik-advocate-for-expanded-world-cup-squads

Former Pakistan cricketers, including Wasim Akram, Misbah-ul-Haq, and Shoaib Malik, have discussed the possibility of increasing the number of players in squads for teams competing in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023.

The conversation began with Akram questioning whether 15-member squads are sufficient for a tournament of this length and intensity, especially considering the hot weather conditions. He pointed out that in places like Chennai, where the temperature reaches 30 degrees, it can feel like 36 degrees.

In response, Malik advocated for a minimum of 18 players in World Cup squads. He emphasized the need to adapt the rules to the demands of such a long tournament. Moreover, he cited the example of New Zealand, which faced challenges due to injuries.

Misbah weighed in, suggesting that the squad size should be at least 16. He emphasized that it’s not only injuries that should be considered but also a player’s form. Misbah highlighted the current struggle of the Pakistan team in the spin department. He shed light on the fact that there is a capable spinner, Abrar Ahmed, who is not being utilized because he is named as a reserve player.

Injury Woes during ICC World Cup 2023

The ICC World Cup 2023 has seen a significant number of injuries affecting various teams. New Zealand, for instance, has had key players like captain Kane Williamson, pace bowlers Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson, and all-rounder Mark Chapman sidelined due to various injuries. Similarly, Australia’s Glenn Maxwell was ruled out of a match after suffering a concussion in a non-cricketing incident.

Sri Lanka has also had to make multiple changes to their 15-player squad due to injuries, with Dushmantha Chameera, Chamika Karunaratne, and Angelo Mathews being brought in to replace injured players – Dasun Shanaka (quad), Lahiru Kumara (thigh) and Matheesha Pathirana (shoulder).

Overall, the discussion highlights the physical toll and challenges that players face in such a prolonged and demanding tournament. The former cricketers believe that expanding squad sizes could be a practical solution to address these issues effectively.

rashid-latif-responds-over-allegation-of-slapping-javed-miandad

Former Pakistani cricketer Rashid Latif has sent a legal notice to PJ Mir, a former cricketer turned journalist, who claimed on live television that Latif once slapped legendary cricketer Javed Miandad in Antigua back in 1993.

During a live show on a local news channel, PJ Mir asserted that Latif had a heated altercation with Miandad in the dressing room during Pakistan’s 1993 tour of the West Indies. This revelation surprised former internationals Shahid Afridi and Mushtaq Ahmed, who were also present on the panel at the time.

“I witnessed rivalry within the team during the 1993 tour of West Indies. I flew from London to Antigua and talked to the then team manager Khaled Mahmud to not give any statement on the dressing room atmosphere. A couple of cricketers even sold their account for 10,000 pounds to the Sun. And inside Rashid Latif slapped Javed Miandad and I saw him sitting outside. I felt bad for him but advised him to forget it,” stated Mir.

Rashid Latif responded to allegations of slapping Javed Miandad

In response, Rashid Latif took legal action to defend his reputation against Mir’s damaging statements. He issued a legal notice demanding an unconditional apology within 14 days, warning that failure to comply would result in a fine of 1 billion INR.

The 55-year-old Rashid Latif took to X (formerly Twitter) to emphasize that he never raised his hand or voice against Javed Miandad. He holds immense respect for the Pakistani legend, who has represented Pakistan in six World Cups.

“I never slapped or even raised my voice in front of legendary Javed Miandad. Javed Bhai is not only a legend of Cricket (an ICC Hall of Famer), he is a national hero and pride of Pakistan. I was honored to debut for Pakistan under his captaincy. He is an institution of Cricket and I have learnt a lot from him. I respect him like a father. Through my attorney, I have served a legal notice to Mr PJ Mir to tender unconditional apology and appropriate retraction within 14 days, pertaining to frivolous comments passed about me and Javed bhai,” posted Rashid Latif.

Wasim Jr. Credits Naseem Shah For His Performance In The World Cup 2023

Pakistan paceman, Mohammad Wasim Jr., disclosed that the sidelined Naseem Shah provided valuable insights that influenced Pakistan’s performance in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 in India.

Wasim expressed the significance of Naseem’s guidance in matches against South Africa and Bangladesh.

He stated, “We are definitely missing Naseem Shah. I spoke to Naseem before Pakistan’s match against South Africa as well as Bangladesh. He advised me about how to bowl on these pitches which helped me. Naseem’s tips were really helpful for me.”

Wasim Jr. has achieved notable success, securing five wickets across two matches in the ongoing World Cup. He delivered figures of 2-50 against South Africa and 3-31 against Bangladesh. In the wake of Naseem Shah’s injury during the Asia Cup 2023, Hasan Ali took his place in Pakistan’s squad for the World Cup.

Notably, South Africa’s resounding 190-run victory over New Zealand in the 32nd match of the ICC World Cup 2023 in Pune on Wednesday provided a boost to Pakistan’s campaign.

Despite the formidable challenges that lie ahead, this win offers a glimmer of hope for Babar Azam and his team in their quest for a spot in the semi-finals. To bolster their chances, Pakistan needs to secure victories in their upcoming matches, particularly against New Zealand.

Additionally, they hope for Sri Lanka to prevail over the Black Caps. If these scenarios align, Pakistan could conclude the group stage with 10 points, paving their way to the knockout stage.

India Steamroll Sri Lanka, Secure Semifinal Spot in World Cup 2023

india-steamroll-sri-lanka-secure-semifinal-spot-in-world-cup-2023

Pace bowlers Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah bundled Sri Lanka at a meagre 55 runs to guide India to a massive victory at the Wankhede in their World Cup 2023 clash.

This secured India’s seventh consecutive victory in the World Cup 2023 and secured their spot in the semi-finals.

The fast-bowling trio’s performance with the new ball was exceptional, evident from Sri Lanka’s top five batsmen’s scores: 0, 0, 1, 0, 1. Shami further deepened Sri Lanka’s woes by dismissing batsmen No. 7 and 8 for ducks, with the score at 29. This put Sri Lanka in serious jeopardy of recording the lowest total in ODI cricket. Eventually, Sri Lanka was all out in 19.4 overs, marking India’s fourth-largest win in this format.

Shami’s figures of 5-18 also made him India’s highest wicket-taker in World Cup history. This marked the third instance in 2023 where India dismissed Sri Lanka for less than 100 in ODIs, and their second victory with a margin of 300-plus runs against them this year.

Chasing a challenging target of 358 runs, Kasun Rajitha was the highest scorer for Sri Lanka, managing to contribute only 12 runs, followed by Maheesh Theekshana and Mathews, who also scored 12 each. The rest of the Sri Lankan batters failed to reach double figures.

Shami led India’s bowling attack with figures of 5/18, followed by Siraj’s 3/16. Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja also took one wicket each.

In the first innings, after India was invited to bat, Dilshan Madushanka struck early for Sri Lanka, dismissing Rohit Sharma on the second ball of the innings after he had hit the first one for a boundary.

Source: Cricinfo

Virat Kohli then partnered with Shubman Gill, and together they amassed 189 runs for the second wicket, both achieving half-centuries.

While Shubman Gill seemed poised to secure his maiden World Cup century, Virat Kohli was aiming for his 49th ODI century to equal Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most ODI hundreds. However, Dilshan Madushanka halted their progress by dismissing both batsmen in consecutive overs.

Shubman Gill emerged as the top-scorer with a run-a-ball 92, featuring 11 boundaries and two sixes. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli scored 88 runs from 92 deliveries, with as many boundaries as his partner.

Source: Cricinfo

Batting at number four, Shreyas Iyer played a blistering knock of 82 runs from 56 balls, including three boundaries and six sixes, propelling India to a formidable total of 357.

Salman Naseer, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has expressed deep dissatisfaction over the disclosure of Captain Babar Azam’s ‘leaked’ private WhatsApp chat regarding the team’s affairs.

According to veteran sports journalist Sohail Imran, Naseer is particularly perturbed by the breach of corporate decorum, emphasizing that such discussions are expected to remain confidential.

During an appearance on a television show, Sohail Imran conveyed that the PCB’s COO is also apprehensive about the potential impact on players’ willingness to engage in candid conversations with him in the future. There is a genuine concern that their private discussions might find their way to the PCB chairman or others, eventually leading to media exposure.

This unfortunate incident has resulted in a significant trust deficit between the national team players and the PCB COO. In addition, Babar Azam himself is displeased with the leak, fearing that his future private discussions on sensitive matters might face a similar fate of becoming public.

Babar Azam’s Chat Leaked

This controversy gained traction after a screenshot of the alleged WhatsApp chat between Babar Azam and Salman Naseer aired on a private news channel.

The chat reads as follows:

Salman: Babar, there’s also been this news circulating on TV and social media that you have been calling chairman and he’s not answering you. Have you called him recently?

Babar: Salam Salman bhai, Ma ny to sir ko koi call nahi ke [I have not called up sir].

Salman: ok thanks

Azhar Ali, who was a guest on the aforementioned news channel show questioned if consent was obtained before divulging the private communication, to which the reporter asserted it wasn’t necessary. This prompted backlash from viewers, deeming the move unethical.

How To Use WhatsApp’s New Profile Feature

Source: YorkShire news

WhatsApp is working on an exciting new feature called “Alternate Profiles” that will allow users to maintain two separate profiles on the same account. This feature is designed to give users more control over their online personas, making it useful for those who use WhatsApp for both personal and professional purposes.

Two Profiles, One Account

The concept behind Alternate Profiles is to enable users to have two distinct profiles within the same WhatsApp account. Currently, you can hide certain information, like your “last seen” status or your profile picture, from specific contacts. However, with the introduction of Alternate Profiles, you’ll be able to create a secondary profile with a different profile picture and account name, visible only to the contacts you choose.

Here’s how it works: Your primary profile remains visible to everyone, just like your regular WhatsApp profile. Your alternate profile, on the other hand, is private and will only be visible to the contacts you select. This feature is incredibly versatile. For instance, if you use WhatsApp for work or have a separate work phone, you can set up an alternate profile with a professional image and name, keeping your personal and professional lives separate on the same WhatsApp account.

Spotting the Feature

The alternate profile feature is still in development and hasn’t been made available for testing yet. However, it was recently spotted in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android, and it is expected to be released soon. Once available, this feature will be a valuable tool for users who want to balance their privacy and the information they share on WhatsApp.

Additionally, this development comes after WhatsApp introduced account switching, which allows users to manage multiple WhatsApp accounts on the same phone. This feature simplifies the use of multiple WhatsApp accounts without the need for app cloning or a second phone.

As the ICC 2023 World Cup unfolds in India, questions have arisen about the match-finishing capabilities of Pakistan’s skipper, Babar Azam. Former Pakistan captain, Shahid Afridi and former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif, both shared their doubts regarding Babar’s ability to anchor innings and seal victories for his team.

A Talented Player, But…

Shahid Afridi, known for his explosive performances on the field. Acknowledged Babar Azam’s undeniable talent. But pointed out concerns about his ability to finish matches. In a recent interview with a local media channel. Afridi stated that when Babar Azam is at the crease, expectations are high. Everyone anticipates him to contribute 50-60 runs to the team’s scoreboard. However, he noted that players like Virat Kohli and KL Rahul not only score runs but also ensure that they remain at the crease until the end,  wecuring victory for India.

Afridi further explained that Babar’s fans and cricket experts often find it challenging to convey what the team requires from the player. While Babar Azam is hailed as a great player, sustaining that level of performance consistently has proven to be a formidable task, according to Afridi.

A Question of Style

On the other hand, Mohammad Kaif raised questions about Babar’s capacity to conclude matches through aggressive hitting. Kaif highlighted that when Babar attempts to change gears and start hitting boundaries aggressively, he tends to get caught on the boundary line. He emphasized that aggressive hitting is not Babar’s forte. Instead, he is known for his elegant touch play.

Kaif further explained that if Babar were asked to score runs rapidly after facing 60 balls. He might not possess the same ability as players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Who are known for their ability to accelerate the scoring rate effectively.

Statistical Overview

To put this discussion into perspective, it’s essential to look at Babar Azam’s performance in the ongoing ICC 2023 World Cup. The 29-year-old has scored a total of 216 runs in seven matches. averaging 30.85 with a strike rate of 77.69. He has managed to secure three half-centuries during the tournament.
