The eve of the India-Sri Lanka game in Mumbai witnessed the unveiling of a grand statue of Sachin Tendulkar at the Wankhede Stadium on November 1. However, much to the amusement of the public, the statue’s resemblance to Australia’s Steve Smith has garnered a plethora of hilarious reactions.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) orchestrated an elaborate ceremony to reveal the monumental statue of Sachin Tendulkar. This event took place before the clash between the two finalists of World Cup 2011 – India and Sri Lanka, a match that marked Tendulkar’s farewell from the game.

Crafted by Pramod Kamble, the towering sculpture is prominently positioned between the Sachin Tendulkar Stand and the Vijay Merchant Pavilion. It captures Tendulkar in action, playing a lofted stroke straight down the ground.

Sachin Tendulkar took to social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), to express his gratitude for honouring him with the statue at the iconic stadium.
