Bus Driver kills 6-Year Old in Karachi; Chaos Erupts in the City

In an unfortunate turn of events, another little angel lost her life. The 6-yr old girl, Sakina, who was on her way to school when she was hit by a bus in a traffic accident at Radio Pakistan Signal.

According to reports, two buses were racing on MA Jinnah Road leading towards Numaish, when one of the buses collided with the motorcycle. The crowd refused to let members of rescue forces and fire brigades pass through and douse the flames.

She passed away before the body was transported to Civil hospital. An angry mob ignited busses and threw rocks to show their anger when the bus driver and conductor successfully got away. This made things worse as it added fuel to the mob’s anger. However, police have arrested 11 for torching the buses.

Although the fires were extinguished and the driver is now behind bars, the accident sends an electric shock throughout one’s entire body and numbs the mind. Who would have thought a little girl would become a victim of bus races, leaving the father badly injured.

It is a shame how drivers can be so reckless that they turn a blind eye towards the safety and security of the individuals who are traveling on the roads. It is high-time such drivers are taught how to actually drive on the roads, and about time the government wakes up and establishes proper laws which seem to be taken as jokes in a country like Pakistan.

These drivers should not be allowed to drive any kind of vehicle without proper trials and guarantees from their employers and strict penalties need to be implied. It was Sakina who lost her life, tomorrow it could be someone who was dear to us.

Black Friday to be Banned by Islamabad High Court?

The Black Friday craze began in the United States, however, the biggest shopping bonanza has become a norm across the world. The phenomena has now reached Pakistan and are causing quite a frenzy due to the word ‘Black’ being associated with Friday, a day that is said to be blessed as per Islamic beliefs.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has now banned the discount sale festival due to it being ‘contrary to Islamic teachings’. The Chairman PEMRA, District Magistrate, Chief Commissioner and Chairman Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) were made part of the petition.

Black Friday marks the beginning of the Christmas season with sales and unbeatable deals, however, the argument in Pakistan states the tradition is alien to Pakistani culture and its recent popularity has disgruntled quite a few people.

According to the petitioner, he believed calling Friday black is a crime as the Almighty has named it as the chief of all days. He further added,

“According to the dictionary, Black Friday means ill-fated or black day. Hence, the court must ban the celebration of Black Friday on November 24 in Pakistan.”

The petitioner for the ban has also added,

“Government officials must also be barred from attending ceremonies under the same banner.”

Best Black Friday Fashion & Beauty Deals You Must Not Miss!

Advocate Azhar Siddique has written a letter to the president and provincial Chief Ministers to ban Black Friday and its promotion on an official level.

However he has further said,

“Consumers could be facilitated under the banner of ‘Bright Friday’ instead.”

Apart from the advocate and petitioner, Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) MD Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor had also previously spoken against Black Friday on Wednesday,

“It is disgusting that some business tycoons are bringing Friday a bad name of ‘black’ just to blindly follow the West for increasing their business. Friday is a gift for Muslims, which is holy, blessed, and a virtuous day.”

Pakistan Steals India’s IT Industry Jobs

The Indian IT outsourcing industry is known to be one of the best in the world. However, recently it seems that it is now being overtaken by a resurgent Pakistan as over 125 people were fired in a US-based IT service provider in Noida, New Delhi at the end of October.

It has now been reported by Outlook India that the same day these 125 people were sacked, a similar number of people in Islamabad logged in to their systems. Layoffs in Noida had been rumored after the company was opening an office in a neighboring country, seems like the company decided to migrate to Pakistan.

The Indian IT sector has been under job cuts for the last two years and the situation has become serious since 2017 began. It has now been reported that the new trend is witnessing IT jobs being shifted over to Pakistan.

Outlook India has reported that low end IT jobs are under threat in India as companies are now choosing to migrate to Pakistan. This could in turn damage the Indian economy.

The increasing startup culture in Pakistan in the IT industry has caused budding entrepreneurs to flourish under a conducive environment using the availability of 3G/4G services.

The China Pakistan Economic Corridor seems to be the main push for Pakistan’s IT Industry as Outlook India believes China is fueling Pakistan’s IT sector the same way the US helped India’s industry two decades ago. Major investments have taken place in Pakistan after the CPEC agreement.

E-Commerce giant, Alibaba has also collaborated with Pakistan in May and will invest $400 million in the E-commerce industry in Pakistan. Freelancing has also taken a significant rise in the region and Pakistan is among the top three countries in terms of software freelancers on freelancer.com.

Secretary-General of Pakistan Software Houses Association (PASHA), Shehryar Hydri spoke to Outlook India,

“Around 10,000 IT graduates are entering Pakistan’s job-market annually and industry is valued at a touch over $3 billion which is nothing compared to India”

He further added,

“We have about 1,50,000 mainstream techies and between 1,50,000 and 2,00,000 freelancers but the number is expected to almost double if you take the non-tech freelancers into account.”

However, Hydri adds, Pakistan has just got started and it would take at least 5 to 10 years to catch up to India’s IT industry maturity.

Alibaba Promotes E-Commerce in Pakistan!

Sindh Goverment to Bear Expenses of Students of Grade 10-12

BISE Lahore

School fees have been on the rise, keeping other expenses in mind there have been a reported number of school dropouts in Pakistan when students reach higher classes. In some cases, parents have been unable to meet the fee requirements.

However, a number of children opt to leave studies in order to take on meager jobs that would help them earn and support their families.

An initiative has been taken by the Sindh Education Department to promote the importance of education in the masses.

It will bear all expenses relating to registration, admission, and examinations of students enrolled in class 9 to 12 across the province.

This comes as great news for parents who have been struggling to meet school and exam fees.

The directives for this policy have been issued by the Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah.

The new policy will apply to those students that attend schools and colleges run by local councils, municipal corporations and town committees in the province.

Previously the Education minister for Sindh, Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar had talked about the reasons for waiving off admission fees of college students in government-run colleges was to increase the number of students. He also spoke about the deceptive ways in which some college staff are able to mint money off students in the pretext of admission fees and additional charges.

The new policy aims to promote secondary and higher secondary education in Sindh.

7 Best Places To Have Soup in Lahore!

The winter season has finally come around and brings with it a craving for soups that warm the body and the soul. We all love our fair share of chicken corn soup (and other favorites), and if you’re a Lahori, you have strict food standards, especially when it comes to those bowls of hot goodness during the chilliest winter day.

Here is a list of top eateries in Lahore that serve absolutely delicious soups to cater to the most conscious of connoisseurs. Make sure you try at least one of these places out during the winter months. They’ll never fail to impress!

1. Yum

Located at 24-K, Gulberg II, Yum is a Chinese eatery with a lively environment, laudable service, and one of the best soups in town. Yum can satisfy your taste buds with a reasonably priced bowl of chicken soup. Starting prices are just Rs 275 per serving.

Soups are not just a starter, but also a small yet healthy meal for those quick and hearty lunches. Ask your server…

2. Taoyuan Chinese

Another Chinese restaurant, Taoyuan is also situated in Gulberg, Block D1. You can choose from over ten varieties of soups, including wonton noodles in a soup and chicken, shrimp, and mushroom. Prices range from Rs 340 to Rs 400 for a bowl that will tantalize your taste buds.

3. The Noodle House

This is for the more sophisticated eaters amongst us. Soups at the Noodle House are more delectable, so to speak. The place is absolutely gorgeous with an impressive ambiance, and although the soups are a bit heavy on the pocket (Rs 345 per bowl), every spoonful is utter bliss. You’ll leave with lighter wallets, but a satisfied heart (and stomach). The Noodle House is in Gulberg III, Mehmood Ali Kasoori Road.

4. Salt n Pepper

This restaurant can be found in three locations: MM Alam Road, Liberty Market, and the Mall Road. Soups come in two varieties: hot and sour soup and chicken corn soup, the former at Rs 245, and the latter for Rs 235. Both variants are equally delicious.

5. Tai Pan

Tai Pan is located in Pearl Continental Hotel, in Upper Mall. It has an extensive range of soups: from seafood scallops soup to crab meat and bean curd soup, no customer can walk away unsatisfied. Prices hit hard, though, at 800 rupees for a bowl of this excellent soup. But the open kitchen and a cozy backdrop make it worthwhile.

6. Asian Aroma

Chef’s special soup, chicken noodle soup, and the evergreen chicken corn soup: Asian Aroma has it all. The cheapest bowl of soup is chicken & vegetable for rupees 550. You can find the restaurant at Gulberg III, in Block B1.

Posted by Asian Aroma Restaurant on Monday, May 2, 2016

7. Yen Hui

Yes, Chinese restaurants have quite a grip on the soup market. Yen Hui is very popular amongst Lahoris. The staff is very accommodating and friendly, and you’ll love the atmosphere. Also, the food quality is excellent and servings are generous.Yen Hui is on MM Alam Road. Prices range from Rs 1000 to 1499 per head.

If nothing works…

You can always rely on a roadside vendor for a bowl of tasty, instant soup. Those soup-makers are working hard during the cold winter nights to make sure you get a perfect bowl of soup, so make sure you sample at least one of them this season!

Sindh Government to Issue ID Cards, Passports and Visas to Animals!

In a country where almost half of the population lives below the poverty line, traveling is a luxury that is unaffordable to the majority. When basic necessities are not easily available, going abroad is definitely out of the question.

However, in a twist of events, it has been reported by Sindh authorities that they would issue national identity cards to livestock. Yes! You heard that right, Pakistani livestock will be issued with ID cards, visas, and passports.

The reason for this is to take animal welfare to a higher level.  A media outlet quoted officials saying an institute like NADRA will now be established for the issuance of identity cards, visas and passports to cattle in the country.

For the first time ever, the Government of Sindh’s livestock department has prepared a bill in order to form the Sindh Livestock Registration Authority (SLRA). Official documents for animals and a unique identification code for each animal will also be made. According to the bill, it will be compulsory for animal owners to register livestock under the SLRA.

A central database to keep a record of the buying and selling of animals, vaccination, movement, life, and death will be done through a computerized system.

The new law will require all butchers to be registered by SLRA and register themselves with the authority. The regulatory body will have to be notified when an animal is brought to the slaughterhouse. The authority aims to prioritize the nutrition and welfare of animals in the country.

Although the news is shocking, the practice has been done in India where the cows and buffaloes were provided with an identification number under the Indian Prime Minister. The process will soon begin in Pakistan, starting with the Sindh Province.

Nevertheless, we have yet to see how efficiently they are able to implement the system in Sindh. It will only be possible with the cooperation from livestock owners, butchers, and slaughterhouses.

What are your thoughts on the new initiative by the Sindh authority? Let us know in the comments below.

Here’s How You Can Read Deleted WhatsApp Messages

While the message recall option is a blessing on most of us who accidentally send the wrong messages to the wrong people on a daily basis, there are some who are restless.

We want to know what message was sent to us, even if it was by mistake. Being humans, it is our trait to be curious, and to feed our curiosity, this application explores the loophole in the feature and makes use of it.

Spanish Android blog Android Jefe has claimed that deleted messages are present in the notification log of the device.

Watching Youtube Videos Within Whatsapp Will Now be Possible!

The blog also claims that the recipient can access the deleted messages regardless whether it has been deleted from sender’s end.

“What we found is that the messages are stored in the notification register of the Android system. So, it’s just a matter of entering that record to see the messages that the other person deleted. #HaarKoHarao Will Challenge Your Perspective on Failure!

The very first time a child takes their first step is no less than a milestone in their lives. They fall in love with the idea of freedom and the ability to run without restraint.

They initially clutch a nearby support, get on to their tiny feet, and take their first couple of steps, only to fall again.

Fast forward to a couple of years later, they find themselves trying to tie a perfect bow and failing at it. They try to learn how to ride a bicycle after falling face first several times only to get back on to their feet despite having multiple scratches and scars, they refuse to give up!

The Falling Test

In order to know where that hard working and self-believing kid grows up to be an adult fearing failure, Surf Excel gave the perfect ‘falling test’. The challenge was to get across a 20-ft log, and the results were simply mind-blowing.

While 92% of the children and only 84% of the adults fell off the log, all of the children successfully completed the challenge simply because they refused to give up. Being creative & unique, giving up was never an option in their minds!

Some crawled across the log, while some took help from their friends, some of the kids even tried their luck at balancing their weight until they finally crossed it. However, for the adults, it wasn’t as easy.

Why Adults Didn’t Make It Through To The Other Side

In their own words, they described how just one fall gave them a sense of failure and accomplishment and how they themselves were ready to believe it was not possible. Others expressed how they did not try to think creatively and help one another get across.

When the kids were asked why the adults failed to complete the task, they simply had one thing to say, the adults didn’t try and were defeated because they got scared.

Sar Uthao Aur #HaarKoHarao

Now the question is, ‘Kya bachon ko harana hum sekhate hain?’ Its time we adults say #HaarKoHarao! Failure is a part of life, it doesn’t mean it is the only option which we can accept and not improve.

Failure itself is a teacher and can be used as a lesson to learn that anything can be aced with practice, dedication, self-will, and belief whether it be academics, sports, or any challenging situation.

Children learn many things from adults who are their initial role models, which is why we need to remind ourselves that if we want them to succeed, we need to change our thinking and make a positive change in life by falling but getting back up, after all, #DirtIsGood!

“If at first, you don’t succeed, try, try, try again !” – William Edward Hickson

Karachi to Face Massive Traffic Jam: Alternative Routes

There are certain things you get accustomed to while living in Karachi, like the anday wala burger, biryani, and beach, the pride of every Karachiite.

But, let’s not forget the “other” things on that list- like streets flooded with water post rain, makeshift garbage disposal spots and not to forget the traffic.

Karachi Traffic to be At Its Worst This Week!

Despite the fact that the people of Karachi don’t bat an eye on the daily traffic problem, having made peace with that fact; the traffic in the metropolis has recently surpassed an average Karachiites patience level.

Yesterday, the citizens were subjected to heavy traffic jams as MA Jinnah Road was blocked blocked for traffic by workers of religious parties.

With protestors gathering at the main Numaish roundabout, one of the main tracks leading from Numaish roundabout to Sea Breeze Hospital has been closed for traffic.

Meanwhile, Jail Chowrangi bridge is also closed for traffic

Alternative Routes

The vehicles entering into Saddar via Guru Mandar can be diverted through People’s Secretariat.

Traffic on Shahrah-e-Quaideen can be diverted through Kashmir Road and Corridor-III.

Protesters have been staging sit-ins at the major artery of the city for the past three days and have said that they will not move till the demands of the protesters in Islamabad were met.

Citizens Continue to Suffer

Social media was flooded with complaints against the heavy traffic jam.

And even the road infrastructure needs to be improved!

But now traffic has become an everyday issue in the life of a Karachiite.

In the upcoming few days, it is suggested to stay updated with traffic and plan accordingly to avoid being unnecessarily stuck for long hours.
