The highlight of our Monday was none other than Tahira Abdullah who zipped the writer Khalil Ur Rehman shut with her on-point speech on gender equality aka feminism.

Popular writer Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar has recently been in the news of the work due to his well-known play Meray Paas Tum Ho.
His views from some television and social media appearances have also greatly galled a fraction of the community however, the writer has been seen protecting his stance in his ideas and himself.
From mansplaining who he considers a woman to the female interviewer to stating that women should go gang rape men if they want equality, the writer and director shared his disturbingly regressive views about gender equality.

Sarmad Khoosat Responds to Death Threats Over His Latest Moive ‘Zindagi Tamasha’
Just after three days of writing an open letter to the prime minister over hurdles being created in the release of his upcoming film “Zindagi Tamasha”, filmmaker Sarmad Khoosat has disclosed that he is getting endangering phone calls and messages.
Just a few days ago, he penned down a letter to all the greater authorities of Pakistan to assist him to release his film.
This time he has dealt with Pakistani nation, seeking guidance from them that whether he should drop the idea of releasing his movie or not.
The actor and director tweeted another open letter on Sunday expressing this time to “Pakistan and Pakistanis.”

Actor and directed Khoosat have stated that he has invested two years and all his savings to make Zindagi Tamasha, The movie has also been passed by all three censor boards but still facing obstacles for some seemingly objectionable content.
Many celebrities tweeted in the support of Khoosat, including Mahira Khan, Humayun Saeed and Mira Sethi amongst others.

Irfan Junejo Skips High Profile Event Because of Ukhano
On Saturday, a picture of Ukhano sharing frame with Prime Minister, Imran Khan and other content creators went Viral.
Digital Pakistan is conducting a series of interactive sessions to be held with digital publishers in order to develop a positive image of Pakistan. While many famous Youtubers and others were present, Irfan Junejo was missing.
Twitter assumed Junejo did not attend the interactive sessions because of Ukhano and the assumption proved to be true.
Irfan later took it to his twitter and explained:
“There are 3 reasons why I said no within 10 minutes of getting the invitation even though it would have been a huge honor.”
“1. I wanted to spend time with my family at home after being away for almost a month. I was really homesick. (cont)”
“2. I was told that I’ll have to fund my own travel. After having spent almost a month in London and Istanbul my jaib is kind of at the khali end of the spectrum And there was another reason… ”

PTA directs Tik Tok to Remove Hareem Shah’s videos
Hareem Shah rose to fame because of her TikTok video recorded in the Foreign Office.
Social media uproared as to how she was permitted to record the video inside the Office and later steps were taken to avoid such an incident in the future.
Later, we saw many ministers including the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, become a part of these videos which involved indecent acts by Hareem Shah and her friend Sundas Khattak.
Recently, Shah uploaded a video where she is seen on a call with the Minister of Railway, Sheikh Rasheed alongside her friend Sundas.
A complaint has been forwarded by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to the Chinese App, Tik Tok regarding the issue.
PTA requires the app to remove certain videos of Hareem Shah and her friend because of government officials present in them.
If in case, the Chinese App doesn’t consider the requests of PTA then it is likely that we will experience a complete ban of App in the region.
It was reported that the duo left the country and moved to Dubai since compromising information regarding them was made public such as their IDs and passports but were detained for recording government officials in the region.
The leak also exposed that Hareem and Sundas are in fact, just stage names.
The app has worked alongside PTA before and chances are the viral videos will defuse sooner or later.

Faysal Quraishi and Wife Sana Welcome Baby Boy
Faysal Qureshi took it to his Instagram on Sunday and announced the birth of his baby boy, Farmaan Quraishi with wife Sana.
He uploaded a picture on Instagram of him holding his son and captioned the picture, “Welcome master FARMAAN QURAISHI aka #FQ and need your prayers and love he is new in the world.”
Thousands of fans poured immense amount of love for the newly born baby and congratulated the parents.
Many wished the newly born, Farmaan with a healthy and prosperous life.
The couple already has a baby girl together, Aayat.
Faysal Quraishi tied the knot with Sana back in the year 2010. The couple has been married for 10 years now.
Quraishi has more than 20 years of experience under his belt. He has become one of the highest-paid television personalities in Pakistan.
His characters from Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Baynishaan, Main Abdul Qadir hoon, and Bashar-e-Momin from the ’90s and after are greatly rejoiced.
Reportedly, Faysal Quraishi is working on his upcoming venture, Sorry. He’s planning to return back to the silver screen with the film.
His recent work, The Window directed by Ammar Lasani has recently been wrapped up. The film was co-written by Kanza Zia and Randy Zuniga.

Turkey’s Wikipedia Ban ends After Three Years
Turkey has revived access to the online encyclopedia, Wikipedia. The official publication of a Constitutional Court gave ruling that more than two-year block was an offense of freedom of manifestation.
Ankara has indicted Wikipedia of being part of a “smear campaign” against the country after the website dismissed the removal of the content that allegedly depicted Turkey as supporting the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL or ISIS) group and other organizations.
Wikimedia Foundation, the nonprofit organization that hosts Wikipedia, had applied to Turkey’s highest court to challenge the block.
Originally declaring openly its decision in December, the court announced it had ruled “that freedom of expression, which is under the protection of the 26th clause of the Constitution, had been violated.”
Access to the website has been restored after the ruling, passed by a 10-to-six majority in the court, was conveyed to the telecommunications watchdog.

Arrest Warrant Issued Against Mubashir Luqman
Popular anchorperson Mubasher Lucman fell under the fire when a complaint was lodged against him by Additional District and Sessions judge in Islamabad on Friday.
A non-bailable arrest warrant has been issued for the TV anchor.
According to details, Judge Sikander Khan issued the arrest warrant of the senior anchorperson Mubasher Lucman on a criminal complaint filed by Pakistan League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Danyal Aziz’s father, Anwar Aziz.
The charges against Lucman are that he has been making unsuitable comments about Danyal Aziz’s family on a TV show. He is presently on pre-arrest bail and has missed three consecutive hearings of the ordeal.
The judge allowed the proceedings of the case on hold on Friday until January 22. He requested the police to act on the arrest warrants.
Furthermore, The SHO will have to face legal action against noncompliance warrant arrest.
It may be recalled that not too long ago, at the reception of Mohsin Laghari’s son, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry had slapped TV anchor Mubashir Luqman, but Jahangir Tareen and other leaders there had saved both.
Fawad Chaudhry said that private TV anchor Mubashir Luqman, along with fellow journalists, programmed on YouTube, this was planned solely for high ratings.
Ansari revealed that Tareen and Chaudhry were talking about the allegations that Lucman had leveled on him during a TV show, salaciously linking the federal minister to Hareem Shah.
Chaudhry tacitly admitted to the act, slamming the TV anchor on Twitter, saying: “People like Mubashir Lucman have nothing to do with journalism … they are [sexual slur] who have barged into journalism.
”It is everyone’s duty to expose [such people],” he tweeted.

Gul Makai’s Director Amjad Khan Receives Death Threats
The upcoming film by Amjad Khan named Gul Makai is based on the tale of Pakistani activist and Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai.
The trailer was released on January 9, 2019, with the film to set to release on January 31.
However, Khan stated that he has been receiving numerous death threats but he never felt like ending the movie.
Khan agrees that the life of Malala is known to all but he is convinced that few people know about her life before she was shot by the Taliban in 2012.
Talking to IANS, he revealed that “This film portrays her earlier life and the spine-chilling incidents that she experienced when she was living in Swat.”
Khan quoted, “It was overwhelming to see the biggies giving a standing ovation. They liked it so much that even during the interval, no one left his or her seat. Each and every woman was crying.”
“Even though Malala’s father was watching the film for the second time, he couldn’t console himself. He said ‘you made our nightmares come alive again’.”
He added about Malala’s reaction while watching Gul Makai, “She tightened her jaws and her fists, and continuously tapped one of her feet.”
Gul Makai a lot more than just a directorial movie for Khan, it’s a message that needs to be shared with the masses.
“At present people need inspirations, especially women. This film is all about being courageous and determined during the worst situation of life.” Said Khan
He also added, ”fear is like an elastic band. You keep stretching and it keeps expanding. And this film is not only about a girl who has won the title from the UN as the most inspirational figure of decade but also a story of a father, a mother, a teacher, a soldier. “I never thought of backing out. I was worried about my artistes’ security on set during the shooting in Kashmir. On the first day in Kashmir, I thought of terrorist alignments with the locals but I was wrong. Kashmiri people are more patriotic than us.”
He revealed, “I still receive threat mails, abusive mails from unknown mail IDs.”
About casting for the film he shared, “I wanted to cast actors who resemble the real people. But at the same time, I wanted fabulous actors to portray the characters. And casting was really lengthy but I am happy that fine actors like Atul Kulkarni, Divya Dutta are part of my film. Unfortunately, Gul Makai is late Om Puri ji’s last film.”
“Earlier, a Bangladeshi girl named Fatima was selected for the role. But then Muslim extremists stoned and vandalised her home. She backed out.” Khan continued.
”Then fortunately we got Reem Shaikh who got into Malala’s skin so well that I forgot her real name and existence. She went through rigorous workshop where her accent and mannerisms got corrected,” he shared.
When asked why he didn’t go for Pakistani actors he responded, “At that time both the countries were going through tensed moments, and Pakistani performers were being banned from our country. I have no regrets on casting Reem though. She did her job fabulously.”

Is Apple Abandoning Lighting Connector Cable?
On Monday, members of the European Parliament asked the European Commission to force tech giant, Apple to adopt a single universal charging method.
Reportedly, European Regulators will be voting on the matter soon. However, the tech giant thinks this step will be disruptive to consumers and most importantly stifle innovation.
The lighting connector cable is used to charge and sync many of Apple products such as the iPhone and iPad.
As soon as the European Parliament votes for the tech giant to adopt a different charging method, all devices in Europe will require a new charging method.
Another feasible option is to discontinue wires completely and shift to wireless charges for all Apple products.
There were more than 30 types of chargers in the market earlier but since the regulations have actively worked on decreasing that number, it has come down to only three types of chargers.
The European Commission is actively campaigning for the past decade for a single charging method to decrease electronic waste being created by charging cables.
European Parliament member Alex Agius Saliba says, “This is hugely detrimental for the environment”, “A common charger should fit all mobile phones, tablets, e-book readers and other portable devices.”

Saba Qamar’s Upcoming Venture ‘Zubiada Mard Bun’ is Getting a New Name
Saqib Khan was working on a film last year in September, called ‘Zubiada Mard Bun’. Reportedly, the film is getting a new name as filmmakers believe that ‘Zubaida Mard Bun’ is too sexist.
The film is produced by Hassan Zia and written by the Chupan Chupai director, Mohsin Ali.
It has been announced that the much-celebrated actress of the industry, Saba Qamar is on board and we can’t wait for Saba to work her magic on the silver screen.
Saba Qamar has proved to be a promising actor film after film. She is one of the most talented actresses in the Pakistani film industry.
The film has been given to Nueplex this time. However, Saqib has earlier given his projects to IMGC.
It is most likely that Jameel Baig, the owner of Nueplex is co-producing the film but at this point, the news is not confirmed.
Nuplex is the most successful chain of cinemas in Pakistan. Baig owns two multiplexes in the city of lights, Karachi, one of which is situated on Rashid Minhas and the other in DHA Phase 8.
Baig is also known as a well-reputed exhibitor.

Firdous Jamal Explains Why He Thinks That Mahira Khan Is A Bad Actress
Veteran actor, Firdous Jamal had earlier made headlines for calling the most sought-out actress of the Pakistani film industry, Mahira Khan, a bad actor during an interview with Faysal Qureshi.
He said, “Sorry to say, buri lugay kisi ko ya achi, yay heroine stuff nahi hay. She is a mediocre sort of model. She is not a good actress and not a good heroine. Sorry to say.”
Social media uproared after Jamal’s comments surfaced on the internet. Celebrities came forward favoring Mahira Khan as a credible actor.
However, we have not heard from Jamal after that until he sat down recently and explained to EPK as to why he called Mahira a bad actress.
“I made a very technical comment. I have not even met Mahira Khan. I do not know her. Someone asked me about her and I said, she’s a star but she’s not an actress. She is a good model though,” says Jamal.
He explained further saying, models, tend to take care more of how they look more than how they perform.
Models worry about lighting, makeup, their hair and features etc whereas an actor wouldn’t do that. Acting is based on self-negation while modelling is self-projection.
He added, “So when you bring in self-projection into acting, you are negating its basic principle. If you are concerned with self-projection then you move out of the realm of characterization. So in this regard, I said she is not a good actress.”

Last year, Hania has spoken up on mental health. She took it to her Instagram expressing her views. She wrote,
“Mental health issues are real. As real as any other ailment that needs medication. In this world of vast knowledge and access to the internet, we all can look up what mental illness looks like so if a friend comes to you explaining a situation that isn’t very normal for you to hear, just be patient and make them feel it is normal.”
“Do your research and get them help because it took them a ton of courage and sleepless nights and crying and anxiety to come to this conclusion; to let somebody in on their illness hoping you could help; So do try and help, and do not brush it off saying things like “it will be okay” “you should be happy more” don’t give them that. Tell them their issues are serious and that you understand!”
She further added, “We are blessed with the power to reach people, and this is exactly what we need to do. Aware society.”
