Saturday Happens to be the Most Forgetful Day in Pakistan: Uber

Uber

Whether you’re in a hurry, busy checking your messages or chatting with a friend, it seems to be a common occurrence for riders to leave behind their personal belongings at the end of their Uber rides.

While the retrieval of these lost items from Uber cars is quite easy, a newly released Lost & Found Index from Uber offers interesting insights on the kind of items most frequently forgotten by passengers.

According to the Lost & Found Index covering the MENAP region (Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan), Saturday has been the most forgetful day of the week for passengers, while the afternoon is reportedly the time of day when a majority of these incidents occur in Pakistan.

Lahore has been stated to be the most forgetful city in Pakistan, followed closely by Karachi and Islamabad. In addition to that, November 30th, 2019 was the day on which the most number of lost-item cases were reported to Uber from all over the country.

Clothing items, cellphones, cards, bags, documents, sunglasses, keys, shoes, household items and devices like headphones and speakers made it to the top of the list of most commonly left behind possessions in cars.

More interestingly, the Index also lists down a number of unusual items left behind in Uber cars by passengers, including stethoscopes, bridal dresses, walking sticks, dentures, wall clocks, X-ray scans, and pillow covers.

As compared to earlier data, the past year has seen newer kinds of items accidentally abandoned in Uber rides. With the fast-paced lives of large metropolitan cities of Pakistan, the chances of individuals forgetting their belongings in a ride might be high, but it isn’t something to worry about with Uber’s professional and courteous partner drivers.

How to Retrieve Lost Items:

If you’re one of those people who left something behind, look no further than this video, which outlines the simple steps you can take the next time you forget something behind in your Uber.

The best way to retrieve a lost item is to call the driver – but if you leave your phone itself in an Uber, you can log in to your account on a computer. Here’s what to do:

  1. Tap ‘Your Trips’ and select the trip where you left something
  2. Tap ‘I lost an item’
  3. Tap ‘Contact driver about a lost item’
  4. Scroll down and enter the phone number you would like to be contacted at. Tap ‘Submit’.
  5. If you lost your personal phone, enter a friend’s phone number (you can do this by logging into your account on a computer, or using a friend’s phone).
  6. Your phone will ring and connect you directly to your driver’s mobile number.
  7. If your driver picks up and confirms that your item has been found, coordinate a mutually convenient time and place to meet for its return to you.
  8. If your driver doesn’t pick up, leave a detailed voicemail describing your item and the best way to contact you.

Heineken’s Latest Campaign Encourages Drivers to Drink & Drive!

Source: The Drum

With decades of ‘Don’t Drink and Drive’ advertising campaigns, Heineken is now encouraging the masses to Drink and Drive in its latest Ad! However, it is not what you’re thinking as Heineken has replaced their alcoholic beer with a non-alcoholic one!

Source: The Drum

When one thinks of the name Heineken, beer is what comes to the mind. It came as quite the shock when the alcoholic beverage company decided to move into the alcohol-free (malt) beer category in order to target a different audience.  The new beer is known as the Heineken 0.0.

The new campaign known as the Drivers Fridge was launched by Heineken in Singapore in association with Publicis. The ‘fridge’ is designed just like a modern car door and also has the same features and technology. It can only be opened with car keys since the fridge is fitted with technology that detects the frequency sent by the car keys and automatically unlocks.

Source: The Drum

Check Out Heineken’s Latest Campaign Driver’s Fridge Below:

The public fridge was set up in busy locations in Singapore such as the Orchard Bay and Clarke Quay. This innovative new idea has been successful and has garnered a lot of attention from the audience.

Drivers who passed by were able to have a drink before driving that too guilt-free!

Marketing Director at Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore, Faye Wee explains,

“Heineken 0.0 opens up new drinking occasions. And to launch it in Singapore we needed a high impact idea to show beer lovers they can enjoy a beer when they never thought of having one!”

The campaign has been making waves and has got everyone talking about it. With some loving the innovative idea of making the designated driver feel included, others have critiqued the campaign saying it gives a misguided approach towards drinking and driving.

Did Khalil-ur-Rehman Just Call Adnan Malik A “Hijra” On Camera?

Source: Nayadaur

It seems that the entire nation has been divided ever since a heated argument arose between Khalil ur Rehman Qamar and Mari Sirmed on national TV.

Most of the entertainment industry named the writer out for his ill-mannerism and foul mouth and have been boycotting him.

However, the writer has also garnered a lot of support from the general public who believe bold slogans such as “Mera Jism Meri Marzi” do not coincide with the teachings of Islam.

Among several celebrities who conveyed disdain on the writer’s behavior, Adnan Malik who played Khalil ur Rehman Qamar in Hum TV’s Sadqay Tumharay also opened up about playing the character of the questionable writer in the drama.

Khalil ur Rehman Qamar has now opened up regarding Adnan Malik’s remarks. The writer on Bol TV blatantly slammed Adnan Malik and openly called him a “Hijra”.

He started that there are many Hijras who have entered into the entertainment industry, and even though he makes sure that his lead actors are not one, he mistakenly selected one to play his own character hinting at Sadqay Tumharay’s protagonist, Adnan Malik.

A snippet of Khalil ur Rehman’s interview on BOL is going viral and his comments were met with episodes of laughter from the audience.

To the above video, actress Armeena Rana Khan stated that while our society is demanding for equality Khalil ur Reman is insulting the transgender community

Transgenders are still one of the most violently persecuted and marginalized communities and such people giving rise to mockeries about them simply makes the already weak community a further victim.

I can’t believe you are getting married now. My young firefly turned into such a fine lady and in no time chose her path so gracefully; I had never thought would happen so early. Although I always knew you were to always fly higher and higher. I wish you nothing but the best. It will be hard to share you. But tell your husband to be that you will always be mine first.

BMW Unveils Its New Logo After 23 Long Years!

Source: BMW

Legendary brands are those that can be recognized by people with just their logos, such as Ferrari’s prancing horse, Audi’s four rings, Lamborghini’s raging bull and many more.

Decades have been spent in establishing such splendid brand recall where the brand can be identified without any text attached to it. In contrast to this, BMW recently revealed its new logo after 23 years and this has caused quite the stir in its fanbase.

While some have accepted the change wholeheartedly, some have absolutely hated the sudden change!

Source: The Verge

The company’s first logo was seen in 1917 after which minor changes have been made over the years however what has shocked people is the complete change in the logo where BMW has left out the black elements of the design and has decided to go with a transparent background. The last changes to the logo were made in the year, 1997.

How Has BMW’s Logo Changed Over The Years?

Source: BMW Website

It is definitely going to take some time for BMW loyal customers to get used to the new change!

The company has rolled out the change only for online and offline communication purposes, pointing out that the logo is best suited for the digital age.

What Are The Main Changes Made To The BMW Logo?

  1. The thick outer ring in the circular logo became transparent from a previous solid black color. This means that the logo will take on the color of whatever it is set against.

2. The new design is simpler and flatter, which is a big change from the rounded three-dimensional look of the old logo

The logo made its official debut on the Concept i4 electric sedan.

However, BMW has stated that there are no plans for the new logo making its way on production vehicles in the near or even the distant future. This is good news for those who have not loved the new change!

Jazz TV Now Available on KaiOS

Jazz

Jazz TV, one of Pakistan’s most successful live streaming platforms, is now available to all Digit 4G users through a distinctive version of the application available on the KaiOS store.

Launched just in time for the HBL Pakistan Super League 5, the app enlivens the whole live-streaming experience.

Currently, more than 1.5 million people use the Jazz TV platform to stream the ongoing Twenty20 cricket league.

Jazz Digit 4G, launched at the beginning of 2020, is an inexpensive smart feature phone with the contemplatively designed operating system for the unique connectivity landscape in Pakistan.

The objective behind integrating Jazz TV with the phone’s OS is to offer users a digital space for all their entertainment needs. Bridging the connectivity gap is an enormous challenge in Pakistan, although the aggressive 4G deployment and resulting mobile applications are generating momentum to cover this gap.

KaiOS, the world’s third-largest mobile operating system, is a web-based model that enables a new category of smart feature phones like the Digit 4G. Through KaiOS, Digit 4G offers a range of popular apps including WhatsApp, YouTube and Google Maps.

“Jazz TV is one of the most popular applications on the Play Store in Pakistan because it offers an edge over linear TV. Given the app’s rising demand, we believe the time is right to introduce the masses to the concept of live-streaming, so they too can enjoy the cricket season on the go,” said Kashif Rehman, Product Manager at Jazz.

It is interesting to see video platforms customizing their apps for other operating systems, which itself proves how important the particular segment is.

Of course, it doesn’t compensate entirely for a smartphone experience but caters to users who aren’t too comfortable switching to an entry-level smartphone, mainly because of the budget constraints.

It is only when the next shift arrives that they clean the premises and ensure that the international hygiene and sanitation standards set by Dunkin’ International are achieved before beginning the production process. You are welcome to visit the facility and see for yourself if we’re maintaining the hygiene standards, but let’s not fall prey to allegations that are yet to be proven

Moreover, upon asking for more details, here’s what they said,

Official statement will follow after proper consultation with our lawyers.

Not only that but Dunkin Donuts Pakistan has removed their post on Facebook where they claimed that Dunkin Donuts Karachi is a completely separate entity! WHAT? And how??

Here’s the removed post:

Later on in the day, Dunkin Donuts Pakistan uploaded pictures of their ‘hygienic’ kitchen saying,

Our promise, quality product with no compromise on quality of ingredients and hygine. Our DD franchises of Lahore and Islamabad are owned by Phoenix Food Pvt Ltd.

Here are the pictures!

This seems twisted!

Mortein’s Latest Heart-Wrenching Campaign is Highly Inspired By Syrian Ad

Pakistan has already fallen prey to Dengue fever after a number of people have been diagnosed with Dengue since the year 2020 started. In order to combat it Mortein has released its latest campaign #DengueAbNahi.

The message they are portraying is how one’s life can change if they are not protected against dengue. The Ad reports that an estimated 250 lives were lost because of the disease last year and over 50,000 people were affected by it.

However after watching the campaign it reminds us of a popular video that went viral over social media by Save the Children it pictured a Syrian child who suffered after her life changed over night due to the ongoing war in the country. The heart-breaking Syrian ad was one that was absolutely unforgettable.

If you have a closer look at both the campaigns, you can see the various similarities between the two. One of many such examples is this scene below, where the child is going to bed, the same way the rest of the Mortein ad will remind you of the Syrian Ad.

Extremely similar snippet from the Syrian Ad

If you’re still not convinced enough, we’ve taken the liberty to show you a different scene recreated in the Pakistani brand’s video.

Hospital scene from the Mortein Video

This expression broke hearts across the world!

Check out the Syrian Campaign – (Most Shocking Second a Day)! Pay heed to the different phases of the campaign and compare it to the Mortein Campaign.

The campaign seems to be highly inspired from the Save The Children Syrian Ad. However, the Mortein Ad is very well executed and really makes one think of the consequences of Dengue. Not only does the patient suffer during the disease but the care-givers are equally under immense emotional pressure at the time.

Lets all hope that the social awareness campaign against Dengue will help Mortein save precious lives this year.
