As reported on Sunday, by Ary digital, the Sindh government wants the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to take action against people spreading fabricated audiotapes.

The audiotapes are “baseless” in which traders are allegedly accusing the government of taking bribes to keep their businesses running.

A letter has been written to FIA to take action against the guilty. The action will be taken under the cybercrime law. Such fabrication of the truth is an effort to irreparably damage its reputation says the provincial government.

The tapes were shared on twitter by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA Haleem Adil Shaikh. Evidence has also been provided against the culprits.

Murtaza Wahab, who is the Sindh Government spokesperson had rejected the allegations against the government. The allegations stated that the government was taking bribes from traders to allow them to reopen their businesses during coronavirus lockdown.

He further added that these tapes are fabricated and full of lies. People are well aware of the propagandists against the government.

US Consulate Is All Praises For Careem’s Coronavirus Relief Efforts

Source/ Nation

Careem, Pakistan’s trusted ride-hailing service, has been doing its bit in this time of crisis. Last week, Careem announced the introduction of the in-app ‘donate’ button that allows customers to donate COVID-19 testing kits and personal protective equipment (PPE) to hospitals through top charity partners.

Prior to that, the ride-hailing service had also announced a partnership with renowned charity organizations such as Rizq and Karachi Relief Trust to support relief efforts by delivering ration bags to communities at their doorstep across major cities in the country.

These efforts didn’t go unrecognized. The US Consulate Karachi, in its recent Twitter message, highlighted the crucial work Careem was doing as a delivery partner in the relief efforts led by a US company through local charities.

This recognition was also picked up by none other than the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo himself, who retweeted the message with praise for the initiative.

Careem’s response to the pandemic has been both noteworthy and inspirational. Substantial donations are being made through the app’s donate button and numerous kits and protective equipment have been donated to hospitals so far.

Careem has also been delivering ration bags put together by different charities to deserving families on a daily basis. This operation of theirs is expected to scale up as more charities join the cause.

Earlier this month, Careem also joined the Government of Punjab (GoP) in its efforts to create awareness by asking citizens to ‘Stay at Home’ by opting for deliveries of groceries and educating citizens about the government’s telemedicine helpline for medical-related queries.

Since the beginning of its operations in Pakistan, the ride-hailing platform for the greater Middle East has explored innovative ways to give back to the local society and communities. In these testing times too, Careem continues to contribute significantly to Pakistan’s socio-economic uplift.

Other actors shooting for a film that have just made it back to Pakistan from Thailand have been on the news for a while now and people thought maybe Meera’s following similar footsteps, only the difference this time is that she is not stranded in New York.

Some people thought this was a publicity stunt to make it back to the headlines. However, this isn’t true!

The veteran actress earlier pleaded the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan to help her come back to Pakistan during the pandemic as she is stuck abroad.

“I don’t want to die in a foreign country,” says film actress Meera, in a video message from the US. She has appealed to PM Imran to arrange her return to Pakistan.#DawnToday

“In my video, I had asked requested Prime Minister Imran Khan to bring me home. As a Pakistani, it is my right.” As COVID-19 kills more and more people every day, Meera reminds people that “This is not the time to mock or ridicule people.”

She clarified further, “The Pakistan embassy in New York knows of my whereabouts and I am grateful to Council General Ayesha Ali [for her help so far],” proving that she is in fact stranded abroad.

“Even yesterday around 500 people died due to coronavirus in New York, of which I am very scared”. She finished her message by adding that upon returning to Pakistan, she hopes she would be able to play her part by helping those affected by the virus.

Pakistan Will Most Likely Have 2 Lack Coronavirus Cases In June

coronavirus
Source/ GEO

The head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom, has notified that the number of people infected with the coronavirus in Pakistan may reach more than 200,000 by mid-July if effective intervention is not taken against the novel virus.

At the launch of the Pakistan National Strategic Preparation and Response Plan Virtual Conference, the WHO chief announced that the COVID-19 Response Plan is based on a joint strategy of the Pakistani government, the United Nations and its partners.

The WHO chief said that the virus had spread to 115 districts in Pakistan and Sindh and Punjab were among the most affected provinces.

He further added that the already stressful medical department was facing additional pressure as the numbers increase of the affected people. He also added that the impact of the virus on the socio-economic sector needs to be eliminated.

He said little was known about the coronavirus earlier this year, but now it has spread globally, putting lives at risk, including the medical system and the economy.

Tedros Adhanom said that in the face of the rapidly spreading epidemic, Pakistan needs more than ever, flexible and timely financial assistance to prevent the epidemic. He told that the whole strategy of the government in the project is a reflection of resources.

“I would like to make a few requests to other local and international partners, including the United Nations, that the virus is a real threat to Pakistan and that mitigating this threat depends on a coherent and solid approach,” he said.

“Not only do we need to make this project a reality, but we also need to coordinate to increase resources so that they can be used in a timely manner wherever needed,” he said.

Finally, he wished the Muslims of Pakistan well on the arrival of Ramadan.

Praying in Mosques Will Increase The Spread of COVID-19

mosques
Soirce/ Arab News

During the month of Ramadan, Pakistan will enter the most crucial moment of its fight against coronavirus, said Zhou Rong, a senior researcher at Chongyang Institute of Finance at the Renmin University of China.

The government’s decision to allow mass gatherings at mosques during Ramadan has triggered concerns among Pakistan’s health care professionals, many of whom warn it may jeopardize the country’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Zhou Rong in his article said that this poses a risk on multiple levels. People will be less vigilant in the mosque at prayer times and it will be tough to keep a safe distance.

Source/ Daily Sabah

Dr. Kasir Sajad, Secretary-General, Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) said, “The association is worried about the situation. We are worried that the number of cases will rise because of large-scale collective prayers. We can only hope that people abide by preventive measures.” Prime Minister Imran Khan forewarned that by mid-May the number of cases may increase.

Dr. Sajad stated, “If the two holy mosques in Makkah and Medina can extend the time for prayer suspension during Ramadan, why can’t Pakistan do it?” Sajad underlined that maintaining the prescribed social distance helped slow the spread of the virus.

Although President Arif Alvi after consulting with religious leaders has established a Twenty-Point Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to slow the spread of infections, it has removed restrictions on the size of prayers during Ramadan.

A sharp increase in COVID-19-related deaths has been recorded in Pakistan this week. More than 200 people have died, with over 10,000 infections recorded as of Wednesday.

6 Expert Tips to Give Yourself the Best At-Home Quarantine Facial!

Source: Leral.net

The quarantine caused by COVID-19 may have improved our communication skills with each other but many of us are struggling in the self-care department.

Highly dependent on our go-to salons for all beauty needs has left a lot of women lost on how to go about getting a good facial at home!

In stressful times like these, everyone needs a relaxing facial at home to make this quarantine bearable, and we’ve got just the right tips for it.

Here are 6 expert tips to help you get the best facial at home:

1. Create a Relaxing Atmosphere

Source: GoodFon

To get the closest feel of your favorite salon, start off by creating a relaxing atmosphere by lighting some sweet-scented candles, dimming the lights, and maybe put on some soothing music.

2. Cleanse

Source: L’oreal Paris

Your face must be completely clean of all makeup before beginning the facial. You can remove the makeup from your face with some micellar water or you could go totally organic by using almond or coconut oil too. Use a second water-based cleanser to remove dirt and debris from your skin, you could substitute this with warm too if you don’t have a cleanser at hand.

3. Exfoliate

Source: Flo

Use a facial scrub or an exfoliant to brighten up your skin. Try to keep a light hand while exfoliating to avoid scratching the product against the skin as this could easily cause irritation, inflammation, or breakouts. Exfoliation helps open your pores and smooth your skin’s texture

4. Steam

Source: Beautifully Alive

Every facial includes a steaming process to open up the pores of your face, there are two ways you can safely try steaming at home. You can hover your face over a bowl of hot water and cover head with a towel or alternatively soak a towel in hot water and put it on your face, make sure the water is not too hot enough to burn you.

5. Mask and Massage your face

Source: Daily Mirror

Use a mask to clean out your pores as they are now opened up due to exfoliation and steaming. You could use a clay mask or a charcoal mask for the best results.

Instead of just putting on the mask, try massaging it into your skin as it will help your skin glow later on.

With nowhere to go these days, you could also sit in the bathtub or just lounge about for 20 minutes with your mask on. Massaging your skin is healthy for your facial muscle and can almost be called a gym for your skin!

6. Moisturise and Seal

Source: Indian Makeup and Beauty Blog

The most essential step of the entire process would be to finish off the facial with your trusted moisturizer to seal in all this goodness.

For a spa-like feel, you could also add in a little serum with your moisturizer. Use a facial massage tool like a spade roller to get rid of the puffiness of the face and that’s it, your facial at home is complete.

Will you be following these steps for a facial at home? Let us know in the comments below.

Over the years, we’ve learned that there is no way Twitter can troll Pakistan’s most sought out actress, Mahira Khan. Yet again, we witness the queen shutting down someone trolling her son.

Being vocal about serious issues has certainly made Mahira’s platform important so it is natural that no tweet goes unnoticed. Her recent tweet to the director and producer of Pokémon caught attention.

The tweet said,

Hello,I am Azlan Askari. Me and my friend have made a Pokémon. We have made the design, the name, the type & the evolutions. Can I have an email to contact you? I am a massive fan of Pokémon and it would make my dream come true if you put my Pokémon in the game.

To which an anonymous account replied: Can someone take internet access away from celebrities during quarantine?

To which Mahira replied:

“That’s my son using my twitter. He has spent this whole month making a kick a** Pokémon animation & asked me if he could some way email or msg this man. If only you had bothered reading. Hope you can use your internet for better things”

She added,

“oh also, celebrity and super proud.”

Celebrity or not, nobody’s mom lets anyone troll or bully their child. Mahira surely knows how to respond to trolls while being civilized.
