In a world where the horrific and heart-wrenching news of the rape of a child has left everyone disoriented, some whose insensitivity exceeds them. Meet Iffat Omer for one!

A Show That’s Nose Diving

Iffat Omer has dabbled into hosting with her new shoes, ‘Say It All’ with Iffat Omar. The show is also sponsored by Hanif Jewellers and has had some renowned guests on its seat. However, the problem with the host is becoming more and more visible by the day.

Initially, she supported Noman Ijaz and his ridiculous confession about infidelity. Then, she very confidently joked about secretly hugging a man twice her age. Now, she has used the recent rape incidents in Pakistan as fodder for humor. Is there any stopping to the waste that this show is merely churning out?

Is This Insensitivity or Are We Desensitized?

Insensitivity refers to the idea that you downplay something’s impact, and you’re crass about it. The latter happens when you have seen something so much that a new occurrence does not impact you as much as the first did. 

For instance, living in Pakistan, we all are desensitized towards bombing. How many of us felt disoriented for days after the Lebanon explosion?

So when Iffat Omar calls Yasra Rizvi on her show and hears her guests’ feminist remarks, she agrees. However, when she has a misogynistic man on her show, she laughs along. She calls to end rape culture on her social media, yet she laughs about the very culture that has claimed levis of innocent girls, boys, and even animals.

Nida Yasir has also landed in hot waters because of something similar. A few days after the news of Marwah came to light, she invited the parents to her show for a week straight. In that entire week, she wanted them to recount everything that happened to Marwah.

Imagine, these are the parents of a little girl who was raped and then brutally murdered. They haven’t had time to grieve or see their child yet, and you want to make them puppets for the television. Marwah’s mother had a breakdown on the show, too, which shows the extent to which they were bugged.

It is astounding that hosts today are simply that— hosts. They can not think outside of their job to consider emotions or political correctness. Just for ratings, Nida Yasir tormented the parents, and only for a few laughs, Iffat Omer very casually joked about rape.

UHS Admissions 2020: Here’s Everything You Need To Know

Yesterday, we covered the DOW University admissions 2020 process. And we saw your interest in medical universities. Seeing that, we decided to provide you information regarding another medical university. Today, the discussion is the University of Health Sciences in Lahore.

Did you ever plan to study there? Or have you ever planned to shift to Lahore? Maybe you will give it more thought once you browse through all the information stored here. So shall we begin, my friends?

So the admission process entails an online application portal. They are very serious about not accepting paper-based application forms. To start this process, the candidate will have to register on the portal through the link, https://www.bop.com.pk/UHS/Login.aspx/

They will need to proceed by creating an account through their email. You will e directed to a page that asks you for the pin code. Enter the pin code sent to your email address. After you have logged in successfully the first time with the aid of pin code, you will only need the email and password afterward. So memorize both of them and keep them safe until the end of the process.

Second Step: Personal Info

The second step is to enter the personal information such as the name, the domicile info, the marks in the educational certificates. Of course, you need to prove that the information provided is authentic. So you will have to upload your scanned documents. But not just that, and here is the highlight, you will have to upload your photograph (make sure you see the format required), your signatures, and the left thumb impression. Here is a tip, keep checking the checklist.

Point to note here is that there are some reserved seats. They accommodate Disabled people from Underdeveloped Districts, the Overseas Pakistanis, and/or the Dual Nationality Holders. But if you are not applying for these, you will have to upload some additional documents.

Constant Vigilance!

Be vigilant when reading the instructions and follow them down to the T. Also, keep saving the application, so you don’t have to go through it repeatedly. The best part is you don’t have to complete it on one go.

Once you have completed the application, if the print preview reads draft copy, you cant submit it at any bank. The application has to read ‘complete’ for the bank to accept it with the fee.

#BanNidaYasirShow: Nida Yasir Apologizes To Pakistan [Watch Video]

Former Pakistani actress Nida Yasir has reached out to fans, followers, and social media to apologize.

The hostess recently became the center of backlash as #BanNidaYasirShow started to trend after she was called out for asking insensitive questions about the rape and murder of 5-yo Marwah.

Yasir posted a video on her official social media platforms with the caption, ‘please forgive me.’ In the video, she starts by saying she is sorry for asking Marwah’s parents questions that she shouldn’t have.

She says that the intention was not to gain any TRP or ratings but to help speed the process to catch the culprit. She shared that the father was unable even to register an FIR, but with the help and support of the media, the process becomes faster.

Yasir also added that after the show went on air, it took two days for the culprit to be arrested. Moreover, she pointed out that the team wasn’t the ones who sought after the parents; they were the ones who had approached her crew for help. He even received monetary support.

Yasir even mentions here that she is a mother and would never wish to hurt another. She also said that she is a human being. As a human, she, at times, intentionally and unintentionally makes mistakes, and that she promises to be even more careful shortly.

Marwah was kidnapped when she stepped out to buy candy from a local shop. She went missing for two days before police recovered her body, reportedly stuffed in a bag and disposed of.

Social media was in fumes after the episode aired and clips of Nida Yasir questioning the weeping parents of the unfortunate girl went viral.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time when the hostess was called out for her insensitive question and behavior on TV. Yet, even though the public has criticized this morning show culture, it seems that it has changed as it continues.

Earlier, Nida and her husband were accused of faking their Coronavirus results to take advantage of the situation.

“My Instagram, my messenger are filled with so many affectionate messages and prayers from everyone. So many from the entertainment industry called in to ask about our health,” she revealed.

“But many hurt me as well. Few said that we had been paid by the government or that it was all a facade. There were few who said, ‘They used to come to work every day! Acha Hua’.” She added.

In 2019, Yasir was bashed for excessively bragging about shopping. She pointed out her items one by one and talked about the money spent on those items.

Danial Shahzad Khan, an SFX/VFX and concept artist, has been making waves! Not only has he excelled in 3D animation and graphic design, but he has also done a marvelous job with sculpture making, movie props, feature films, and even short films.danial shahzad khan

His work speaks plenty for itself; check some of it out below:

Daniel has worked on several projects, including Shamoon Abbasi starrer ‘Durj,’ Mahira Khan and Shehryar Munawar’s ‘7 Din Mohabbat In’, O21, Project Ghazi, Jalaibee, Altered Skin, Zom Com, Moor, and more.

He has designed and made props, costumes, and set concepts for these projects. His work looks phenomenal as if a Hollywood specialist has contributed to these projects.

He gets his inspiration from different places; at times, it is some characters in iconic movies; at other times, it is just an idea that strikes like lightning.

The Creative Manager at Lucid Studios wants to see himself working for Stan Winston and Neil Bloomcap or even Rick Baker one day.

Right now, I am proudly associated with nadir shah. I hope to work with stan winston, neil blomcamp and rick baker one day.

One of Danial’s latest projects is a super-human Exo suit, which we would love to see being used shortly in a sci-fi or fantasy movie!

Pepsico is introducing a mind-blowing product. Listen up, Night owls! Because this product is all for you. With 7.5 ounce mini-cans, you can say bye-bye to mini-insomnia.

Okay, so please note that we are not belittling insomnia. But the ones who don’t have clinical insomnia, rather some sleepless nights, the drink is for you. The drink called Driftwell is a call-for-slumber apparently because it makes you relaxed all over. And we know what follows relaxed, right?

“While PepsiCo ultimately envisions relaxation beverages owning a space similar to the energy category today, how that grows will largely depend on how consumers look for them and the brands’ ability to react to that shopping behavior.”

NPD group’s Beverage Analyst Darren Seifer, expects it to gain popularity given the current times.

He says, “You can have a function in the foods and beverages you’re consuming. It’s not just about thirst. It’s not just about sustenance. It’s about helping you feel good.”

Facebook Avatar came at a time when people were just about done with 2020. With one bad news after another, people are waiting for the new year more than ever. And amid all that, Facebook released a new feature. This was liked more than their new look, which by the way, sucks.

Anyway, everyone was immediately hooked. And it went viral. Within a couple of days, timelines were full of people posting their avatars. Some thought it looked very similar to their real-life appearance, while others disagreed with the view. Regardless of whether it was identical or not, the process of making the avatar was indeed fun and cathartic. The trick was to know your appearance completely, be it the eye shape or the jawline.

As the timelines erupted with Facebook Avatars, people started making fun of it. And with as much frequency, we saw Avatar memes emerge as well. So let’s have a look at how people made fun of the avatars and the people making them.

Uber Partners With Unilever To Provide Hygiene Kits, In-Car Separators To Drivers

September 17, 2020: Uber and Unilever partner for more excellent rider and driver safety by distributing over 20,000 hygiene products to partner drivers in Pakistan. The country continues to move out of lockdown.

The hygiene kits, including Lifebuoy hand hygiene gel and other Unilever leading products, will enable drivers and riders to clean their hands and wipe down car surfaces after every trip. Riders are encouraged to ask for wipes and hand hygiene gel ahead of their rides. Free masks are also included in the hygiene kit. This is in addition to over 300,000 masks Uber has distributed across the region so far, with plans to continue as needed.

Drivers can pick up hygiene kits at Uber driver centers across Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi.

As part of the partnership, Uber and Unilever will be installing in-car safety shields for vehicles that are highly active on Uber’s platform.

This is part of Uber’s $50 million global commitment to help provide equipment for clean and hygienic rides, at no additional cost to drivers.

Uber and Unilever first announced the collaboration in May with a pilot rolled out in the UK, to bring the partnership to other markets in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

The partnership with Unilever complements several enhanced safety features that Uber has rolled out to help everyone using the app stay safe and healthy. This includes mandating masks for both riders and drivers and offering them the flexibility to cancel a ride without incurring a penalty if they’re not wearing a mask. Drivers are also asked to undertake additional safety measures, such as regularly sanitizing their car and making hand hygiene gel available for riders. Similarly, riders are required to wash their hands before getting in the car, sit in the backseat, and not exceed the maximum number of people allowed in a vehicle.

This is in addition to the core safety features on the app, including GPS tracking, two-way accountability, driver screenings, real-time ID check, trusted contacts, caller anonymization, and emergency integration that have been introduced as Uber continues to put safety at the heart of everything it does.

Who Is Dogan Alp?

He is one of the three Alps of Ertuğrul, together with Turgut Alp and Bamsi Beyrek, who are blood brothers with him. Dogan plays a significant role in the conquest of Karaçahisar even though he was martyred before the win.

2020 has not been a good year for the world. And things are not going well for Pakistan either. I mean, we are not unaware of the Lahore Motorway incident, the Aurat March, Marwah case, not to forget the COVID pandemic. Amid that, if you hear something positive, something for the country’s future, it brings a smile to your face. PM Imran Khan is on the news for something similar.

PM Imran Khan Visit to Haripur

Today, on 17th September, Prime Minister Imran Khan will be going to Haripur to inaugurate the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa flagship project. This project is a university, Pak-Austria Fachhochschule University. The university, as Faisal Javed Khan mentioned in his tweet, will be offering programs in Artificial Intelligence, Railway Engineering, Mineral Resource Engineering, Agri-Food Technologies, etc.

Standard of Education

According to ARY News, the project was approved by Governor Shah Farman in 2019, and it was to provide a European standard of Education.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Lt Gen (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa took to Twitter how impressed he was at such a step. For him, it ‘Reflects the vision of the state of the art Science & tech education infrastructure / broad-based industrial/knowledge-based economy.’

On his trip to Haripur, PM Imran Khan will be accompanied by federal ministers. And after the inauguration, the studies will officially begin from October 2020. Considering PM Imran Khan mentioned when he joined office that he will focus on Education, this inauguration is right on time. He said that he would invest his attention on Education, poverty, and the economy. While he focused on the economy in the first year, the second year’s highlight was the pandemic. So it was high time the government diverted attention towards Education.

Let’s hope this university is so unique that instead of going abroad for studies, the aspiring students of our country opt for this one. Let’s hope that the university also introduces more humanities programs as well. I mean Science and technology programs are all well and good, but people are diverting to various fields. We all know how social media works. It doesn’t even take a minute at times to go viral. At times, it takes a bit longer.

However, a lot of times, important issues are discussed on social media platforms.

Over the past few days, the Lahore motorway gang rape had become the talk of the town. But, it was not the only incident to have occurred.

5-year-old Marwah was kidnapped when she stepped out to buy candy from a local shop. She went missing for two days before police recovered her body, reportedly stuffed in a bag and disposed of.

So, what does this have to do with Nida Yasir?

Yasir is a television show host. She invites guests on her show to interact with them for entertainment purposes. This time around, the parents of 5-YO Marwah had been invited.

As we’ve seen before in many shows, the family members of a victim are often asked uncomfortable questions. Children are asked if they knew what happened to their deceased parents; parents are asked about the death of their child.

To gain some ratings and TRP, the family members are put through hell, which is undoubtedly extremely unethical. Yasir, on her show, had also followed this pattern of placing the victim’s parents in the spotlight by asking them difficult questions in regards to their daughter’s death.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time when the hostess was called out for her insensitive question and behavior on TV. Yet, even though the public has criticized this morning show culture, it seems that it has changed as it continues.

Earlier, Nida and her husband were accused of faking their Coronavirus results to take advantage of the situation.

“My Instagram, my messenger are filled with so many affectionate messages and prayers from everyone. So many from the entertainment industry called in to ask about our health,” she revealed.

“But many hurt me as well. There were few who said that we had been paid by the government or that it was all a facade. There were few who said, ‘They used to come to work every day! Acha Hua’.” She added.

In 2019, Yasir was bashed for excessively bragging about shopping. She pointed out her items one by one and talked about the money spent on those items.

DOW University Admission 2020: Everything You Need To Know!

Previously, we covered all you needed to know about getting admissions at Aga Khan University. But as we all know, to pursue your desired field, you have to apply in multiple relevant universities. One such medical university is the Dow University of Medical Sciences.

And if you are applying at Dow University, here is everything you need to know about Admission Procedure.

Online Application

As is now familiar with almost all universities, Dow also accepts online applications. You can access them through the DUHS admission cell. The link is available on both Institute of Health Management (IHM) and the DUHS website.

Now that you are on the cell access the form. Once you have filled it out, you are supposed to print and sign it. The application will be taken with the deposit fee to the designated bank branches.

Issuing Admit Cards

Now, this is an important thing to note. The process of getting the admit card is different for Karachiites and non-Karachiites.

Karachiites can visit the admission cell with a signed admission form, paid challan, and three passport-sized photographs. They will be issued the admit card. As for the non-Karachiites, they will get the admit card on the address they mentioned in the application form. Rest assured, they will get it before the entrance test.

Entrance Test & Interviews

This test happens in DUHS’s main building. So Karachiites or not, you have to come to Karachi for the test. You will know your designated test center, date, and time because it will be mentioned on your admit card. So hold it close to yourself because it is possibly the most important document of your DOW career. Also, bring the NIC photocopy alongside the admit card.

They will be assessed based on their language and analytical skills. Passing that will qualify you for interviews. In the interviews, you will be judged on maturity, motivation, and interpersonal skills. So be prepared to rock the interviewers.

Required Documents

Now let’s look at the required documents for the interview. Make a checklist!

Candidates are required to bring the following documents in original on the day of the interview:

  • Matriculation / O-Level certificates alongside transcript/mark sheet
  • HSSC (Part I) / A level (first year) certificate & transcript/mark sheet
  • Bachelor degree & transcript/mark sheet
  • The NOC from the company if they have applied for a discounted policy

List of Admitted Candidates

You will be notified through a list displayed on IHM and DUHS websites. The successful students can then collect their fee challan and confirmation letter from the DUHS admission cell. The message will serve as proof that they complete the eligibility criteria.

Know this, even after registration, you need to submit some documents for successful enrollment. These documents need to be attested as well.

The documents are:

  • Matriculation /O Level certificates with transcript/mark sheet
  • Higher Secondary School Certificate (Part I) / A level (first year) certificate with transcript/mark sheet
  • Bachelor degree with transcript/mark sheet
  • Equivalence certificate in case of degrees/certificates issued by non-Pakistani universities/boards.
  • Photocopy of Fee Challan deposit slip
  • Three copies of a recent passport size photograph

If you don’t submit these documents on time, your admission to DOW University may be canceled.

What? Apple Didn’t Launch iPhone 12 On 15th September?

iPhone 12 was supposed to launch on 15th September. But after all the wait, when the virtual event happened, Apple did not establish the awaited cellphone. The excited fans were greatly disappointed.

What Happened on the 15th?

The audience did witness the launch of Apple Watch SE, Apple Watch 6, and iPads. What remained absent from iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone Max, an iPhone 12 Pro Max. So basically, the entire iPhone 12 lineup just did not exist. And honestly, while these accessories are all fun, the prominent product people stand in lines for is the iPhone. So no matter how many accessories get released, it does not matter.

When can iPhone 12 release?

The expected time of release for the product will lie somewhere in October, possibly October 13 or something October 14. However, Apple has not released any official statement, either for why iPhone 12 did not launch yesterday or when it will launch.

Now maybe this happened because Apple has a history of releasing their phones around mid-September. But there were almost confirmed rumors (which sounds like an oxymoron) that iPhone 12 was set to release at the given time. Now, who is at fault, one does not know. But it seems like a situation on an entirely new level that an Apple event happens, and the iPhone is not invited.

Guess Game On!

Now even though Apple has not responded, but we are free to guess, right? So according to one such guess by Nikkei Asian Review, a Japanese outlet, that Apple is going to go 5G from mid-September. This implies that products will be out of the pipeline soon. Moreover, while they deal with the rest of their devices, Black Friday will be upon us. So after that, there will be no more significant events to steal iPhone’s limelight. So when they launch, they will do so with the presence Apple is known for. I mean, we would like to add the finger crossed emoji here because it’s 2020, anything can happen.

And given that the latter half of October will be occupied with election campaigns, they have to launch it at the end of the first half. Some Apple fans went as far as analyzing that Apple launches events on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. So in that order of things, the possible logical dates are 6, 7, 13, 14. That said, we are partial to October 13, and that’s because we are writers too, so we like to bring our element into things. Mercedes-Benz Fined $1.5 Billion For Cheating Emissions Tests

It is not every day you hear that an automotive titan has landed themselves in hot waters. At times there are recalls, other situations, but this time around, Mercedes-Benz has left many in shock.

According to reports, the German automotive subsidiary of Daimler AG Mercedes-Benz has been slapped with a fine. The reason behind the $1.5bn fine is because the brand was caught cheating in emissions tests.

Emissions tests are conducted to make sure vehicles are only producing a certain amount. It has become a protocol for all automotive manufacturers all around the globe.

However, the U.S. Department of Justice, Environmental Protection Agency, and the California attorney general’s office said Daimler violated environmental laws. The department has claimed that the brand used a “defeat device software”  to change the test results.

This occurred for the 250,000 vehicles (including cars and vans) that Mercedes-Benz had manufactured throughout 2009-2016. Mercedes-Benz USA has agreed to pay the fine, which includes civil penalties. The approval for Mercedes to fix the already sold cars as per the protocol is currently waiting for approval.

According to the settlement, the brand is responsible for fixing at least 85% of all sold cars within two years, and 85% affected vans within three years. Moreover, the company will be required to issue a warranty to the customers on certain vehicle parts. It will also be required to conduct emissions tests on the repaired vehicles each year for the next five years.

However, Daimler AG has said that the company does not admit any liability, nor will they purchase any of the in question. The brand has not issued any statement as to how it plans on taking action to clean the vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz is not the first automotive manufacturer to have been slapped a fine for cheating. Volkswagen was also accused of wrongdoing and had to pay $2.8 billion as a settlement in a criminal case for cheating emissions tests. On the other hand, Fiat Chrysler is also under investigation.

The state of California will also be receiving a payout of $17.5 million for future environmental projects by Daimler AG as a part of the settlement.

The people often prefer the capital because it always has an air of serenity and calmness to it. Islamabad’s breeze is to die for, and so are the scenic spots. Possibly the cleanest city! 

But, like all other places, Islamabad has a dark side too. These haunted places in Islamabad are considered to be spooky because of years and years of experience with the paranormal being reported. Don’t go near them at night-time!

1. New Islamabad Airport

As weird as it may sound, the new Islamabad airport is considered to be haunted by many. How can a recently developed, vast, and well-lit place be haunted? Well, because it’s built over an area that used to be a graveyard before (some sources report).

The staff of the airport has reported multiple incidents. They have heard frightening noises and seen shadows of children playing on the runway. Some have also seen deformed figures, which made them faint! Next time you’re there, don’t go anywhere alone and stay in busy areas.

2. Lotus Lake

Situated in Shakarparian, this lake gained popularity for all the wrong reasons. Several murders took place in the area, and legend has it that the murderer left the bodies by the lake. Could it be black magic or a sacrifice made for a cult? We may never know.

4. Shah Allah Ditta Caves

Anyone who knows even a little about Islamabad knows about these caves. Legend has it that these caves are over 700 years old, which automatically makes you want to stay away. Who even knows what is inside the dark depths of a cave?

The whole area will make your skin crawl because old trees and even older caves occupy it. People have heard noises in the caves at night as if lots of people are talking to each other. The residents of the area have also seen dark shadows at night.

5. Kachnar Park, Sector I-8

Kachnar Park is also famous for being possessed by the supernatural. Many try to challenge the rumors about the park, but many have witnessed paranormal activities. People out for jogs in the park have reported seeing people sitting under huge trees who disappear by the time you take a second look. Officials have also never carried out investigations over the incidents, which only reinforces these beliefs.
