Sephora Is Now Offering Free Facials in Stores

Sephora is offering beauty fans an instant skincare fix, with the launch of a new in-store facial.

The beauty retailer has teamed up with The HydraFacial Company to offer clients “Perk Hydrating Facials” in more than 100 of its stores across the US.

The 30-minute skincare treatment (which is complimentary with a $75 minimum product purchase) aims to exfoliate, hydrate and nourish the complexion by using a special device that uses roller-flex technology that acts as a vacuum to suction impurities from the skin, while simultaneously flushing it with nutrients and hydration.

The service will be carried out by specially trained Sephora advisors, who will provide customers with a skincare consultation and a personalized “Digital Skincare Guide” covering different products and application methods.

“The Sephora Perk Hydrating Facial is our first in-store spa grade treatment, powered by our own talented consultants who celebrate beauty each day with our clients,” said Priya Venkatesh, Vice President of Merchandising for Sephora, in a statement.

“By introducing our clients to the right products, based on their own unique skincare concerns and enhanced with a personalized service, we’re able to create an emotional connection, build their trust and celebrate the results with them in one comprehensive offering.”

The move is Sephora’s latest interactive beauty initiative — the retailer already provides a 15-minute “Mini Makeover and Facial” service in-store, as well as custom makeovers and beauty classes in a select number of outlets.

Immersive beauty experiences are becoming a major trend across the industry, with brands increasingly seeking innovative ways to engage with consumers. Last year saw French beauty giant L’Occitane en Provence unveil a new multi-sensory digital in-store concept featuring rain shower sinks and ‘fragrance clouds,’ while Tom Ford’s inaugural stand-alone London beauty store, which opened its doors in November, features several creative initiatives, such as a dramming bar for customized fragrance services and a dedicated ‘Color room’ where shoppers can virtually try on makeup using augmented reality technology.

PSL Outruns Other T20 Leagues in Fielding Excellence, Breaks Record!

Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018 has claimed the crown of being the best addition so far! Not only was the Karachi final a historic event, but the league has also beat other major T20 franchises in the best fielding category!

PSL overtook IPL in the stats, according to a report drafted by ESPNCricInfo, which compiled data from Cricket21.

The PSL third edition, which was held in between February and early March had 82% catches taken followed by IPL with 81%. KFC BBL and CPL 2018 followed with 76% and 72% respectively.

According to GEO, PSL fielding stats are well ahead of the BBL, where last season’s conversion rate was only 75.6%. The champions, Adelaide Strikers, were third-best with an 80% conversion rate.

The IPL, as of April 29, 2018, has seen 81% catch-conversion rate. The CPL 2017 edition had an overall conversion rate of only 72%.

The percentage is calculated on the base of the number of real catching opportunities and how many were actually caught and dropped. PSL 2018 was widely praised by the commentators and analysts for the impressive fielding and impressive catch success.

Netflix Producer Accuses Weinstein of Persistent Sexual Assault

A Netflix series producer has filed court documents in New York alleging disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein raped, sexually assaulted and verbally abused her over a five-year period.

A Netflix series producer has filed court documents in New York alleging disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein raped, sexually assaulted and verbally abused her over a five-year period.

Alexandra Canosa, an associate producer of “Marco Polo”, had initially filed a $10 million suit in December, and this week amended it to further detail her allegations against the 66-year-old father of five.

She said Weinstein “constantly threatened” her and “made it clear that if she did not succumb to his demands for sexual contact or if she exposed his unwanted conduct there would be retaliation, including humiliation, the loss of her job and loss of any ability to work in the entertainment business,” according to documents filed Monday.

The misconduct included sexual and physical assault and multiple instances of rape between 2010 and 2015, according to the updated filing.

Defendants including the Weinstein Company “knew or should have known about Harvey Weinstein’s conduct, and did not act to correct or curtail such activity,” Canosa alleges.

“Instead, defendants facilitated, hid and supported his unlawful conduct.”

In August 2017 Canosa says Weinstein — who more than 100 women have accused of sexual misconduct ranging from harassment to rape since exposes published in The New York Times and The New Yorker in October — verbally threatened her against speaking out.

The deluge of allegations has finished the former movie magnate’s career: in October his eponymous film studio company sacked him and he is facing a number of other lawsuits.

Weinstein denies any allegations of non-consensual sex and has said there were never “any acts of retaliation” against women for refusing his advances.

This week actress Ashley Judd, one of the first women to publicly accuse Weinstein, sued him on the grounds that he defamed her after she rejected his advances.

Judd said in a prepared statement that any damages she wins will go to the Time’s Up legal fund, “so that women and men in all professions may have legal redress for sexual harassment, economic retaliation and damage to their careers.”

The Met office has predicted that the month of Ramzan would be hot and dry with very chances of showers bringing relief from the heat.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, Director General PMD Dr. Ghulam Rasul said that the months of May and June would be hotter than usual. According to him,

“There are chances of frequent heat waves during May and June with few showers,”

Precautions during Heat Wave

The hot and dry spell over the next couple of days means that extra precautions are a must. Following are some precautions that one must observe to stay cool during the heat wave.

  • Stay hydrated and drink as much water as you can
  • Avoid going outdoors unnecessarily
  • Keep your house cool and ventilated
  • Avoid eating hot, oily and heavy food

Apart from that, we suggest that you keep some water outside in shade for birds and animals as they too suffer from extreme heat.

This is not the first time that Karachiites will have to “bear the heat”. June 2015 saw the deadliest heat wave resulting in the death of 1200 people and leaving more than 40,000 people suffering from heatstroke and heat exhaustion.

Disney Eyes New App Aimed at Millennials

Disney announced Tuesday it was launching a free video app with original content aimed at millennials, who are targeted by advertisers.

The app — called “Oh My Disney” — will be a variation of the site of the same name, which publishes editorial content and short videos on the world of Disney, Mickey and Marvel superheroes.

This is a new stage in Disney’s evolution to mobile media, just weeks after the launch of its new ESPN+ app for sports fans.

In addition, Disney has already planned to launch a new online video platform for family content and youth programs in 2019, but also to beef up the existing Hulu service.

After long focusing on traditional television and cable, the entertainment giant is making a strategic shift and adapting to new streams of income.

The freshly released “Avengers: Infinity War” movie marks 10 years of box office success for Marvel Studios, one of the biggest American movie franchises in the history of Hollywood.

The Marvel universe continues to ride high in Hollywood. As well as marking the 10th anniversary of the Marvel movie franchise, the studio’s latest release, “Avengers: Infinity War” is already setting new box-office records.

The most lucrative movie franchise

With 19 films to its name, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the movie world’s biggest franchise, coming way ahead of “Star Wars” with its current count of 10 films. Combining total box-office grosses worldwide, the Marvel Cinematic Universe holds the record as the most lucrative movie franchise, with grosses topping $13 billion. This impressive figure once again surpasses the “Star Wars” movie franchise ($8 billion).

In total, five Marvel movies have broken the symbolic billion-dollar mark at the box office. The first meeting of Marvel superheroes, “The Avengers” (2012), leads the way with $1.5 billion, also making it the fifth highest-grossing movie of all time. Next in line comes “Avengers: Age of Ultron” (seventh with $1.4 billion), “Black Panther” (eighth with $1.3 billion), “Iron Man 3” (14 with $1.2 billion) and “Captain America: Civil War” (16 with $1.15 billion).

There seems to be little doubt that “Avengers: Infinity War” will soon join the list of the studio’s movies topping one billion dollars at the box office. In any case, the third meeting of Marvel superheroes is already well on its way, since the movie has already grossed $630M worldwide since its April 27 release.

This new record sails past “The Fate of the Furious” and its $531M opening weekend, as well as “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” ($529M). In fact, in the USA, “Avengers 3” scored the biggest opening weekend in history with $250M, eclipsing “Star Wars Episode VII” with its $248M opening.

“The Avengers” is once again affirming its place as the most popular Marvel saga. Marvel movies also bring together a galaxy of Hollywood stars. In 2008, Robert Downey Jr. kicked off proceedings with the first installment of “Iron Man,” scoring a global hit. More than 40 Hollywood celebrities have since starred in Marvel’s superhero movies, including Mark Ruffalo, Scarlet Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chris Hemsworth, Idris Elba, Josh Brolin, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Pratt.
