As upsetting as it is, Coronavirus has lead people to lock themselves in with no luxury of having food delivered at their doorstep or having any social gatherings. Well, this situation has certainly lead many to try their hand at different things to keep them occupied. Some are brushing up their skills in cooking while others are learning another language.

One such celeb who’s tied up with flaunting her talent is the starlet Saboor Aly who surprised us with her top-notch painting skills. The starlet has kept herself occupied with the things she loves to do.

The actress posted on her Instagram saying how work had gotten the best of her and she was unable to spare to time for her love of colors. Saboor Aly decided to reconnect with her talent and proved that she can totally be an artist if she decided to part ways from the entertainment industry!

PTA Assures Customers That There’s Sufficient Internet Capacity During The Lockdown

As the world fights the novel coronavirus, it seems like the world is already collapsing. From the bans to the lockdowns, it sure seems like everything’s coming to an end. The deadly virus has affected thousands of people all across the world.

Internet usage sees spike and customers are unhappy

Amid the outbreak, internet usage rose locally and globally due to the lockdown. In Pakistan, internet usage rose to 15% in a matter of one week due to the people stay at homes, as said by the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA).

In an official tweet on Thursday, PTA addressed and assured all the users that the country had “sufficient internet capacity” for the COVID-19 lockdown.

They further clarified as to why the users are experiencing problems saying, 

The increase has been observed due to increased online activities by educational institutions and businesses and, ‘work from home’ policy adopted by individuals and organizations,

There is sufficient internet capacity available in the country to meet the growing demands of the future,” it added. “PTA has been closely monitoring the internet usage patterns so as to ensure that fast & efficient telecom services remain available to the consumers in this difficult time.

Emirates Refuses Full Refunds On Cancelled Flights

Emirates grounded its fleet on Wednesday after the UAE closed down the country’s airports in order to curb the spread of COVID-19. The Coronavirus pandemic has caused most countries to closed down their borders. This decision has left passengers, stuck in different countries stranded without a commute option.

According to the EU regulations, any airline that would cancel a flight should provide a full cash refund within a week. However, the Dubai based carrier has asked customers to accept vouchers that can be repayable in a year. Emirates has also asked passengers wanting a refund to pay a cancellation fee which has caused an outrage amongst the customers!

The airline believes it will take them much longer to process so many refunds and encourages the customers to opt for the travel vouchers instead. However, this news has angered people who have been waiting for refunds from Emirates especially since other airlines have given passengers the refund option.

A spokesperson for Emirates has said:

“Customers can opt for travel vouchers which can be easily processed on our website. These vouchers can be used against future Emirates flights within 12 months. If vouchers are not utilised after 12 months, they can still be brought to us for refunds.”

A quick search on Twitter with ’emirates refund’ will yield a plethora of tweets from 100’s of disgruntled customers asking for a full refund and bashing the airlines for poor customer service.

This customer states that they have been asked to pay an extra 900 Euros to cancel an already cancelled flight!

A passenger has been asked to pay $550 for the cancellation instead of being given a refund.

While some had future flights cancelled, there are many who have been stranded in other countries unable to go home.

Some customers conduct a full research and have brought forward the Emirates Carriage Article listed on their website.

It seems like Emirates not agreeing to refund the amounts for flights cancelled could very possibly lead to the airline loosing many loyal customers.

Emirates personnel are working towards providing a solution that is suitable to all. The airline however, has come up with an alternative which is customers can choose to keep the basic booking and then use it at any time for a similar routing within two years – regardless of high-season charges.

A spokesperson further mentioned,

“We will accept the fare you paid for any flight at any time within this period.”

Pakistani Automotive Part Makers Offer to Manufacture Ventilators & Medical Equipment!

To help with the current Coronavirus outbreak in Pakistan, the Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts and Accessories Manufacturers (PAAPAM) has offered to manufacture ventilators and other medical equipment.

The authority forwarded a letter to the Engineering Development Board offering its help in view of the spread of the virus and how the country will be in need of more ventilators if the situation continues to remain unstable.

The body, in the letter, praised the efforts the Government of Pakistan has taken by far to deal with this sensitive situation. They even thanked the government for relaxing duty and import duty on the import of medical equipment and other goods.

The letter reads:

We heard about the request from various government forums to explore the possibility of manufacturing vital medical equipment like ventilators in Pakistan.

The list of other imported medical items is long and the manufacturing of these goods will be considered keeping in view the population of the country and the import bill.

The Engineering Development Board, being the entity which looks after us, is assured of our fullest cooperation in the ongoing efforts for the development and manufacturing of medical equipment and items.

NHMP Closes Motorway for all Kinds of Traffic

On Thursday, National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) announced that all motorways are being closed for passenger traffic in order to contain the novel coronavirus from spreading.

The public notice was issued on NMPH’s official twitter account emphasizing that entry of all public service vehicles shall be prohibited on all motorways.

The Motorway M1 from Peshawar to Islamabad, M2 from Islamabad to Lahore, M3 from Faisalabad to Pindi Bhatian, M4 from Faisalabad to Gojra, M5 from Multan to Sukkur, M9 Karachi-Hyderabad and M-11 Lahore to Sialkot motorway has been closed for all kinds of traffic.

The decision comes in right after Sindh and Punjab have imposed a lockdown for 15 days amid the rapid spread of the virus in the region.

However, transportation of essential items required for survival during the pandemic such as medical supplies, fresh produce, food items, emergency equipment, fuel will be allowed to go through the routes.

It is greatly emphasized that these carriers must travel with the minimum crew as chances of the virus spreading city to city will increase if huge amounts of people travel across the country by road.

Only in case of emergency, private vehicles may be allowed to travel given that only 2 people can travel in the same vehicle.

17 Countries with No Reported Cases of Coronavirus

There are at least 17 countries in the world that have not been affected by the novel coronavirus while 170 countries including superpowers of the world have been hit hard by COVID-19.

The virus initially emerged in a Chinese city called Wuhan in late December’19. Since then, new cases have emerged throughout the globe as people traveled far away carrying the virus on a daily basis.

As reported by Al Jazeera, 21,000 + people have died due to COVID-19 while 472,000+ people have been tested positive for the deadly virus. Nearly, 115,000 people have recovered from the virus.

The countries that have not reported any cases of the virus include:

District Central In Karachi Has Been Most Affected By Coronavirus!

As the virus spreads rapidly, globally, countries have now started taking preventive measures. According to a report, the most affected area by the novel coronavirus in Karachi is said to be the District Central in Karachi.

Speaking of District Central, the areas which come under it are Gulberg, North Nazimabad, Liaquatabad, and North Karachi. So far, 89 cases have been registered for the deadly virus.

According to Geo News, 45 coronavirus cases have been reported in the District East. The District East comprises of Gadap, Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Jamshed Town. The number of reported cases in the District East makes it the second-most affected area.

Meanwhile, District South has confirmed 41 cases, one in District Korangi and three in District Malir. The total number of cases in Karachi, according to these numbers in 179.

On Wednesday, Pakistan crossed the mark of 1000 reported cases which is indeed not a good sight to witness. So far, eight deaths from the deadly virus have also been reported.

We can call hope and pray for the situation to get better because the numbers are only increasing globally.

Pakistani Students Develop a Kit to Identify COVID-19 Patients

Two Pakistani Students from Gulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI), Mohammad Alem and Rahul Raj have developed a device that may diagnose coronavirus within 20 seconds through AI, reports ProPakistani.

Limited testing kits and extended waiting time to get results for the deadly virus had motivated the two to turn to technology and invent testing kits that show quick results amid increasing cases of COVID-19 in the country.

A timely diagnosis of the patient will limit the chances of cross-infection to other people, to a greater extent as doctors will be able to treat and isolate the affected patients earlier than before.

As of now, there are 1098 confirmed coronavirus cases in Pakistan while 8 people have lost their lives, confirms Dawn.

Apparently, the two genius students used computed tomography (CT) scan of the lungs to detect COVID-19.

The AI-powered device can perform analysis on CT scans and with 92% accuracy detect whether someone has been infected with the virus within 20 seconds.

The device developed by GIKI students holds the power to locate the exact amount of impact and severity of the damage inflicted on the lungs other than speed and accuracy.

The students have requested the government of Pakistan to asses and provide them with resources so they can begin the production of the device for the masses.

Sindh Govt. Introduces Mobile Service For Ration Distribution Among Daily Wagers

Amid the coronavirus outbreak all across the globe, many different organizations and individuals are working to help those affected by this novel virus. As many are struggling to earn their daily wage, these helpful organizations are helping those in need by providing them the necessities they reserve.

The Sindh government, on Tuesday, decided to launch a mobile service in the province to provide ration to the needy and daily wagers affected by the coronavirus outbreak.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said during a meeting at the CM House, “We will dedicate a number for this cause”. He also added, “Those who need ration can text on the number.”

Keeping in mind the daily wagers, he emphasized more on making them our priority and helping them as much as we can because they earn on a daily basis through their makeshift setups like food stalls, etc. He further added that he wants a mechanism to be formulated to help these individuals.

He also discusses various ways of distributing the ration among the daily wagers by taking feedback and input from the heads of the different welfare organizations, who were also the meeting attendees.

Moreover, since the government has already set up an application, a 4-digit number would be approved on which, the ones in need of ration could get assistance.

Suspected COVID-19 Carrier in Private Bank Tested Negative for Virus [Watch Video]

Videos have been circulating around social media which shows that a team of rescue workers have sealed a bank.

It is being reported that a male in the bank was a suspected Coronavirus carrier.

While some say the branch was Baker Mandi branch, Lahore, other are saying its Bakra Mandi, Rawalpindi.

Reportedly, the man has tested negative.

Rumours had been circulating that all employees of the branch were tested positive .

But, nothing official had come forth in regards from the bank itself.

In the videos, we can see only one male is escorted out with his face and body fully covered so that he cannot transmit the virus to another person.

We have reached out to the bank for an official statement. Meanwhile, it is very important to highlight that these employees are risking their lives working from their respective branches for customers.

It is important that bank operations continue so that transaction is carried out and life can go about.

There are more than 1500 UBL branches and about 15,000 employees who are dealing with many individuals, many of them who may be infected.

Banks can take precautionary methods to protect their employees, however, you can not stop the inevitable. But, what you can do is be responsible citizens, stay home, opt for online transactions, use gloves and masks and follow guidelines set by authorities to keep yourself, your family, and others around safe.

Pakistani Shopkeepers Are Selling Fake Products Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

The coronavirus pandemic continues to cause unrest and chaos in our lives as it spreads rapidly globally. This has led to a lockdown in many countries across the world including Pakistan.

With people stockpiling items that are essential in the fight against COVID-19 shortages have begun in various areas, leaving a gap for counterfeit goods to enter the market. In a situation such as this, people sometimes in a rush miss out on the details and could purchase a fake item instead of the original one.

Such incidents have begun in Karachi where a customer pointed out fake Dettol products being sold at shops. The person mentioned they are being sold at a grocery store.

As seen in the picture, the top says Dattol instead of Dettol. However, the people making these counterfeit detail wipes have copied the rest of the packaging using the same colours as Detail, which are green and white.

The back of the product mentions the company name manufacturing these as, ‘International Marketing Company’ calling the product itself, ‘Super Dattol Plus.’

A few days back when sanitizers were being purchased in large quantities, there was a copy of Dettol sanitiser being sold in the market. The difference in packaging was noticed by consumers, and it was noticed that it does not catch a flame and smells different too from the original.

Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Foundation Donation Arrives in Karachi to Help Fight Against COVID-19

Karachi, Pakistan, March 25 – Today, the first batch of the much-needed medical supplies donated by the Jack Ma Foundation and the Alibaba Foundation arrived in Pakistan.

The shipment is part of the donation of medical supplies to 10 Asian countries announced on March 21. Collectively, the nations will receive a total of 1.8 million masks; kits for testing 210,000 people, 36,000 pieces of protective clothing, as well as essential medical equipment such as ventilators and forehead thermometers.

The National Disaster Management Authority, Government of Pakistan will transport and distribute the supplies throughout the country. Mr. Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh, Pakistan took receipt of the donations from Ehsan Saya, Managing Director for Daraz in Pakistan in representation of the two foundations. Also present on the occasion were Mr.Li Bijian, Consul General of China to Karachi and Mr. Zhang Hao, Vice Consul of China to Karachi. Mr. Li Bijian, Consul General of China to Karachi, said, “Since the outbreak of the pandemic in Pakistan, Government and people of China have been showing our solidarity with and providing assistance to our iron brother Pakistan.” On behalf of His Excellency Mr. Yao Jing, Ambassador of China to Pakistan, Mr. Li expressed his sincere thanks to Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Foundation for their generous donation. He added, “the efforts by the Federal and Provincial Governments of Pakistan to deal with the pandemic have been very strong and impressive.” He was firmly convinced that armed with today’s donation, Pakistan will eventually win the battle against the pandemic.

“We hope the donation will strengthen Pakistan’s fight against COVID-19 and prevent further community spread of the virus. We are committed to doing everything we can to make a difference, especially overcoming the tough logistical challenges for delivery and getting the medical supplies to where it is needed most as fast as we can,” said the Jack Ma Foundation.

This donation is among a number of aid initiatives from the Alibaba Foundation and Jack Ma Foundation to support the areas of the world most affected by the Covid-19 crisis, sourcing and delivering various types of medical supplies to Asia, United States, Africa, Italy, Belgium, France, Slovenia, Spain and Latin America.

The Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Foundation also supported the publication of a handbook with key lessons and experience from doctors, healthcare workers, and hospital administrators at the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine (FAHZU), who were on the frontline of COVID-19 treatment in China and crucial to slowing its spread. Drama Serial “Mere Pass Tum Ho” Will be Returning to TV Screens

Khalil-ur-Rehman’s blockbuster drama “Mere Pass Tum Ho” is all set to return to TV at the end of this month (30th March). Apparently, the writer made it to the headlines for abusing and a journalist, Marvi Sirmed on live on national television just recently.

The popular drama features Humayun Saeed, Ayeza Khan and Adnan Siddiqui in lead roles.

The drama serial which is based on themes of love, greed, and hatred will be aired from the end of this month at 10 pm on ARY Digital.

Directed by Nadeem Baig, the drama won seven awards in Pakistan International Screen Awards in both viewers’ and critics’ choice categories.

Coronavirus: Disney +, Instgram, Facebook, Netflix, and YouTube Downgrade Streaming

To ensure a smooth sail during the lockdown in Europe because of the coronavirus pandemic, social media giants have taken a decision to downgrade their streaming services including Disney +, Facebook, Instagram, Netflix, and Youtube.

Facebook and Instagram are the latest to respond to the request as they will be joining other video streaming services such as Netflix and Youtube in downgrading streaming services by throttling bandwidth to help broadband systems cope with the increase in demand caused by anti-Coronavirus measures.

A website called Silicon confirms that Facebook will downgrade video streaming quality in Europe while Disney will be delaying its launch in France on request. Reportedly, Amazon Prime and Apple TV have also joined the clan.

The official statement from Netflix says, “Netflix has confirmed to date, though, by saying that “In the coming days, we will be monitoring Internet congestion and working closely with Internet service providers to further reduce bitrates as necessary to ensure they are not overwhelmed by consumer demand.”

“We are making a commitment to temporarily switch all traffic in the EU to standard definition by default,” says the Youtube’s official statement.

Thierry Breton, EU commissioner for Internal Market says the extra bandwidth is required for students and healthcare providers. These measures are taken to make sure the users do not overload the infrastructure during the pandemic.

Pakistan’s Tally Of Coronavirus Cases Has Crossed 1000!

The number of Pakistan’s coronavirus tally has surged to 1,000 with new cases emerging in Islamabad, GB, and Balochistan. Moreover, Sindh being the largest province remains the worst hit with most reported cases.

According to the latest update, three new cases have been reported in Sindh and five in Balochistan. One new case has also been reported in Gilgit Baltistan and Islamabad.

As the numbers of cases increase rapidly, strict measures are now being taken to contain the spread of this novel coronavirus. From locking down the cities to announcing curfews, the country is really putting in all their effort the goodwill of their citizens.

As of today, the total number of reported coronavirus cases has risen to 1,035. As per the provinces, here are the numbers.

Sindh – 410
Punjab – 296 
Islamabad – 16
Balochistan – 115
KP – 117
AJK/GB – 82

with 7 reported deaths and 19 recovered cases
