Proton Is Celebrating Its First Milestone In Pakistan

Proton and new milestone achieved

When it comes to automobiles, Pakistan is certainly making a mark on the world. There is no doubt that the industry is starting to rise in the country and it is a good sign. Remember the time when we came across the pandemic last right? Despite the dire situation, Pakistan seems to be growing at a steady rate. Now, an automobile brand, Proton, has decided to celebrate the completion of a milestone.

Over the last months, we have seen many car brands enter Pakistan. They are not only known for their newness but also how much they are willing to invest here. Proton is a brand that came out with an SUV by the name of Proton X70. Its features are extremely impressive and not many can give it a hard competition. When it first came out, people were a bit sceptical of it because not many had heard of it. Once the reviews started pouring in, it quickly became one of the most popular ones in Pakistan.

Achieving a Milestone:

So, what is this milestone that everyone is talking about? Due to Proton being a relatively new company here, it is understandable if the achievement itself is not over the moon. So, what has happened is that Proton has successfully sold 1000 units in Lahore. We are looking at the company collectively here so the number of sedans and SUVs can differ.

However, seeing how impressed the public was with the Proton X70, it is no doubt those 1000 units have already been sold. The company promised to deliver on quality and they did not compromise anywhere. The vehicle itself is a 1500cc SUV with two variants in it. There is the AWD version as well as the FWD version. A lot can depend on a budget but the final choice comes down to preference too.

Proton Rising High:

While it may not be as old as some titans in the country, the brand certainly has made a good first impression. Of course, first impressions can also change but we have not seen anything like that yet. The company is celebrating its milestone on social media and they have every right to do so. This also shows the public that the brand is not lagging, it’s bounding forward.

Where there is the SUV, there is also the release of the Proton Saga. It is a sedan that took the world by storm a few weeks back. People were aware of its development but they weren’t sure of its release. However, unlike the X70, here the people weren’t doubtful at first because the first vehicle launch was good.

If you wish to check out the specifications on these vehicles, do look them up. The Proton X70 itself is quite cheaper as compared to the rest of the SUVs in the domain. Its current price rating is between Rs.46 to Rs.50 Lac. We hope that the brand continues to rise high and surprise us with more vehicles in the future.

Pakistani Groom Reciting The Quran For His Bride Is Winning Hearts

Weddings are the biggest day in the lives of many and the way this couple celebrated their own has won many people’s hearts.

Groom Graces The Event

In a recently held wedding function, the groom took everyone’s breath away with his Tilawat of the Quran. He decided to recite it for his wife and his recitation was the kind you hear at Makkah and Madina.

It was truly something to experience and we can’t imagine how elated the wife must be. The moment was also captured beautifully by Irfan Ahsan who shared it on social media instantly.

Netizens Shower Their Love

Netizens were over the moon to see this dedication and to hear the groom’s Tilawat. The comments section was flooded with well-wishes for the couples and expressions of how proud and happy people felt.

Trend-setter Groom?

Generally, elders have always stressed at wedding functions that the best gift a groom can give to his wife is reciting the Quran for her. It appears this groom was the one who paid heed to the advice and now he might be setting trends.

Reciting the Quran at a wedding can grace and bless the function more than anything. It’s a sign that the couple is beginning their life together with the word of Him and that He is not forgotten in the big celebrations.

There Is No Right or Wrong

Irfan Ahsan tends to delete all negative comments on his social media but many expressed their reservations with this. Many believe this should have been done privately. They believe reciting the Holy Book and publicising it like this takes away the sanctity of it.

Others jumped to say that the relationship between a person and Him is to be left between them. Private or public, the groom took an initiative for which he must be appreciated. People express their love in different ways!

Biggest Wedding Trends

Though we are more than inspired and in awe of the Groom’s tilawat, we can’t help but be mesmerised by the decor behind. One of the latest wedding trends is an all-glass decor with huge flower arrangements and chandeliers. Found any inspo for your wedding decor yet?

Moreover, how adorable is it that the couple is blending in their decor? It looks like a harmonious affair of colours and bling. We wish them a very happy and prosperous life ahead!

Karachiites Share Their Most Spine-Chilling Horror Experiences

Horror stories make for a good pastime and even a good topic for a casual family gathering. So we got in touch with people to share some horror experiences, and 4 Karachiites did. Have a look at the spine-chilling horror experiences they shared.

1. The Fajr Alarm

She shares she was sleeping. And like every morning, her mother came to wake her up. She usually threw tantrums, but that day she did not. Her mom woke her up and indicated for her to follow behind. Like clockwork, she did. Her mother walked straight from the lighted room to the ‘dark’ corridor. That stood out because her mother always switched on the light, so she stopped. She called out to her mom, who had gone to the far end of the dark corridor. And she heard her response. Only that it came from the room on her right. Apparently, her mom had not yet woken up.

2. Restaurant trip goes wrong

Someone tells us the story of a restaurant trip with her cousins. They went together okay. But one of them returned a little differently. This cousin started talking with a different voice. It was as if a woman had possessed her. The character would make threatening remarks against the girl’s sister and needed to stay locked up. Even though she would be locked, mysterious bruises would appear all over the girl’s body.

3. The knocks

A person shares that he believes his room is haunted. He said to have seen someone standing on multiple occasions from the corner of his eyes. So it is like every other day for him, having to experience supernatural events.

So one day, he returned to his house tired and went to his bed. But her start hearing knocks on his headrest. At first, he got scared. But then, really tired, he says that he requested them ‘not today please’. And they stopped.

4. The voices

One other person shares their story. He said that he lives in a house with some of his friends. So this one fine day, he was home alone when he heard the door slam shut. He took a stroll around the house but did not find anyone else, nor did he see anyone’s car. So he locked the door and went upstairs. This was when he started hearing someone smashing the pots and plates in the kitchen. He knew there was no one in the whole house, so he got scared. But when he saw that the smashing has continued for a good 5 minutes, he started reciting all duas he knows. And the voices started getting dimmer and eventually died out.

Did you like the stories? Do you think they are haunted? If you believe you have more horror stories than these, message us on Facebook, and we just might feature them.

Here’s How This Pakistani Man Lost 45kgs In A Year

Lost 45kgs

Residing in UAE, this Pakistani man lost 45Kgs in just one year and has left everyone intrigued.

Muhammad Irfan, a 37 year old Pakistani, discussed his life before the weight loss with Gulf News. In his talk with them, he informed that he used to weigh 135 kg. And as a result, even a short flight of stairs would leave him huffing and puffing. And any activity would leave him aching all over.

The Diet

But then, he met a friend who had lost weight and changed his life, Irfan decided to follow suit. After some research on Youtube, he adopted lemon, honey, and warm water, which he drinks religiously to this day. As for the rest of his diet, he abandoned rice and roti, replacing it with grilled chicken and fruits. And he would prefer eating cucumbers and lettuce whenever he felt hungry. Not to forget, he completely let go of dinners and would stop talking to friends who would entice him with snacks.

Exercise Routine

Diet is not everything. And Irfan knew that. So he started working out his exercise routine as well. The exercise included running. Now, at 135kgs, it was not possible. So, in the beginning, he was only walking. But slowly and gradually, his body began to adjust, and in 15 days, he was jogging. A further 15 days later, he started running.

So now the exercise routine looks somewhat like this:

  • Running for 12 km
  • Skipping ropes 1800 times
  • Climbing ten flights of stairs

But one thing he could not give up was gulab jamun. And that’s when he got to know that a single gulab jamun takes 30 minutes of exercise to burn. And that affected him. He said he did 40 minutes of exercise that day.

The Resulting Change

With such a grilling routine in place, within a few months, Irfan’s face even started changing. He recalls that his banker even accused him of identity theft. And not just the banker; his wife and daughter needed much reassuring when he met them at the airport after two years of being away.

Now with this routine, he lost 45kgs and was able to get to 87. But he aims to lose 12 kgs more. So, he will have to intensify his routine because the routine has stabilized his weight. The intensive exercise will probably include sandbags and punching.

But it has quite been a journey; from wearing XXL and 43 waist size, he now buys medium-sized T-shirts and 32 waist pants.

This 7up TVC Has A Lot To Say About Pakistani Families & Showing Love

7up TVC
Image Sources: Brandsynario

This latest TVC by 7UP perfectly embodies family dynamics in Pakistan while emphasising the importance of non-verbal gestures and displays of affection, all made possible by our favourite drink.

The Ad Has A Simple, Sweet Message

The ad opens with a tense atmosphere as a father and son are sitting on a table, stoic and quiet while the mother makes herself scarce. Hesitantly, we realise the son is about to apologise for bumping the car. However, a simple gesture such as the father pouring 7UP for the son immediately repairs the situation.

The song in the background, soft and comforting, changes the atmosphere completely and the warm light only adds to it. The lyrics, “dil thora khaali tha, bhar gaya” encapsulates the importance of affection perfectly.

Say #DilKiBaat Differently

7up TVC

In desi households, we are all used to sometimes feeling incapable of expressing our emotions. Especially when the emotions are pertaining to love and affection and that is alright. Haven’t we all found ourselves in this situation with our dads when we have done something wrong and moms can’t do anything? 7Up teaches us that there is more than one way to express love, gratitude, and understanding.

This ad also shows us how dads are often just tough love. They appear scary and distant but from the inside, they are soft and full of love. Kudos to Asif Raza Mir for playing the role brilliantly. Moreover, the son is also a relatable character who is reckless yet, must answer to his parents. The mother also adds to making the union joyful.

The story was brought to life by the acting prowess of Osama khan, Asif Raza Mir and Hina Bayat. It was especially refreshing to see that no long-winded dialogues were needed by Asif who expressed a ton of words without uttering a single one on screen.

This ad just encourages us to bring the walls down and embrace our family members with love – mistakes or without!

Have A Look At The 7UP TVC

Characters We Take For Granted

Something special that this ad does is make 7UP a character too. At the heart of this union and moment of understanding, is the drink itself. Through a cup of this chilled drink, the father shows that he understands what his son did. It is also through the food the mother puts on the table, that all three enjoy a loving meal.

This makes the ad even more relatable for us by showing us that there are a lot of objects that help us make amends. For instance, a cupcake that we give as a sorry or a bouquet or a card!

Let us know what you think about this ad in the comments below.

8 Helpful Grocery Shopping Tips Amidst COVID-19

shopping tips

COVID 19 has been hindering our day-to-day chores. Keeping that in mind, we have made a list of shopping tips that you can incorporate to do your groceries as safely as possible.

1. Wash your hands

Source/ Statnews

This ain’t no news flash, you gotta do what you gotta do to stay germ-free. If you’re heading to the market, make the last thing you do before leaving your home – and the first thing you do upon returning home – be a good hand wash. Want to wear surgical gloves? Fine, but do not let that give you a false sense of security that leads you to potentially touch your face like it’s no big deal.

2. Go early

shopping tips
Source/ VOX

Going the first thing in the morning means fewer people plus going early lessens your interaction with others and it also helps you get the products you want. Early birds get the worm and the toilet paper!

3. Be efficient

Source/ Fortune.com

Before you head out, make sure you have everything you need: reusable shopping bags, hand sanitizer, and disinfecting wipes. Make a very detailed list of the groceries you need. Limiting your time in the store limits your risk of picking up any contagion. Fomites are particulates that put you at risk and exist on door handles and shop counters, so don’t be afraid to hand sanitize or disinfect anything you need to touch.

4. Go alone

Avoid taking your toddlers or any member of your family to the store since fewer people at the store means fewer chances of catching the virus. Since we’re trying to lower any interactions, having to chase down a rogue toddler serves no one’s best interests at this time.

5. Wear a mask to keep yourself safe

Source/ Dailymail.co.uk

We’re not here to make any fashion statements, we’re here to get necessities and keep everyone safe while doing so. Several people have been using scarfs, bandanas, or creating their own masks from scratch using all kinds of fabric-like materials. Wearing a mask protects you from any air-born encounters and it also protects others in case you’re a carrier of the Coronavirus.

6. Touch your phone, face, nose, eyes as little as possible.

When going to touch items at the grocery store, you don’t want to accidentally contaminate these items or allow germs to enter your immune system which is precisely why you need to avoid touching your face.

7. Follow the six-feet-apart rule

shopping tips
Source/ ABC13

If someone is reaching for a tub of ice cream when you were thinking of heading over there, perhaps circle back to the freezer aisle after you pick up other items so no area gets too crowded.

8. Don’t hoard

Be thoughtful and courteous of others who are also shopping for their own families. Buy what you need and nothing more. We are all in this together.

Stay safe and follow all these shopping tips!

Ever since the COVID-19 made its mark on the planet in late 2019, we have seen many weddings happening around us. From small intimate gatherings to huge functions, we have witnessed every kind of wedding in this past year. Along with that, we have seen a huge rise in the number of celebrity weddings last year. Hina Altaf and Agha Ali’s wedding was also the product of the pandemic. The wedding ceremony took place in May of 2020. Next month we are going to see both of them celebrate their first wedding anniversary together. However, there is a catch.

Latest Post of Hina Altaf

Hina Altaf previously responded to netizens’ queries on why doesn’t she post a lot about her marriage on social media? In response to the questions, Altaf mentioned that she wants to keep her life private, and she feels like it is better not just to give anyone anything to talk about.

However, a recent post of Hina Altaf has created a social media frenzy, and people are going crazy about it. Hina and Agha celebrated 11 months to their marriage which seems a little off tradition as their wedding anniversary is yet to occur next month.

Hina posted a picture on social media swooning over their 11 month anniversary with some flowers and cupcakes. Not to mention that she looks extra cute.

Public’s Response

The comment section of the post was bombarded with all types of comments. Some tried to make fun of their 11-month celebration while others couldn’t stop comparing them with Sara and Falak, which actually sounds absolutely immoral to do so.

However, some mentioned that the couple is doing this to get some fame, and they are trying to copy some other big names in the industry.

Female Pakistani Student In The US Becomes Victim Of Acid Attack

Hate crimes as a direct result of racism are on the rise in the United States of America. It is evident how much the Black community has to suffer at the hands of racism from the number of people that came out of their houses to support Black Lives Matter (BLM). But other groups are also being targeted as part of hate crimes, the Asian community, alongside the Muslim community. For the latter, a female Pakistani student became the victim of a recent crime.

Female Pakistani Student targeted in the US

Almost a month ago, on March 17th, Nafiah Fatima was attacked with acid. The incident happened at 8:15 pm when she was helping her mother unload the car. The 21-year-old Nafiah goes to Hofstra University and lives at Arlington Avenue Residence. In a video obtained from the neighbor’s house, one can see that the suspect rushed towards Nafiah, so it’s clear that Nafiah was targeted.

Moreover, he was carrying a dark-colored substance in a white cup very carefully as he wore gloves. So it is clear that he knew about how dangerous the substance was. Right after he threw the acid on Nafiah, he fled the scene.

Horror descended

The moment acid touched her body, it started burning her. She screamed in pain and rushed towards the house. Her parents heard the scream and tried to help her, but because she was screaming, the acid entered her mouth, burning her throat and tongue. In trying to help their daughter, her parent also sustained burns. As for Nafiyah, she got severe burns in her eyes, face, chest, and arms. She was wearing lenses that melted in her eyes.

It is being said that she had the acid went past the throat and into the lungs, she would have died. The disaster to the eye was two folds: one, acid had gone into the eyes; and two, the lens melted. So while she survived death, she may lose her vision.

GoFundMe gathers funding for female Pakistani student

Nafiyah and her mother cannot work while the medical bills, legal fees, security keep piling up. To help with the finances, a friend initiated a GoFundMe page. The page initially had set the goal for $50,000, but as of now, it has gathered more than $420,000, and it keeps on increasing.

According to the police, the suspect is still at large. He is being said to have a height of 6 feet 2 inches. On the day of the crime, he was wearing a black colored sweatshirt on his skinny build with a hood.

Will he get caught? Will Muslims continue to face hate with little or no regulation? Or will once again the suspect of a Muslim hate crime be treated as mentally unstable?

This Old Man’s ‘Taraweeh’ Story Will Restore Your Faith In Love

taraweeh love story

Someone on Twitter shared a precious exchange they had with an aged man and the story blew up. Keep reading to restore your faith that love is indeed not yet dead.

A Taraweeh Love Story

The person on Twitter definitely knows how to tell a story. Opening with a quote as profound and moving as that one had us hooked from the start. While sitting for Taraweeh, this guy noticed how an uncle besides him had brought two bottles along with him.

There was plain water and a bottle with Rooh Afza. What may seem like a normal preparation for choice turned out to be the basis of a love story of a lifetime.

What Was Peculiar About the Bottles?

Naturally, someone would assume the Rooh Afza is for when blood sugar levels decline or when one just needs a boost of energy. However, this aged man only drank from the plain water and kept the other bottle intact. This prompted our storyteller to speak to him after Taraweeh:

Reading Taraweeh Together

Turns out, the Rooh Afza was the uncle’s wife’s (now departed) choice of drink. She passed away two years ago until which they used to read Taraweeh together. This would have been their 26th Taraweeh round as the “Taya ji” noted. Now he comes alone and also reads her share of Taraweeh.

However, what has left us emotional is how he is still in service to her. He, not only still makes the Rooh Afza bottle out of love for her memory but also trying to get more sawab to her. He, himself, says that he makes it to give to whoever is thirsty, so that his wife may be credited. If that’s not love, we don’t know what is!

This Story Has A Moral

The moral of the story is firstly to be kind to strangers. Lend a helping hand or a listening ear, we don’t know what baggage people are carrying with them. This man carries the loss of his wife on his shoulders each time he comes to Taraweeh, maybe this exchange lightened his heart a little.

The other lesson is to love our loved ones as strongly as we can. We may never know which moments with them may be our last. This is also something the pandemic has made us see the value of. Go out there and hug your parents, siblings, grandparents today!

Shahroz Sabzwari Jogging Without A Shirt Sparks Controversy

Shahroz Sabzwari’s evening jog is equal parts discomforting and inappropriate. Naturally, the netizens have not kept their silence and gone after the actor.

Burning The Iftari?

It’s true that somehow in Ramadan, despite fasting, we often tend to gain weight. We assume that because of such a long fast, we must eat whatever we can. Without minimal exercise too, the weight creeps upon us. However, Shahroz Sabzwari is not one of those people.

Being an actor, he is clearly keeping himself fit despite the Iftari pakoras and Sehri parathas. Sabzwari was spotted jogging his calories off – no harm in that, right? But the way he was doing that has sparked another controversy.

What’s The Appropriate Jogging Attire?

A post shared by Burn Book (@kitabjalao)

Shahroz Sabzwari, alongside two other friends, went out for an evening jog while barely wearing anything. These men were confidently jogging while being scantily dressed in only gym shorts – not even the regular knee-length shorts!

It also appears they were proud of this or were enjoying this act because they got it filmed! The headlights of someone behind, also gave these men the spotlight they needed to put up a “cool story”.

Sabzwari Made His Bed, Now He Must Lie In It

This proverbial saying might not fit anyone more than it fits Shahroz Sabzwari. He has a penchant for deliberately putting up blatantly offensive or controversial things which would attract hate. Now again he put up this story and must suffer the consequences.

Here is also what’s going on in the netizens’ mind:

Should This Be A Point of Controversy?

Many supporters of Sabzwari would argue no! Let him wear what he wants to when he’s exercising. Men wear similar attire in gyms too, there’s nothing wrong with that. He is also only minding his business.

However, the controversy is stemming from the double standards this video exposes. If a woman was jogging in only a sports top and shorts, would it be acceptable? Sabzwari is practically naked but his choice of attire won’t reflect on the morality of the society. Why is it the other way around?

Moreover, France banning Muslim women from covering their bodies has also sparked similar debates. The clothing of women has always been more than just an outfit, it’s meant to signify society, family, piety and so on. For Sabzwari to jog like this is a misuse of privilege and its acceptance is an exposition of society’s double standards.

This New Ad By Adidas Gives An Inspiring Message To Viewers

adidas

The German brand, Adidas, is famous for its sportswear. In their recent ad, they decided to leave an inspiring message for their consumers. To do that, they featured the basketball player, Damian Lillard. There, he talks about his trust in himself and the willingness to achieve his goals.

Basketball player and Adidas

Damian Lillard talks about how he never doubted himself. And it was because of that that he was able to be where he is now, going from a high-school basketball player to Portland Trail Blazers. Not only that, but he also believed that he could up his game every time, and he was able to!

And thus, this ad portrays perfectly the message ‘impossible is nothing’.

Impossible is nothing

The message ‘impossible is nothing’ is not hard to understand. But it certainly takes willpower to incorporate into our lifestyle. What it denotes is accurately explained by Muhammad Ali:

“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

According to this, impossible is a phenomenon people use as an excuse not to do something. But it is only that; it has no factual reality because if you set down your goal and work towards it, you would most definitely achieve it.

The message in the ad is certainly inspiring, but while watching the ad, it reminds the viewers, or at least me, of another ad—an ad by Nike, a rival company, featuring Kobe Bryant. Although the message is different, the way a celebrity has been used gives a similar vibe to Nike. How about you check that out as well and then form an opinion about it?

Good news for Apple lovers. Apple is about to give a brand new touch to iPhone 12 making it purple. The iPhone 12 and Mini resemble the purple iPhone for all its purposes. A flat design with support for 5G and OLED screen. Apple ceramic shield covers the screen. The body has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance and supports MagSafe wireless charging and accessories. It has the same A14 Bionic processor, runs the same iOS 14 software, and even has the same cameras.

In the launch comes the MagSafe Leather Case and Leather Sleeve that is both offered in Deep Violet. Apple says that all-new purple “beautifully accentuates the flat aluminum edges of iPhone 12, which are perfectly color-matched to the precision-milled back glass.”

The Launch Update of iPhone 12

The announcement of the new purple iPhone was made at the Apple event. The seasonal event comes in time for the spring to revamp your phone just like your fashion accessories. The new iPhone comes exactly after six months of the launch of the Apple 12 series. The timing seems perfect for the launch of the newly colored body as rumors of an iPhone 13 releasing this fall are increasing.

Available for order

The newly launched iPhone will be available to order from 23 April onwards. However, if you can’t wait to get your hands on the fresh version, hop on to new accessories to protect and complement its head-turning hue starting on April 20.

The price of the new iPhone is the same as its previously launched counterparts. The public can’t stop swooning over the newly announced color, and it’s safe to say that the hype is enough to get the phone some attention.

While Apple is going to drop the iPhone 13 later in September or October, this is still a fantastic update for anyone that needs an iPhone upgrade right now.

Girl Gets Harassed After Sharing Her Number For COVID Emergency

Domestic Violence Bill

Social media has been an immense help in these COVID times as it has helped reduce the distance for many during the lockdown. Alongside that, it has also aided in connecting people in need medically or economically. You must have seen various covid emergency posts coming up all over the social media platforms and they have been helpful to many as well because people want to help each other in these troubling times.

However, it seems that while social media has been a help, the people it connects with may not be all that helpful, in fact, they can be very much a source of harassment. This is exactly what happened with a girl last week.

Shasvathi contacts social media for covid emergency

Shasvathi Siva, an Indian girl was worried about her aunt’s health ever since she contracted COVID. Everyone is experiencing different extent of COVID so while doctors are suggesting quarantining at home. When the health worsens severely, patients have to be taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, however, hospitals are full and are lacking enough ventilators to accommodate patients.

So for this reason, Shasvathi decided to take on the help of social media. Within a few hours, she had found the ventilator for her aunt.

Situation goes critical

Within a couple of days, the health condition of her aunt went critical. They needed plasma donors for her. So once again, Shasvathi went to Twitter asking for people’s help. As it goes, several people reshared her request. And some of her friends even added her personal number for quick connection. But given how the men are, she ended up regretting it.

Instead of getting a plasma donor whom she urgently needed for a COVID emergency, people started harassing her. They asked her out on dates, giving her unsolicited comments, and wanted to know her relationship status.

She continued blocking all those numbers but they poured in without pause and the level of harassment kept heightening with time. She even got obscene and inappropriate pictures on her WhatsApp account.

Exhausted, she took to Twitter her experience and asked women to ensure their number never gets circulated on media even if it is an emergency because men do not even factor that when they want to harass.
