Apple Watch Ultra vs Series 9:Which One To Invest In?

Source: IGN

Choosing an Apple Watch has become quite the challenge lately. From the latest Series 9 to the Ultra 2 and the revamped second-gen SE, the options can overwhelm even the tech-savvy. But fear not,we have navigated these smartwatches’ closely and stand ready to guide you through the array of choices.

Initially, picking an Apple Watch was straightforward—big or small? But with each iteration, Apple expanded horizons. Cellular connectivity, a budget-friendly SE now in its second rendition, and the rugged Ultra have diversified the lineup, making decisions more intricate.

Finding Your Fit: Considering Size, Material, and Straps

The arrival of the Series 9 and Ultra 2 heralds discounts on older models as retailers clear inventory. This fall through the holidays marks a golden window for a premium last-gen model at lower rates. The Series 7, 8, and 9 sport incremental hardware updates; the real game-changers are in software enhancements.

So, how do you navigate through these choices?

Firstly, let’s consider your wrist. The SE and Series models offer 40mm and 44mm sizes, catering to readability and comfort. Opting for aluminum suffices for most, but stainless steel provides sturdiness—a plus point for the accident-prone. Comfort is key, so choose wisely.

Straps matter too. The breathable nylon sport loop reigns supreme for ease and comfort. Yet, for those fashion-conscious, Amazon or Etsy unveil a trove of options beyond Apple’s lineup. However, Apple’s discontinuation of leather accessories might shift your focus to other alternatives like FineWoven.

Then there’s the Ultra and Ultra 2—big and rugged at 49mm, decked in titanium and tailored for adventurers. Their specialized straps—trail, alpine, and ocean loops—cater to runners, hikers, and divers, allowing personal touch in the choice.

Decoding the Trio: Series 9, SE, and Ultra 2

Now, onto the trio—the Series 9, SE, and Ultra 2—each tailored for distinct users. The Series 9 shines as the flagship, packing the latest features and the swiftest processor. Meanwhile, the SE, a budget-friendly entry, sacrifices some features but maintains the Apple Watch essence. And the Ultra 2 caters to the adventurous souls, boasting durability and battery life beyond compare.

However, when budget is tight, the new SE stands tall, offering futureproof hardware without breaking the bank. A gateway device for newcomers or a savvy investment for seasoned users looking to balance cost and features.

But beware the refurbished market. While tempting, tread cautiously—older models like the Series 3 might offer a bargain but lack software compatibility, potentially leaving you without digital connectivity which apple should usually offer.

So, as Black Friday deals come in, weigh your options, consider your needs, and venture forth confidently into the realm of Apple Watches—your perfect fit awaits.

Pace bowler Haris Rauf has been under the fire recently after Wahab Riaz threw him under the bus over his unavailability for the Test tour of Australia.

Newly appointed Chief Selector Wahab Riaz revealed an 18-man squad for Pakistan’s upcoming Test tour to Australia during a press conference held on November 20.

The announcement, however, came with criticism directed at Haris Rauf for his reluctance to play in the longer format.

Reports suggest that, Haris Rauf, feels distressed and bothered by the unjust criticisms he has been facing recently.

Sources close to the pacer disclosed that Rauf is in Karachi for the National T20 Championship but is striving to ensure his mental, physical, and form readiness before resuming Test cricket.

“Haris is upset with the unwarranted criticism during the World Cup campaign. Critics who lack insights are questioning his form and consistency in picking wickets,” shared a close family source.

Rauf believes that he needs mental and physical preparedness to navigate the demands of Test cricket, requiring heightened alertness throughout the five-day game.

The insider highlighted Rauf’s focus on the shorter format to bolster readiness for Tests and other international commitments.

Haris Rauf made his international debut in January 2020, featuring in a T20I match against Bangladesh in Lahore. Despite this, his First-Class appearances amount to just nine matches. His solitary Test appearance was against England in December 2022, where he bowled 13 overs before exiting the field due to a fitness concern.

Wahab Riaz mentioned that Haris Rauf initially agreed to play against Australia but later declined, a claim countered by ESPN Cricinfo, stating that the pacer never assented to the longer format due to concerns about his fitness level.

AI Diagnoses Diabetes In Record 10 Seconds Through Voice

Source: Verywell Health

Researchers have unveiled a groundbreaking study indicating that the sound of a person’s voice could potentially become a key factor in diagnosing type 2 diabetes. The study, conducted by scientists, introduces a new method that utilizes voice recordings to accurately screen individuals for diabetes, all within a span of six to ten seconds.

Voice Analysis for Diabetes Detection

A team of researchers at Klick Applied Sciences crafted a highly accurate tool by analyzing short voice clips from participants, some with diabetes and others without, recorded through their smartphones. The study revealed that alterations in pitch and voice strength played a significant role in diagnosing diabetes.

Say what: AI can diagnose type 2 diabetes in 10 seconds from your voice
Source: Diabetes UK

With the aid of a smartphone application, 267 participants in India—comprising 192 individuals without diabetes and 75 diagnosed with diabetes—recorded short voice clips multiple times a day for two weeks. Through detailed analysis of 18,465 recordings, 14 distinct acoustic characteristics were measured, enabling the creation of a precise tool for identifying diabetes.

Gender-Specific Diagnostic Indicators

The study found that distinct voice characteristics signified type 2 diabetes differently in men and women. Changes in pitch were crucial for diagnosing diabetes in women, whereas variations in voice strength or amplitude were key indicators for men.

How AI Enables Diagnosis

Lead author Jaycee M. Kaufman emphasized the use of AI and machine learning techniques, which enabled the detection of subtle vocal changes indicative of type 2 diabetes. The tool developed by Klick Applied Sciences exhibited an impressive accuracy of 0.89 for women and 0.86 for men in diagnosing diabetes.

Potential Implications and Future Directions

Kaufman highlighted the significance of this advancement, envisioning a future where individuals could perform initial diabetes screening at home using such technology. Confirmatory diagnosis would then be sought from healthcare providers if an initial risk is detected.

Experts not involved in the study, like Dr. Ari S. Eckman and Dr. Jason Ng, emphasized the potential value of this tool in tracking diabetes progression and simplifying patient diagnoses. Dr. Ng stressed the necessity for innovative screening tools due to limited access to healthcare, while Dr. Eckman highlighted its potential in assessing diabetes control and health progress.

The Promise of Digital Medicine

Kaufman expressed enthusiasm about the impact of this study on early detection and intervention for type 2 diabetes, potentially reducing complications associated with undiagnosed diabetes. She underscored the profound effect such technology could have on accessibility challenges related to screening.

This groundbreaking study heralds a new era in healthcare, showcasing the power of technology and voice analysis in revolutionizing the diagnosis and management of type 2 diabetes. The advancements in digital medicine hold promise for early detection, intervention, and improved accessibility in diabetes care.

New Hajj Policy 2024: Here Are All The Details

Pakistani pilgrims gearing up for the sacred journey of Haj have received heartening news, as the Caretaker Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Dr. Aneeq Ahmed, declared a noteworthy reduction in government expenses for this spiritual undertaking. In a bid to offer uncompromised facilities without burdening pilgrims financially, the government has slashed Haj expenses by Rs0.1 million.

Suitcases and National Flag Scarfs

The announcement brings a ray of hope for pilgrims, as they will now be provided with added amenities and support during their pilgrimage. One of the standout provisions is the allocation of a 30kg suitcase for each pilgrim, ensuring they can carry necessary belongings without worry. Notably, female pilgrims will receive special scarfs (abaya) adorned with the national flag, a unique gesture aimed at promoting national identity and pride among the pilgrims, marking the first-time inclusion of such a provision.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Haji Camp Karachi, Dr. Ahmed shed light on the introduction of a mobile application designed to assist and guide pilgrims throughout their journey. This innovative app will provide navigation aid and ensure constant communication between pilgrims and relevant officials. Initially available in English and Urdu, the app will later include various regional languages, catering to a wider audience and facilitating ease of access for all pilgrims.

Karachi and Islamabad in Road to Makkah

Furthermore, efforts have been made to streamline the Haj process. Karachi and Islamabad have been integrated into Saudi Arabia’s Road to Makkah project, allowing the Karachi airport to handle immigration procedures for pilgrims. This strategic inclusion aims to expedite and simplify the journey for Pakistani pilgrims.

Dr. Ahmed emphasized the government’s endeavor to make Haj financially accessible for citizens by introducing a 20-day short Haj package. Additionally, plans are underway to accommodate Pakistani pilgrims in tents at Old Mina, addressing challenges posed by the distance to New Mina.

Financial Accessibility

With a commitment to pilgrim welfare, Dr. Ahmed assured oversight of private Haj operators, who will manage half of the secured 179,000 Haj seats. The Ministry of Religious Affairs will monitor these operators, holding them accountable for ensuring pilgrim safety and comfort throughout their journey.

As the government continues renovation work at the Haji Camp Karachi, Dr. Ahmed reiterated their dedication to enhancing pilgrimage facilities. However, it’s crucial to note that the announced package excludes qurbani (sacrifice) expenses during the Haj.

Additionally, intending pilgrims opting for a shorter stay in Medina will benefit from a further reduction of Rs 35,000 in Haj expenses. These measures underscore the government’s commitment to facilitating a spiritually enriching Haj experience while alleviating financial burdens for Pakistani pilgrims.

New Instagram Feature Lets You Download Reels Now

instagram feature and new rollout

Instagram is one of the most expansive social media applications of all time. In fact, a lot of people prefer using it instead of Facebook due to the content it offers. It can be much better to show a pictorial or a video representation of something rather than just updating one’s own status. Even the Instagram application itself is more user friendly and accommodating than most of the other social media apps.

One of the best things about this application is how it caters to the content each user views. Its recommendation system is quite superior to other apps, as it can capture exactly the type of content you watch. If you watch a few videos or pictures on automobiles, the recommendation system is going to be catered to give you similar videos and pictures.

You might often come across reels on Instagram that you wish you could keep with you always. You wish you could view them offline again and again or share them with friends. According to the new update, you can now download reels to your camera roll.

Yes, if the reel you are viewing belongs to a public account, it can be downloaded and saved to your camera roll. Once it is saved in your camera roll, it is going to contain the watermark of the handle of the creator, to make sure there is no theft of content. This sounds like quite an interesting feature that must be explored.

Technology Keeps Moving

Of course, one must keep the security aspect of this feature in mind. If a public account of a person below 18 is active, its option to download will be turned off. However, it can be turned on the privacy settings. Similarly, if an account changes its status from public to private, all its future reels will not be available for download.

We hope that you are able to test this feature on your application as soon as you update it. We are seeing more and more updates on these applications everyday and would love to see more.

Toyota Vs Mitsubishi – Passo Or Mirage?

Passo and other cars

There are quite a lot of options in Pakistan when it comes to buying a hatchback. The reason for that is the preference of many people to go for Hatchbacks in Karachi. Due to the traffic situation here, it is better to have a car that can easily snake its way through traffic and have a nice fuel average alongside. That said, there are many companies out to produce newer hatchbacks each year. Toyota and Mitsubishi are two companies who have certainly released their fair share of vehicles.

While the latter may not be as known in Pakistan, the former is a household name. The Toyota Corolla is a car that has been in families for generations. There are people present who just want to buy a Corolla, and are always waiting for a newer model! Now, if a buyer had a choice between Toyota Passo and Mitsubishi Mirage, which one would they rather go for?

Performance and Comfort

When it comes to performance, the Toyota Passo is known to take the cake often. Be it the first generation or the third one, the Passo radiates the essence of performance. It might not have as high a fuel average in the city as the Mitsubishi Mirage, but it gives an immense amount of performance on any kind of distance.

You could load it with 5 people and the speedometer would still touch 120 km/h without breaking a sweat. It provides more comfort and has a plethora of features. On the other hand, while the Mitsubishi Mirage certainly gives a higher fuel average, it compromises on performance. There have been known issues of the vehicles in terms of transmission and safety, in the past.

passo and the toyota cars with good engine

Spare Parts and Resale

These are two of the most important factors to consider when buying a car today. The Toyota Passo has quite a wide market for spare parts. Eventhough it is also an import, it has been present in Pakistan for quite a long time, with each generation having its fair share. Thus, there is no lack of availability and the car has a decent resale due to being a hatchback.

In contrast, while the Mirage is also an import, it has entered Pakistan only recently. Due to this, it has a low resale, on account of people not wanting to buy it. This is because of the lack of spare parts and expensive maintenance. People with this car who have made repairs needed, have had to wait months just for a single part to arrive from abroad.

mirage and against toyota cars

The Verdict

While the fuel average of the Mirage is much higher than that of the Passo, that is not the only factor to be kept in mind. It is also important to note that spare parts and performance also have a major hand in purchasing a car. You don’t want to buy a car and get stuck with it either because its not selling or there’s no parts to repair it with.

Another Pakistani Cricketer Set To Tie Knot Before Australia Series

The year 2023 can easily be termed as the year of weddings in Pakistan cricket, with key players from the national squad tying the knot in the year with two more to come before the new year.

Left-handed batsman Imam-ul-Haq is all set for his upcoming wedding in November. Meanwhile, the celebrations are also in full swing for another Pakistani cricketer Faheem Ashraf.

Faheem recently celebrated his Mehndi ceremony in his hometown of Phool Nagar, located in Punjab’s district of Kasur. The event saw the presence of Faheem’s close friends and family members.

Reportedly, the pace bowling allrounder is scheduled to tie the knot on the same date as Imam, which is Saturday (November 25). Their valima ceremonies are planned for November 26, each in different locations.

Faheem’s wedding will take place in Narowal, while the valima reception will be held in his hometown, Phool Nagar.

The cricketer had announced his engagement earlier this year, a detail disclosed by his close friend and Islamabad United teammate, Hassan Ali, in August.

Faheem Ashraf has represented Pakistan in 16 Tests, 34 ODIs, and 48 T20Is. He made his debut in T20Is and ODIs back in 2017, while his Test debut followed in 2018.

Both Imam-ul-Haq and Faheem Ashraf are set to participate in the upcoming Test series against Australia. They are expected to join the squad in Lahore on November 30, just before their departure.

However, they have been granted permission to skip the entire training camp for the series due to their wedding festivities.

This year has witnessed several other Pakistani cricket stars, including Pakistan T20 skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi, pacer Haris Rauf, spinner Shadab Khan, and Test skipper Shan Masood, entering into wedlock.

PCB Defends Press Release About Babar And Inzamam

Aalia Rasheed, the Director of Media at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), addressed concerns raised during the ICC World Cup 2023 after the PCB released a press release regarding Babar Azam and Inzamam-ul-Haq’s role in team selection.

The aforementioned press release came out amidst criticism following Pakistan’s unexpected loss to Afghanistan.

In a released statement, the board extended support to Captain Babar Azam and Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq, emphasizing that triumphs and setbacks are inherent in the game. The press release also underscored the duo’s autonomy in composing the squad for the ICC World Cup 2023, echoing sentiments expressed by former cricketers.

Aalia Rasheed clarified the PCB’s position, emphasizing that the board never placed blame on Babar Azam for the team’s losses.

“Let me be clear, the PCB never criticized Babar Azam or the team during the World Cup. There was no attempt to hold Azam accountable for the losses,” Aalia Rasheed clarified in a conversation with a local media outlet. “While Babar is a respected player and possesses an independent nature, it’s crucial to consider recommendations from other selection committee members for a balanced decision-making process.”

Regarding the selection process, Rasheed pointed out that the press release accurately stated that both Inzamam and Azam had chosen the team. “He [Babar Azam] wasn’t willing to compromise on any player, and the board backed his decisions,” Rasheed clarified, affirming the truth in that statement.

Responding to queries about the potential removal of Azam from the team, Rasheed dismissed such suggestions firmly. “Babar is an outstanding player, an all-time great. History has shown that greatness as a player doesn’t always translate into captaincy prowess. Look at legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli,” she added, highlighting instances where top players faced challenges as captains.

Khaqan Shahnawaz On Making More Money With Content Creation

Pakistani actor Khaqan Shahnawaz has taken a dig at content creators in a recent interview where he delved into the intricacies of content creation and industry norms.

Speaking with Fuchsia, the College Gate star was counting his blessings and his privileges in the industry, which prompted a discussion on the distinction between actors and television stars, and ultimately, how significant education is for social media stars.

“An educated content creator will always make more money and better content,” Khaqan said as he clarified that this doesn’t necessarily refer to formal school syllabuses, emphasising the value of self-driven education through reading books.

While acknowledging that degrees are not the sole indicator of education, he recognised the significance of institutions in shaping upbringing and socialisation.

The actor also spoke of fair opportunities, where he mentioned the privileges that got him successful in the acting industry.

“I have the best gift of all—a genetic gift that I look this way. Who will deny that being conventionally good looking won’t help? He highlighted the global advantages of being conventionally good-looking, tall, broad, and possessing green eyes, attributing a portion of his success to his physical attributes.

In acknowledging the industry’s preference for stars over actors, Shahnawaz said, “They cast stars as leads, not actors.” While acknowledging that some stars excel in acting and vice versa, he highlighted the importance of a holistic package for success in the industry.

“There will always be actors who perform better than me, but what gets me work is my social media following and my pretty face and I can speak and be the way I am, and I have got charisma and maybe they don’t,” Khaqan went on.

While doubling down on good looks, He iterated how ‘what you say’ can have an impact on your success, offering more perspective on the kind of content being created today.

“My work will always be underestimated for my opinions, not my looks. People who have a preconceived notion of who I am as a person will underestimate me as a person and will say Khaqan is here because of how he looks. And it’s not because of how I look, it’s because of who they think I am as a person, if anyone hates me, they will hate me for my opinions, not for the way I look.”

“Some Pakistani Players Can’t Digest My Success”, Says Mohammed Shami

pakistan-players-cant-digest-my-success-says-mohammed-shami

Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has pushed back against conspiracy theories regarding ball changes that circulated among former Pakistan cricketers during the ICC World Cup 2023.

Shami, the highest wicket-taker in the tournament, claimed 24 wickets in seven games with a remarkable average of 10.70.

He missed out on earlier games, however, he remained a mainstay of the Indian Playing XI after Hardik Pandya was injured during the match against Bangladesh.

Shami returned with two five-wicket hauls in the first three matches at the ICC World Cup 2023.

Amid India’s clash with Sri Lanka at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, where Shami dismantled Sri Lanka with figures of 5-18 from five overs, former Pakistani cricketer Hasan Raza voiced suspicions of ball changing on a Pakistan news channel.

He suggested that the balls provided to India might differ; potentially aiding them in generating more swing and seam.

“Here I feel like the ball is getting changed mid-innings the way it is behaving. Whether it is the ICC that is providing the balls, or the umpires panel, or the BCCI, there should be an inspection on it. I think the balls should be checked,” Raza said.

Reacting to these comments, Mohammed Shami expressed dismay in an interview after the World Cup. He defended his performance, stating, “I wasn’t playing [initially]. When I played, I took a five-for, then a four-for in the next game, then another five-for. Now what can I do if a few Pakistan players can’t digest this fact?” said Shami.

“Because in their minds, they think they are the best. Best are those who perform at the right time. Those who work hard, perform, and stand up for the team, they are the best according to me.”

Shami criticized the controversies surrounding alleged ball disparities, urging critics to refrain from baseless accusations like “You have been given a different coloured ball,” or “ICC has given you separate balls.”

Addressing the discourse, cricketing legend Wasim Akram also debunked the theories, condemning the shame brought onto Pakistan by such allegations.

Shami praised Wasim Akram and highlighted his clarification, pointing out that despite explanations on ball selection, the comments persisted.

“The same thing was explained in an interview by Wasim [Akram] bhai. How balls arrive in a box, how they are chosen, which team chooses first. Even then!” said Shami.

“This would be understandable if you’re not a player who has played at this level. But you’re an ex-player. If you talk like this, I don’t think people will have anything else to say other than laughing at you. I accept that I might be a bit harsh, but I have to speak out for such things.”

He acknowledged being direct but stressed the importance of speaking out against baseless assertions.
