Pace bowler Haris Rauf has been under the fire recently after Wahab Riaz threw him under the bus over his unavailability for the Test tour of Australia.

Newly appointed Chief Selector Wahab Riaz revealed an 18-man squad for Pakistan’s upcoming Test tour to Australia during a press conference held on November 20.

The announcement, however, came with criticism directed at Haris Rauf for his reluctance to play in the longer format.

Reports suggest that, Haris Rauf, feels distressed and bothered by the unjust criticisms he has been facing recently.

Sources close to the pacer disclosed that Rauf is in Karachi for the National T20 Championship but is striving to ensure his mental, physical, and form readiness before resuming Test cricket.

“Haris is upset with the unwarranted criticism during the World Cup campaign. Critics who lack insights are questioning his form and consistency in picking wickets,” shared a close family source.

Rauf believes that he needs mental and physical preparedness to navigate the demands of Test cricket, requiring heightened alertness throughout the five-day game.

The insider highlighted Rauf’s focus on the shorter format to bolster readiness for Tests and other international commitments.

Haris Rauf made his international debut in January 2020, featuring in a T20I match against Bangladesh in Lahore. Despite this, his First-Class appearances amount to just nine matches. His solitary Test appearance was against England in December 2022, where he bowled 13 overs before exiting the field due to a fitness concern.

Wahab Riaz mentioned that Haris Rauf initially agreed to play against Australia but later declined, a claim countered by ESPN Cricinfo, stating that the pacer never assented to the longer format due to concerns about his fitness level.
