There are quite a lot of options in Pakistan when it comes to buying a hatchback. The reason for that is the preference of many people to go for Hatchbacks in Karachi. Due to the traffic situation here, it is better to have a car that can easily snake its way through traffic and have a nice fuel average alongside. That said, there are many companies out to produce newer hatchbacks each year. Toyota and Mitsubishi are two companies who have certainly released their fair share of vehicles.

While the latter may not be as known in Pakistan, the former is a household name. The Toyota Corolla is a car that has been in families for generations. There are people present who just want to buy a Corolla, and are always waiting for a newer model! Now, if a buyer had a choice between Toyota Passo and Mitsubishi Mirage, which one would they rather go for?

Performance and Comfort

When it comes to performance, the Toyota Passo is known to take the cake often. Be it the first generation or the third one, the Passo radiates the essence of performance. It might not have as high a fuel average in the city as the Mitsubishi Mirage, but it gives an immense amount of performance on any kind of distance.

You could load it with 5 people and the speedometer would still touch 120 km/h without breaking a sweat. It provides more comfort and has a plethora of features. On the other hand, while the Mitsubishi Mirage certainly gives a higher fuel average, it compromises on performance. There have been known issues of the vehicles in terms of transmission and safety, in the past.

Spare Parts and Resale

These are two of the most important factors to consider when buying a car today. The Toyota Passo has quite a wide market for spare parts. Eventhough it is also an import, it has been present in Pakistan for quite a long time, with each generation having its fair share. Thus, there is no lack of availability and the car has a decent resale due to being a hatchback.

In contrast, while the Mirage is also an import, it has entered Pakistan only recently. Due to this, it has a low resale, on account of people not wanting to buy it. This is because of the lack of spare parts and expensive maintenance. People with this car who have made repairs needed, have had to wait months just for a single part to arrive from abroad.

The Verdict

While the fuel average of the Mirage is much higher than that of the Passo, that is not the only factor to be kept in mind. It is also important to note that spare parts and performance also have a major hand in purchasing a car. You don’t want to buy a car and get stuck with it either because its not selling or there’s no parts to repair it with.

Through catchy songs and heartfelt speeches, Lennnie is promoting the idea of embracing individual uniqueness and advising young individuals against comparing their lives to the carefully selected highlights of others.

The initiative was conceived by Dove to address the anxiety social media triggers in young users. Highlighting that over half of kids express feeling anxious due to social media, the campaign aims to counter these concerns and foster a more positive online environment.

The campaign’s strategy and messaging were developed by Razorfish. Meanwhile, dove partnered with Edelman for community management.

“We also know social media can be a force for good,” said Kathryn Fernandez, senior director of purpose and engagement at Dove North America, via email. “We saw an opportunity to boost the self-esteem of young people through content creation with Lennnie. A source of positivity and feel-good content that can help uplift, spread joy, and boost self-esteem. Especially as we enter into the holiday season.”

“In a time when our social media feeds are filled with divisive content, Lennnie’s message of positive self-talk and mental health advocacy cuts through and reaches straight into our hearts in ways that few humans can,” said John Antoniello, SVP and executive creative director at Razorfish. Adding that “Dove may continue to use virtual influencers as generative AI creates and alters the human form to adjust to meet standards of beauty.”

Dove initiated the Self-Esteem Project in 2004 in collaboration with the University of West England’s Centre for Appearance Research. This project aims to support young people in developing positive feelings about their appearance.

Another Pakistani Cricketer Set To Tie Knot Before Australia Series

The year 2023 can easily be termed as the year of weddings in Pakistan cricket, with key players from the national squad tying the knot in the year with two more to come before the new year.

Left-handed batsman Imam-ul-Haq is all set for his upcoming wedding in November. Meanwhile, the celebrations are also in full swing for another Pakistani cricketer Faheem Ashraf.

Faheem recently celebrated his Mehndi ceremony in his hometown of Phool Nagar, located in Punjab’s district of Kasur. The event saw the presence of Faheem’s close friends and family members.

Reportedly, the pace bowling allrounder is scheduled to tie the knot on the same date as Imam, which is Saturday (November 25). Their valima ceremonies are planned for November 26, each in different locations.

Faheem’s wedding will take place in Narowal, while the valima reception will be held in his hometown, Phool Nagar.

The cricketer had announced his engagement earlier this year, a detail disclosed by his close friend and Islamabad United teammate, Hassan Ali, in August.

Faheem Ashraf has represented Pakistan in 16 Tests, 34 ODIs, and 48 T20Is. He made his debut in T20Is and ODIs back in 2017, while his Test debut followed in 2018.

Both Imam-ul-Haq and Faheem Ashraf are set to participate in the upcoming Test series against Australia. They are expected to join the squad in Lahore on November 30, just before their departure.

However, they have been granted permission to skip the entire training camp for the series due to their wedding festivities.

This year has witnessed several other Pakistani cricket stars, including Pakistan T20 skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi, pacer Haris Rauf, spinner Shadab Khan, and Test skipper Shan Masood, entering into wedlock.

In acknowledging the industry’s preference for stars over actors, Shahnawaz said, “They cast stars as leads, not actors.” While acknowledging that some stars excel in acting and vice versa, he highlighted the importance of a holistic package for success in the industry.

“There will always be actors who perform better than me, but what gets me work is my social media following and my pretty face and I can speak and be the way I am, and I have got charisma and maybe they don’t,” Khaqan went on.

While doubling down on good looks, He iterated how ‘what you say’ can have an impact on your success, offering more perspective on the kind of content being created today.

“My work will always be underestimated for my opinions, not my looks. People who have a preconceived notion of who I am as a person will underestimate me as a person and will say Khaqan is here because of how he looks. “Some Pakistani Players Can’t Digest My Success”, Says Mohammed Shami

Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has pushed back against conspiracy theories regarding ball changes that circulated among former Pakistan cricketers during the ICC World Cup 2023.

Shami, the highest wicket-taker in the tournament, claimed 24 wickets in seven games with a remarkable average of 10.70.

He missed out on earlier games, however, he remained a mainstay of the Indian Playing XI after Hardik Pandya was injured during the match against Bangladesh.

Shami returned with two five-wicket hauls in the first three matches at the ICC World Cup 2023.

Amid India’s clash with Sri Lanka at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, where Shami dismantled Sri Lanka with figures of 5-18 from five overs, former Pakistani cricketer Hasan Raza voiced suspicions of ball changing on a Pakistan news channel.

He suggested that the balls provided to India might differ; potentially aiding them in generating more swing and seam.

“Here I feel like the ball is getting changed mid-innings the way it is behaving. Whether it is the ICC that is providing the balls, or the umpires panel, or the BCCI, there should be an inspection on it. I think the balls should be checked,” Raza said.

Reacting to these comments, Mohammed Shami expressed dismay in an interview after the World Cup. He defended his performance, stating, “I wasn’t playing [initially]. When I played, I took a five-for, then a four-for in the next game, then another five-for. Now what can I do if a few Pakistan players can’t digest this fact?” said Shami.

“Because in their minds, they think they are the best. Best are those who perform at the right time. Those who work hard, perform, and stand up for the team, they are the best according to me.”

Shami criticized the controversies surrounding alleged ball disparities, urging critics to refrain from baseless accusations like “You have been given a different coloured ball,” or “ICC has given you separate balls.”

Addressing the discourse, cricketing legend Wasim Akram also debunked the theories, condemning the shame brought onto Pakistan by such allegations.

Shami praised Wasim Akram and highlighted his clarification, pointing out that despite explanations on ball selection, the comments persisted.

“The same thing was explained in an interview by Wasim [Akram] bhai. How balls arrive in a box, how they are chosen, which team chooses first. Even then!” said Shami.

“This would be understandable if you’re not a player who has played at this level. But you’re an ex-player. If you talk like this, I don’t think people will have anything else to say other than laughing at you. I accept that I might be a bit harsh, but I have to speak out for such things.”

He acknowledged being direct but stressed the importance of speaking out against baseless assertions.

Charger Ratings

When it comes to charging, the unit of measure that is kept the most in perspective is the voltage of the charger and the input of the laptop. In most instances, the input voltage and the charger rated voltage is 12V. This is 12V DC and is applicable on most laptops. Imagine that a laptop charger is rated at 12V 60 watts, and that is the charger you usually charge with.

If you lose the charger somewhere and the only option available is a charger with a higher wattage, maybe 100 watt or 150 watt, then should you use it? The myth states that you cannot but we are here to tell you that you can. In fact, a laptop will charge faster with a higher wattage charger since the charger has a higher capacity. If the voltage is different on the second charger, however, you should not use it on the laptop. That can definitely damage the laptop or its battery.

This groundbreaking update, presently available for iOS users, was revealed by WABetaInfo and is not yet officially announced by Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp. The new feature allows iPhone owners to log in by inputting their email address, subsequently receiving a six-digit code to gain access to their accounts. This method serves as a backup, notably helpful when users find themselves without cellular service and unable to receive the typical text message code.

It’s important to note that this email-based login method is solely intended as a backup. Creating a new WhatsApp account will still require a phone number, while logging in with a phone number remains an available option. Moreover, for privacy concerns, emails used for login purposes will not be visible to others, ensuring added security for users.

To access this feature, iPhone users must update their WhatsApp to version 23.24.70 and navigate to the Settings tab, where the email login option will be available under the Account section. As of now, it remains uncertain if this update will extend to Android devices.

Confirmation of Downtime

Business Insider independently verified the bot’s downtime by engaging ChatGPT in various queries, only to receive error responses redirecting users to the help center at help.openai.com for assistance.

Notably, outages are not uncommon for the AI chatbot, often occurring during the implementation of new features. In a peculiar turn of events, OpenAI had announced a version of ChatGPT that would respond to voice commands around 3 p.m. ET, preceding the outage.

OpenAI’s Internal Challenges

Lahore – November 21, 2023: Ayla Majid elected deputy president of ACCA. A woman from Pakistan has been elected deputy president of the world’s leading professional accountancy body.

Ayla Majid, who is based in Islamabad, is now the second-highest ranked officer at ACCA, (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), which has more than three-quarters-of-a-million members and students in 191 countries.

Majid said: ‘I couldn’t be prouder. ‘I will do all in my power to carry on the aim of opening more and more doors to chances in life to more and more people everywhere.

‘It is also very satisfying to take on this role as a Pakistani woman. It shows that women from emerging and developing world are ready to contribute and seize opportunities, not only at the national level but also on the global stage. Role of women in key governance positions is also extremely important for diversity and strength of organizations – something which truly global organizations have acknowledged and embraced.’

Majid was first elected to ACCA’s global governing Council in 2014. She has 22 years of experience in transaction advisory, mergers & acquisitions, and project development across energy and infrastructure. She has 14 years of board leadership experience including chairing boards as an independent director on boards in energy, pharmaceutical and not-for-profit sectors.

Majid has been a member of the Global Future Council of Energy Transition of the World Economic Forum and a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum.

She is now CEO of Planetive, which she founded in 2020, a consulting and project development practice which promotes sustainable finance, decarbonization and energy transition, with organizations across the world, with particular focus in the Middle East and Pakistan.
