7 Things All Girls Can Relate To On Bakra Eid

Online qurbani

I might have generalized here because I relate to a specific list of things revolving around Eid-ul-Adha. Not every girl would fit the description, I accept. But, the stereotype is such that choti eid is for girls and bakra eid or bari eid is for boys. And a number of girls fit this criterion. They feel a bit, not at home, with this eid.

So what are those few things that you can expect from, well, most girls? Or what is it that girls can relate to regarding Bakra eid?

1. Scared of Bakras

On bakra eid, you get to see every sort of animal on the streets; from cow to camel, goat to sheep, sometimes even an alpaca.

The excited and frustrated animals start jumping around, and running here and there. I, for one, get scared of not only the animals but of their sudden movements too. Because of this, just like me, most other girls avoid even going out for fear of encountering animals.

2. Hating the smell in the air

When the number of animals exponentially increases around you, their smells merge, and a collective smell emerges. The air gets enriched with it. Most girls, including me, are not fond of it.

3. Not watching the Qurbani

Some want to present a fragile self, some are just scared of blood, and some just hate the organs coming out of the Qurbani animal. So they avoid coming out for the Qurbani duration altogether.

3b.  Loving the kaleji though

Because kaleji is love, especially the one made by mom.

4. Not touching Qurbani meat

What’s more is that when the meat arrives inside the house, and the mothers are dividing it, they would completely avoid the kitchen. In fact, when it is cooked, they would avoid eating it as well. The most common excuse is, it smells. I know this because I have used it.

5. Finding fridge full of meat and no chocolate

Something that you would relate to as a girl is, strolling to the kitchen even a week after the Qurbani and finding it full of meat. No chocolate, no lychee drink, just some meat and some raan occupying the entire space.

6. Making faces at stained roads

Usually, in our country, there are no specified places for qurbani. So people do it right in front of their house. They even throw the hides on roadsides. The smelly and blood-stained roads look really ugly and unappealing. And all we can do is make faces.

7. Complaining about not getting Bakra Eid(i)

While we should be normalizing giving eidi on both eids, it is not the case in majority of households. And so we are left with complaining about being broke and not getting eidi on bari eid.

Are there some other things that as a girl that you can relate to? Let us know in the comments below.

5 Things Parents Should NOT Do For Their Children

Parents must not do
Image Soure: Reading Rockets

There are plenty of lists talking about what parents should be doing all the time. Have you ever read a list that tells you what NOT to do? This is it!

1. Don’t Speak For Them

It’s something we all have seen or experienced. Often starts with those happy moments when a small kid is asked, “Oh, what is your name?” and the parents respond, “It’s Ali.”

However, this habit must end once the child learns to speak. Otherwise, they lose confidence and always expect a parent to speak.

2. Don’t Be Too Close of A Friend

Today, many parents try to go for the “I’m your friend” perspective so that their kids never feel alone at home.  They also never want their kids to have secrets. However, being too close to a friend can often do more bad than good. A parent must always be a bit above than a friend, someone to respect mostly.

things parents should not do

However, parents have a different role: they care about us and love us. There is no need to try to be very close friends. Let kids look for their own friends among people their own age.

3. Don’t Count Their Money

Counting a child’s money can really tamper with the trust they have in you. If they ever get Eidi or pocket money or birthday money, give it to them. Or better yet, gain their confidence and tell them that you will be keeping it safe for them.

Don’t count their money in front of them; it leaves your child distrusting you!

4. Don’t Give In To Want, Only The Needs

When kids are young, they can be very fussy about “wanting” things. Things that can unhealthy, expensive, and overall, bad for them and their homes. At this stage, it is important to set the distinction between what they “Want” and what they “need.”

4. Don’t Help Too Much

2- and 3-year-old children can already put on and take off different clothes by themselves, wash cups, and put dirty clothes in the washing machine. More than that, at this age, children really want to do it by themselves.

things parents should not do

Most parents coddle their children too much to the extent that they never let them get into the habit of doing things themselves. “He can’t do it!” is heard a lot, especially in desi households. However, this is a toxic habit that parents need to let go of.

Noor Zafar’s Internet Doppelganger Becomes Viral Sensation

Seems like doppelgängers do exist, because we’ve found Noor Zafars’. If you didn’t know, Noor Zafar is an actress who appeared in romantic and thriller Urdu television series. Noor Zafar is currently making headlines after netizens spotted her look-alike in one of Kashee’s bridal campaigns. Although the brand Kashee’s is new to the market, it has already established itself quite well. Kashee’s deals with almost everything a bride would need, all under one roof. The bridal brand sells bridal clothes, wigs, jewelry and even deals with hair and makeup.

Kashee’s released a new bridal campaign, featuring a stunning model. Wearing a yellow bridal, designed by Kashee’s, she’s shown getting dressed up. Netizens were quick to pick up on the fact that she looked exactly like Noor Zafar, the actress. Since then both the campaign and the actress have gone viral. And currently, the internet can’t help but keep comparing the two.

Noor Zafars’ Doppelganger, A Kashee’s Model

Unfortunately, netizens have shared their opinions on the two. As always, no one could help but begin to compare the two.

noor zafar compared

The comments rolled in, and it is appalling to see so many say such harsh things about the women. This news had nothing to do with who is better looking and who is not. Yet, they’ve made it about that. The comments have then, repeatedly, stated that the model from Kashees, is just so much more beautiful when it wasn’t even asked?

Now labeling one prettier may not be as harmful as it may seem, but it can be detrimental to their self-worth and societal progress. Each woman has her own set of unique skills, talent, and beauty, and should be celebrated accordingly. Instead, they are set up to pull each other down.

Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Reema Khan’s Pictures Touching Holy Kaaba Makes Fans Furious

Prominent Pakistani actress and beloved television host Reema Khan has been caught in an internet storm. Reema Khan is facing severe backlash after sharing photographs of herself touching the holy Kaaba. The hostess went to fulfill the spiritual journey of Hajj and after sharing pictures of a highly important moment, fans were angry. It seems to many that this was just a show-off stunt and Reema isn’t quite genuine with what she is saying.

Reema Khan Shares Touching Spiritual Moment on Instagram

The actress shared a touching caption with her photograph too:

Reema Khan shared how profound this experience was for her as a Muslim. She shared the importance of performing Hajj for a Muslim and shared what it was like for her.  However, the reactions she received were disputed. Many disapproved of her photographs, calling them to be disrespectful to the journey. They called the entire act of posting photos shallow and selfish. To hundreds, Reema’s photographs had a sense of show-off.

On the other hand, many were quick to Reema’s defense. Later, they understood that as an internet personality, she just wanted to share this beautiful moment with her fans. In fact, many congratulated her and prayed that her Hajj was accepted, and she was rewarded for it accordingly.

Have a look at the comments:

Reema Khan commentsThe comment section under the photographs is full of statements that call her a “drama” and her spirituality “fake”. Moreover, fans picked on how her arms were bare in the photo and began to point it out one after the other. Also, the fact that she just had someone there to take her photos of her also upset many.

Reema Khan’s experience reminds us of the fine line between sharing personal moments and respecting religious sentiments. Public figures need to be mindful of their diverse audiences.

Why India Will Top Group A Even If They Finish Second?

t20-world-cup-india-top-group-a-if-they-finish-second-indian-cricket-overhaul-no-more-free-rides-for-underperformers

India has secured their spot in the Super 8 of the T20 World Cup 2024 after a thrilling win against the USA on June 12. But guess what?

The standings in Group A are still up in the air. Regardless of whether Rohit Sharma’s boys finish first or second, they will still be considered the top team of the group. Confused? Let’s break it down.

How the Seedings Work

The International Cricket Council (ICC) grouped teams into four groups of five for Round 1 based on their rankings. These seedings will stay the same for the Super 8, ensuring the schedule remains mostly unchanged even if a team performs poorly.

Super 8 Group Structure

The Super Eight stage will feature two groups, each consisting of four teams. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals. Here’s the setup:

  • Group One: The top team from Group A (A1), the top team from Group C (C1), the second-placed team from Group B (B2), and the second-placed team from Group D (D2).
  • Group Two: The top team from Group B (B1), the top team from Group D (D1), the second-placed team from Group A (A2), and the second-placed team from Group C (C2).

Why India Stays on Top

In previous editions, teams’ positions in the first round determined their opponents in the second round. This year, however, the ICC has already set the fixtures for the Super Eight stage, regardless of the first round’s outcomes. For example, even if Pakistan finishes as the top team in Group A and India finishes second, India will still go through as A1 and Pakistan as A2.

Well, realistically Pakistan cannot top the group but the USA can. How?

Pakistan currently have two points while India have six, with both have one more game to go. If Pakistan wins their last match against Ireland, they will remain second with fewer points than India. However, if the USA wins their next game and India loses theirs, the USA could top the group. However, as mentioned, India will still remain A1.

Potential Super Eight Lineup

If West Indies and Afghanistan advance from Group C, with West Indies topping the table, they will not necessarily finish as C1. If a higher-seeded team exits early, the replacement team adopts their schedule in the Super Eight. Consequently, Afghanistan would replace New Zealand as C1. Other groups could see similar scenarios.

As of June 13, the Super Eight groups are likely to be:

  • Group One: India, Australia, Afghanistan (replacing New Zealand), and Bangladesh.
  • Group Two: USA (potentially over Pakistan and Ireland), Scotland or England, West Indies, and South Africa.

In the first four editions of the T20 World Cup (2007, 2009, 2010, and 2012), the ICC determined the seedings for the Super Eight groups prior to the tournament. This precedent continues in 2024, maintaining the planned schedule.

The Super Eight will start on June 19, with the semi-finals scheduled for June 27, just two days before the final. It’s going to be an exciting run, so buckle up!

New Anti-Smartphone Aims To Reduce Screen Time

Source: Hypea

In an era dominated by constant connectivity and digital distractions, an American company has introduced a novel solution: the Light Phone 3, an “anti-smartphone” designed to help users reclaim their time from the clutches of excessive smartphone use. Set for release in January 2025, this device aims to provide a minimalist alternative to the feature-rich smartphones that many find overwhelming.

A “Dumb Phone” for a Digital Detox

The company behind the Light Phone 3 has taken a bold step by creating a device they refer to as a “dumb phone.” Unlike traditional smartphones, the Light Phone 3 focuses on essential functionalities, allowing users to make calls and send SMS messages. However, it deliberately omits features such as apps, social media, email, and an internet browser. This pared-down approach encourages users to engage more with their physical surroundings and less with their screens.

Source: Hypei

One notable upgrade in the Light Phone 3 is the switch from the previous E Ink displays to a new OLED screen. This change enhances the device’s visual appeal while maintaining its commitment to simplicity. Additionally, the Light Phone 3 introduces front and back cameras, complete with a shutter button, evoking the feel of an old-fashioned camera rather than a modern smartphone. This feature is intended to offer users a nostalgic experience, harking back to a time when cameras were used solely for capturing moments rather than as multifaceted digital tools.

Practical Modern Features

The device also includes several practical features to meet modern needs. These include a USB-C port for charging, a flashlight, a fingerprint sensor for security, and 5G support to ensure reliable connectivity. Despite its minimalist ethos, the Light Phone 3 doesn’t compromise on essential functionality, making it a viable option for those seeking a balance between digital minimalism and practical utility.

The development of the Light Phone 3 reflects a growing awareness of the negative impacts of excessive smartphone use on mental health and well-being. By offering a device that strips away the superfluous elements of modern smartphones, the company hopes to help users cultivate a healthier relationship with technology. The Light Phone 3 encourages a return to basics, promoting meaningful interactions and mindfulness in an increasingly distracted world.

As the Light Phone 3 prepares for its January 2025 launch, it stands as a testament to the possibility of technological innovation that prioritizes user well-being over endless connectivity.

iOS 18: New Alerts for Slow iPhone Chargers

Source: Macrumors

Apple is set to introduce several noteworthy updates to iPhone battery health and charging settings with the release of iOS 18, providing users with more control and awareness over their charging habits. Among these changes are new options for setting charging limits and a feature that alerts users when they are using a slow charger.

Enhanced Charging Limits

With iOS 18, iPhone 15 users will have greater flexibility in managing their device’s battery life. Previously, Apple allowed users to set an 80% charge limit to help preserve battery health. This feature has now been expanded to include more granular options, enabling users to set their charge limits at 85%, 90%, or 95%. These additional options are designed to give users more control over how much their battery charges, potentially extending the overall lifespan of the battery by reducing the wear associated with charging to 100%.

Source: Reddit

Slow Charger Alerts

Another significant addition to iOS 18 is a new feature that notifies users if they are charging their iPhone with a slow charger. Within the Settings app, under the “Battery” menu, users will find a Battery Level graph. If the device detects that it is being charged with a slow charger, a warning message will appear on the graph. This new alert is visually indicated by an orange color on the graph, making it easy for users to recognize when their device is not charging optimally.

While the exact charging speed that triggers the “Slow Charger” message has not been specified, this feature aims to enhance user awareness about their charging practices. It encourages users to use faster, more efficient chargers, which can improve charging times and potentially benefit battery health in the long run.

Anticipated Support Documentation

As with many of its updates, Apple is expected to release a detailed support document when iOS 18 becomes publicly available this fall. This document will likely provide more comprehensive information about these new battery and charging features, including the specific thresholds for what constitutes a slow charger.

These updates reflect Apple’s ongoing commitment to improving user experience and device longevity. By offering more detailed charging options and insights, iOS 18 empowers users to make informed decisions about how they charge their iPhones, ultimately promoting better battery health and device performance.

Imam-ul-Haq Defends Babar Azam’s Performance In T20 World Cup

imam-ul-haq-defends-babar-azam

Pakistan captain Babar Azam is currently facing criticism for his performance in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, however, his close friend and teammate, Imam-ul-Haq, has come forward to defend him.

During a recent appearance on a local TV show, Imam-ul-Haq addressed the negative comments from veteran cricketer Ahmed Shehzad, who labeled Babar’s performance as “unimpressive.” Imam emphasized the importance of maintaining respect when discussing the team’s performance.

“He’s your captain. You don’t want to consider him as a captain, it’s fine. The world has made him the king, you haven’t,” Imam stated.

imam-ul-haq-defends-babar-azam

Imam highlighted Babar’s significant contributions to the team, reminding everyone that he has played 250 international matches. He argued that Babar’s recent performance should not overshadow his overall statistics and contributions to Pakistan cricket.

“Is there anyone who has been number one in Pakistan’s ODI rankings as well as in T20Is?” Imam asked, underscoring Babar’s achievements.

Imam also shared his views on Ahmed Shehzad’s harsh comments, where Shehzad compared his own statistics with Babar’s, calling him a “fake king” and criticizing his performance in powerplays during T20 World Cups.

imam-ul-haq-defends-babar-azam

“You [Babar] have faced 205 balls in powerplays in T20 World Cups, but you haven’t managed to hit one six!” Shehzad pointed out, further accusing Babar of damaging the domestic cricket structure to favor his friends.

In response, Imam maintained that Babar Azam remains unfazed by the criticism and is focused on his game. He urged fellow athletes to maintain respect regardless of their positions in the team.

“We are here to talk about cricket. I’m not interested in discussing Babar only; there are more things to discuss,” Imam concluded, calling for a respectful dialogue about the team and its performance.

Former Captains Blast ICC For Hosting T20 World Cup Games In Florida

rashid-latif-azhar-ali-blast-icc-t20-world-cup-in-florida

Former Pakistan captains Rashid Latif and Azhar Ali have voiced their frustration over the rain threat in the ongoing T20 World Cup matches in Florida. The forecast predicts heavy rain in Florida, putting Pakistan’s crucial matches at risk, prompting calls for the ICC to take immediate action.

Rashid Latif’s Outburst On Social Media

Latif took to his X account (formerly Twitter) to express his disappointment with the ICC’s scheduling decisions. He questioned the wisdom of holding matches in Florida during the rainy season.

“After eight matches in New York where playing surfaces ruled the roost (Canada’s 137-7 was the highest total and India’s 111-3 was the highest run-chase), brace for three more washouts in Lauderhill, Florida. Not a good advert for T20 World Cup for which teams train and practice for years!” Latif wrote.

He continued, “How can the T20 World Cup organizers ignore rain trends in Lauderhill during this period and schedule matches from June 14-16?”

rashid-latif-azhar-ali-blast-icc-t20-world-cup-in-florida

Azhar Ali Urges ICC to Shift Matches

Echoing Latif’s concerns, Azhar Ali has urged the ICC to consider moving the matches out of Florida due to severe flood warnings.

“Viewing the circumstances in Florida, it is looking like the matches won’t take place. ICC must take action, knowing many matches will get affected and shift to another venue,” Azhar said on a local news channel.

Azhar pointed out that the ICC is already facing criticism for the subpar pitches at New York’s Nassau County International Cricket Stadium and emphasized the need for quick action.

rashid-latif-azhar-ali-blast-icc-t20-world-cup-in-florida

“ICC need to take quick action and I am sure logistically, it would not be difficult. There will be questions on ICC if no matches take place in Florida. Already, there are questions on the pitch standards in New York,” he added.

Pakistan’s final group match against Ireland is scheduled for Sunday, June 16, at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Lauderhill. The matches between Ireland and the USA on June 14, and Canada and India on June 15, are also set to be played there and are likely to be affected by rain. These games are crucial for Pakistan’s chances of advancing to the Super 8 stage.

For Pakistan to qualify, they need Ireland to defeat the USA and Canada to lose against India. Then, Pakistan must win their match against Ireland by a significant margin. If the rain continues, it could wash out these crucial matches, dashing Pakistan’s hopes of advancing.

HONOR Challenges Samsung’s Dominance With New Flip Phone!

HONOR, the leading smartphone manufacturer in China, has released the HONOR Magic V Flip! This smartphone serves as the country’s first flip-foldable phone. HONOR, which has been making waves since splitting out from Huawei in 2020, directly challenges Samsung’s dominance in the foldable phone industry. Let’s have a closer look on all we know about the newly released smartphone.

A New Challenger Arrives In The Form Of HONOR!

Magic V Flip HONOR
Honor was the biggest smartphone player in China by market share in early 2024, with a significant lead over its competitors. The brand attributes its success to its focus on innovation and customer needs, as well as its ability to offer high-quality devices at competitive prices.

With its 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display, massive 4,800mAh battery, and potent Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU, the Honor Magic V is a state-of-the-art piece of technology. The phone’s folding, flip design pays homage to vintage flip phones while incorporating modern characteristics. The smartphone has a strong, elegant design and a hinge that can survive reported up-to 200,000 folds!

The Honor Magic V also boasts an impressive camera system, with a 50MP primary sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 3D depth sensor. Not only this, but the phone’s AI capabilities are also top-notch (although no official testing has taken place). With a built-in AI chip that enables advanced features such as AI-powered portrait mode and AI-assisted low-light photography.

When Was It Released? And Why Don’t We Know About It?

HONOR Flip Smartphone

Well, that’s where things get a little tricky. There is currently no information on the Honor Magic V’s availability outside of China. For the time being, it will only be released in the Chinese market. With a basic model pricing of CNY 5,000 Yuan which makes it costs an eye-watering Rs. 192,000! Which in a way does make sense, since direct competitors and similar options are available for around the same price. The price, like the phone might be China exclusive as well, who knows!?

With the release of the Honor Magic V, Honor has achieved a major milestone and challenged Samsung’s dominance in the foldable phone industry specially in China. The Honor Magic V looks to be an amazing handset with its cutting-edge design, powerful AI features, and excellent photography skills. It will be fascinating to watch how Honor performs in the upcoming months as the brand continues to gain momentum in the smartphone industry and it becomes available globally.

The average salaried person is expected to bear a heavy burden as a result of the government’s introduction of new taxes and increases to current ones. The poor and middle classes, who already have difficulty making ends meet, would be disproportionately impacted by the increase in taxes on necessities like food, medication, and power.

The budget has also resulted in higher costs for necessities like food, petrol, and energy. People have been left speechless as a result of having to pay more for the same products and services. Not only this, but inflation brought on by the price increases would further reduce peoples’ purchasing power.

Public Reaction: Outrage & Disgust

Many have taken to social media to express their views, with the hashtag #Budget2024-2025 trending on X (formerly Twitter). “PFL, together with the support of the government will be ensuring that supreme playing facilities are provided to the emerging and richly talented players in Pakistan from all cities, and are extremely optimistic and hopeful that this talented youth of the country will represent Pakistan on the international stage”, added Junejo.

New Car Purchases To Get Costlier With Proposed WHT Hike

Source: business Insider

The government has released the budget for the fiscal year 2024-25, introducing several changes aimed at increasing revenue. One significant proposal is a hike in the Withholding Tax (WHT) on new cars. This move is part of a broader strategy to revamp the taxation framework for the automotive sector.

New Registration Charges Based on Invoice Price

A notable change in the budget is the method of calculating new car registration charges. Previously, these charges were determined by the engine size of the vehicle. However, under the new budget, registration charges will be based on the invoice price of the car, applicable to vehicles up to 2,000cc. This shift is expected to standardize registration fees and link them more closely to the market value of vehicles.

To illustrate the impact of this change, consider the Suzuki WagonR. Previously, the registration charge for a Suzuki WagonR, priced at 3.8 million PKR, was 20,000 PKR. Under the new system, this charge will increase to 38,000 PKR. This adjustment reflects a broader effort to align registration fees with vehicle values, potentially increasing the cost of registration for more expensive models.

Removal of Concessions for Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs)

The budget also removes the 50% concession on customs duty for Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs). Previously, HEV owners benefited from a reduced duty rate, paying only 50% of the standard customs duty. With the new budget, HEV owners will now pay the full 100% customs duty, eliminating the previous exemption.

For instance, under the old policy, the duty on a 1,500cc HEV, which amounted to 1 million PKR (30% of the car’s value), was reduced by 50%, resulting in a lower effective rate. Now, HEV owners will pay the full amount, significantly increasing the cost of importing these vehicles.

Impact and Reactions

The proposed changes have elicited mixed reactions. Proponents argue that the increase in WHT and the new registration fee structure will enhance tax compliance and generate much-needed revenue for the government. However, critics contend that these measures may increase the overall cost of vehicle ownership, potentially dampening demand in the local automotive market.

The removal of concessions on HEVs, in particular, has raised concerns about the future of environmentally friendly vehicles in the country. By making HEVs more expensive, the government risks slowing the adoption of greener technologies, which could have long-term implications for environmental policy.

As the government moves forward with these proposed changes, it will be crucial to monitor their impact on the automotive market and overall tax revenues. The Budget 2024-25 represents a significant shift in automotive taxation, with potential ripple effects across the economy.

Here’s Why “Bado Badi” Was Removed From YouTube

bado badi

Chahat Fateh Ali is a comedian and social media personality who catches headlines every now and then. Recently he’s gone viral after releasing his new song, called Bado Badi. Bado Badi garnered an immense amount of views, as it went viral shortly after its release. Lately, Chahat Fateh Ali is being accused of exploiting a model in the video, by paying her less and spreading misinformation about her. After the song hit millions upon millions of views, the video was unexpectedly taken down.

Chahat Fateh Ali On Why Bado Badi Was Removed

Heres a link to the interview:

The singer appeared on Ary News, Har Lamha Purjosh via a video call. In the show, the host Waseem Badami questioned Chahat Fateh Ali about why the video was removed. The question seemed to have startled the singer, who replied with the entire story of the copyright claim he is currently facing.

The singer stated, “When I released this song on YouTube, after 10 days, I revived a letter stating that a company has claimed the copyright of this song. I also wrote a letter back to them and replied that the song and composition belonged to me. Don’t unfairly do this to me as I have been running a channel for the last eleven years and now Alhamdulillah, my channel is also doing great, they have just removed this particular song. I have gotten a lot of subscribers after my song Bado Badi went viral. Now, they have sent me another letter that Bado Badi was sung by legendary Noor Jehan. And they have claimed the copyrights so we are deleting it. I don’t know why they are making such claims, because my composition is different from Madam Noor Jahan’s song”.

Furthermore, even the grandson of the musician requested credits, shocking Chahat even more. Clearly after seeing the song be so successful everyone wants a slice. Though the composition and idea of Bado Badi was entirely Chahat Fateh Ali’s, anyone and everyone is claiming a part in it.
