NADRA Issues CNIC to Chinese Citizen & Pakistanis are Losing it!

Remember the time NADRA changed your birthdate? Or the time when they accidentally spelt your name wrong making you think they should change their name to Starbucks? Well, jokes apart, this time, NADRA has issued an official CNIC too a Chinese man!

A picture of a CNIC belonging to Feng Lin Cui has been going viral. According to his CNIC, the country of stay is in China, Mainland. Here’s what Pakistanis are saying;

Social Media Reactions

So, now the real question is…. was the CNIC issued because he is a Pakistani by birth, and just got a Smartcard made, or, is it because of CPEC. Well, it makes more sense to come to a conclusion that CPEC is probably the right answer.

The project has open doors for thousands of individuals across the border to come and explore hundreds of opportunities Pakistan has to offer. In a report by ET,

“A lot of industries are already saturated in China,” said Zhang, who has worked in property, electrical appliances and household goods in China and says he wants to explore the potential for setting up factories or importing Chinese goods. “Pakistan’s development is behind China, so it will hold better opportunities compared to home.”

But the new arrivals face dangers, creating a headache for Pakistani security officials.  We are yet to see what happens and how many more Chinese individuals will be getting their own CNICs as CPEC starts nearing its completion.

Careem & Uber Fares Likely to Increase in Punjab!

Ever since ride-hailing services like Careem and Uber have been introduced in Pakistan, the convenience of travelling has improved overall.

However, if you are a daily user of either app and live in Punjab, then there might be a bad news in store for you.

The government of Punjab might increase the fares of both hailing services as per their new policy.

According to the policy, the owners will have to get all vehicles commercially registered for which they will have to pay a heftier amount, encouraging them to increase their rates.

According to Tribune, Punjab Information and Technology Board and the transport and excise departments formulated the new policy and the provincial government has approved it.

Earlier, the services were suspended because the vehicles were not registered in Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad. Punjab board declared the services “illegal”, asking the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) to block the apps.

Lizard Found in Nimco Packet from Leading Supermarket

Pakistanis and their love for food has no bounds. Be it breakfast, lunch, dinner or tea time, we’ve got a special dish for each meal. However, the substandard quality of food in the country has everyone on the lookout for any red flags related to food items, be it in a restaurant, a supermarket or the nearby grocer.

The growing substandard food in the country has led to various eateries and superstores getting raided for the unhygienic items available. In Punjab, the Punjab Food Authority has taken control over the province’s food safety and regulations.

However, this time around it is a superstore in Karachi that has landed itself in trouble. The huge chain, Imtiaz Superstore is in hot water after a buyer posted a video on Facebook which shows a ‘Fried Lizard’ inside a ‘Nimco’ packet that was bought at the store.

The person who uploaded the video has made sure to add proof to the story including receipts of the nimco packets bought from Imtiaz.

It is a shock to see such poor quality coming from Imtiaz as it is one of the most visited stores in Karachi, where masses come to shop for their monthly ration! The public is devastated by this news as not only is this utterly disgusting but highly unsafe for human consumption.

Watch the video of the Nimco containing a ‘Fried Lizard’ here:

What are your thoughts on the story? Do you have anything to add? Le

This ward is part of Seeing is Believing Phase 5 project. Under this project, the Bank will be investing $1million USD across 3 districts (Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi) within five years, to treat men and women who are known diabetics, for Sight-Threatening Diabetic Retinopathy (STDR).

Momina Mustehsan is no less than a role model for the women of Pakistan! Her journey to stardom has been quite difficult. The haseena’s instant rise to fame came out as a shocker for the songstress who wasn’t expecting so much of a sudden limelight!

Within days, her personal life became the talk of the town and trolls were ready to attack her. But now the starlet is stronger than ever before. And this was quite apparent in her recent interview with Fifi Haroon for BBC Urdu.

Just recently, the 25-year old talented singer Momina Mustehsan made it to BBC’s Top 100 Women list and was giving major motivational messages in her interview.

However, Fifi could not resist asking her about Danyal Zafar.

And now Momina finally has spilled the beans about the reality of her relationship with Danyal.

Happy birthday @mominamustehsan! Wish you all the success!

A post shared by Danyal Zafar (@danyalzee) on

During her candid heart-to-heart with Fifi, the songstress laughed it off that she is involved with the rising musician.

“Why cant a girl & guy be just friends?”

However, she admitted that she finds Danyal Zafar pretty charming and good-looking but she is not easily smitten by men. Stating that she knows Zafar since two years, Mustehsan revealed that there is absolutely nothing cooking between them.

She added:

“I am happy by myself”

And she even made it clear that she is not involved with anybody else either by quoting Faiz Ahmed Faiz:

“Zindagi Mein Buhat Ghum Hai Muhabbat Kay Siva”

What is more, she made a point that the interview was not about their relationship and gave the message:

Let’s not define a woman’s ID by a man

However, that was not the only empowering note that the darling communicated to the viewers.

Momina talked about how women in Pakistan need to rise for themselves and for the nation to prosper and grow.

She also added that Pakistan belongs to every minority residing in our homeland and they all are a part of us.

But the highlight of her interview remains the thought-provoking message that we should all think about.

We admire her even more now, don’t you?

Shehzad Roy Appointed as National Goodwill Ambassador for United Nations

Shehzad Roy

Pakistani singer and social activist, Shehzad Roy, has been designated as an official National Goodwill Ambassador for United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

Yury Fedotov, UNODC Executive Director, congratulated and appreciated the veteran singer and social worker by saying;

“Throughout his career as a singer, social worker and a humanitarian, Mr. Roy has shown an unwavering commitment to tackling illicit drugs.”

He added:

“His position as one of Pakistan’s most famous singers, his enduring popularity with young people, and his energy and undoubted talent, will help UNODC publicize the dangers of drug abuse.”

All honoured, Shehzad expressed his gratitude by tweeting:

Shehzad Roy has previously received the Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2005, a civil honour, for his efforts in the public service sector. He was also honoured with the ‘Sitara-e-Eisaar’ in 2006 for his NGO’s work for the rehabilitation of the victims of the 2005 Kashmir earthquake.

The singer spoke on this occasion:

“I have been following UNODC’s work even before joining them as a Goodwill Ambassador. Their work is commendable in the fields of criminal justice, drug demand reduction and HIV/AIDS prevention. These things are close to my heart especially when children are concerned, and I will give my all to my new role as National Goodwill Ambassador for Pakistan.”

He has been appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador for 2 years. During his tenure, Shehzad will work on various UNODC goals including criminal justice and drug demand reduction.

Roy said:

“It is disheartening to see children imprisoned for petty crimes or drugs ruining the lives of young people. If I can help one child out of prison or convince just one boy or girl to turn away from drugs, I feel proud that I have made a difference.”

Many celebrities and social workers came forward to congratulate Shehzad Roy on this achievement.
