Pakistan Doesn’t Have a Lab to Test For Coronavirus

According to Tribune, Pakistan has no facilities or labs to test the deadly coronavirus. The outbreak was first reported in China and has spread as far as the United States as people travel back for work after the Lunar New Year.

Tribune reported, “Only the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention in the US and some laboratories in China and The Netherlands can confirm cases.”

Due to CPEC, the Chinese have been frequently flying from China to Pakistan and Pakistan to China. Pakistan holds a great risk of the virus growing in the region with no sources at hand.

People traveling from China to Pakistan are being screened at airports however, labs in the country can’t confirm the deadly virus.

The health representatives have come forward and approached the authorities in The Netherlands and also China to help confirm suspected cases entering the country.

As precautionary measures, Pakistan has insisted on delaying the opening of the cross point. Trade and travel activities between Pakistan and China take place through Khunjerb Pass.

There have been 2,700 confirmed cases in China while other cases have been emerging around the globe which indicates that the virus has been spreading quickly.

Gulf News reported that the first case of the deadly coronavirus has been confirmed in UAE.

Proton Saga To Get New 1299cc Engine In Pakistan

Al-Haj Automotive who is geared up to team up with Malaysian automaker Proton is currently in the process of introducing a range of vehicles in Pakistan.

According to sources, the company will commence its operations with the blastoff of 1.3 liter Saga sedan followed by the introduction of X70 SUV.

Furthermore, the Saga sedan for Pakistan will consist of a downsized engine precisely to secure tax benefits. Initially, the Proton Saga comes eligible with a 1332cc DOHC VVT engine that generates 94hp of power and 120Nm of torque, although, the ones particularly made for Pakistan will bring a 1299cc engine under the hood.

This is due to the tax structure of cars which are of 1300cc and more is different and remaining below 1300 would assist the company in maintaining costs will similarly help them to progress consumer interest due to a lower tax bracket.

Although the gearbox is sourced from Hyundai, the programming and testing are rumored to be done by Proton’s own engineering team. Bear in mind the pre-facelift models that were seen testing in our country earlier had a CVT.

Like Saga, the X70 SUV is also going to be tailored precisely to suit the Pakistani market. As mentioned earlier, the Proton X70 for Pakistani market will earn a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine rather than the originally deployed 1.8-liter turbo engine.

This proves that Proton is taking the Pakistani market pretty seriously and instead of simply initiating ready-made products, the firm is working on approximate to market dynamics and consumer inclinations and is customizing its product range to help vie against the existing rivalry.

ISPR also recently released a track titled, Kashmir Hum Mein which is sung by popular Pakistani vocalist Sahir Ali Bhagga, while the lyrics of the song are penned by Imran Raza.

Furthermore, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) on Monday released a new song to mark the first anniversary of the downing of Indian jets.

The song ‘Allah o Akbar’ has been sung by the singer Shuja Haider and honors the bravery of Sherdils, a PAF spokesperson said in a statement.

The PAF said that the song was a story of the Pakistani nation’s resolve.

The tradition of releasing songs that resonate with the occasion has now become a trend that the masses love about ISPR.

“Apple Won’t let Bad Guys use iPhones in Movies,” -‘Knives Out’ Director Rian Johnson

Wondering how to spot a bad guy in a movie? Well, we have a simple trick. The villain is the one without an iPhone!

According to Knives Out director Rian Johnson, Apple has said there will be no iPhones for bad guys.

“I don’t know if I should say this or not,” Johnson said in a Vanity Fair video posted Tuesday where he breaks down a scene from his hit murder mystery. “Not ’cause it’s lascivious or something. But because it’s gonna screw me on the next mystery movie that I write. But forget it, I’ll say it, it’s very interesting.”

“Apple, they let you use iPhones in movies, but, and this is very pivotal, if you’re ever watching a mystery movie, bad guys cannot have iPhones on camera,” he said. “Every single filmmaker who has a bad guy in their movie that’s supposed to be a secret wants to murder me right now.”

Whereas, it also makes sense why a tech-titan like Apple would not want bad guys to use its products and attract negativity. After all, no one wants their reputation to be trashed.

On the other hand, Apple did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment.

Reportedly, Johnson pointed out the Apple caveat while dissecting a tense scene between all of the Thrombey family members ahead of the reading of the late Harlan Thrombey’s will.

A cellphone then becomes a spoiler. During the scene, Jamie Lee Curtis’ character Linda Drysdale can be seen with an iPhone, prompting Johnson to reveal the behind-the-scenes secret.

When rewatching the film, you can see several other characters who are suspects carry or use iPhones. However, the ultimate bad guy in the film, Ransom, played by Chris Evans, does not have an iPhone in the film.

Iran Health Minister Cancels Friday Prayers Amid Coronavirus Threat

The chaotic situation of the world due to coronavirus has left everyone panicking. Although the health officials have asked the people not to panic but this fatal disease has created an alarming situation all across the globe. However, not only that but The World Health Organization has itself, declared this situation an international health emergency.

Speaking of which, on Thursday, Iran’s Health Ministry spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour has asked Iranian authorities to cancel the Friday prayer congregations in several cities of Iran due to the coronavirus threat until further notice.

Moreover, he also added that 15 labs will be opened within the next week to diagnose coronavirus infections.

Surgical Mask Prices Skyrocket As Two Confirmed Coronavirus Cases Surface In Pakistan

A petition has been documented in the Lahore High Court (LHC) over prices that shot up of surgical masks after the detection of two coronavirus cases in Pakistan.

Punjab government and other concerned divisions have been made respondents in the plea. The rates of surgical masks have boosted rapidly due to people storing up those masks, the plea reads and pleaded the court to take serious action against the elements pertained in the hoarding of the masks.

Amid coronavirus case, Pakistan running out of surgical masks and the cost has been surged by a thousand percent is something worrying.

There is a scarcity of surgical masks in the market. The box of surgical masks is being sold at Rs. 1000 in the market as the profiteers have become active to make good money out of the chance.

Two cases of novel coronavirus have been reported in Pakistan. The first case of COVID-19 emerged in Karachi from a citizen who flew back from Iran along with his family. And, the second sufferer had traveled through Lahore to enter into Islamabad, however, the test results of his family members were negative for the virus.

Furthermore, talking to Geo.tv, vendors at medical stores and chemists claimed that there has been a scarcity of surgical masks for the past one month.

Although surgical masks were delivered to China from around the world free of expense after the coronavirus outbreak, Pakistani traders, however, repurchased the masks already in supply at twice the price and shipped them to Beijing, they added.

The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), which is accountable for keeping rates in check has so far only issued one warning and a single advertisement in this concern.

The Pakistani health authorities on Wednesday confirmed two positive cases of Coronavirus in the country.

Both of the people tested positive for the lethal virus, one each in Karachi and Islamabad, who had traveled to Iran for a pilgrimage to holy sites and on their return to the country, they tested positive for the disease.

In view of the emergent situation, both Sindh and Balochistan governments have closed down all academic institutions.

The novel coronavirus has spread throughout the world since the first cases were detected in central China in December.

More than 2,800 people have died globally and over 82,000 have been infected, and the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the outbreak a public health emergency of international concern.

China’s National Health Commission has confirmed the virus, which causes a disease known as Covid-19, can be transmitted from person to person through “droplet transmission” – where a virus is passed on due to an infected person sneezing or coughing – as well as by direct contact.

A Supposed Audio Message Clip by Coronavirus Carrier Yahya Jaffri is Going Viral

A voice clip shared by PK News claims to be of Yahya Jaffri, the first confirmed Coronavirus case in Karachi and in Pakistan.

In the clip, Jaffri is heard saying that he has been infected, but it is in the initial stage and that there is nothing to worry about.

He further shared that the fatality rate worldwide is less than 1% and the majority of those who have passed due to the Coronavirus outbreak were mostly above the age of 60.

Because the immune system of younger individuals is stronger than those in the senior age, they tend to recover better and faster.

PEMRA Officials Detained & Threatened by Furious Anchor!

On 13th February, an anchor stormed inside Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA)’s Lahore office “shouting and directing his companions to seal the premises and close the doors of the office and that no one should be allowed to enter or exit.”

The anchor was accompanied by 3 police security guards deputed for his safety. Moreover, two other individuals in plainclothes who reportedly came in a Toyota Corolla with a green license plate.

He further shouted asking for CCTV cameras and instructed his men to confiscate them reportedly. As the anchor’s goons were taking hostages, Regional General Manager PEMRA Lahore came out of his room to request him to sit and discuss his grievance if there are any.

Furthermore, it was reported that the RGM was also taken as a hostage along with his two guests. The anchor then rang a call to a top PEMRA official in Islamabad. As the call was connected, the anchor turned on the speaker of his phone.

“Do you want to continue your job or not,” the anchor asked the top official. “Yes, I want to continue,” was the reply. Second question, “If I ask you to delegate me all of your powers, whether you will do that or not.” The answer, “I will do that.” Third question, “If I put your phone on hold for an hour, if you will wait for me or disconnect the call.” The answer, “I will wait.”

The top official wanted the anchor to forgive PEMRA and assured him that the action taken against him was just by mistake. The top official further promised that he will visit Lahore to personally apologize from the anchor. The conversation ended after this reassurance and Lahore Pemra RGM was a silent spectator during this course of the crisis.

As the matter was “resolved” after assurance of a top Pemra official, the anchor decided to celebrate it at Pemra’s Lahore office where he remained from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm as per the report. He ordered 10 pizzas and then the anchor apologized for any “inconvenience.”

He “tried to give the impression that he is very influential and he also got the support of all the named institutions,” RGM Ikram Barkat noted in a written report sent to Pemra chairman.

“He also told us that he has powers given by the Supreme Court of Pakistan to seal any premises and office and he has the seals available in his vehicles to do so…For reference, he quoted an incident where he sealed a hospital for three days. He also asked about the cell number of chairperson council of complaints.

He further said that it is in his hand to revalidate the appointment period of council members and he will see whether their tenure is to be revalidated or not,” read RGM’s report which is being treated as a top-secret.

“It is further informed that the said journalist/anchor called on his cell phone…During the conversation, he again talked a few mixed and ambiguous things and categorically asked him ‘Maza aya aaj (hope you enjoyed today).’…Some of the conversations of the event (both audio & video), recorded through mobile phones are also enclosed for ready reference…There are many things/conversations which he even cannot write in order to protect dignity and honor of the organization and higher posts; however, he can inform everything in person,” reads the report.

Millions Of Google Chrome Users Might Be At Risk After This Warning

Google Chrome’s harmonious revises have long been a huge fraction of its appeal. However, this may change. With the latest edition of Chrome already established on hundreds of millions of computers and smartphones around the globe, a substantial threat has been handed out that you might not appreciate what it was running inside.

According to a blog post, Google has verified three “High” level vulnerabilities within Chrome 80, one of which (CVE-2020-6418) is a zero-day exploit that “exists in the wild.” This makes sticking on the new edition of Chrome a sudden threat.

Neowin remarks that the zero-day exploit is a Type Confusion hack that exploits JavaScript and gradually causes omissions in the browser through which cyberpunks can run unrestrained code.

In reaction, Google has published Chrome 80.0.3987.122 with patches for all three exploits and users around the globe should be obtaining update warnings in their browsers presently.

Furthermore, if you haven’t, you can activate the update procedure manually by going to the three-dot menu in the top right corner of Chrome > Help > About Google Chrome.

This is Chrome’s third zero-day vulnerability in a year which is a relatively low number. Although, when they arrive, they need to be taken seriously.

So, if you are the type of person who generally dismisses Chrome’s nagging when updates come along, today is a day you really need to pay extreme attention.
