Facebook and Instagram are the latest to respond to the request as they will be joining other video streaming services such as Netflix and Youtube in downgrading streaming services by throttling bandwidth to help broadband systems cope with the increase in demand caused by anti-Coronavirus measures.
A website called Silicon confirms that Facebook will downgrade video streaming quality in Europe while Disney will be delaying its launch in France on request. Reportedly, Amazon Prime and Apple TV have also joined the clan.

The official statement from Netflix says, “Netflix has confirmed to date, though, by saying that “In the coming days, we will be monitoring Internet congestion and working closely with Internet service providers to further reduce bitrates as necessary to ensure they are not overwhelmed by consumer demand.”
“We are making a commitment to temporarily switch all traffic in the EU to standard definition by default,” says the Youtube’s official statement.
Thierry Breton, EU commissioner for Internal Market says the extra bandwidth is required for students and healthcare providers. These measures are taken to make sure the users do not overload the infrastructure during the pandemic.

We have all been advised to practice social distancing and wash our hands frequently for at least 20 seconds to protect ourselves and those around us. However, this is also the time to be actively helping those who are less fortunate!
Approximately 25% of our population lives under the poverty line. With a sizeable chunk of the working population comprising of ‘daily wage’ or ‘shadow workers’, who will soon be struggling to put a meal on their tables with economic activities slowing down. Christopher Nolan’s film, ‘Dark Knight’ was remarkable with Joker’s character becoming everyone’s favorite within no time. As dark, as the movie was, the supervillain has many meaningful quotes throughout the film.
One such quote has been making rounds on social media, given the circumstances. The world is fighting a deadly pandemic at the moment. 382,741 people have been affected by the virus across the globe, while 16,578 have lost their lives at the hands of COVID-19. (Source: Worldometers)
Toilet paper shortage from coronavirus panic buying results in fights at the superstores.
The current events caused by the corona-virus side by side with the jokers’ famous quote from the Dark Knight;
“You see, their morals, their code, it’s a bad joke. Dropped at the first sign of trouble (The deadly virus). They’re only as good as the world allows them to be. I’ll show you. When the chips are down(1000’s lost their lives during the pandemic), these… these civilized people(economically advanced countries), they’ll eat each other. See, I’m not a monster. I’m just ahead of the curve. – The Joker”
We have come across people hoarding food items in economically advanced countries.
These events taking place are very much like what the Joker’s character predicts.
“Don’t talk like one of them. You’re not! Even if you’d like to be. To them, You’re just a freak, like me. They need you right now, but when they don’t, they’ll cast you out, like a leper!
You’ll be surprised!

In these trying times, amid the coronavirus pandemic, Pakistanis couldn’t celebrate Pakistan Resolution Day, which is every year on the 23rd of March. This year, as the lockdown was announced in different cities of Pakistan, many Pakistan Day events, airshows and parades were canceled to avoid large gatherings in order to stop the spread of coronavirus.
So, what Pakistanis did was sing Pakistan’s national anthem in their balconies, rooftops and terrace to show their patriotism for Pakistan during this tough time. Many of our celebrities along with their families also went live to show their love for this beloved nation.
However, what really broke our hearts was singer Komal Rizvi’s live stream on Instagram where she was singing the national anthem. Komal Rizvi, while singing the national anthem, broke down into tears keeping in mind the current situation of the world, and mostly, Pakistan.
In the video, she mentioned that she went live earlier but couldn’t sing because she got emotional and teared up. So, this was her 2nd attempt.

On the other hand, IMC has also halted all productions until further notice. Also, it is important to mention that all other models that were under production will now take longer to be manufactured and delivered to respective customers.
Toyota has stated that there is nothing more important than the health and safety of its employees and customers hence it is vital customers understand the situation and show understanding.
Meanwhile, 35 dealerships across Pakistan will receive various Toyota Yaris test drive units. One of these units was spotted in Karachi.
The test drive unit that was spotted in Karachi was a 1.3L GLi model that comes without alloy wheels and rear chrome garnish.
When we thought things are finally getting better, it turns out, they’re not.
Earlier, China had reported that the last coronavirus patient has recovered and the country is free from the virus. A few days ago, China had claimed that no new local cases of Covid-19 have been reported which is indeed a major milestone for China.
However, things aren’t as they seem to be. One of China’s top coronavirus experts, Professor Li Lanjuan, 73, member of Beijing’s expert team on the virus said that she is very worried about the ‘imported’ cases in China that could again, trigger a large-scale epidemic in China.

The second coronavirus outbreak in China
In other words, Professor Lanjuan has sent out a warning that the country is facing a second outbreak due to the increasing number of infections detected among people arriving from abroad.
She came forward with her statement after health officials in China reported the country’s first case of someone who is believed to have contracted the disease, known as COVID-19, from another person returning from abroad.
She told People’s Daily in Wuhan that, “The mission in Wuhan has not been accomplished, and there are still many critical patients. Furthermore, I think the current situation in our country is very tough”.
She has also demanded officials to follow strict measures and identify those who were infected by the virus and have not been officially diagnosed. She further warned that they could start the epidemic once again.
Reported cases in China
According to Chinese health officials, no new local cases of the deadly virus have been reported. So far, the country has recorded 64 new cases of coronavirus which were spread by people returning from abroad.
Moreover, Wuhan is slowly returning to normal after a two-month lockdown.
We are really hoping for this pandemic to end soon so that people could go on with their routine life. What preventive measures are you taking? Let us know in the comments below.

Cambridge International has canceled all examinations to be held in Pakistan during May/June this year amidst the global coronavirus pandemic. In order to curb the spread of the virus, social distancing has been urged by health officials worldwide.

In the latest statement issued by the Cambridge International, they mention that schools can withdraw their candidates from the May/June 2020 exams and re-enter them for future exams in Oct/Nov.
The schools have been given time for making a decision until 10th April and notifying the British Council of their decision. The same policy stands for students all over the world. Cambridge International added that students and their safety remain their top priority and they will continue supporting their education during these challenging times.

The upcoming movie Zarrar by Shaan Shahid is one of the most promising and much-awaited projects of the Pakistani Film Industry and we’re quite eager to see what it brings to the table.
Ever since the movie was announced by well-known actor Shaan Shahid himself back in 2016, it created a lot of hype and fans were anxious to see what’s coming.
The 30-second teaser did not give away much about the plot but it does aware us on what to expect. We can the words “The color of sacrifice is red” quickly switch to “The color of sacrifice is green” followed by “We are in a state of war.”
However, it had been in the making for 4 long years, as it happens, Zarrar seems ready to be released now as Shaan himself tweeted about the dates of the official trailer of the movie.
After a lot of delays and speculations, finally Zarrar’s trailer has finally released!!
Have a look:
https://youtu.be/ra6JJTVn6q8
Taking about its budget and production values, it appears to be a good movie.
Shaan Shahid is not just a popular actor, but he’s also a renowned director. He has already proved that in several times in his directorial movies such as Musa Khan, Arth and more.
All we have to do now is wait and see if the movie is as good as we expect it to be. Starring Shaan Shahid, Nadeem Baig, Kiran Malik, Adnan Butt and others Zarrar looks like an entertainer.

The pandemic that has engulfed the world in chaos has infected over 350,000 people globally. During the coronavirus, it has been difficult for marketeers to get their brand across to consumers.
While some campaigns have been called out to be too insensitive, others have been deemed problematic for the ongoing situation, it is great to see the Pakistani brand, English Biscuit Manufacturers (EBM) breaking through from the clutter and making its mark impressively.
Source: EBM
The confectionery brand has recently announced that they would be moving off the airwaves in order to help and reach out to victims and those affected by COVID-19. The statement EBM has posted says:
“We’re here to nourish resilience”.
It indeed is the need of the hour, at a time when the country needs immense support from its local brands. This means you would not be seeing your favourite biscuits on your television screens for a while, since the brand is redirecting those budgets to help out Pakistan during its fight against COVID-19.
EBM mentions it will be heading into people’s lives, in the camps, clinics, isolation centres and wherever the community wants them to be.
The statement further reads:
“Whether we do that by distributing biscuits or by allocating rations, we’re doing our part to help ease the situation by redirecting and repurposing our advertising budget towards COVID-19 relief and response efforts.”
Here’s what they posted on social media networks!
The initiative by EBM has been met with great appreciation by the public for the efforts the brand is making by showing its social responsibility. The company has shown that they stand steadfast with Pakistan through this crisis and will work with the government to send relief wherever needed.
This is indeed a great initiative and hopefully other local brands will learn a lesson or two from EBM on fulfilling social responsibility to the society.
What do you think of EBM’s latest announcement? Let us know in the comments below.

If there’s one person who has the ability to land themselves in uncharted waters just by what saying things or doing some unknowingly, it’s none other than Hira Mani.
Just last week, Hira Mani made some inappropriate statements while roaming the US. She called Americans phatoos (cowards) for practicing self-isolation and she was slammed for that certain move.
The Meray Paas Tum Ho actress is under fire again for a particular post.
Hira took to Instagram to share the announcement that she has tested for COVID-19 and the results came back negative in typical Hira fashion – she shared a picture cuddling up to husband Salman Saqib, both of them wearing surgical masks. “Stay home and be safe,” she wrote.
While celebs like Shahzad Roy, Mahira Khan and Ahmed Ali Butt are vocal about staying indoors and staying safe – actors like Hira Mani are entirely negating the entire point of COVID 19.
With over 800 cases of the deadly virus in Pakistan, it’s high time our celebs speak up and spread hope amongst the masses.
What do you all think about Hira Mani’s latest post? Does this make any sense to you?
