Technology today is truly outstanding. Someone has created an alarm that can detect coronavirus in the room. Aside from being totally incredible, it’s also very expensive.

The New Creation

British scientists have shared that they have made a ceiling-mounted coronavirus “alarm”. This alarm has the ability to detect the virus in any room within 15 minutes.

This highly accurate piece of technology is slightly larger than a smoke alarm. However, the scientists note that it could be used for screening in aircraft cabins, classrooms, care homes and offices. If the price can be subsidised or brought down, people will definitely buy it for homes.

How Does It Work?

The Coronavirus alarm works by detecting chemicals known as “volatile organic compounds”. These are produced by the skin of infected people or are present in the breath of people infected with Covid-19. The alarm is made to pick these up.

Their odour is too subtle for the human nose but it can be detected nonetheless. For instance, dogs can detect this smell too. Hence, now an alarm has been created to detect the smell.

Success Rate

It has already been installed in some schools. Said teams at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and Durham University claim the device has an accuracy of 98%-100%.

If it truly is this successful, it would make this sensor as reliable as the PCR lab-based coronavirus tests widely used. If this alarm also works, this would be far quicker to single out infected patients than PCR tests being done across countries.

However, the researchers are stressing that these are early results. Their study has also been published in a paper but it has not yet been peer-reviewed and so, nothing can be said.

Another Version on The Horizon

The scientists behind this alarm are saying that the new machine which has been made by Cambridgeshire firm Roboscientific would be better. In other words, it can be more accurate and practical.

The million-dollar question is that if the alarm does detect coronavirus, how will it tell the person infected? The detectors will basically be able to find people with the virus even if they are asymptomatic. That is also why this alarm is more effective than PCR tests.

The alarms take 15-30 minutes to scan a large room and currently cost around £5,000 each.

A Lahore-based eatery issued a statement over the weekend about the injustice of police with the employees. Further, the restaurant officials released a statement. The quarrel was about not fulfilling the high profile individuals’ request to have free food from the food joint.

Workers Arrested

More than fifteen of the crew members from the kitchen were taken into custody after they refused to hand out free burgers to the officers. The workers held overnight at the station; however, after the constant struggle of the CEO and head of the restaurant operation, the employed one was released later in the morning.

This program refers to Ten Billion Tree Plantations. The program itself goes by ‘Ten Billion Tree Tsunami Plantation Project’. This is done by keeping the environmental issues in perspective.

According to the new law, each student will be asked to plant 20 saplings. The students can be from any institution. It is only helping the environment become healthier. Everyone will benefit from being a part of this program. Thus, students who plant 20 saplings will get 20 extra marks in their studies. This is sure to attract a giant crowd of willing students.

It is not only beneficial for students but the environment too. Pakistan direly needs the plantation of trees here. Despite many efforts, the climate change problem lingers above us. However, there is another way one can offend. It is if they understate the value of an issue that is quite dire and vital. In recent news, a Zara designer has just made some comments on Palestinian supporters.

We are all aware of the current situation of Palestine. The injustice that the Palestinians are going through, is quite high. They suffer through days and days of cut-off supplies. They live in constant fear of attacks and they are hoping to have their voice heard. We urge you to not stop posting about the situation on social media. The more the people know about this, the better. So what did this Zara designer do?

Zara Reputation Dunked

According to sources, a model was seen engaging in conversation on Instagram. It seems that the model had said how they hate Israel and consider it evil. In response, the head designer at Zara, Vanessa Perilman, had commented. The comment consisted of her saying how Palestinian supporters are violent and ignorant. She then proceeded to further add that the whole situation is not Israel’s fault.

This entire event caused quite a rift on the internet. The anger of the people is justified because the designer of Zara has made some very offensive remarks. The remarks are not just offensive but insensitive to the situation and the people of Palestine. Calling the supporters violent and ignorant undermines the entire Palestinian cause.

The Back Lash

After the comment had been done, an apology was allegedly asked for and given. When the entire issue was reported to Zara, they claimed something else. They said that the designer had not said anything from any official Zara account. Additionally, they stated that they have launched an investigation. However, Zara tried to brush off the entire situation. They have not once demanded anything from Vanessa. The public is thinking to boycott Zara and all its products.

Many are even calling out to remove the designer from the lead designation. It seems that Vanessa deleted her Instagram account after everything that unfolded. The comments are insensitive. We think they should not be made. This entire situation is going to have quite a lot of consequences for the brand itself. To associate oneself with such an insensitive event is not going to be appreciated.

According to Variety, the online store is all set to sell exclusive and limited editions of “carefully selected, high-quality apparel and lifestyle products”. These will be tied to Netflix’s shows and its brand on a regular basis. So think Netflix merch. We, for one, can not wait to get a big, cosy Netflix hoodie and a cup.

Debut Products

Coming extremely soon to the highly anticipated Netflix store will be exclusive merch based on ”The Witcher” and ”Stranger Things”. These shows are not only two original series but they’re also the series with huge, ardent fandoms. Moreover, the new Netflix logo-wear is also being designed by the Japanese fashion house BEAMS.

Living in Dubai and earning AED 4,000 a month allows a Pakistani to save only so much. They have to send a huge chunk of money back home, and the rest they need to invest in their own rent and food. Two Pakistanis working as deliverymen in Dubai were surprised to find more than 10 months of their monthly income as a bonus. The bonus made them millionaires!

An online food delivery company by the name of Deliveroo awarded two of its employees 50,000 dirhams for being top performers. The amount is equivalent to USD 14000 and more than 2 million in Pakistani rupees. Muhammad Khurram and Muhammad Zeeshan are the two Pakistanis who got the good news of becoming millionaires. Of course, knowing voice phishing scams to be real, the two Pakistani men, one from Karachi and the other from Lahore, did not believe it to be true initially.

Muhammad Khurram states that he got the call from the company in March. According to the company, the bonus was for having delivered more than 2,000 orders in the past five years. Muhammad Zeeshan got a similar call. The thirty-five-year-old Khurram said that he believed someone was playing a prank on him. Zeeshan had a similar response. In fact, Zeeshan says that he did not even tell anyone because he did not want to be laughed at.

Khurram made some calls and when sure, he let his family know. He got a confirmation email after that. Zeeshan on the other hand, kept it quiet up until he got the email confirmation. After that, he let his family in on the good news. Last month, in May, Khurram already received his first installment (8,333 dirhams), the rest he will get over the next 6 months. The deliveryman says that he plans on opening a cafe or a restaurant. Khurram also plans on starting a business back home.

Deliveroo – food delivery company

London-based company, Deliveroo operates in the UK, UAE, France, Kuwait, Ireland, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Singapore, Australia, Netherlands, and Hong Kong. They have also issued a statement regarding that.

CEO and founder Will Shu said, “Muhammad Zeeshan and Muhammad Khurram received their first payment in May 2021 and will continue to receive installments of approximately AED8,000 each month throughout the next six months.”

He adds:

“Over the last year, riders have helped us do so much more than just deliver great food, having supported businesses and enabled vulnerable people or those self-isolating to stay safe indoors throughout a global pandemic. We’re pleased to be able to say thank you.”

Bonus has been their way of acknowledging their employees. The prize money they have issued up till now ranges from $238 to $14,000 to $36,000. The prize has been awarded to the highest-performing employees globally.
