Pakistan’s TikTok community is breaking the stigma surrounding mental health, sharing impactful stories and valuable resources. The event, held on October 4, successfully raised funds and highlighted the importance of expanding access to mental health services and education for youth worldwide.
A global in-app survey revealed that 63% of Pakistani TikTok users find a sense of belonging on the platform, aligning with the global sentiment. Throughout October, TikTok invites its global community to participate in the #MentalHealthAwareness: “Better Together” campaign, sharing stories and well-being journeys.
Globally, related hashtags such as #MentalHealth, #SelfCare, and #MentalHealthAwareness have collectively garnered billions of views. In Pakistan, hashtags like #MentalHealth, #MentalHealthAwareness, and #DigitalHifazat have received 3.1+ billion, 1.9+ billion and 194+ million views, respectively, to date.

In collaboration with Ola Doc and Digital Rights Foundation, TikTok has curated helplines accessible year-round on its platform in Pakistan, which can be accessed at the new Mental Health Awareness hub, which serves as a digital wellness resource center. Moreover, TikTok is continuously working with creators and organizations like Zindagi Trust, Shifa International, House of Wellness, and others to create awareness of mental health, talking about ways to combat depression and remain safe online.
Dr. Yasir Masood Afaq, Clinical Psychologist and Founder of House of Wellness said, “TikTok is playing a pivotal role in raising awareness about mental health. TikTok’s massive outreach will go a long way to create an enabling mental health ecosystem.”
As a part of this initiative, DASTAK Women’s Rights and Awareness Foundation has found TikTok as a fresh and creative channel to raise awareness and educate users on pivotal mental health issues and sexual and gender-based violence, allowing to break societal stigma and address these interconnections in a more profound manner.
Hira Amjad, Executive Director of DASTAK Women Rights and Awareness Foundation, said, “TikTok has emerged as a powerful platform for promoting mental health awareness, with its commitment to fostering a supportive community. We look forward to nurturing this partnership for a sustainable and violence-free Pakistan.”
TikTok remains dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of its community on and off its platform. The company encourages everyone to learn more about and promote #MentalHealthAwareness for a collective journey towards better mental health.
Renowned fashion designer Hussain Rehar has found himself at the centre of a controversy after artist Alisha Yazdani accused the designer of appropriating her artwork for his clothing line “Jugnu.”
Yazdani took to social media to voice her grievances, expressing her disappointment in a place where “there is no concept of accountability and intellectual property rights.”
She claimed that her color palette (white on black) and illustrations were mirrored in Rehar’s recent clothing line launch, a move she found disheartening.
“Please share if you feel the same,” Yazdani wrote.
Yazdani further clarified that no collaboration had taken place between them, stating, “I never provided any of my work after negotiations fell through post meeting him. Months later I see a whole line replicating my work.”
Yazdani, who runs the online store Kook Studio, later added, “Edit: I never provided any of my work after negotiations fell through post meeting him. Months later I see a whole line replicating my work.”
Jugnu’s founder did not stay quiet over this and defended his creative process, asserting that the inspiration for “Jugnu” came from traditional African embroidery designs rather than any specific individual’s work.
Rehar acknowledged the use of a monochromatic palette but argued that such elements are commonly found in various art forms across cultures.
The atelier then shared a comparison between his work and Yazdani’s art with his followers and asked the followers to find the similarities and make their own judgments.
He did not deny that he initially reached out to the artist for a collaboration, but also clarified that “any interruption in commmunication with a particular artist occured due to a project postponement and not as a reflection of our intentions.”
He emphasised that his outreach to artists has always been driven by a genuine desire for collaboration and creative exchange.
“If our intention had been to appropriate someone’s work, we would not have initiated contact in the first place,” he added.
However, these allegations are not the only ones Rehar faces.
Another online store, Jugnu Candles, has accused him of plagiarising their brand name and image for his Jugnu clothing line.
The store claimed that they attempted to address the issue through Rehar’s representatives but received little attention.
According to Jugnu Candles, Rehar’s manager/representative insisted that they were “a very big brand” and refused to discuss the matter further.
Apple’s most recent product unveiling was marked by the introduction of USB Type-C across several devices, a notable inclusion being the AirPods Pro. Surprisingly, there was no mention of the AirPods 4 (or fourth-generation) during the event. While Apple has maintained a veil of secrecy around the AirPods 4, there are some interesting details making their rounds within the tech community. One thing we can say with reasonable certainty is that the AirPods 4 will come equipped with a USB Type-C port. But what other features and upgrades can we anticipate? Here’s what we have gathered so far.
Pricing Patterns
Since the inception of the AirPods in 2016, we’ve seen variations in launch prices. The first generation started at $159, followed by the second generation at $199, and the third generation at $179. Speculation suggests that Apple may continue to offer the AirPods 4 at a similar $179 price point. However, industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo hints at the possibility of a more affordable version aiming for a $99 price tag, though it may come with some trade-offs.
Source: Macrumors
Release Timing
Apple has followed a somewhat patterned release schedule for its AirPods, with the second generation in 2019 and the third in 2021. Based on this pattern, it’s reasonable to anticipate the AirPods 4 arriving between 2023 and 2024. However, given that we recently passed an Apple event, the latter timeframe seems more plausible. Tech reviewers predicts that mass shipments of the next-gen AirPods could start in the second half of 2024 or the first half of 2025.
Apple might take a page from its iPhone playbook when it comes to enhancing the AirPods 4’s specifications. The current AirPods Pro features the H2 chip, while the standard AirPods are equipped with the downgraded H1 chip. We could see an upgrade to H3 for the Pro and H2 for the standard AirPods. The H2 chip offers improved acoustics and Bluetooth 5.3, promising more reliable Bluetooth connectivity.
Battery Life Boost
An upgraded chip often translates to improved battery life. With the H2 chip, the AirPods Pro gained an additional 1 hour and 30 minutes of battery life with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) enabled. Therefore, the AirPods 4 could potentially deliver even more impressive battery performance.
Source: Times
While there’s been no official word on additional features, it’s possible that the AirPods 4 could borrow some capabilities from the premium models, such as on-device volume controls. Moreover, improvements to the MagSafe Charging Case are likely, as the inclusion of a USB Type-C port is confirmed.
Looking Ahead
Despite the limited rumors surrounding the AirPods 4, it’s promising to note that these earphones could see the light of day in the not-so-distant future, possibly next year. Apple’s recent event may not have brought an AirPods update, but indications are that the AirPods 4 won’t be a minor revision focused solely on the charging port. Anticipate longer battery life, enhanced audio quality, and various incremental improvements.
However, it’s essential to remember that all the information so far falls within the realm of speculation. Official statements from Apple remain elusive, so a degree of skepticism is warranted. IPO Success and Valuation
Source: Reuters
In its initial public offering (IPO), Gamer Pakistan raised an impressive $6.8 million by selling 1.7 million shares priced at $4 each. This IPO resulted in a valuation of $102.4 million for the company, with 25.6 million shares outstanding. The company now trades on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol “GPAK.”
GPAK’s stock had a promising start, trading above its IPO price in the early hours. However, this initial enthusiasm was short-lived, and the stock’s trajectory took an unexpected turn.
WestPark Capital Inc., a New York-based investment bank specializing in emerging growth companies, played a pivotal role as the lead underwriter for the IPO. The company’s co-managers, including Alexander Capital LP, Spartan Capital Securities LLC, and RH Lafferty & Co. Inc., contributed to the successful listing.
The Vision of Gamer Pakistan Inc.
Source: MarketWatch
Gamer Pakistan Inc. defines itself as a development-stage interactive esports event promotion and product marketing company, with its roots tracing back to November 2021. The company’s inspiration for this venture came from an unlikely source – a football game between Pakistani and Indian college students held in 2012.
This football match, set against the backdrop of historical tensions, served as a catalyst for Gamer Pakistan’s founders. The game showcased the power of sports to bring rival nations together in friendly competition and camaraderie.
Esports in Pakistan: A Logical Choice
Esports emerged as a logical choice for launching college sports programs in Pakistan. The country recognized esports as a legitimate sport, appealing to its youthful population. With approximately 65% of Pakistan’s 231 million residents under the age of 30, the country is a hotspot for gamers. Moreover, Asia leads the world in esports, representing 46% of the global gaming community.
From Colleges to the World
Gamer Pakistan’s initial focus revolves around creating esports events for college and university teams, catering to both men’s and women’s divisions. However, the company envisions a broader expansion, reaching international markets and even venturing into live sports.
The long-term ambition of Gamer Pakistan is to establish a series of events where Pakistani college all-stars can compete against teams from countries like India, the U.S., China, and South Korea. With the rise of esports’ global popularity, this vision appears increasingly attainable.
Monetizing Through Franchises and Partnerships
Gamer Pakistan aims to create 10 to 20 team franchises in Pakistan, generating revenue through franchise fees. Additionally, the company intends to explore opportunities in name, image, and likeness (NIL) rights, merchandising, and broadcasting partnerships.
While currently pre-revenue and without profits, Gamer Pakistan is gearing up to modernize Pakistan’s advertising ecosystem and tap into the growing market for university sporting apparel and goods. Challenges lie ahead, but with its innovative approach and a burgeoning esports scene, the company is poised for an exciting future on the global stage.

Khalil Ur Rehman, a prominent writer known for his unapologetic views on gender boundaries, stirs another debate with his comments on women’s rights and co-education.
In a recent interview with Saqib Momin, Rehman doubled down on his controversial stance, proudly asserting, “the greater the supply of low-value women, the more it benefits men.”
During the interview, a fan admired him for his work but also urged him to participate in the Aurat March—an annual event advocating for women’s rights in Pakistan. Surprisingly, the writer didn’t hesitate to accept the invitation, but he posed a condition: “If you kick out some people, I will join the Aurat March.”
Rehman revealed that he has previously shown support for the peace walk for women’s rights, even offering the organizers to craft slogans that would draw attention to the critical issues women face.
This unexpected statement has added complexity to Rehman’s public image, as he grapples with the paradox between his views and actions.
However, Rehman’s interview wasn’t solely about women’s rights. He also voiced his opposition to co-education. When the host questioned him about why he doesn’t incorporate this perspective into his own dramas, Rehman found himself on the spot.
He replied by saying that he can only work with the content provided to him, indicating that the industry norms play a significant role in shaping the narratives he writes.

PepsiCo has introduced a limited-edition flavor called Doritos Coriander, expanding their range of the well-known corn chip brand. However, there is a catch.
Doritos Coriander Flavor
Doritos has introduced a novel Coriander flavor, anticipated to ignite discussion and disagreement throughout Australia. Marketed as “exquisitely aromatic and luxuriously soapy,” and “unapologetically daring experience with one of the most divisive ingredients ever.”
Doritos is challenging Australians to assess the new chip and settle the “age-old” argument once and for all: Does coriander truly have a soapy taste?
The polarizing snack can’t be bought. However, enthusiasts have a chance to acquire one of the 350 chip packets through the brand’s Instagram giveaway. By sharing their sincere thoughts on the herb, participants can enter. Every day until 5 p.m. on October 17, 25 fortunate individuals who either love or loathe coriander will be selected.
“We’re excited to see the reaction of chip lovers from across the country as they try our super-limited-edition Doritos Coriander,” said Vandita Pandey, chief marketing officer at Pepsico.
“With the taste of coriander being one of Australia’s most divisive flavours we want to boldly launch the flavour in chip form and see if coriander does taste like soap. Some people love coriander, others hate it. It’s Australia’s most polarising flavor, with many avoiding it entirely due to its soap-like taste – so we thought we’d put taste buds to the ultimate test by combining it with Doritos’ iconic tasty corn chips.” She added.

His caption on a recent post, which reads, “In a state of confusion, I wonder why things aren’t okay,” has only added to the intrigue surrounding their marriage.
Fans and followers have been dissecting his words, searching for hidden meanings in this enigmatic message.

In the world of consumerism, brands constantly strive to innovate and capture the hearts of customers with new and exciting products. However, not all endeavors are met with success, and some products become infamous for all the wrong reasons. In this article, we’ll explore some of the worst products ever introduced by well-known brands, ranging from technological missteps to marketing disasters.
1. New Coke (Coca-Cola, 1985)
Perhaps one of the most famous product flops in history, New Coke was introduced by Coca-Cola in 1985. The company decided to reformulate its iconic soda to keep up with changing consumer tastes. However, the backlash from loyal fans was swift and fierce. Within just a few months, Coca-Cola was forced to revert to its original formula, now marketed as “Coca-Cola Classic.” New Coke serves as a cautionary tale about the importance of understanding the emotional attachment consumers have to a brand’s heritage.

2. Microsoft Windows Vista (Microsoft, 2007)
Microsoft Windows Vista was supposed to be a leap forward in terms of operating systems, but it ended up being a major stumble. It was plagued with compatibility issues, hardware demands that were too high for many computers at the time, and a user interface that was widely criticized. Windows Vista’s problems were so severe that many businesses and individuals chose to stick with its predecessor, Windows XP, for years after its release.

3. Google Glass (Google, 2013)
Google Glass was hailed as the future of wearable technology, but it quickly became a symbol of privacy concerns and social awkwardness. The idea of having a camera and display on eyeglasses raised numerous ethical and practical issues. After failing to gain widespread consumer adoption, Google Glass was eventually rebranded for enterprise use. While the technology was ahead of its time, it was a reminder that not all innovations are ready for the mass market.

4. Ford Edsel (Ford, 1957)
The Ford Edsel is often cited as one of the biggest marketing failures in automotive history. Hyped as a revolutionary car, it was launched with massive advertising campaigns and high expectations. However, the public’s response was underwhelming due to its unusual design, high price, and competition from other Ford models. The Edsel was discontinued after just three years, costing Ford millions.
PepsiCo’s attempt to create a clear, caffeine-free cola called Crystal Pepsi in the early ’90s is a classic example of a failed product. Despite heavy marketing, consumers found the idea unappealing, and the drink’s taste didn’t match the hype. Crystal Pepsi was discontinued in less than a year. However, it has since gained a cult following, with occasional comebacks in limited editions.

6. Ez Squirt Ketchup, Heinz, 2006
In the year 2000, Heinz made a creative move to captivate the interest of children by introducing a unique variation of their ketchup known as “Ez Squirt,” featuring vibrant colors like teal, green, and purple. However, this unconventional idea had a relatively short shelf life, as it was discontinued after just six years on the market.

7. Kitchen Entrees, Colgate, 1982
Back in 1982, Colgate ventured into an unusual brand extension by entering the frozen dinner market. However, this unconventional move didn’t go as planned, possibly because consumers couldn’t shake the association between Colgate and toothpaste, leading them to believe that the food might taste like toothpaste. It’s uncommon for a company to introduce a product expecting it to cannibalize sales of their existing offerings, but in this case, Colgate should have anticipated the outcome. Following the introduction of their kitchen entrees line, toothpaste sales sharply declined.

8. Office Assistant Clippy, Microsoft, 1990s
Clippy has gained notoriety as one of the most disliked user interfaces ever created. It was intended to assist by popping up when the software detected a need for help, but it ended up irritating many users. Microsoft eventually recognized its unpopularity and decided to remove this feature.
For many years, Coors has promoted its beer as being “cold brewed with pure Rocky Mountain spring water,” a tradition dating back to 1873. However, in response to the rising trend of moderate alcohol consumption and the substantial growth in the bottled water market, the company made the strategic choice to introduce spring water as a nonalcoholic beverage, marking its first such product since the Prohibition era. Despite leveraging their existing bottling and distribution infrastructure, the Coors brand itself didn’t prove to be a significant selling point for their bottled water.

10. Evian Water Bra
Evian, renowned as one of the world’s most recognized purified water brands, held a prominent position in the beverage industry. In 2005, the company attempted diversification by creating a unique product—a support brassiere designed to be filled with water. This innovative garment aimed to provide women with a cooler alternative to conventional bras, especially in hot weather, and even included a small pouch for holding a bottle of mineral water. However, it’s not surprising that this unconventional product failed to gain traction, and it was discontinued shortly after its launch.

Many of us must have seen quite a lot of films surrounding cars. Movies like Rush and Ford v Ferrari provide us with the proper cinematic experience of a driver. F1 drivers are not something to be taken lightly, neither is the 24-hour Le Mans racing circuit. There are a lot of people who would love to have that adrenaline rushing on pressing on the pedal. Even if they do not drive fast, they might get the urge to rev their cars or pick up the speed on an empty straight road. For us, that can be Shahra-e-Faisal.
So, when it comes to fast cars with robust engines and sturdy builds, there are quite a few you can buy and drive in Pakistan. Some of these are in the mid-range of vehicles, while others can be considered quite high-end. Nevertheless, their performance is something that speaks volumes and remains unrivaled.
1. Toyota Mark X
This is one of the cars towards which you just look at and feel envious of whoever is driving it. It features either a robust 2.5L or a 3L engine. This car is a monster underneath the hood and it has a rear-wheel-drive configuration. A slip differential and you can count on countless donuts or drifts. While the speedometer on the car goes up to 180, it might just be one of the fastest 180s you might have seen.
2. Honda Civic Reborn
Of course, we cannot mention fast cars and leave out Honda Civics. The Honda Civic that people come to know here under the name of ‘Civic Reborn’ is another beast of the streets. Its manual transmission variant is the one to look out for. A 5-speed manual transmission built on top of a 1.8L engine is sure to send tires burning. It has one of the fastest combustion engine accelerations.

3. Toyota Cars – Corolla ’86
This is the vehicle that has been one of the most used ones as Project cars. Even on a stock engine, this car can go up quite high on the speedometer. There is a lot of heat packed underneath its hood and its sound is something that many people love. For those who love the speed of classic cars always have their eyes lit up at the mention of the Corolla ’86.

4. Mazda Cars – Rx-8
We would mention the Rx-7 with the rotary engine as well but that one is harder to find in Pakistan. The Rx-8, however, is still considered the affordable sports car. You can get quite a decent one in less than 30 lacs which has a functioning and powerful engine. While the rotary engine itself was not a successful engine and you’d much rather buy the piston engine variant, the sound of the rotary is to die for!
5. Lexus CT 200H
Yet another quite rare vehicle, it is certainly worth noting how powerful it is. With a sleek design and a swift acceleration, this vehicle is a favorite of many car lovers. Not only does it deliver unparalleled power, it also gives a good fuel average. You might not expect it from a lot of fast cars but this one keeps both in balance.

These are just some of the fast cars available to purchase in Pakistan. The price range varies from about 18 Lac till as high as 50 Lac.
If you ask most of the mechanics that are working in Pakistan, they will tell you they prefer working on Diesel engines. They consider Diesel engines to be less of a hassle. To them, its much easier to diagnose, pull apart and put together a diesel engine than a petrol engine. Do you ever wonder why bigger machinery uses these engines? It is agreeable that the sound of a diesel engine does not sit well in a car, so we will not be discussing that.
Today, we only mean to talk about why are diesel engines considered to perform better than petrol ones? Is there something special about them? It also seems to be that these engines outlast most of the petrol engines that were manufactured in the same year. Let us take a look at these reasons.
1. Diesel Fuel Efficiency
These engines burn less fuel over a longer period of time because of the difference of the compression ratio. You can expect a diesel powered vehicle to run longer on the motorway than a petrol powered one. Not only that, but the vehicle will run more stable and have less vibrations in it. This is why trucks and lorries have these engines, because they can run hundreds of kilometers without breaking a sweat.
2. Torque Production
Diesel engines produce more low-end torque, thus making them ideal for hauling heavy weights. Ever wonder how Jeeps are able to pull that much weight or drag cars out of trouble. Its because the diesel engine lets them produce that much power. While these engines are not as fast as petrol ones, they are excellent for off-road driving, and low-speed performance.
3. Diesel Engine Durability
It has often been noted that Diesel engines tend to run for longer periods of time than petrol engines do. A stock standard petrol engine may require an overhaul at 200,000 or 300,000 kilometers. However, a diesel engine may not require one at all until more than 600,000 kilometers. It’s more than double. Additionally, if the air intake of a diesel engine is kept above water, the entire engine can be submerged and keep running underwater.
4. The Absence of Spark Plugs
Due to the absence of spark plugs in diesel engines, they perform better. Using spark plugs means having another component of the vehicle to maintain. Rather than spark-based ignition, diesel engines use the heat produced by air compression to combust the fuel. This is a much more efficient way to combust fuel and these engines also produce less CO2 emissions.
5. Availability
While petrol engine stations might not be present as much in rural areas or in off-road sites, Diesel stations are present in many more places. This is because such areas expect a lot of diesel powered vehicles to move through or cross them. Thus, not only does diesel burn less fuel per liter, it is more readily available when going cross-country.
These are just some of the reasons why diesel engines perform better than petrol engines in specific circumstances. Of course, these engines have their cons too and there are areas where petrol engines take the cake.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) addressed recent speculations about the Indian cricket team donning a saffron-coloured kit for the highly anticipated World Cup 2023 match against Pakistan.
Contrary to reports, BCCI’s Ashish Shelar affirmed that India will proudly continue to wear their national blue throughout the World Cup campaign.
Rumours began circulating as the team India trained in a saffron kit similar to the one worn by the Netherlands. Some drew parallels to the 2019 World Cup when India introduced an alternate jersey.
However, Shelar was quick to quash these reports, labelling them as unfounded and the product of imaginative thinking. He stated, “We categorically dismiss the media reports that Team India will be donning an alternative match kit against Pakistan. These reports are absolutely baseless and a work of someone’s imagination. The Men in Blue will sport India colours – Blue at ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.”
Source: Twitter
It’s worth noting that during the 2019 World Cup in England, teams were permitted to wear alternate kits in case of a colour clash with their opponents. India famously sported a dark blue jersey with vibrant orange sleeves during their match against England. Likewise, South Africa opted for their distinctive yellow jersey in games against Pakistan and Bangladesh.
The anticipation for the India-Pakistan clash, slated for October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, continues to mount, promising an electrifying showdown that fans will long remember.
The ICC World Cup 2023 officially began in India on October 5. The tournament features 10 teams vying for the title across 10 venues in 45 high-stakes league matches.
As the tournament progresses, the top four teams will advance to the semifinals. These crucial matches are set in Mumbai on November 15 and in Kolkata on November 16. Reserve days have been allocated for both the semifinals and the final to ensure fairness.

Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana is set to make a return to the side for their crucial ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 fixture against Pakistan today.
Despite suffering from a hamstring injury during the Asia Cup 2023, Theekshana was included in Sri Lanka’s World Cup squad. After missing the opening game against South Africa, he is now poised for a comeback.
Assistant coach Naveed Nawaz confirmed Theekshana’s full recovery and expressed confidence in his availability for the upcoming match.
Nawaz stated, “He’s fit and should play tomorrow. We didn’t want to risk him in the first game against medical advice, but he should be ready here.”

Anticipating a tough encounter against Pakistan, Nawaz emphasized the need for Sri Lanka to handle pressure situations effectively.
“We expect to face similar pitches. They are not going to change; it’s going to be batting-friendly mostly. We have to look at our execution and see how we could’ve pulled back another 50-60 runs,” he explained.
Furthermore, Nawaz stressed the importance of maintaining a positive outlook within the team, considering the demanding nature of the tournament.
“It’s a long tournament, we’re going to be playing, travelling and doing other things for over a month. We just have to take the learnings from each game and move forward.”
Both Pakistan and Sri Lanka have commenced their ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 campaigns with different outcomes.
Pakistan secured a convincing 81-run victory against the Netherlands at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, while Sri Lanka faced a thumping defeat against South Africa, losing by 102 runs the following day.

Renowned as one of India’s finest white-ball cricketers, MS Dhoni’s maiden World Cup in 2007 was unexpectedly lacklustre. Despite a stellar start to his ODI career, boasting an average above 40 and an impressive strike rate of 96, Dhoni’s performance in the West Indies tournament left much to be desired.
In India’s inaugural match against Bangladesh, Dhoni faced a disheartening dismissal, bowled out for a mere three-ball duck by left-arm spinner Mohammad Rafique. This early exit proved pivotal, as the Men in Blue were bundled out for a modest 191, ultimately losing the game by five wickets.
Unfortunately, Dhoni’s World Cup woes continued in the subsequent match against Sri Lanka, where he managed to score a single run before facing another dismissal. These initial setbacks painted a dismal picture for Dhoni and the Indian team in the tournament.
However, fate took a remarkable turn for Dhoni as in the next edition of World Cup he stood as the triumphant captain, lifting the World Cup trophy on home soil in 2011. This victory marked a historic moment in Indian cricket history and solidified Dhoni’s legacy as a legendary captain.
Dhoni’s journey in the ODI World Cups reflects his ability to transform adversity into triumph. With an impressive average of 43.33 in 29 games and a strike rate of 90, he proved instrumental in India’s success on the world stage. His story stands as a testament to the resilience and determination that define a true cricketing legend.
AB de Villiers

AB de Villiers, a name synonymous with cricketing brilliance, faced a humble beginning in his World Cup journey. His debut in 2007 mirrored that of MS Dhoni, with both legendary batters dismissed for ducks in their inaugural World Cup matches.
De Villiers’ early ODI career was marked by struggle, with an average languishing at a mere 15.78 in his initial 14 games. However, the dynamic former South Africa captain showcased his mettle in 2006, signifying the promise of a cricketing powerhouse in the making.
Despite these promising signs, De Villiers encountered a tough start in the 2007 World Cup opener against the Netherlands. He was out for a duck after just two balls, contributing to an unforgettable match known for Hershelle Gibbs’ monumental feat of six 6s in an over. South Africa amassed a staggering 353 and clinched victory by a commanding margin of 221 runs.
The 2007 World Cup unfolded as a roller-coaster ride for De Villiers, epitomized by his unique scores of 0, 62, 92, 0, 0, 15, 146, 0, 42, and 15. This remarkable run included a record four ducks alongside three spectacular 50+ scores.
Despite an inconsistent initiation to his World Cup campaign, AB de Villiers transformed into one of the tournament’s most celebrated players. His tally of 1,207 runs in 23 World Cup games, boasting an exceptional average of 63.52 and an explosive strike rate of 117.29, featured four memorable centuries.
Ross Taylor

The 2007 World Cup seems to have held a unique charm, albeit of a challenging nature, for some of cricket’s legendary batters. Former New Zealand stalwart Ross Taylor found himself in the company of MS Dhoni and AB de Villiers when he was dismissed for a duck in his World Cup debut against England.
The Kiwis were tasked with chasing a modest 210 for victory. However, in a dramatic turn of events, Taylor’s innings was cut short early on, mirroring the tough starts experienced by other cricketing greats in their inaugural World Cup matches. His departure left New Zealand struggling at 3/2 in just the second over. Nonetheless, the team rallied, thanks to vital contributions from Scott Styris and Jacob Oram, securing a six-wicket victory.
Taylor’s cricketing journey, spanning over a decade, has been marked by remarkable achievements. Despite the initial setback, the now-retired Taylor emerged as one of the most formidable ODI batters in the game. With an impressive record of over 8,600 runs at an average of 47.55 and an 83.55 strike rate, including an impressive tally of 21 centuries, Taylor’s contributions to the sport remain profoundly underrated.
Furthermore, his World Cup performance has not gone unnoticed. Across 33 games, Taylor has amassed over 1,000 runs at an average of 37.11, showcasing his consistency on the grand stage. His pivotal role in New Zealand’s journey to the final in both the 2015 and 2019 World Cups solidifies his status as an indispensable figure in the team’s success story.
Ajinkya Rahane
Source: Cricinfo
Amongst the illustrious names in this list, India’s Ajinkya Rahane stands out as one of the most poignant stories. His World Cup debut in 2015 saw him take the field at No.7, a position typically reserved for those who follow the top-order fireworks.
In a match against arch-rivals Pakistan, where Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli set a solid foundation, Rahane’s role was shifted down the batting order to accommodate power hitters earlier on. Demonstrating his characteristic selflessness, the 35-year-old faced the fierce pace of Sohail Khan, resulting in his dismissal for a golden duck in his World Cup debut. Despite this setback, Team India rallied and posted an impressive 300/7 in their allotted 50 overs, eventually clinching victory by a margin of 76 runs.
While Rahane has earned his stripes as one of India’s most accomplished Test batters, his presence in the ODI format has been sporadic. His World Cup journey, limited to the 2015 campaign, showcased glimpses of his tenacity. In eight games, Rahane notched a solitary half-century, averaging 34.66. This modest tally, however, contributed significantly to Team India’s semi-final run in the tournament.
Pathum Nissanka
Source: ICC
In the ongoing World Cup, Sri Lanka’s rising star, Pathum Nissanka, found himself on the wrong side of a cricketing statistic. At just 25 years old, Nissanka has already established himself as one of Sri Lanka’s most dependable batters since his ODI debut in 2021.
However, he faced a formidable challenge in a high-stakes run-chase against South Africa, with a daunting target of 429 runs. This demanded that Nissanka depart from his typically defensive approach and adopt a more aggressive stance. Unfortunately, facing the relentless pace of Marco Jansen, Nissanka’s stay at the crease was brief, resulting in a dismissal for a three-ball duck.
This setback played a role in Sri Lanka’s struggle to mount a significant chase, ultimately culminating in a defeat by a margin of 102 runs. Despite the challenging start, Pathum Nissanka’s presence remains pivotal to Sri Lanka’s aspirations of securing a spot in the World Cup semi-finals. His resilience and determination in the face of adversity are traits that mark him as a player to watch in the future.

From the Lucky One Mall to Dolmen Mall Clifton, the brand ambassador of J. was met with massive crowds of enthusiastic fans. While it was evident to netizens that the majority of the crowd was male, only a few noticed the woman who accompanied the Turkish heartthrob everywhere he went.
Meet Goksen Sel:
Goksen Sel happens to be Burak’s manager and contrary to speculation, she is not his sister or wife.
The International Celebrity Agent & Talent Consultant took to Instagram on Monday, expressing her gratitude for the three year journey with J. fragrances. “I am eagerly looking forward to the continuation of our collaboration with Burak Ozcivit and J,” she added.
The two-day visit kicked off with a breakfast event and a press conference at a local hotel, where a fragrance by J. named ‘Ruler’ was launched, inspired by Ozcivit’s role as ‘Osman Bey’ in “Kurulus: Osman.”
In the presser, Burak Ozcivit explained the suddenness of his trip, which explains why his wife, Fahriye Evcan, couldn’t join him. She is expecting their second child, and the actor’s tight schedule left him with limited options.
“I came straight from my shoot to the airport to reach here, and when I return, I will again go directly to my shoot,” he explained.
With the family matters settled, let’s turn our attention to Goksen Sel’s impeccable style, a subject we can’t help but discuss.
Later that day, the actor made an appearance at the Lucky One Mall, with Goksen Sel donning a crisp white shirt over blue jeans.
Another J. promotion took place at the Dolmen Mall Clifton branch, where she rocked a black top with green culottes.
Social media was also flooded with pictures and videos from a meet-and-greet event, where prominent figures from the acting, fashion, and showbiz industries lined up for a chance to capture a moment with Burak Ozcivit.
Goksen Sel, dressed in a striking black power suit with intricate fishnet embellishments adorning the neckline, was our another favourite highlight of the event.
The prospect of Ozcivit working in the Pakistani industry also looms large. “I had planned to come here two years ago also, but those plans could not materialize. This time I got an opportunity to visit here; thanks to J., I grabbed it with both hands, and so here I am,” he shared, expressing his eagerness to collaborate. However, his commitments to “Kurulus: Osman” currently occupy his schedule, but he’s open to exploring opportunities in the future.
As he wrapped up his visit, Burak Ozcivit expressed his admiration for Pakistan’s rich history and its similarities with Turkey. Hotpot, a culinary tradition originating from Asia, is more than just a meal—it’s an experience that combines exquisite flavours and social bonding. Ordering hotpot like a pro will take a blend of knowledge, strategy, and a discerning palate. Let’s unravel the secrets of ordering hotpot like a true connoisseur.
1. Selecting the Perfect Hotpot Venue
The restaurant you’re choosing for a hotpot feast also adds up to your experience. If you’re looking for aesthetics or a nearby venue, you might end up compromising on what could have been a game changer. Look for a reputable eatery that offers a variety of broth options, a fresh and diverse selection of ingredients, and an inviting atmosphere. Online reviews and recommendations from friends can also save you from a mediocre experience.
2. Pick Your Broth with Care
Hotpot revolves around the flavourful broth that infuses every ingredient with its essence. Most hotpot restaurants offer a selection of broths, including clear, spicy, herbal, and more. As a professional, your choice of broth sets the tone for the entire meal. Start with a classic clear broth for a traditional experience, or if you’re feeling adventurous, opt for a spicy or herbal variation to tantalise your taste buds.

3. Master the Art of Ingredient Selection
Hotpot offers a treasure trove of ingredients to choose from. As a pro, aim for a balanced mix of proteins, vegetables, and other accompaniments. Select thinly sliced meats like beef, lamb, or pork, and complement them with a variety of mushrooms, leafy greens, seafood, tofu, and noodles. Remember that the quality and freshness of these ingredients greatly impact the overall taste.
4. Understand Cooking Times
Achieving the perfect doneness for each ingredient is a hallmark of a hotpot professional. Delicate items such as thinly sliced meat and seafood cook quickly and should be swished in the broth for just a few seconds. Conversely, root vegetables and denser noodles require more time. Pay close attention to cooking times to ensure every bite is cooked to perfection.

5. Craft Your Dipping Sauce
Dipping sauce creation is an art form in hotpot dining. Combine soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, chili paste, and vinegar to concoct your perfect dipping sauce. There are no strict rules; the goal is to enhance your flavors. Start with small amounts of each ingredient and adjust to your liking.
7. Savor the Social Aspect
Finally, remember that hotpot is not just about the food—it’s about bonding and creating memories with friends and loved ones. Engage in conversations, share stories, and relish the communal nature of this dining experience.

On top of that, hygiene is paramount when sharing a communal hotpot. Use separate utensils for raw and cooked ingredients to prevent cross-contamination. Make sure the communal ladle remains clean when using it in the broth and don’t forget hand sanitizers.
