Khalil Ur Rehman, a prominent writer known for his unapologetic views on gender boundaries, stirs another debate with his comments on women’s rights and co-education.
In a recent interview with Saqib Momin, Rehman doubled down on his controversial stance, proudly asserting, “the greater the supply of low-value women, the more it benefits men.”
During the interview, a fan admired him for his work but also urged him to participate in the Aurat March—an annual event advocating for women’s rights in Pakistan. Surprisingly, the writer didn’t hesitate to accept the invitation, but he posed a condition: “If you kick out some people, I will join the Aurat March.”
Rehman revealed that he has previously shown support for the peace walk for women’s rights, even offering the organizers to craft slogans that would draw attention to the critical issues women face.
This unexpected statement has added complexity to Rehman’s public image, as he grapples with the paradox between his views and actions.
However, Rehman’s interview wasn’t solely about women’s rights. He also voiced his opposition to co-education. When the host questioned him about why he doesn’t incorporate this perspective into his own dramas, Rehman found himself on the spot.
He replied by saying that he can only work with the content provided to him, indicating that the industry norms play a significant role in shaping the narratives he writes.
