Ahmed Ali Butt Thinks Our Cricket Team Needs A ‘Software Update’

Source: The Times

The ongoing Cricket World Cup has been a rollercoaster of emotions for fans and celebrities, especially when it comes to the performance of the Pakistan cricket team. Among those who have shared their opinions on social media, actors Mawra Hocane and Ahmad Ali Butt have provided contrasting perspectives on the team’s journey in the tournament.

Ahmad Ali Butt’s Candid Critique

Ahmad Ali Butt, in a candid Instagram story, didn’t mince his words when expressing his disappointment in Pakistan’s performance. His feelings mirrored the sentiments of many cricket lovers who had high hopes for the team. He began by lamenting how, like many other aspects of Pakistani society, cricket had become heavily politicized. Butt’s frustration was palpable as he criticized the excuses and justifications that had been offered for what he saw as the team’s “poor performance.”

Butt’s Call for Accountability

Adding to his disappointment was the reception from Pakistan’s neighboring country, which he sarcastically described as “wonderful.” Butt’s words resonated with fans who had invested their emotions in the team’s journey. He didn’t stop at expressing his discontent; he also pointed out the lack of accountability and predicted political manoeuvring over control of the team. He likened the situation to a software update, suggesting that a significant overhaul was necessary. In conclusion, he used the hashtags “Cricket World Cup” and “Pakistan Cricket Team” to share his message with his followers.

Mawra Hocane’s Optimistic Outlook

In contrast, Mawra Hocane offered a more optimistic perspective. Citing an ICC publication, she acknowledged the turbulence of Pakistan’s journey in the World Cup and the need for improvement. Hocane, however, also highlighted the indomitable spirit of Pakistani cricket.

She acknowledged that Pakistan might face repeated failures and that they would need a miracle to survive. But what Hocane truly admired was the Pakistani mentality of respecting opponents even in the face of adversity. She took pride in her country’s capacity to avoid bitterness, even when the going gets tough.

The Pakistani Way

Hocane also pointed out the warmth and kindness exhibited by the nation, which shines through regardless of the ups and downs of the game. For her, the spirit of the players and the fans is something to be proud of. She emphasized that, in Pakistan, cricket is a sport, not a war, and that they compete on the field without resorting to mockery, insults, or degradation. Whether they win or lose, the Pakistani approach to the game remains commendable in her eyes.

The contrasting viewpoints of Ahmad Ali Butt and Mawra Hocane reflect the wide range of emotions that cricket evokes in Pakistan. While Butt expressed his frustration and disappointment, Hocane celebrated the enduring sportsmanship and respect that remain integral to the Pakistani cricketing culture. In the end, both perspectives are a testament to the passionate and resilient spirit of Pakistan’s cricketing community.

7 of The Biggest Failed Products by Microsoft!

Microsoft failed products in history

Today, if we ask someone about Microsoft, you might hear nothing but praise. Of course, there are fans of other companies as well but people love Microsoft. The company has come a long way since the first product was made and they have been rising well. They are currently one of the top contributors to the advancement of technology. Alongside this, they operate within the gaming domain as well. The Xbox has been one of the most commercially successful products of all time.

However, Microsoft did not get to where they are now easily. They had to go through quite a lot of hurdles and face criticism. They have released products over the years that were not as successful as they had hoped for. There are products that were good but they seemed either too ahead or too expensive for their time. Let us take a look at some of the company’s biggest failed products.

1. The Microsoft Zune

Back when Apple was releasing the iPod and everyone was hooked to it, Microsoft released a series of products known as Zune, in 2006. They consisted of media players as well as a music subscription service. However, due to the features and functionality offered by the iPod, it did not sell well in the industry and was shut down in 2012.

2. Windows ME

The Windows ME (Millenium Edition) was released in 2000 after windows 98. However, there were such severe crashing and incompatibility issues in the product that they were forced to recall it. People loved Windows 98 but they had no good feelings towards windows ME.

3. Microsoft Portrait

This was a video conferencing platform that was launched by Microsoft. It can be called a product that was much ahead of its time. It was way before Skype and FaceTime were released. People did not understand it as much or they did not like the interface of it, thus it was cancelled. To think that such a failed product is now a billion-dollar industry.

4. Lumia Smartphones

When Microsoft acquired Nokia, they came out with a brand of smartphones known as Nokia Lumia. People first got intrigued by it, but once they started to use it, they disliked it. It had a lot of performance issues, it was limited in a lot of areas and it heated up quite a lot. There are people who call it ahead of its time in terms of a simple UI, but Microsoft suffered a blow.

5. Microsoft Windows Vista

Before we were introduced to Windows 7 and all its glory, we came face to face with windows vista. It was one of the worst windows that Microsoft had ever released. It had lots of glitches and was slow. Other than that, its hardware and software had incompatibility issues which were in addition to high prices. Eventually, it was cancelled by the company.

6. Office Assistant Clippy

Do you remember the paperclip mascot that used to appear on your windows? It was present within applications as an A.I assistant. People at the time did not have that solid of an understanding on how A.I worked. Due to that, they did not trust the technology that Clippy was made on. It was a new-born technology at the time and it was quite ahead, thus it had to be shut down. Before Alexa, let us always remember that Clippy came first.

7. Microsoft Windows 8

Here we have another windows by Microsoft that turned out to be a failure. It did not attract users because of its confusing interface. For the start menu, it took users to whole new screen which had only apps on it. You could not access the desktop while using the start menu. The company did fix the issue with the release of 8.1, but by then it was too late to get the people back!

These products were not the highlight of Microsoft but the company has learned from each and every one of them. It now stands among the front runners to the tech domain.

Ushna Shah Laments Govt’s Decision To Deport Afghan Refugees

In lieu of the decision to expel illegal Afghan refugees, tens of thousands of Afghan citizens have departed from Pakistan and are returning to Afghanistan this month.

The decision, which came earlier this month, was prompted by an explosion at a mosque in Mastung city near the Afghanistan border. The blast occurred during a religious celebration and claimed the lives of at least 50 people.

Pakistani government then issued directives for foreigners lacking proper documentation to depart by November 1, or else risk deportation.

Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Sarfraz Bugti, did not explicitly mention this incident or another attack in Balochistan province when issuing the crackdown order against “illegal” Afghan residents.

It’s worth noting that Afghanistan’s authorities have consistently denied offering sanctuary to militants who pose a threat to Pakistan.

Ushna Shah Shares Her Stance

Actress and model Ushna Shah took to her Twitter account to protest against the government’s decision, stressing how Afghan refugees must not be sent back to the realms of the Taliban since God knows what’s gonna happen to these people there.

Netizens React To Her Tweet

If there is one thing that happens often on social media, it’s the fans urging celebrities to get their information straight and educate themselves on the matter. A similar instance happened with Ushna where netizens shared their two cents about her tweet.

‘They are illegal immigrants Ushna.’ One user wrote.

‘Really? We can afford them. They are smuggling. They are increasing crime in Pakistan. Everyone has to protect their people first. We have been facilitating them for decades and we get hate in return.’ another user wrote.

‘Ushna this time you are on the wrong side.’

Pakistani authorities have emphasized that the countrywide enforcement actions are not aimed at the 1.4 million Afghan refugees who possess legal registration or the approximately 900,000 individuals holding Afghan citizenship cards.

The government has issued directives to law enforcement agencies to refrain from causing any inconvenience to Afghan residents who comply with the law. However, there have been claims from both Taliban representatives and refugees about alleged police misconduct, mistreatment, and instances of extortion.

Pakistan’s telecom industry has witnessed a significant transformation in recent years, within which Zong 4G has emerged as an unstoppable force. Among the telecom giant’s many accomplishments, establishing itself as the fastest-growing international roaming provider in the country is particularly impressive. It continued to launch individual bundles but it reached the peak of flexibility and affordability through the MYOB (Make your own bundle) feature on the My Zong App. Customers can take full control of their bundles, allocating minutes, data, and SMS according to their needs, resulting in a truly unique combination.

An ever-expanding partner network is another key contributor to Zong 4G’s success. Through partnerships with international telecom operators, the company has extended its reach to over 150 countries, including popular destinations such as KSA, Iran, Thailand, and the UK, ensuring that travelers can stay connected wherever they go. This extensive network bolsters subscribers’ WhatsApp connectivity.

Angelo Mathews joins Sri Lanka ICC World Cup 2023 squad

angelo-mathews-joins-sri-lanka-icc-world-cup-2023-squad

Sri Lanka’s seasoned all-rounder, Angelo Mathews, has been drafted into the ICC World Cup 2023 squad, replacing the injured pacer, Matheesha Pathirana.

Pathirana sustained a debilitating shoulder injury during Sri Lanka’s clash against Pakistan. This sidelining has ruled Pathirana out of the forthcoming crucial encounters against Australia and the Netherlands.

Angelo Mathews, no stranger to the international stage, had already joined the Sri Lankan ranks as a travelling reserve alongside the fiery pacer, Dushmantha Chameera, prior to the showdown with the Netherlands. His inclusion is poised to infuse a wealth of experience and serve as a pivotal morale boost for the Sri Lankan side. The all-rounder has been a stalwart for Sri Lanka, representing the nation in the 2011, 2015, and 2019 World Cups, even captaining the side in the 2015 edition.

Pathirana’s unfortunate exit marks another setback for Sri Lanka in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023, following the loss of their skipper, Dasun Shanaka, due to a quadriceps tear sustained during the encounter against Pakistan. Pacer Chamika Karunaratne has been called up to fill Shanaka’s shoes, while the leadership mantle has been passed to wicketkeeper Kusal Mendis.

Adding to Sri Lanka’s woes, their ace spinner Wanindu Hasaranga is also absent from the World Cup due to an injury.

The former champions find themselves grappling in the current ICC World Cup 2023 campaign, presently languishing at the ninth spot with a meager two points from four matches. Their next challenge comes against the defending champions, England, on October 26, in a battle to climb the ranks and revive their World Cup aspirations.

Misbah-ul-Haq opens up about suggestion to include Abrar Ahmed

misbah-ul-haq-opens-up-about-suggestion-to-include-abrar-ahmed

In the midst of Pakistan’s struggles in the ICC World Cup 2023, Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq, who heads the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Cricket Technical Committee (CTC), disclosed that they had recommended the inclusion of mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed in the squad.

However, the team management thought otherwise and added Abrar Ahmed only as a reserve player along with Mohammad Haris and Zaman Khan.

Misbah-ul-Haq Advocates for Abrar Ahmed Inclusion

Speaking on a local sports channel, the 49-year-old Misbah-ul-Haq emphasized that teams would face Abrar only once, as this is not a series.

“Our [cricket committee] viewpoint was to include a mystery spinner especially when you are playing with different teams since it is not a series. Most of them would be playing for the first time,” Misbah stated. “So, we suggested keeping Abrar Ahmed in the squad keeping in mind, our spin bowling is not in good form and didn’t do well in the Asia Cup,” he added.

Source: PCB

He further mentioned that it was his and Hafeez’s opinion, emphasizing that the final decision rested with the team management and captain Babar Azam. “Team management and captain’s decision is more important in this regard,” he added.

‘Abrar Ahmed could have been a trump card’

The Pakistan team is currently grappling with challenges in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023, having suffered three consecutive losses out of five matches played.

The team management is facing criticism over player selection, particularly with regards to spin bowlers. Frontline spin bowlers Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz were out of form before the World Cup. Meanwhile, Usama Mir who was included as the third spin bowler, struggled in the two matches he played. He conceded 82 runs against Australia for a single wicket, while against Afghanistan, he gave away 55 runs without taking any wickets.

Considering his variations and recent success in test cricket, Abrar Ahmed could have been a game-changer for the Pakistan team. He has represented Pakistan in six test matches, claiming 38 wickets at an average of 31.07.

Shedding light on Pakistan’s $5B beauty industry through Daraz’s insights

In a world where appearance and self-confidence are often intertwined, the beauty and personal care industry has taken center stage. Pakistan, with its dynamic demographics and evolving consumer patterns, has not been left untouched by the industry’s allure. The beauty and personal care sector in Pakistan is in a phase of rapid growth, with Daraz, one of the leading e-commerce platforms, lies at the heart of this transformative journey. We spoke to the CCO of Daraz Pakistan, Arusha Imtiaz, who helped us understand the beauty landscape in Pakistan and gave us insights into how the market operates.

Untangling the Beauty and Personal Care Market:

For us to understand the market, Arusha gave us a little run-down of what products fall under Daraz’s Beauty & Personal Care category. These include personal care, Skincare, Makeup, Fragrances, and Beauty Tools. Expanding on the industry, Arusha shared, “The global beauty and personal care industry is often estimated at around $240 million, boasting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.6%. However, in Pakistan, where the industry remains largely undocumented, Daraz has conducted its own research to unearth the market’s true potential. According to our insights, the regulated market for beauty and personal care in Pakistan stands at an astounding $5 billion.” This goes on to show that there is ample room for businesses to thrive and for consumers to explore a diverse range of products and services.

The Majors and the Emerging Challengers:

Leading the charge in Pakistan’s beauty landscape are global behemoths such as L’Oreal, Maybelline, LUX, Sunsilk, Pond’s, Pantene, and Neutrogena. Over the years, these brands have nurtured a devoted customer base through strategic marketing and product innovation. With the advent of social media, they have leveraged global trends to tap into the awareness of eager consumers.

But Arusha tells us that it’s not just global giants that are making waves, “local brands have stepped up their game, attracting consumers seeking quality alternatives amidst rising inflation. The likes of Conatural, Hira Ali, Saeed Ghani, and others have achieved remarkable success, showcasing growth rates of up to 6 times on Daraz. Even more fascinating is the arrival of new players that match international brands’ pricing and quality, successfully carving a niche for themselves.”

Forces Fueling the Surge:

The growth of the beauty and personal care industry in Pakistan can be attributed to several key factors. The expanding middle-class population with higher disposable incomes has fueled the desire for products beyond daily essentials. The increasing number of women joining the workforce has broadened the customer base for beauty and cosmetic products. Internet penetration has simplified access to these products through e-commerce platforms, further facilitating consumer exploration.

Social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube have played an instrumental role in reshaping the industry. Beauty influencers and makeup artists use these platforms to connect with a vast audience, influencing purchasing decisions and propelling specific brands and products to new heights.

Daraz’s Growth Story:

Though Daraz maintains a policy of not disclosing their category-specific revenue split, their personal care category tells an impressive tale. Arusha shared that the category has seen remarkable year-on-year growth, with a 29% increase in 2022 and a staggering 51% growth so far in 2023.

Evolving Consumer Patterns and Beauty Perceptions:

In a highly competitive market, consumer patterns have evolved significantly in recent years. The introduction of new brands, products, formulas, and ingredients has provided consumers with a plethora of choices. This has resulted in a more experimental consumer base, willing to explore different brands and products. Daraz has kept pace with these trends by continuously onboarding new brands and products to cater to its diverse user base.

The Growing Male Interest:

While women still make up the majority of Daraz’s customer base for beauty and personal care products, there has been a noteworthy surge in male buyers. The trend is indicative of the increasing male interest in grooming and personal care. Brands are adapting by introducing products specifically tailored to men’s skin and grooming needs, demonstrating the industry’s recognition of changing preferences.

A Tale of Two Cities and Beyond:

Consumer trends can vary significantly between metropolitan cities and second-tier cities in Pakistan. While urban hubs like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad showcase cosmopolitan preferences and buying power for high-end products, the penetration of social media and e-commerce has made tier-2 cities more aware and enabled. The convenience of online shopping has bridged the gap, making a wide array of products accessible to consumers in these regions.

Challenges and the Road Ahead:

The beauty and personal care industry in Pakistan faces challenges on both the supply and demand sides. Counterfeit products have plagued the supply side, affecting consumer trust. Additionally, consumers, in response to inflation, have become more price-sensitive, posing a challenge to brands. There is a need for local brands to scale up to meet the growing demand for quality yet affordable products.

The industry is shifting towards more scientific products, such as single-ingredient serums and carefully curated blends. Local brands must embrace this trend to manufacture such products within Pakistan. Value bundles are also gaining traction, offering cost-effective solutions for price-conscious consumers.

In the forthcoming five years, the industry is expected to grow at a 4% CAGR, with even higher growth anticipated for e-commerce platforms like Daraz as online shopping continues to gain popularity.

As the beauty and personal care industry in Pakistan continues its journey of transformation, it’s evident that the key to success lies in understanding and catering to the diverse needs and preferences of the ever-evolving Pakistani consumer. Daraz, with its finger on the pulse of this dynamic market, is set to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the industry.

Noor Mukadam Would Have Turned 30 Today: Osman Khalid Butt

Pakistani actor Osman Khalid Butt on Tuesday posted a heartfelt message commemorating what would have been Noor Mukadam’s 30th birthday. He also mentioned participating in a seminar organized by Noor’s close associates, with the shared goal of addressing and eradicating gender-based violence.

In Memory Of Noor Mukaddam

On what would have been her 30th birthday, Noor Mukadam, instead of being celebrated by her family and loved ones, became the poignant symbol of a somber gathering. Friends, family, civil society members, ambassadors, diplomats, and former members of the National Assembly came together for a seminar addressing a pressing concern: endemic femicide and gender-based violence.

Noor’s tragic fate underscores the urgent need to address these issues, not just as isolated incidents but as systematic problems that continue to plague societies around the world.

This seminar serves as a powerful reminder that lasting change is needed to ensure that Noor’s story is not repeated and that all individuals, regardless of gender, can live free from the fear of violence and discrimination.

The actor alongside the tweet shared a picture from the gathering held by friends and family. Meanwhile, the actor urged the fans to pray for the departed soul as well as for the women and girls who have been the victims of gruesome violence.

Take a look at his tweets.

The gathering on Noor’s birthday highlighted the importance of raising awareness, fostering discussion, and working collaboratively to combat femicide and gender-based violence. It is a solemn but necessary step towards dismantling the deeply rooted norms and attitudes that perpetuate such injustices.

Noor’s memory serves as a call to action for governments, organizations, and individuals to unite in their efforts to create a safer and more equitable world for everyone, honoring her memory by striving for a future where no one else suffers the same fate.

On July 20, 2021, Noor, a 27-year-old woman, was murdered at Zahir Jaffer’s residence in the upscale Sector F-7/4 of Islamabad. Subsequently, Zahir was convicted of the heinous murder and received a death penalty.

In an interim charge sheet presented in court on September 9, the police alleged that Zahir’s father was an accomplice in the crime and had prior knowledge of the brutal incident.

While some tend to respond, others make sure to not pay any heed to their haters. However, not everyone deserves a faux pass and actress Zoya Nasir has made sure to respond to one such person.

“I urge you all to help get rid of the bitterness she holds in her heart and give her the courage to do things face to face rather than hiding behind keyboards. Unfortunately I can’t tag her but you can,” Zoya shared on her story.

SBP Hints At Early Signs of Economic Recovery

Source: The News

Pakistan’s economic landscape in 2023 has shown signs of recovery, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). After a challenging period marked by a slowdown in economic activities, the SBP’s recent report indicates that a silver lining is now visible, suggesting early economic rejuvenation, partly driven by reduced global commodity prices and higher international growth forecasts.

A Reflection on Recent Measures

The SBP noted that measures taken to cool down the economy in the previous fiscal year, FY23, including monetary policy tightening, are now paying off. These measures have helped to control the rapid growth of imports, preventing a significant trade imbalance. However, despite these efforts, Pakistan continues to grapple with a substantial fiscal deficit, expected to range from 7-8%. This situation is primarily due to elevated interest payments associated with mounting debt, which surpasses the government’s target of 6.5% for fiscal year 2023-24.

Economic Growth Projections

Despite the observed improvements, the SBP has kept its initial projection for economic growth unchanged at 2-3% for fiscal year 2023-24. While this aligns closely with the International Monetary Fund’s forecast of 2.5%, it falls short of the government’s more ambitious target of 3.5%. In the preceding fiscal year, FY23, a combination of cooling measures and devastating floods resulted in a mere 0.3% economic growth, making it the third-lowest growth rate in seven decades.

Global Factors Impacting Recovery

Global economic prospects for 2023 have improved compared to earlier projections, as noted in the July 2023 World Economic Outlook. Furthermore, non-energy global commodity prices have eased, which bodes well for Pakistan’s economy. These trends may have positive implications for the country’s recovery.

Pakistan secured a $3 billion standby arrangement (SBA) from the IMF toward the end of FY23, which has helped alleviate immediate financial risks. The initial disbursement of $1.2 billion in July 2023, coupled with $3 billion in bilateral inflows, helped bolster the SBP’s foreign exchange reserves, reversing the declining trend.

Agricultural Growth and Incentives

The expected rebound in cotton and rice production is set to support agricultural growth in FY24. To encourage cotton production, the government announced a minimum price of Rs8,500 per 40 kg for the FY24 crop. This incentive has resulted in increased cotton sowing and encouraged farmers to invest in crop management practices despite rising prices for fertilizers and pesticides. Similarly, favorable weather conditions and rising domestic rice prices have incentivized growers to expand the area under paddy crops, boosting production.

Challenges Ahead

While the expansion in commodity-producing sectors is anticipated to have a positive impact on services in FY24, the effects of demand compression measures introduced in recent years may limit the pace of economic recovery. Furthermore, the lagged impact of previous monetary tightening and contractionary measures is expected to keep domestic demand in check.

Inflation and Revenue Prospects

Inflationary pressures are likely to moderate in FY24, driven by improved domestic supplies, a high base from the previous year, and the relatively stagnant trend in non-energy global commodity prices. However, unforeseen climate events, fluctuations in global commodity prices, and external account pressures remain potential challenges.

While Pakistan’s economy is showing early signs of recovery, several challenges persist. The government’s commitment to economic reform and financial management will play a pivotal role in the country’s quest for sustained economic growth and stability.

Over 630,000 Pakistanis Emigrated For Better Opportunities In 2023

Source: The Alert News

In the first nine months of 2023, a staggering 633,108 Pakistanis made the difficult decision to leave their homeland in pursuit of better employment opportunities abroad, as reported by the Bureau of Emigration & Foreign Employment.

Rapid Exodus in September

What’s particularly striking is that over 92,000 Pakistanis departed the nation in September alone, emphasizing the urgency and desire for better prospects in foreign lands. These numbers can be attributed to various occupational groups, including drivers, laborers, engineers, accountants, doctors, and teachers, who seek employment opportunities abroad.

Jobs Abroad: Pakistan witnesses mass migration, as over 630,000 people leave in 2023
Source: The News

A detailed breakdown of the data reveals that 17,058 were highly qualified, 35,414 highly skilled, 232,933 skilled, 65,922 semi-skilled, and 281,781 unskilled workers. These individuals embarked on a journey, hoping to improve their lives and contribute to their families’ economic well-being.

Top Destinations for Aspiring Migrants

The top destinations for these migrant workers include Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Qatar. These countries offer various opportunities in construction, healthcare, and other industries that attract a diverse range of skill sets. Malaysia, Bahrain, Romania, Greece, and Iraq also feature on the list, indicating the global nature of this labor migration phenomenon.

Official Registration vs. Other Means

However, it is essential to note that the data provided by the Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment only accounts for individuals who have officially registered with the organization. This figure excludes those who migrate for educational purposes, direct immigration, or through other means.

This mass exodus raises concerns about brain drain and its potential impact on Pakistan’s development. While it reflects the country’s aspirations for economic betterment, it also underscores the challenges that migrants face in foreign lands. These challenges include cultural, linguistic, and legal barriers, subpar working conditions, and limited access to legal protections.

Government Initiatives for Migrant Welfare

In response to these challenges, the Pakistani government has taken steps to protect the safety and welfare of its expatriates. Initiatives such as enhancing labor contracts, increasing consular services, and offering financial incentives aim to safeguard the rights and well-being of Pakistani workers abroad.

Data for Policy-Making

Accurate and timely data collection and policy-making are crucial in this era of globalization. The Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment plays a pivotal role in this by providing the government with vital information about its overseas workforce.

The significant increase in the number of Pakistanis seeking employment opportunities abroad reflects their determination for economic advancement. While this migration trend offers hope for a brighter future, it also underscores the need to address the challenges faced by these workers and the importance of safeguarding their interests. The Pakistani government’s proactive measures show a commitment to the welfare of its expatriates and the nation’s overall development.

5 Nifty Changes You Can Make To Old Busted Cars

cars and changes to old ones

It is possible to keep cars running for decades, provided they are under good care. If they are regularly maintained, they will never give the driver any trouble. However, sometimes you might find cars that are old and busted. However, you might still want to buy them because, despite the faults, they are good cars. So, if you have a decent budget and you want to build and make a car roadworthy, there are a few changes you can do.

Imagine that you come across a Suzuki Khyber or a Toyota Corolla with a busted engine. The engine needs to be repaired or replaced otherwise the car won’t run. Now, with a budget in hand, how can you build such a car? How can you build it in a way that it continues to run for many years afterward?

1. Engine Upgrade

As we mentioned above, you might find a good quality car with a busted engine. Now, if you find a Toyota Corolla 1.3L variant, you can always put in a new similar engine or you can upgrade to the 1.6L engine as well. Similarly, there are enthusiasts who have replaced the 1.0L engine in a Suzuki Cultus with a 1.3L engine. They have also replaced carburettor engines with the EFI engine. These changes will surely give the busted car a new life.

2. Transmission Change for Cars

Many times, there are engines that are compatible with both manual and automatic transmission. However, they come with a stock manual transmission. A nifty change you can make to a car with a worn-out transmission, is to change it with an automatic one. A lot of people have managed to alter the transmission from manual to automatic for ease of use and comfortable driving. Daihatsu Cuore, Suzuki Cultus, and Toyota Indus Corolla have all seen such changes.

3. Interior Upgrade

You might come across cars that are perfectly running but they have torn and busted interiors. In such a case, you can always upgrade to better seats and dashboards. An old mehran can always have better quality seats fit inside it, since the default seats are practically wooden boards.

4. Various Kits for Cars

A lot of cars here can go through rusting. Rusting is one of the biggest reasons for cars not running long. It can always be good to upgrade the bumpers, fenders and side skirts of rusted vehicles. Not only does it give the vehicle a fresh look, it feels pleasing to the eye.

That said, it is important to note that you should always get such work done through a professional.

Afghanistan send Pakistan crashing to shock World Cup defeat

afghanistan-send-pakistan-crashing-to-shock-world-cup-defeat

Afghanistan delivered a spectacular performance, excelling in both batting and bowling to hand Pakistan a surprising eight-wicket defeat in the World Cup 2023.

In pursuit of a 283-run target, Afghanistan showcased stellar performances from Ibrahim Zadran (87), Rahmat Shah (77 not out), and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (65), securing a score of 286-2 in 49 overs.

While Pakistan managed to set a total of 282-7 in their allotted 50 overs, with a notable contribution from skipper Babar Azam (74) and opener Abdullah Shafique (58), it ultimately proved insufficient against an efficient Afghanistan team.

Captain Hashmatullah Shahidi, with a brisk 45-ball 48 not out, sealed the victory for Afghanistan by hitting the winning boundary. This achievement surpassed Afghanistan’s previous highest successful ODI chase of 274 against the UAE in Dubai back in 2014.

Pakistan’s performance in the field was lackluster, allowing easy boundaries for Afghanistan’s openers.

It took Afghanistan just 15.3 overs to breach the 100-run mark. By that time, both Ibrahim and Gurbaz had brought up their fifties.

Pakistan’s first wicket only came in the 22nd over, when Afridi induced a top edge off Gurbaz’s blade that was snapped up by deep third.

Gurbaz exhibited an impressive performance, hitting nine boundaries and a six in his 53-ball knock. Meanwhile Zadran showcased his skills with 10 boundaries off 113 deliveries before giving a catch behind off Hasan Ali with 93 runs still needed.

Rahmat and Shahidi ensured that Afghanistan maintained their composure, with Rahmat hitting five fours and two sixes during his 84-ball stay at the crease.

In the earlier innings, Azam displayed an elegant half-century to lead his team to a competitive total after choosing to bat first.

Azam’s 92-ball innings was complemented by Shafique’s 75-ball 58, while Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed contributed valuable 40 runs each.

On the spin-friendly Chidambaram Stadium pitch, Afghanistan fielded four slow bowlers, with 18-year-old left-arm spinner Noor Ahmad delivering a career-best performance of 3-49 on his World Cup debut.

This victory marks Afghanistan’s first-ever win over Pakistan in eight ODIs, coming just eight days after their unexpected triumph over defending champions England in Delhi.

Reaction of captains

Captain Shahidi expressed his satisfaction with the win, stating, “This win tastes nice. The way we chased was very professional and the way we did that will help us going into our other games now.”

The loss significantly challenges Pakistan’s World Cup campaign, with three defeats in five games and a formidable match against South Africa looming at the same venue on Friday.

In contrast, Afghanistan’s campaign gains some momentum with two wins in five matches, and they are set to face struggling Sri Lanka in Pune on Sunday.

Pakistan’s captain, Azam, acknowledged the disappointment, saying, “That really hurt us. We got a good total. Our bowling is not up to the mark.”

The victory was met with celebrations in Kabul, including celebratory gunfire, cheers, and fireworks that lasted for at least 15 minutes after the match concluded.

It’s worth noting that this victory for Afghanistan occurs during a period of tense political and diplomatic relations between the two neighboring nations.

Mansha Pasha’s Mermaid-Inspired Dress Sparks Criticism

Pakistani actor Mansha Pasha recently treated her fans to a glimpse of the mermaid-inspired dress she wore to the IPPA awards held in Manchester.

With the Pakistani showbiz fraternity dressed up to the nines, the director-turned-actor also served looks in a couture gown by Lebanese designer, Reem Kachmar Couture.

Mansha’s look was styled to perfection by Sana Anver, wearing her hair down with natural glam makeup done by Judith Sarah. Nothing about those pictures, clicked by a UK-based photographer Chloe Maylor, said mediocre.

At the end of the day, her efforts failed to impress the Pakistani audience.

Some even drew comparisons between her and Urfi Javed, an Indian television actress and social media personality known for her distinctive, often revealing, outfits.

And at last, the concern that never gets old…

But Mansha’s photoshoot wasn’t the sole focus of criticism. Many netizens, including some actors, voiced their concerns about the IPPA Awards for hosting a celebratory evening amidst the ongoing Gaza crisis.

While the IPPA Awards went on as scheduled on a Sunday, several other countries decided against such arrangements in light of world events. MTV cancelled its Europe Music Awards, citing “the volatility of world events” amid the ongoing conflict in Israel and Gaza.

MTV Europe 2023 Awards were scheduled to broadcast live on Nov. 5 at Paris Nord Villepinte where acclaimed artists like Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Bad Bunny, and the Foo Fighters were among the nominees.

There Is No Bigger Drug Than The Stage: Mustafa Zahid

Pakistani musician Mustafa Zahid recently spilled the beans on what encouraged him to make music for Bollywood and the unique selling point in films. In between the dialogue, he also emphasised the impact of social media on artists and their mindset.

Mustafa Zahid On ‘Excuse Me’

Appearing on a podcast “Excuse Me with Ahmed Ali Butt”, Mustafa Zahid weighed in on the significance of live performances and how the numbers of likes on an artist’s social media cannot beat that.

“There is no bigger drug than fame and stage. The amount of high you get from performing on stage and people singing back to you so if you can only enjoy that in this complete process then you need nothing else,” Mustafa recalled as he reflected on his earlier time as Roxen’s lead vocalist and composer.

While talking about the new media, the music composer shared what he wants his children to remember about him in the coming time.

“It is very unfortunate that everything has become about likes and comments. My six-year-old son said to me the other day that baba you are so famous, you have four million followers on Spotify.”

He mentioned that it has now all become about numbers and it is quite unfortunate. “In our times we certainly wouldn’t care about popularity,” Mustafa added as he spoke of his popularity both among Indian and Pakistani actors, which grew particularly with his 2007 singles ‘Toh Phir Aao’ and ‘Tera Mera Rishta’.

Mustafa Zahid also shared his views about working with younger artists notably Asim Azhar and mentioned that people like him who has great work ethic show that they know what they are doing.
