Afghanistan’s young left-arm wrist spinner, Noor Ahmad, etched his name in World Cup history during the ICC World Cup 2023 clash against Pakistan.
Noor Ahmad’s exceptional figures of three wickets for 49 runs marked him as Afghanistan’s most successful bowler on a World Cup debut. He surpassed Shapoor Zardan’s 2-20 against Bangladesh in the 2015 tournament. His crucial dismissals of Abdullah Shafique, Mohammad Rizwan, and Babar Azam underscored his significance in critical moments.
The 18-year-old replaced the pace bowler Fazalhaq Farooqi, as Afghanistan sought to adapt to the spin-friendly conditions of Chennai. This tactical move paid off, and Noor Ahmad validated the decision made by Hashmatullah Shahidi.
Pakistan’s batting effort saw them set a competitive target of 283 runs for their Asian counterparts, thanks to noteworthy contributions from Babar, Abdullah, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Shadab Khan. Despite facing setbacks, with the score at 120-3 in 24.4 overs, Babar’s tenacity propelled the Green Shirts to a respectable total.
Following Babar’s departure, Iftikhar took charge of Pakistan’s innings, playing an aggressive knock, amassing 40 runs off 27 deliveries with two fours and four sixes, once again demonstrating his value to the team.
Having met seven times in ODIs, Pakistan has emerged victorious in all encounters against Afghanistan.

Star Australian women’s player Alyssa Healy has recently undergone finger surgery after suffering a dog bite during an attempt to intervene in a scuffle between her dogs.
Describing her injury as resembling “a crime scene,” Healy explained that the operation successfully repaired a severed artery.
The incident occurred during a playful interaction between the two puppies she shares with her husband, Australian paceman Mitchell Starc, which escalated beyond their usual rough play. Healy unfortunately found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time.
“When I pulled my finger out initially, I thought I was in strife,” she admitted. “I think there was an artery involved which probably made it look more like a crime scene than it needed to be. It was quite gory.”
Source: Daily Telegraph
Healy is set to consult with surgeons again on Thursday to get a clearer understanding of her ‘dog bite’ injury. If regular captain Meg Lanning returns, Healy is expected to resume her role as deputy. Otherwise, Tahlia McGrath might take the reins.
This latest injury is on the opposite index finger from the one Healy fractured twice during Australia’s tour of England and Ireland in June and July.
A Trend of Off-Field Cricketing Mishaps
Healy’s incident adds to a series of off-field injuries experienced by cricketers in recent years. For instance, Dane Van Niekerk missed part of the 2021-22 WBBL after cutting her finger while preparing an avocado. Similarly, Glenn Maxwell’s plans for reviving his Test career in India were dashed when he broke his leg at a party. Even England wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow suffered a similar fate with a golf-related injury last year.
Healy humorously suggested creating a group chat for cricketers dealing with off-field mishaps. Meanwhile, she’s focused on resolving matters with her dogs.
“The good news is we’re still friends,” she quipped. “They’re probably a little bit worse for wear than what I was, but we’re still friends. We all sat on the couch last night together and debriefed the situation and we’re all getting along fine.”
Considering Healy’s absence, the Sixers are contemplating finding a replacement player, with young wicketkeeper Kate Pelle taking up the gloves in their recent match against the Sydney Thunder.

OnePlus has always been a frontrunner for smartphones with an aesthetic display. Ever since people were introduced to the OnePlus 3T, they have been impressed by the quality of the phone. Not only does it deliver a smooth user interface, but it even sports a delicate and fancy design. Now, when a new smartphone is about to be released, it seems a new display type will be unveiled as well. Yes, there is something about the display of OnePlus phones that is going to create history with the brand.
So, what is it exactly that is giving the user a ‘Color me Intrigued’ vibe? According to sources, OnePlus and Oppo both intend to unveil a whole other type of display to the world. The display of the smartphone is one of the most engaging qualities of it. If the user does not like how the phone looks and feels while using it, they may not buy it. When it’s a smartphone and the entire smartphone consists of a touch screen, the display does play a major role.

OnePlus And Oppo With a Reveal
The information we have encompasses the brightness section of the display. Right now, we see smartphones operating within a brightness of 2000 nits. It is quite adequate for users but it can be tedious in daylight hours when the sun is high. At such a time, users often wish they had a more bright display. Thus, to cater to the user needs, OnePlus and Oppo will unveil a display that exceeds 2000 nits.
In fact, it is even going to exceed 2500 nits. The Oppo Find X6 Pro has a display whose brightness reaches 2500 nits. The unveil is going to be of a 3000 nits display! That seems like quite the higher brightness. It is not going to blind the user, it is going to make them feel at comfort where a higher brightness is required. The display surpasses all the smartphones that are currently on market!
Sustaining a New Display
Of course, when we talk about the display, we have to think about the smartphones that it is going to be attached to. To have such a news nearby means that an upcoming smartphone could sport such a display. The most recent smartphone we know that that is going to be released is the OnePlus 12.
Initial reports did suggest that the OnePlus 12 is going to have a higher brightness. The reports even suggested it will exceed 2000 nits, so maybe this phone will be the one with 3000 nits!
In a move aimed at meeting prior conditions set by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and securing a much-needed $700 million tranche, Pakistan’s caretaker government is preparing to implement a significant increase in gas tariffs of up to 200%. A summary of these proposed changes will be presented before the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) in an upcoming meeting.
Source: News 18
Domestic Gas Tariff Hike Ahead of Winter
The proposal, brought forth by the Petroleum Division, includes a substantial 200% hike in gas tariffs and a 172% increase in gas prices for domestic consumers, with the aim of implementing these changes ahead of the winter season. This decision is expected to impact various categories of gas consumers, including both protected and non-protected consumers.
Impact on Non-Protected Consumers
For non-protected consumers, the monthly fixed charges are set to increase significantly, with a 334.78% hike up to Rs2,000, alongside a 172% increase in the base tariff. In terms of consumption, the plan involves a Rs100 increase for those using 0.25 cubic meters monthly, rising to Rs300 per mmBtu for consumers using 0.60 cubic meters, and Rs600 per mmBtu for those in the 100-150 cubic meter range. The rates continue to rise, reaching Rs1,500 per mmBtu for those consuming 400 cubic meters.
Sector-Wide Implications
For export units, the suggested hike varies from Rs950 to Rs2,050 per mmBtu, while non-export units could see an increase from Rs1,400 to Rs2,600 per mmBtu. The CNG sector, which plays a significant role in Pakistan’s transportation, may witness an increase to Rs2,595 per mmBtu.
The recommendations extend to various industries, including the cement sector, which could face a hike of Rs2,900 per mmBtu, while the CNG sector may experience a notable adjustment to Rs4,400 per mmBtu. However, the proposal maintains the current prices for power generation units and tandoors.
IMF’s Urgent Call for Tariff Increase
It is worth noting that the IMF had previously urged Pakistan to “immediately raise” gas tariffs, emphasizing the necessity of a 100% increase to alleviate losses and reduce circular debt within the gas sector. The IMF’s concern was communicated during a virtual meeting with Pakistan’s finance ministry officials.
Source: Arab News
In response to these developments, the caretaker finance minister, Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, has called for an ECC session to discuss and potentially implement the proposed gas tariff hike from October 1, signaling the government’s commitment to fulfilling the IMF’s conditions and securing the much-needed tranche to bolster Pakistan’s economy.

The Bombay High Court has dismissed a plea attempting to bar Pakistani artists from working in India. The petition, initiated by Faaiz Anwar Qureshi, a member of the film industry and an artist, had called on the Indian government to prevent artists from Pakistan, encompassing actors, musicians, singers, lyricists, and technicians, from engaging in collaborations or employment within India.
India’s Ban On Pakistani Actors
As per reports, the plea referred to the resolution adopted by the All-Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) following the Pulwama attacks. As well as parallel resolutions by the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA) and the Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees (FWICE). These resolutions called for the exclusion of Pakistani artists from the Indian film industry. Furthermore, the MNS Cinema Wing, established by Raj Thackeray, cautioned filmmakers against engaging Pakistani artists.
A division bench comprising Justice Sunil B. Shukre and Justice Firdosh P. Pooniwalla emphatically expressed that the petition was deemed a “backward move in fostering cultural harmony, unity, and peace” and found no merit in it.
Advocate Vibhav Krishna, on behalf of the petitioner, contended that allowing Pakistani artists to work in India could result in bias against Indian artists. He argued that the favorable treatment offered to Pakistani artists in India is not mirrored for Indian artists in Pakistan. According to Krishna, the ban is crucial to prevent the potential exploitation of commercial opportunities by Pakistani artists in India. This might deprive Indian artists of equivalent opportunities.
Emphasizing the concept that art knows no boundaries and has the power to unite people, the court underlined that being a patriot doesn’t require harboring hostility toward individuals from foreign nations, even neighboring ones. They contended that a genuine patriot is someone who is altruistic, dedicated to their country, and a person of goodwill.

The Pakistan cricket team started their 2023 World Cup campaign with two victories, however; they encountered setbacks with two significant losses against India and Australia.
Here, we delve into three pivotal factors contributing to the struggles faced by Babar Azam and his team in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Struggles of Key Players in the World Cup
One of the primary factors contributing to Pakistan’s challenges in the 2023 World Cup has been the underwhelming performances of their star players, beginning with the team captain. Babar Azam has experienced a forgettable campaign, posting scores of 5, 10, 15, and 18 in four matches.
Not only has he failed to make substantial contributions, but he has also appeared out of sorts at the crease. This raises concerns about whether the weight of leadership responsibilities is affecting his batting form, which is a worrying sign for Pakistan and has left critics pondering about the toll it may be taking on him.
Source: Cricinfo
Another major disappointment for Pakistan in this World Cup has been all-rounder Shadab Khan. While he has not had many opportunities with the bat, it’s his performance in bowling that raises significant concerns. The leg-spinner has lacked the usual flair and precision in his bowling, managing to secure only two wickets in three matches. Additionally, he has been on the expensive side. Given his struggles, it came as no surprise that Shadab was omitted from the game against Australia, underscoring the extent of his current challenges.
Overreliance on Mohammad Rizwan in Batting
In the batting department, Mohammad Rizwan has emerged as the cornerstone of Pakistan’s performance. His remarkable consistency with the bat has been a shining light for the team.
Following the clash between Australia and Pakistan, Rizwan emerged as the leading run-scorer in the 2023 World Cup, accumulating an impressive 294 runs in four innings. His average of 98 and a strike rate of 96.39 underscore his impactful contributions. Alongside a century and a half-century, Rizwan has notched up two 40s, showcasing his versatility and reliability.
Source: Cricinfo
While some other Pakistani batters have made noteworthy contributions, they have not quite reached the level desired by the team. Opener Abdullah Shafique stands as the only other player from the Pakistani squad among the top 10 leading run-scorers in the 2023 World Cup. He has gathered 197 runs from three matches. Saud Shakeel has managed 135 runs from four innings, while Imam-ul-Haq and Babar have accumulated 133 and 83 runs respectively. Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad Nawaz have scored 61 and 57 runs respectively.
For Pakistan to secure a spot in the top four of the 2023 World Cup after the league stage, they will need more substantial contributions from their entire batting lineup. Rizwan’s performances, though outstanding, should be complemented by a collective effort from the team’s batters.
Pakistan’s Bowling and Fielding Woes
Pakistan’s performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup has been marred by lacklustre bowling and fielding. This inconsistency has proved costly in their recent matches.
Left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi displayed a remarkable comeback with a five-wicket haul against Australia. In contrast, Haris Rauf has struggled significantly in this World Cup. His performance against India, where he conceded 43 runs in just six overs without claiming a wicket, was particularly disappointing. Against Australia, Rauf faced a tough challenge from Warner and Marsh, conceding 83 runs for three wickets in eight overs.
Source: Cricinfo
In terms of leading wicket-takers in the 2023 World Cup, Afridi has secured an impressive nine scalps from four innings. Rauf, on the other hand, has managed to pick up eight wickets but at a high economy rate of 7.06. Hasan Ali, although claiming seven wickets, has been inconsistent. Shadab and Nawaz have struggled, only managing to secure two wickets, showing a lack of threat in their bowling.
Pakistan’s fielding has also been a cause for concern. The dropped catch by Usama Mir off Warner’s bat in the match against Australia was a straightforward opportunity. Unfortunately, it led to a turning point in the game.
Source: X (formerly Twitter)
Overall, Pakistan’s ground fielding has been subpar, falling below international standards. It is crucial for them to improve in all departments before their upcoming match against Afghanistan. A strong performance in this match is vital for their chances of making it to the semi-finals of the 2023 World Cup.

Netherlands’ Sybrand Engelbrecht and Logan van Beek set a remarkable milestone in World Cup history during their clash against Sri Lanka on Saturday (October 21) in Lucknow.
Their extraordinary 130-run partnership for the seventh wicket is now the highest ever recorded for that wicket in World Cup matches.
Previously, the record was held by Team India cricketers MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja, who put on a formidable 116-run stand during the semi-final of the 2019 World Cup against New Zealand. This partnership had given hope to millions of Indians after the top order struggled in the chase. Unfortunately, the duo fell short, resulting in India’s heart-wrenching 18-run loss and exit from the tournament.
In a strikingly similar turn of events, the Netherlands found themselves in a tough situation, but this time during their batting innings. After choosing to bat first, they slumped to 91/6 in 21.2 overs, facing the imminent threat of an early collapse.
Source: Cricinfo
Sybrand Engelbrecht and Logan van Beek, however, emerged as the saviours, steadying the ship and forging a courageous 130-run partnership for the 7th wicket, ultimately steering their team to a respectable total.
Nonetheless, Sri Lanka’s Sadeera Samarawickrama emerged as the hero with an unbeaten 91, while Dilshan Madushanka and Kasun Rajitha took four wickets each, propelling Sri Lanka to a hard-fought five-wicket victory over the Netherlands.
Chasing a target of 263, Sri Lanka secured the win with five wickets in hand and 10 balls to spare, marking their inaugural success in the ICC World Cup 2023.

Pakistani show host-turned-actor and prolific producer Fahad Mustafa recently gave his two cents on Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), a regulatory body with which he’s had plenty of bittersweet experiences.
PEMRA has frequently made headlines, particularly when popular movies are set for release, or when it takes action against select journalists or television dramas, such as the controversial “Hadsa,” for potentially damaging the country’s image.
In conversation with another rapper-turned-actor and show host Ahmad Ali Butt, Fahad Mustafa advocated for PEMRA’s authenticity and affirmed that if the said regulatory body is warning you about something, they most certainly are right.
“I give PEMRA credit for acknowledging the best, and they want the best to acknowledge them back. It’s just that,” Fahad said during his appearance on Excuse Me with Ahmad Ali Butt.
Furthermore, the Jeeto Pakistan star defended PEMRA’s stance for not taking action on many objectionable situations, stating that the situation must not be worth addressing.
The actor also justified why popular releases and bans from the media watchdog often end up hand-in-hand.
“If they’re trying to be in the limelight, then let them be,” Fahad added.
Before we go on with details, here’s the full interview!
Tall claims in Pakistan film industry:
Shifting the discussion towards the Pakistani film industry, Fahad Mustafa touched on filmmakers who sometimes overcommit to the concept and feel of a movie before its production. While not singling out any individuals, he candidly discussed the state of Lollywood films without explicitly naming names.
“Films can’t do good business in this country [Pakistan],” the Na Maloom Afraad star asserted.
While his commitment to method acting has been evident throughout his projects, he spoke most fondly of his experience with Na Maloom Afraad.
“I had a rebirth with Na Maloom Afraad,” Fahad said, adding that he was in his worst condition in his first few films. But that also served the purpose of casting me for the role.
“At one point, people even called me ghareebon ka hero [hero of the underprivileged].” In retrospect, Fahad acknowledged that this was precisely the image he had sought to convey.
The conversation between Fahad Mustafa and Ahmed Ali Butt was not limited to professional insights, with Ahmed Ali Butt prodding Fahad about his past crushes.
Australia demonstrated a dominant performance against Pakistan during the ICC World Cup 2023 match in Bengaluru. Openers David Warner and Mitchell Marsh showcased outstanding batting prowess, both achieving centuries and setting a formidable foundation for their team at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Warner displayed exceptional form, securing his 21st ODI century in just 85 balls, adorned with seven fours and six sixes. Meanwhile, Marsh celebrated his ton on his 32nd birthday, reaching the milestone in 100 deliveries, including 10 fours and six sixes.
Despite a slight early setback, where Warner was dropped by Usama Mir off Shaheen Shah Afridi when he had only made 10 runs, both openers continued to build an imposing partnership. They amassed a total of 259 runs for the first wicket, setting a new record for Australia’s highest-ever opening stand in World Cup cricket.
Source: Cricinfo
This remarkable feat marked the first instance of Pakistan conceding a partnership of more than 200 runs in World Cup history. Notably, it also stood as Australia’s second-highest partnership for any wicket, underscoring their exceptional teamwork.
Warner’s individual score of 163 further etched its place in history as the highest ever against Pakistan in World Cup cricket, surpassing Andrew Symonds’ 143 in 2003. Additionally, Australia became the team with the highest runs scored in an innings against Pakistan in the tournament’s history, surpassing Sri Lanka’s 344-run total earlier in the ongoing event in Hyderabad.

Their combined efforts led to an impressive 194-run partnership for the first wicket. Social Media is full of platforms that offer the user hours and hours of engagement. When watching Instagram reels, people don’t realize when an hour just goes by. Aspects of social media are intriguing to the user and everyone has their own preference of platform. That said, WhatsApp is an application that everyone uses. Anyone who has a smartphone and communicates with their friends or family uses WhatsApp. The application is coming out with new updates every month, every other week.
That said, it seems a new update is on the way! According to sources, WhatsApp is introducing a feature that lets the user send ‘view-once’ voice messages. Yes, after the user has listened to that message, it is going to self-destruct. However, when we mean self-destruct, we do not mean like the messages in the Mission Impossible Movies!

WhatsApp View Once
WhatsApp has already come up with view-once in terms of videos and images. Media that is sent in this form cannot be saved, replayed, copied or forwarded to anyone else. You can show someone top secret information and have it deleted after viewing once. Of course, this does not stop screen recording applications to capture the view-once message but we assume WhatsApp is working on a system for that too.
Thus, in the latest update, users will be able to send view-once audio messages. They can only be played once and will disappear once they have been played. The messages cannot be rewinded or forwarded. That is it, once the word has been said, it will be deleted. This adds another step in the direction towards security and privacy by WhatsApp. There can be loopholes around this feature too, though.

Using the New Feature
Users can make full utilization of this feature if they are part of the beta testers. Any new features are released in the beta version. The full version of the feature is expected to roll out soon. We have now seen view-once voice messages being released. When are we going to see the release of features like,

A more improved Dark Mode color scheme and UI
That said, let us see what other types of updates the application comes up with in the future. Technology continues to surprise us everyday!
Once the underdog champion, OnePlus has seen its fair share of ups and downs in the smartphone arena. After a somewhat rocky transition under OPPO’s umbrella, the company struggled to regain the trust of its fanbase. However, in a surprising move earlier this year, OnePlus announced its entry into the foldable phone market with the OnePlus Open. Skepticism loomed as OnePlus had faced challenges with fully polished software on its flagship devices in the past. Could they tackle the complexities of a foldable phone? It turns out they could, and they did so exceptionally well.
Designing for the Future
The OnePlus Open is not only a game-changer for OnePlus but also a standout among foldable devices. The device’s design is a testament to OnePlus’ commitment to industrial minimalism, combining metal, glass, and vegan leather to create a unique and visually appealing device. The black glass in the gunmetal grey shell, accented by the vegan leather back, exudes a classic yet modern charm reminiscent of vintage rangefinder cameras.

The oversized camera module, often a point of contention, finds its harmony with the vegan leather, presenting a retro-modern aesthetic. While the camera bump may seem imposing in renders, it’s surprisingly well-balanced in hand, thanks to the clever use of materials.
The OnePlus Open’s Unique Approach
Beyond aesthetics, the OnePlus Open excels in usability. Unlike some of its foldable competitors, it offers the best of both worlds with its 6.31-inch outer screen, featuring a 20.1:9 aspect ratio that feels familiar to users of traditional slab-style phones. This balance between productivity and practicality extends to the internal display, making multitasking a breeze.
The device’s innovation extends to its matte screen guard, a simple yet ingenious solution to the common issues of fingerprints, glare, and creases faced by foldable phones. The matte screen protector enhances outdoor visibility, reduces smudges, and even conceals the central crease.
The Flexion Hinge Technology
OnePlus also chose to adopt OPPO’s Flexion Hinge technology, addressing one of the major concerns with foldable phones—the crease. The hinge system ensures the crease is barely felt and seldom visible, even when viewed head-on. It offers stability at various angles, allowing users to explore unique configurations for different use cases.

Moreover, the OnePlus Open is noticeably slimmer and lighter than some of its competitors, making it comfortable to hold and carry. The two-millimeter difference may not seem substantial on paper, but it significantly enhances the phone’s overall feel and user experience.
The OnePlus Open is a remarkable entry into the foldable phone market and signifies a resurgence for OnePlus. It not only meets the high design standards that OnePlus fans have come to expect but also excels in terms of usability and innovation. With its unique approach to aesthetics, usability, and materials, the OnePlus Open has undoubtedly raised the bar for foldable devices and sets a new standard for the industry. This device serves as a testament to OnePlus’ commitment to delivering top-notch products and winning back the trust of its dedicated fanbase.
