The fashion industry is now actively campaigning to break the cycle of unrealistic beauty standards. Plastic surgery goes against the tide.
While it may be tempting to opt for quick fixes at the plastic surgeon’s, it isn’t sustainable for the masses. As if glutathione wasn’t enough to fuel discrimination and insecurities related to natural complexions, a variety of procedures have gotten quite popular, including facelifts, brow/forehead lifts, eyelid lifts, hair replacement surgery, nose reshaping, chin, cheek, or jaw reshaping via facial implants, lip and breast augmentation, breast lift, and liposuction. This makes it an emotionally challenging decision, not only to undergo but also to endorse.

During her weekly briefing, the Foreign Office spokesperson revealed that Pakistan has been in communication with India regarding visa issuance for cricket fans. She expressed hope that Pakistani supporters would be granted the necessary visas for the World Cup 2023.

Lahore: October 05, 2023: A survey among members of ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) sees a range of key organisational benefits in adopting digital technologies including flexibility/adaptability, quality of products and services, sustainability performance, transparency and regulatory compliance (72%).
However, The Digital Horizons survey – which garnered 1,074 responses from ACCA members across the globe – noted that financial professionals still see the main benefit of technology as offering efficiency/process improvements: 52% ranked efficiency, internal process optimisation or cost savings in their top three objectives when adopting a new technology.
Only 18% included competition-related reasons, such as responding to customer demands, enhancing market insights, introducing 24/7 capabilities, or maintaining competitive advantage.
Cost remains the top challenge when adopting technology, but organisational culture also remains a critical factor in successful adoption.
The survey did see a more mixed response to how technology supports personal objectives. Productivity (cited by 85% of respondents), collaboration (76%) and career development (65%) were all strong but fears over job security were apparent, only 30% saying technology was supportive in that respect. The impact on career development was notably positive, with many roundtable discussions revolving around access to learning and more flexible opportunities.
Leadership emerged as a key theme in both the survey and the roundtables. Alistair Brisbourne, head of technology research ACCA, said: ‘Leadership is generally considered to be a cornerstone of successful innovation and yet it can seem quite vague as a concept when applied to digital transformation. At its core, embracing digital leadership means fostering a culture of innovation, encouraging continuous learning, and being open to change.
‘When we analyse the findings, it is clear that leadership is a fundamental trait of the most innovative organisations, and this tends to coincide with greater individual confidence amongst employees. Digital leaders inspire the confidence to embrace new tools and methodologies, such as AI and advanced analytics, which can dramatically transform processes.’
ACCA members show a high level of trust in artificial intelligence (AI). 70% agreed with the statement ‘AI can increase the amount of time I have to focus on business-critical tasks’ – only 9% disagreed, with 15% neutral. They were less sure of the idea of AI performing business critical tasks (50% agreeing, 21% and 22% disagreeing or neutral) but even so the numbers reflected a sense of optimism.
Although just under one-fifth report the implementation of AI within their organisation, and another 8% are trialling initiatives, there are clearly great aspirations and a considerable opportunity to leverage these new capabilities.
Digital Horizons underlines the idea that the finance profession is well-situated to benefit from these technologies but realising their potential could require a mindset shift – thinking beyond mere efficiency gains towards a deeper understanding of value – as well as an adaptation of skills and practices.
Brisbourne said: ‘To a significant extent, AI is still thought about in terms of a gradual evolution of existing processes. From this perspective, the potential of AI is primarily in making the industry more efficient rather than thinking about how it could be fundamental to driving value related to new and existing demands.’

Karachi, 6 October 2023: Standard Chartered Bank announced the launch of the sixth edition of the Standard Chartered Karachi United Youth League, a flagship community programme aimed at promoting sports amongst children.
The objective of the SC KU Youth League is to provide a platform for football teams from across the underserved areas of Karachi to come together, break barriers and inculcate the spirit and culture of sport and competition amongst children of the community. The Bank has been sponsoring this league since 2017, supporting over 5000 children through sports.
This year’s league will see 1200+ boys compete in the age categories: Under 10 years, Under 12 years, Under 14 years and Under 16 years including a Government School competition as well. The format is that of a group system from which the top teams qualify directly for the quarter-finals and beyond. This year the League will also witness an increase in the participation of girls through a Girls tournament involving 180 girls.
A total of 206 matches will be played in six different locations including Khyber Muslim Ground Baldia Town, Old Golimar Football Ground, Jam Eleven Ground Malir, Karachi United Clifton and Kakari Ground Lyari which promises to attract football fans from all over Karachi.

Each year the league brings together children from across different communities and backgrounds onto a level playing field through friendly competition. The Review
Let’s break down the song while I listen to Call’s Badal Do Zamane Ko because I need therapy after going through the torture of this new anthem, and Junaid Khan’s heavenly voice is the only therapy I can afford.
First and foremost, maybe it’s just me, and you can have your opinion about the song being awesome, and I am happy for you, but I didn’t get a single word of the lyrics when I heard it for the first time or the second. There is just too much going on from the first frame of the video, and it gets too overwhelming too quickly. There is a shot of a couch burning (done bazillions of times), a random Pepsi fridge in the desert, a ball on fire falling from the sky, and Shadab Khan, our all-rounder who is constantly underperforming, is near SATURN for no apparent reason. WHAT is this video, and who approved it?
I get the musical realm is changing, and youngsters these days enjoy modern music, but as a GenZ myself, I don’t get it. Pepsi always promotes young talent but this song is simply wasted potential and talent. QB, the woman I have immense love for, is WASTED; they could’ve used her strong vocals so much better.
There is no storytelling, hype, or JAZBA; it looks like any other modern music video. Someone I know mentioned, “Acchha hai gaana aesa hai warna faltu mein puray world cup k liye enthusiasm build hojata or end mein haar jayenge.”
Now, the question is, why is Pepsi hell-bent on ruining its brand image? They changed their iconic blue to green for the World Cup. The new packaging looks like 7up has come out with their black fizzy drink. In my opinion, the drink manufacturer is not making wise decisions. However, I get they are doing what the masses want, and my opinion doesn’t matter.
The WHYs
Coming back to the song, I have a few WHYs that I need answers for.
1st Why: Why is the Shaheen bigger than Shaheen, and why do they have to be on a mountain?
2nd Why: Why is there a cat, and why is it bigger than the Minar-e-Pakistan? Please note that I am not complaining; the cat is the only good thing about the song.
3rd Why: Why is the ball flying so much – itna uregi tou khelenge kaise?
4th Why: Why do we have an obsession with the Western style of rap and music?
5th Why: Why did Pepsi approve of this?

Indian opening batter Shubman Gill is doubtful to participate in India’s inaugural match of the 2023 ODI World Cup against Australia on October 8 in Chennai due to a fever.
Gill was absent from India’s training sessions at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday and Thursday. The team remains optimistic, believing it could be a passing flu.
According to an official update from the BCCI, “He is under the weather. The medical team is closely monitoring him. We are hoping he gets better soon.”
