There should be no equivocation on such a serious issue and women should get out from their petty thinking, showing some spunk to speak blatantly about the population control plight.

Certainly, Mathira’s role in this ad could not be weed out who has just portrayed a character of a woman who is audacious, empowered and don’t think about “LOG KIYA KAHENGE” to educate the people of Pakistan.

Citizens will not be allowed to travel on foot. Only ticket-holders will be allowed to bring their vehicles into the parking area.

Alibaba in Talks to Acquire Daraz.pk: Bloomberg!

According to a report by Bloomberg, Alibaba Group is in talks to acquire one of Pakistan’s largest e-commerce platforms, Daraz.pk.

The report further reveals that the group is currently in early price negotiations with Rocket Internet.

Daraz is a subsidiary of Rocket Internet, which is German based. The platform has caught the attention of the Chinese officials sometime back as they encouraged and praised how fast the country was adapting to the trend and concept of e-commerce.

Not to forget, Pakistan is one of the fastest growing markets, when it comes to e-commerce.

The group is interested in tapping into the Pakistani market to see if there is any potential for them to grow in a new market.

China is already investing in the country via China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, which is a project both countries have started and are working on to improve their relationship with one another.

As of now, Pakistan has 30 million active Internet users, and brands are redoubling their attention to e-commerce, Daraz said in a statement last month.

We are yet to see where this interesting acquisition heads to in the near future.

Shahid Masood’s T.V Show Banned for Three Months

In its latest move, Supreme Court has imposed a three-month ban on Dr. Shahid Masood.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar was hearing a suo motu case on the anchor’s allegations regarding the barbaric rape and murder of the 7-year-old Zainab.

Banning his ‘Live With Dr. Shahid Masood’ program broadcasted by News One, the CJP remarked that the bench would not sentence him to death as proposed by the anchor himself in his show.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar stated:

“It seems Dr. Shahid Masood does not realize the importance of the elder’s advice as he ridiculed my court officer on the second (after the hearing)”

Eventually, Shahid showed remorse for his mistake and issued an unconditional apology.

CJ Nisar said:

“If you admit your mistake, then, we should ban your television program for three months”

Back in January, Dr. Masood had alleged that the criminal had ties with an influential figure and was part of an international ring. The chief justice had taken notice of the claims and sought a subsequent inquiry by a JIT.

However, the JIT did not find any authenticity to Dr. Masood’s claims.

In a hearing on March 10, Dr. Shahid said that the claims he leveled regarding Zainab murder case were ’emotional dialogues’.

Pakistan Super League is still not over folks! The cricket league’s 3rd edition’s eliminators are to be held today and tomorrow in Lahore, followed by a grand finale in Karachi at National Stadium on 25th March.

In order to ensure everything goes according to plan, PCB has issued a security protocol, according to which Shahrah-e-Faisal and Karsaz will remain closed from 25th March at 6:00 am and will continue till 26th March 6:00 a.m (24 hours).

However, it looks like PCB has not yet learned from its mistakes of pricing them too high. Out of 27,000 seats, 3,500 will remain empty as the citizens did not purchase tickets worth Rs 4,000 and Rs 6,000.

The courier company which was the official distributors of the tickets has returned all unsold tickets to PCB.

The Eliminator rounds will be played today and tomorrow and the final will be played on the 25th in Karachi at National Stadium.

Islamabad United has already qualified to play the final in Karachi, whereas the upcoming playoffs will decide the second finalist.

At least five foreign commentators, including Alan Wilkins, Ramiz Raja, Bazid Khan, Dareen Ganga and Michael Slater, will come to Pakistan for the playoffs and the final.

Damien Fleming and Danny Morrison, however, will not be commentating during the semi-finals and the final matches due to family commitments.

Facebook Shares Fall After Reports of Data Misuse

Facebook shares plunged Monday as the social media giant was pounded by criticism at home and abroad over revelations that a firm working for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign harvested and misused data on 50 million members.

Calls for investigations came on both sides of the Atlantic after Facebook responded to explosive reports of misuse of its data by suspending the account of Cambridge Analytica, a British firm hired by Trump’s 2016 campaign.

Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar and Republican John Kennedy called for Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg to appear before Congress, along with Google and Twitter’s CEOs.

The lawmakers said the companies “have amassed unprecedented amounts of personal data” and that the lack of oversight “raises concerns about the integrity of American elections as well as privacy rights.”

Facebook’s chief of security Alex Stamos said his role has shifted to focus on emerging risks and election security at the global social network.

Stamos revealed the change after The New York Times reported that he was leaving Facebook in the wake of internal clashes over how to deal with the platform being used to spread misinformation.

“Despite the rumors, I’m still fully engaged with my work at Facebook,” Stamos said in a message posted on his verified Twitter account.

“It’s true that my role did change. I’m currently spending more time exploring emerging security risks and working on election security.”

Stamos advocated investigating and revealing manipulation of news at the social network by Russian entities, to the chagrin of other top executives, the Times reported, citing unnamed current and former employees.

– Profiles weaponized? –

Senator Ron Wyden asked Facebook to provide more information on what he called a “troubling” misuse of private data that could have been used to sway voters.

Wyden said he wants to know how Cambridge Analytica used Facebook tools “to weaponize detailed psychological profiles against tens of millions of Americans.”

In Europe, officials voiced similar outrage.

Vera Jourova, the European commissioner for justice, consumers and gender equality, called the revelations “horrifying, if confirmed,” and vowed to address concerns in the United States this week.

According to a joint investigation by The New York Times and Britain’s Observer, Cambridge Analytica was able to create psychological profiles on 50 million Facebook users through the use of a personality prediction app that was downloaded by 270,000 people, but also scooped up data from friends.

Cambridge Analytica denied misusing Facebook data for the Trump campaign.

Elizabeth Denham, Britain’s Information Commissioner who regulates the sector in the country, announced her office would seek a court warrant on Tuesday to search Cambridge Analytica’s computer servers.

She said the company had been “uncooperative” to requests for access to its records and missed a Monday deadline stipulated.

Meanwhile, Facebook said it has hired a digital forensics firm to examine how the data leak occurred and to ensure that any data collected had been destroyed.

Facebook shares skidded 6.8 percent by the close of the Nasdaq amid concerns about pressure for new regulations that could hurt its business model.

Shares slipped another percent or so to $170 in after-market trades.

– ‘Self-regulation not working’ –

Jennifer Grygiel, a Syracuse University professor who studies social media, said the disclosures will increase pressure to regulate Facebook and other social media firms, already under scrutiny for allowing disinformation from Russian-directed sources to propagate.

“Self-regulation is not working,” Grygiel said.

Daniel Kreiss, a professor of media and communications at the University of North Carolina, said Facebook failed to live up to its responsibilities on election ads.

“The fact that Facebook seems to make no distinction between selling sneakers and selling a presidential platform is a deep problem,” Kreiss said.

Brian Wieser at Pivotal Research maintained that the revelations highlight “systemic problems at Facebook,” but that they won’t immediately impact the social network’s revenues.

David Carroll, a media professor at the Parsons School of Design, said Facebook and others will soon be forced to live with new privacy rules such as those set to take effect in the European Union.

“Facebook and Google will have to ask users a lot more permission to track them,” Carroll said. “Most people are going to say no, so I think it’s going to have a huge impact on these companies.”

Carroll has filed a legal action in Britain calling on Cambridge Analytica to disclose what data was gathered and used on him.

An undercover investigation of Cambridge Analytica by Britain’s Channel 4 said executives boasted they could entrap politicians in compromising situations with bribes and Ukrainian sex workers and spread misinformation online.

The executives claimed to have worked in more 200 elections across the world, including Argentina, the Czech Republic, India, Kenya, and Nigeria.

The British firm said it “strongly denies” the claims from Channel 4 as well as reports on the misuse of Facebook data.

“Facebook data was not used by Cambridge Analytica as part of the services it provided to the Donald Trump presidential campaign,” a statement read
