Elon Musk just removed the iconic and legendary Twitter blue bird logo. He instead replaced it with a meme of cryptocurrency. The Doge dog meme now appears on the top left corner when you open Twitter. Elon Musk confirmed the update while posting a conversation and responding “as promised”. The new logo is now the Shiba Inu dog meme, which is also the logo of the Dogecoin cryptocurrency. However, the change to Doge is only visible on the web version of Twitter and not on the Twitter app yet.

The “Doge” is a viral meme that shows a Shiba Inu dog that became globally popular on the Internet in 2013. Basically, a Doge is a picture of a Shiba Inu dog with silly captions that capture the Doge’s thoughts at that moment. But, because the Shiba Inu dog is not fluent in the English language, these captions are normally grammatically incorrect, which in itself, adds to the humor of the meme. Now, funnily it is also the Twitter logo.

As soon as the changes were made, Twitter users went into a frenzy and all that could be seen were memes. Here have a look.

Fortunately, the Doge coins sale went up massively after the logo was changed. Dogecoin was a cryptocurrency created by software engineers Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer. It was first decided to create a payment system as a “joke”, making fun of the wild speculation in cryptocurrencies at the time. However now it is considered both the first “meme coin”, and, more specifically, the first “dog coin”.
