The coronavirus pandemic has spread across the world, due to the dire situation countries have locked down in order to stop the virus from spreading further. With the death toll rising, an air of depression and gloom hangs in the air and people are generally feeling quite anxious and lost.

To beat these gloomy and depressive feelings and to reflect on the positive outcomes, actor Adnan Malik has started off a trend on Twitter with the hashtag ‘CoronaSilverLinings’. He urges people to share the good things that came out from this time spent at home and due to this pandemic. He believes it is time to ‘slow down’ and ‘re-evaluate our choices.’

Given that we need reasons to be cheerful and that one definition of a corona, listed in the dictionary is a silver lining, this is a great effort made by Adnan Malik to cheer up his fans and add some positivity during this time.

Nissan Officially Bids Farewell to the Datsun Brand!

In July 2019, a report came forth which claimed that Nissan is deciding to pull the plug on its low-cost Datsun lineup.

Now, it has become official, Nissan has decided to discontinue the Datsun brand in Indonesia.

As a part of its crisis recovery plan, Nissan will not be producing economy sector cars under the Datsun name anymore.

Now that Datsun has been discontinued in Indonesia, there is an almost next to impossible chance of the Datsun Go, Go Plus and Go-Cross to make their debut in Pakistan.

Datsun had been planning to enter Pakistan’s automotive markets via the Ghandhara Nissan umbrella.

But even after receiving the Brownfield Status by the Government of Pakistan under Auto Policy 2016-21, the company failed to resurrect its plant hence did not introduce a single-vehicle.

October 2019: The automotive manufacturer is expected to consider ending other nonprofitable products and close a number of assembly lines worldwide to boost their profits by cutting operation costs.

Internally known as the performance recovery plan Nissan will try to break the strategy under ousted leader Carlos Ghosn.

We’re trying to clean up what had happened in the past. Under Ghosn, Nissan sought to meet sales objectives at any cost, including ‘practically giving away cars’ to fleet customers.

On the other hand, to deal with plunging markets around the world, Nissan has also decided to cut 12,500 employees (9%) from its global taskforce.

Furthermore, earlier this month Ghandhara Nissan shared that it will be reviewing its plans to launch Datsun vehicles in Pakistan because of the current economic situations of the country.

Renault also had a similar stance when considering to enter Pakistan due to the economy.

Pakistan Govt Launches “WhatsApp Corona Helpline” To Combat Misinformation

Pakistan’s government launches “Whatsapp Corona Helpline” to combat misinformation. Whatsapp users across Pakistan can now reach out to health ministry for authentic information during the pandemic regarding the virus.

You can contact the helpline at +923001111166 for credible information, labs that are testing for the virus, awareness resources, and the latest statistics.

Citizens are requested to save this number and start a conversation by saying ‘Hi’. They can choose a question from FAQ or type their query. In response, they will most likely receive a message with a video, link, or text to answer their query.

To make the service accessible, the government has prepared the portal in 6 languages including Punjabi, Sindhi, Pashto, Balochi, Kashmiri, and Urdu. 

Speaking of statistics, the service follows the National Institute of Health’s 10 updates that confirm the number of cases in region/countrywide.

Khurram Jamali, Advisor to Digital Pakistan head Tania Aidrus says, “WhatsApp is one platform where most conversations take place in the country. With the helpline, we aim to put maximum people at ease by letting them self-assess Covid risks and hence also lessen the burden on our health infrastructure.”

He added, “The aim is to compile confirmed tests of Covid-19 from labs across the country in one place that is accessible to the public.”

The service is backed up by artificial intelligence that answers FAQ’s and also recommends testing based on questions such as “do you have a fever above 100?”, “do you have a cough?”, “have you traveled in the last 14 days?” or if “you have pre-existing conditions”.

The latest trend that has taken over Twitter is #WhenCoronaVirusIsOver and it’s all about users lighting up the social sphere with all their hopes, dreams and memes they intend to live out once we combat the spread of the virus.

This hashtag is trending around the globe and people are penning their thoughts down saying they would play their roles in taking care of the planet while others eagerly wait to actually chill with their friends.

Jumping on the bandwagon – host and religious scholar Aamir Liaquat performed an act of kindness to laud the real heroes. He distributed self-cooked biryani to police and rangers near his residence.

Doctors, nurses, medical staff, police, and rangers are playing the most crucial role right now. They are risking their lives every day to assure the security of millions of families. They are on their duty day and night to halt many from roaming on the roads without any valid reason so others who are staying at home can stay safe.

Pakistan is currently in crisis. We are not financially secured to cure thousands of patients all at once. It’s no surprise that COVID 19 is spreading like a wildfire throughout the globe and the sole way to control it is to stay in isolation. We as citizens of Pakistan must acknowledge and appreciate all the doctors, paramedical staff, police, and rangers for doing a phenomenal job in the time of crisis.

The novel Coronavirus has caused massive chaos and uncertainty throughout the country, with over 1664 cases in Pakistan, the situation is getting dire as the days go by. During this difficult time, the government has imposed a lockdown where all stores, businesses, schools and offices will remain closed in order to curb the spread of the virus.

The economic situation hangs in the air and there is not much one can do to get their incomes flowing like before since the public remains indoors. While most clothing brands are offering online sales, flat 50% off discounts and much more, there are a few Pakistani brands who are doing the nobel thing and instead of promoting their own products are asking their customers to use that money efficiently, where it is needed the most.

Noor Jahan Collection urges its clients to save money and help the needy instead of buying their clothes.

Another Pakistani clothing brand doing the same is Numan Sulman who are saying,

“Don’t buy our clothes, save that money and help others.”

Imran Khan Approves Purposed System For ‘Coronavirus Relief Tiger Force’

On Saturday, Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired a meeting to discuss the mechanism for “Coronavirus Relief Tiger Force” that will be adopted in the coming days.

The meeting was attended by PM’s principal secretary, Azam Khan, Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Usman Dar, Shahzad Akber and others.

Coronavirus Relief Tiger Force is a volunteer program that will ensure that certain important activities are carried out during the pandemic.

Healthy youngsters (above 18) are encouraged to register for the force. They will be taking part in managing affairs in rural and urban quarantine centers.

The authorities decided, “They will also take care of patients quarantined at their homes along with providing guidelines to the masses in hospitals and public places.”

“The tiger force members will be briefed on a daily basis from government officials on their responsibilities,” the meeting decided.

Besides that, the force will record data, help police in lockdown, control hoarding, and take part in burial duties if the situation gets out of hands.

It is pertinent to mention here that the number of deaths from the novel coronavirus rose to 28 as of 30th March, according to Dawn.com while 1664 people have been affected by novel coronavirus countrywide.

There are 638 cases in Punjab, 508 cases in Sindh, 192 in KPK, and 141 in Balochistan.

One such manufacturer which has produced one after the other masterpieces is none other than Lexus.

The luxury brand has introduced the world’s first tattooed car – Lexus UX! The one-of-a-kind compact SUV has been designed and created by London tattoo artist Claudia De Sabe.

In order to create something no one has ever seen before on cars, Claudia used a Dremel tool (instead of a needle) she also produced a sweeping design featuring koi carp (motif familiar from Japanese art) along the entire length of the vehicle.

It took 5 liters of high-quality paint to finish this marvelous artwork. After the car was drilled, it was completely painted by hand.

A gold leaf was used as the finishing touch to create highlights and a 3D popping effect. Last but not the least, this priceless ride was then coated with a lacquer clear coat for protection.

The daughter then saves the day by telling her mom to make Shoop Noodles while she goes get the things for her on the bike. Incredible, isn’t it?

The mother gives her a puzzled look as these things are often purchased by the males of the house but it seems like this isn’t the case anymore. The ad beautifully and subtly conveys the message of defying social stereotypes which have indeed become very important.

Zahid Ahmed Shares Valuable Quarantine Tips With His Fans!

Ishq Zahe Naseeb’s Zahid Ahmed took it to his Instagram to share valuable tips for quarantine with his followers.

The entire world is affected by the deadly coronavirus and people are advised to stay home and self-quarantine if they have come across someone who has been tested positive for the virus.

In other cases, if you’re someone who has returned back from abroad, then you must also self-quarantine for up to 14 days.

  1. To pray 5 times a day as there is no more excuse to miss a prayer
  2. Recite smaller portions of the holy book, the “Quran” every day!
  3. Gain more knowledge about “Hadith” by reading as many books as you can as this is the best time to reflect.
  4. Watch a cartoon with your children for at least one hour. He emphasized to enjoy this time with your children and involve in the discussion regarding it.
  5. Play productive indoor games with your kids.
  6. Try to sit together with your family and enjoy all the meals of the day together.

Ahmed ends his message with a short note that said, “End your day with joy in your heart that you’ve fulfilled your lord’s obligation while spending quality time with your family.”

Karachi Morgues Shut Doors Amid COVID-19 Fears!

Morgues all across the city closed doors on Sunday after it was suspected that 2 bodies which had been brought by Edhi were of those who had passed from the novel CoronaVirus.

Helpers and administrations had shut down the morgues over the fear that the virus may be contracted from the bodies of the departed individuals.

“The morgues have been closed over fears that the coronavirus will spread from them,” said a city administration official.

Moreover, a representative from Edhi home in Sohrab Goth spoke to Geo News and confirmed that orders of coffins and caskets had been suspended over the increasing fears.

On the other hand, Ramzan Chhipa said that his organization had shut down temporarily as per the government’s lockdown instructions.

“We don’t want the virus to be transmitted to a volunteer and from him, to spread to the rest of the city,” he said.

Unfortunately, the closing of the morgues has created a lot of trouble for those who are looking for mortuaries across the City of Lights. Even grave-diggers have disappeared from graveyards.

“The problem of grave-diggers not being found these days is a problem,” admitted the director of graveyards.

Citizens are facing a hard time trying to have their beloved buried as the fear of COVID-19 keeps growing. There are now more than 1500 active cases in Pakistan overall with 9 deceased.

Sindh Government Orders Disbursement Of Salaries Among Factory Workers By 31st March

As companies are now downsizing amid the coronavirus outbreak, many individuals have lost their jobs. As a few companies have fired their employees or have cut down their salaries amid this crisis, it has indeed wreaked havoc and has many labourers affected.

Keeping in mind the factory workers who work day and night to earn their salaries, on Sunday, the Sindh government has issued a notice for factories and other private organizations in the province to give out salaries to their employees by March 31, as reported by ARY News.

Moreover, Section 3 of the Sindh Payment of Wages Act, 2015 has been advised by the Labour and Human Resources Department, which says “all Employers/Owners/Occupiers of the establishments and responsible persons” to give out salaries to all kinds of workers in the factories.

Adding on to this, the Labour and Human Resources Department has notified the establishment of “Emergency Cell” to address the grievances/issues of employees.

Sindh Government To Pay Daily Wage Labourers Amid Coronavirus Through Mobile Wallet App

As reported by Samaa TV, Sindh Government will be paying daily wage laborers amid lockdown of the province due to coronavirus. Apparently, the money will be transferred through a mobile application.

There are 1613 confirmed coronavirus cases in Pakistan from which 28 have recovered while 19 have died. Sindh has a total number of 502 cases that confirms Dawn. (30th March)

The amount will be issued to the laborers against their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) number. They can collect the amount by presenting their ID and their mobile phones to respective authorities.

For laborers who don’t have an ID, the Sindh government has requested NADRA, the FIA, FBR, and State Bank to help verify these individuals.

  1. Anybody who has traveled abroad except for Hajj or pilgrimage is not entitled to this money.

2. Anybody who has more than RS. 10,000 in their banks won’t be eligible either.

So every industry is helping to make medical materials like van dilators or hazmat suits. Recently, the famous designer of Pakistan Asim Jofa announced that he and his team will prepare free of cost hazmat suit for the doctors.

 

The designer mentioned  “let’s fight back! Asim Jofa and the team have taken an initiative to contribute to society and play our part in helping our front liners to win this fight against coronavirus. We have started working on stitching protective gear for doctors and medical staff to wear for their safety. Please share and tag and support us in this noble cause. We appreciate all that our front liners are doing and stand by them in this time of need.”

The renowned designer has taken another route to contribute to all doctors amid COVID 19 which is something that worth taking note of. In the below video, he introduces the protective hazmat suit and writes, “Gearing up! Asim Jofa and the team have come up with this first fabric prototype of a medical protective suit. At this testing time, we are together with our caregivers. A small token of our love and respect for the ones who are risking their lives to save humanity.”

Here are the simple steps of a having a 3D animal at your desired spot:

  1. Google search for an animal such as “giant panda” on your smartphone.

2. Then you need to scroll until you find a new little box that says “Meet a life-sized giant panda up close.”

3. The feature is located underneath the images and brief Wikipedia description which appears at the top of the search.

Despite the fact that Pakistan’s automotive sector has been going through a very hard time, there were some automotive brands that had better days compared to several others.

This fiscal year has also been quite a challenge for everyone as sales have declined by 43.4% during the first 8 months of FY19-20.

The reason behind the drop is the rising car-prices and sky-high interest rates and so far, unfortunately, things do not seem to get any better in the upcoming days with Coronavirus leaving its print on every industry.

Nonetheless, according to data shared by Pakistan Automobile Manufacturers Association (PAMA), some models showed recovery in February 2020 whereas others suffered from a further decline in sales.

Suzuki WagonR had the most sales with 567 units sold in January whereas it sold 699 units in February. The Suzuki Bolan followed with 564 units sold in Jan whereas 719 were sold in February.

Toyota Hilux sold 427 units in Jan whereas it sold 584 in Feb. while the Fortuner remained behind with 150 units sold in Jan whereas it sold 211 in Feb.
