Multinet Is Driving Innovation With Region’s First Open Wi Fi Deployment

Multinet, Pakistan’s business communications company of choice, announced today that it will use Telecom Infra Project’s OpenWiFi technology to power Wi-Fi networks across the country. Customers in the public, hospitality, sports and entertainment, and retail enterprise sectors will benefit from Multinet’s OpenWiFi networks, which will provide seamless high-speed connectivity.

Multinet, well-known in Pakistan for providing cutting-edge telecom solutions, is the region’s first managed service provider to deploy OpenWiFi’s technology stack to provide the general public and customers with seamless, fast, and affordable connectivity.

With the goal of “Connectivity for all,” Multinet has been providing quality public Wi-Fi across Pakistan, covering all major airports, various public places, malls, and recreational areas with its Wi-Fi infrastructure.

“Our single mission is to deliver superior connectivity solutions for Pakistan while also reaching out to the public and masses through our public Wi-Fi initiative,” Adnan H. Zaidi, Chief Operating Officer at Multinet, said. “By using open and disaggregated technology, such as OpenWiFi, we will continue to lead the market with innovation that delivers exceptional service, quality, and reliability for the public, our customers and stakeholders. This will greatly expand our public Wi-Fi footprint and reach while providing superior scalability.”

“OpenWiFi is the perfect solution for Multinet because it offers competitive total cost of ownership (TCO) and eliminates vendor lock-in,” said Sandeep Kohli, Connectivity Technologies and Ecosystems Manager, Meta and member of the TIP Open Optical and OpenWiFi Program Groups. “It also eliminates the need to introduce additional controllers opening new deployment use cases, such as Wi-Fi networks built for the public, hospitality, sports and entertainment and retail segments, not previously addressed due to cost considerations in these markets.”

“Multinet is leading the region in open and disaggregated technology deployments and we’re excited to see how OpenWiFi will benefit Multinet’s customers,” said Kristian Toivo, Executive Director, TIP.

In Picture, from left to right: Mr. Vishal Mathur – (TIP), Mr. Adnan H. Zaidi – (COO Multinet), Mr. Bryan Tan – (Meta)

OpenWiFi is a Wi-Fi architecture based on open source that enables multi-vendor, interoperable Wi-Fi networks. TIP OpenWiFi-based solutions allow service providers, such as Multinet, to seamlessly mix and match access points and controllers from any TIP OpenWiFi compliant manufacturer to create a unified infrastructure, allowing it to easily expand its Wi-Fi footprint while maintaining a robust experience. Because it is open source, it also enables developers to create new applications quickly.

Multinet is deploying Edgecore APs integrated with their ecOpen Cloud Controller technology for their OpenWiFi network and hotspots, which are supported by high-speed optical fibre infrastructure and built in collaboration with a local System Integrator partner in Pakistan, STARCOM Technologies (Pvt) Limited.

Multinet recently announced the deployment of a 3.2 Tbps long-haul network infrastructure using TIP Open Optical and Packet Transport Technologies, demonstrating the company’s commitment to open and agile disaggregated architecture and technologies.

OpenWiFi, which will be launched in 2021, has recently announced commercial deployments in the United States with Boingo Wireless, in India with Spectra, and a trial with the City of Dublin and Virgin Media that complies with the European Commission’s WIFI4EU initiative, which is the European benchmark for public Wi-Fi deployments in Europe.

realme is Leading the Industry with a 240W Smartphone Charging Device Offering Fast Charging Solutions

realme, the world’s fastest-growing smartphone brand, is setting the standard in the industry with a 240W smartphone charging device that provides fast charging solutions for everyone. According to the most recent Counterpoint report, realme is staying true to its ‘Dare to Leap’ motto by being the first in fast-charging innovations. As a young brand, realme is able to push the boundaries even further, becoming the first to introduce a 240W-capable smartphone with the fastest charging power under Type-C standards.

Leap from a Popularizer to an Industry Leader

With the goal of empowering young consumers through cutting-edge technology and design, realme continues to realise and commercialise innovation in fast-charging technology for smartphones. For example, realme was successful in bringing 65W charging technology to the realme X7 in 2020, making fast charging more accessible to everyone. Following an innovative breakthrough with the world’s fastest 150W charging technology for realme GT Neo3 in 2022, realme is developing a 240W charging technology for realme GT3 this year.

Despite being a younger brand, realme plays an important role in making fast charging solutions accessible to all. The smartphone industry has occasionally demanded higher wattages in order to reduce charging time to less than an hour. This results in realme’s innovation of offering fast charging technology in all price ranges.

For the first time, realme is introducing fast charging capabilities in smartphone devices and expects to capture a market-leading 85% sales penetration portfolio with fast charging capability by 2022. realme was also the first OEM to release a 65W capable smartphone, the realme Narzo 20 Pro, in 2020. This follows realme’s long history of introducing cutting-edge technologies to low-cost segments, compelling the smartphone industry to adopt this technology on a large scale.

240W: Industry Highest Charging Standard

During this time, realme ranked second in the mid-high to entry level premium segments for 65W capable smartphones in 2022. This means realme is also providing market-leading technology at higher price points.

The 240W figure represents the industry’s current highest standard of fast charging technology. The realme innovation will also be the world’s fastest 240W charging technology that uses a standard USB Type-C interface.

Fast-charging technology innovation has a significant impact on the overall smartphone industry. Advances in technology, particularly in the smartphone industry, have become a top priority because smartphones can now syndicate various devices with different functions that were previously available separately. With the development of new functions in smartphones, the use of such devices is becoming more intense, resulting in additional battery usage. These issues will be resolved by the presence of a charging technology innovation, such as realme’s.

Consumers are increasingly concerned with saving time while charging their smartphone batteries. Previously, they would plug in their devices for a couple of hours and wait for a full charge. However, there is an increase in content consumption, and consumers prefer to be connected without having to wait for their phones to charge. The increase in power-delivery capabilities has significantly reduced charging time, with more than 100W capable charging technology achieving full battery charge in 20-25 minutes. realme’s latest industry-first 240W power output pushes fast charging to new heights.

Protecting Our Youth: Why Underage Driving Is A Serious Issue in Pakistan

Road safety is a major concern in Pakistan, where hundreds of thousands of accidents occur each year. Many of these incidents involve teenage drivers who are not legally permitted to drive. Underage driving has become a severe problem in Pakistan, with many young individuals putting their lives and the lives of others at danger by driving before they are legally permitted to.

In Pakistan, the legal driving age is 18 years old. Nonetheless, it is not uncommon to see children as young as 12 years old driving vehicles or riding motorbikes on the streets. This is a troubling trend since it endangers their safety as well as the safety of other drivers and pedestrians on the road.

Are parents to blame?

The absence of effective enforcement of traffic regulations is one of the primary causes of underage driving in Pakistan. Many young kids are permitted to drive by their parents, who may not have adequate driving licenses or awareness of road safety. The absence of road safety enforcement and education makes it simpler for young individuals to obtain and operate automobiles without the requisite training or legal papers.

Additionally, among young people, driving a vehicle or motorbike is seen as a mark of prestige and freedom. As a result of this view, there has been an upsurge in the number of young individuals attempting to learn to drive. They frequently disregard the reality that they are endangering their own and others’ lives by driving without a valid license.

The absence of public transport fuels this issue

The absence of public transit is another issue that exacerbates the problem of underage driving in Pakistan. Many young people who need to commute to school or job must rely on motorbikes or other private cars, which forces them to learn to drive at an early age. This is frequently done without sufficient training, which can result in traffic accidents.

Underage driving can have disastrous effects. Inexperienced teenage drivers are more prone to cause traffic accidents that result in damage or death. According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, over 13,000 people die in road accidents in Pakistan each year, with a high proportion of these deaths involving young drivers.

To address the issue of underage driving, both the government and the general population must work together. The government must aggressively enforce traffic regulations, and parents must take responsibility for their children’s safety by ensuring that they do not operate a vehicle until they are legally permitted to do so. Furthermore, more investment in public transit is needed to minimize the number of young people who are compelled to rely on private automobiles to move about.

In conclusion, a lack of appropriate enforcement of traffic regulations and education about road safety has resulted in an increase in the number of young individuals driving without a license, endangering their own and others’ lives. It is time for the government and the general people to take action to protect our young by stopping them from driving before they are legally able to. Not only will this save lives, but it will also foster a safer and more responsible driving culture in Pakistan.

The Mukaab – What Is This Giant Cube That Saudi Arabia Is Working On?

Source: AL-Hamd

Saudi Arabia has been building a gigantic monument in the city of Riyadh, which has sparked considerable debate and conjecture. The construction is known as the Mukaab, and it is a cube-shaped edifice that will be the largest in the world. The Mukaab, with a height of nearly 1,000 meters, will tower above the surrounding terrain, serving as a symbol of the country’s might and influence.

The Mukaab is being constructed as part of the country’s Vision 2030 initiative, which intends to diversify the economy and lessen reliance on oil. The program consists of a number of projects aimed at improving the country’s infrastructure, encouraging tourism, and fostering new businesses. The Mukaab is considered a critical component of this development since it is intended to draw millions of tourists each year and produce considerable cash for the government.

What exactly is the Mukaab?

The Mukaab, at its heart, is a gigantic cube-shaped structure that will serve as a multi-purpose center for religious and cultural events. The structure will hold a mosque, a conference center, a museum, and a hotel, among other things. There will also be observation decks and viewing platforms, providing tourists with amazing views of the surrounding region

Yet it’s the Mukaab’s sheer girth that truly distinguishes it. When finished, the structure will be the highest in the world, topping even Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. It will be seen from a long distance away and will act as a significant landmark in the area. The Mukaab will also have a number of cutting-edge technology and amenities, such as a high-speed elevator system, sophisticated lighting and temperature control systems, and a sophisticated security and surveillance network.

What is the controversy around it?

While the Mukaab is an incredible technical marvel, it has also received considerable criticism and controversy. Others have questioned the prudence of erecting such a big tower in a region already plagued by water shortages and other environmental issues. Others have questioned the project’s cost, which is anticipated to be in the billions of dollars.

Notwithstanding these reservations, the Saudi government has continued to pursue the project, viewing it as an important component of its efforts to change the country’s economy and image. The Mukaab is projected to be finished within the next several years, and its influence on the area and the globe as a whole remains to be seen.

It will be a multi-purpose center for religious and cultural events. Despite considerable criticism and controversy, the project remains a symbol of the country’s might and prestige, and it is expected to draw millions of tourists each year.

The Economic Impact of Rising Petrol Prices in Pakistan

The Economic Impact of Rising Petrol Prices in Pakistan
Image Source: Globe Estate & Builders

Pakistan is one of the emerging countries with a heavily reliant transportation industry on petroleum. The rise in fuel prices has a huge influence on Pakistan’s economy, since it impacts not just the transportation industry, but also other industries and, ultimately, people’s everyday lives. The economic impact of increased petrol prices in Pakistan will be discussed in this article.

Sky-rocketing transportation cost

The first and most obvious effect of increased gasoline costs is on the transportation industry. The transportation industry is the backbone of the economy, and every increase in gasoline costs has a direct influence on it. As gasoline prices rise, transportation costs rise, causing the prices of products and services to rise. This causes inflation, which has a negative impact on people’s purchasing power. Furthermore, the high cost of transportation has an impact on corporate profitability, which eventually leads to a drop in economic growth.

Agriculture crisis

Since Pakistan is more of an agricultural dependent country, the agriculture industry is the second most affected sector by increased gasoline costs. The agricultural sector in Pakistan is primarily reliant on diesel-powered tractors and machinery due to lack of technological innovations and research policies being conducted in the country. When the price of gasoline rises, so does the price of diesel, which raises the cost of production. This is a worrisome issue since substance farming and basic dependence on natural crops such as wheat and corn are also being quite difficult to afford for much of the population.

Manufacturing cost rises

The third effect of growing petroleum costs is on the manufacturing industry, which significantly relies on energy for transportation of raw materials and completed goods. When the price of petrol rises, transportation expenses rise in tandem, raising the cost of manufacturing. This, in turn, reduces corporate profitability, resulting in a slowing of economic growth. Also, increased transportation costs make exporting goods more expensive, reducing exports hence causing a deficit in the balance of trade due to which we see the dollar dominating the rupee by far.

A testing burden on the public

The fourth effect of increased fuel costs is on the general public. When gasoline costs climb, so does the expense of life. The rise in petrol costs leads to an increase in the prices of products and services, resulting in a decrease in people’s buying power. Furthermore, the rise in fuel price has an impact on people’s everyday lives since they must face the burden of high transportation expenditures in an already low income economical fixture.

Pakistan Raises Fuel Prices in Effort to Stabilize Economy - The New York Times
Source: Ney York Times

Lack of subsidies

The government is the fifth effect of increased fuel costs. Petrol price increases result in increased tax income for the government. Yet, rising petrol prices raise the government’s subsidy cost since the government must offer subsidies to the poor to offset the impact of growing gas prices. Moreover, an increase in gasoline costs leads to a decrease in economic growth, which impacts the government’s tax collection.

The rise in petrol costs has a substantial influence on Pakistan’s economy. It has an impact not just on the transportation industry, but also on other industries and, ultimately, on people’s everyday lives. The government must take efforts to offset the economic effect of rising gasoline costs. This may be accomplished by giving impoverished people with subsidies, investing in alternative energy sources, and supporting public transportation.

Why Do Pakistanis Turn Every Dangerous Calamity Into A Picnic?

Why Do Pakistanis Turn Every Dangerous Calamity Into A Picnic?

Nowadays, it’s common to hear about potentially dangerous situations or warnings in the news. There seems to be no scarcity of possible catastrophes, including man-made ones like terrorist strikes and threats as well as natural ones like storms and earthquakes. And yet, despite the dangers and cautions, a lot of individuals appear to handle these risks lightly and as if they were going on a picnic. What gives, though? Why do people make a picnic out of any hazardous situation or warning?

People Gathering At Seaview Despite Government Ban Because Of High Tides

People’s tendency to overestimate risk could be one factor. Those who experience this phenomenon, also known as “optimism bias”, in their thinking tend to believe that bad things will happen to others more frequently than they will to themselves. When a hurricane warning is issued, for instance, many Pakistani people may believe that the storm won’t actually hit their location or that the damage won’t be as bad as expected and gather at Seaview. This bias may influence people to take risks they otherwise wouldn’t, such as ignoring hurricane warnings or not staying indoors when they should be.

A very recent incident proves this theory. Just a few days ago, a wild leopard ran loose and made its way into a very habituated neighborhood in Islamabad DHA Phase 2. Instead of people staying indoors ad handling the situation calmly, they came out to make videos and “enjoy”. Here have a look.

Many TikTokers also made their way to the scene to make videos and content like it was a field trip to the safari.

Another theory is that individuals may have grown numb to danger. We are continuously inundated with information about hazardous occurrences and warnings because of the 24-hour news cycle and social media. With repeated exposure, we may eventually grow numb to the risks and dangers all around us. Also, it could be challenging to tell the difference between genuine threats and sensationalized news reports. Because of this, warnings could not be taken as seriously as they ought to be, with people treating them more like a picnic than a serious problem.

It’s also likely that as a coping tactic, people make risky situations into picnics. People may use humor or other coping methods to ease their fear and anxiety when faced with extreme danger or uncertainty. For instance, people may laugh about or engage in amusing pursuits to take their minds off the gravity of the circumstance. While doing so can help you cope, it can also make you complacent and prevent you from taking the proper safety measures. Pakistani are the most creative when it comes to making memes about anything or any situation for example this.

Finally, it’s important to think about how society and culture influence the way we perceive threats. People may take risks and disregard warnings when there is a stronger emphasis on individualism and personal freedom in particular societies. Some cultures might have a higher sense of belonging and obligation, which might encourage more watchful and proactive action. Through the messages we receive from the media, advertising, and other sources, society can also influence our opinions. It makes sense that some people could regard risky situations as a picnic if we are continually inundated with messages that prioritize pleasure and excitement over prudence and safety.

People Recording Fight Breakouts At Eat Festival Instead Of Helping Out

To sum up, there are a variety of reasons why people choose to convert dangerous situations and warnings into picnics. Whatever the cause—optimism bias, desensitization, coping strategies, or cultural and societal attitudes—it is obvious that a complex interplay of psychological, social, and environmental elements influences how we perceive risk. While it’s critical to keep things in perspective and avoid letting fear dictate our behavior, it’s equally necessary that we heed warnings seriously and make every effort to be prepared for the worst. By doing this, we can reduce the risks and effects of harmful situations and maintain the safety of our communities and ourselves.

Peek Freans Unveils Its Much-Awaited ‘Gluco Kahani Book’ At The Karachi Literature Festival

Peek Freans Launches Its Much-Awaited 'Gluco Kahani Book' At The Karachi Literature Festival

Peek Freans Gluco and famous musician Bilal Maqsood laucnhed their much-awaited book of “Gluco Kahani Rhymes” during a lively and interactive session at the ongoing Karachi Literary Festival.

Along with Bilal Maqsood, the Gluco Kahani platform was developed with the goal of producing children’s rhymes in the Urdu language. The goal was to produce purposeful material under the Peek Freans Brand banner for the benefit of the next generation. Since the initiative’s debut in March 2022, it has amassed an incredible response, garnering over 22 million views, 95 million impressions on YouTube, and over 15 million impressions on Facebook. By using simple rhymes that help in vocabulary development for young children, Gluco Kahani strives to be the vehicle that draws kids to view content in our native language.

“We wanted to demonstrate that eating can be enjoyable, interesting, and memorable. This belief inspired us to embark on a mission to make studying Urdu enjoyable, according to Shahzain Munir, executive director of EBM. In order to encourage the practise of reading in Urdu in a way that both parents and children will like, we decided to turn the rhymes into a book.

For more than 30 years, mothers have trusted Peek Freans Gluco as the first biscuit for their children that offers good nourishment, making it a generational brand. The same stories and rhymes have been published as books so that kids can enjoy our beautiful language while learning about delightful Gluco characters. This is done to maintain a stronger connection with its customers. The stories are intended to let parents interact and have fun with their kids as they learn Urdu counting with Haathi, gallop through the forest with Khargosh, and discover Chirya’s ability to aid others. Each page has a QR code that connects to the online video and content.

Well-known singer Bilal Maqsood, when questioned about the endeavour, said, “This was a dream project for me. I partnered with Peek Freans Gluco of EBM to compose, write, and sing nine original Urdu nursery rhymes for children to play my part in giving our children something to hold on to while growing up – something that’ll keep them connected to their language and cultural values without losing the element of learning with fun.”
The discussion came to a close with the remark that all elements of society must cooperate in order to guarantee the accessibility and appropriate distribution of Urdu content for the sake of our younger generation.

Are Public Phone Charging Stations Safe? Find Out

Are Public Phone Charging Stations Safe? Know About Juice Jacking

Do you have vacation plans this holiday season? You’ll undoubtedly have a cell phone or some other portable device with you, and you’ll eventually need to recharge it. If your battery is low, be aware that charging your electronic device at a free USB port can have unfavorable results. These charging stations can be located near airport gates, in hotels, and other travel-friendly sites. A new form of cyber theft called “juice jacking” may target you.

IImage Source: Code Name Max

Cybersecurity professionals have issued a warning that thieves may install malware onto public USB charging stations in order to gain unauthorized access to electronic devices while they are being charged. A device can be locked by malware introduced through a contaminated USB connection, and it can export user information and passwords to the offender. The data can be sold to other bad guys or used by criminals to access online accounts. Such public charging stations can be found in Pakistan at Dolmen Mall Clifton, shopping markets and eve hospitals like Southcity.

How Does Juice Jacking Work?

The way USB ports are made permits juice jacking. They are primarily used for charging phones, but they can also be used for data transfer. Because of this, each time you plug your phone in to charge, you could be allowing data transfers. Due to the fact that the majority of phones now require permission before beginning data transfers, it is viewed as a possible threat rather than a serious and genuine danger. This indicates that any hack would be stopped right away if the user is paying attention. It is uncertain whether or not hackers will ever discover a method to get around this security.

What Happens If You Get Juice Jacked?

One of the first things that might happen is data theft. What is stored on your phone will obviously determine the extent of any damage if data is stolen. The vast majority of individuals don’t just have their contacts and images, they have their social media. Yet, juice jacking might be used to easily specifically target people who are known to have valuable information.

The second possibility might be malware. Anybody could potentially be at risk from malware. A keylogger that logs passwords typed into your phone can be designed to be injected into a charging station. Moreover, malware can be installed to track the movements of your phone or tape any phone calls. You can even be completely locked out of your phone using it.

Is Juice Jacking A Legitimate Threat?

Juice jacking is not something the typical individual will encounter. Intelligence officials have shown that it poses a hazard, but no actual attack has yet to be seen in the wild.
Having said that, it’s crucial to remember that theoretical tactics frequently start being employed later, which is why security researchers show assaults like this.

Having said that, it’s crucial to remember that theoretical tactics frequently start being employed later, which is why security researchers show assaults like this.

How You Can Prevent It?

Avoiding juice jacking is simple. Instead, use electrical outlets. It is therefore safe to carry your own charger and use public power outlets. A battery bank or spare battery can also be purchased. Batteries for backup and battery banks are inexpensive. Some power banks have the capacity to recharge a phone for more than a week. It goes without saying that these gadgets are useful even if you are not attempting to avoid fraudulent charging stations.

You can also invest in a charge-only cable. There are charge-only USB cables available for purchase. They can therefore only be used to transfer power, not data that could be potentially damaging. It would be risk-free for you to utilize a malicious port as long as you are carrying such a cable.
