TikTok hosted its first event in Pakistan to launch its Safety Ambassadors Program, which aims to raise awareness about digital safety in the country. TikTok, which has over 1 billion monthly active users worldwide, remains an entertainment platform dedicated to empowering its users. To moderate inappropriate content and behaviour, TikTok has a robust set of Community Guidelines in place. TikTok has a zero tolerance policy for harmful content that incites violence against other users or any content that violates its Community Guidelines, and it goes to great lengths to ensure its users’ safety and well-being. The Community Guidelines are available in both English and Urdu.

OpenWiFi is a Wi-Fi architecture based on open source that enables multi-vendor, interoperable Wi-Fi networks. TIP OpenWiFi-based solutions allow service providers, such as Multinet, to seamlessly mix and match access points and controllers from any TIP OpenWiFi compliant manufacturer to create a unified infrastructure, allowing it to easily expand its Wi-Fi footprint while maintaining a robust experience. Because it is open source, it also enables developers to create new applications quickly.

Multinet is deploying Edgecore APs integrated with their ecOpen Cloud Controller technology for their OpenWiFi network and hotspots, which are supported by high-speed optical fibre infrastructure and built in collaboration with a local System Integrator partner in Pakistan, STARCOM Technologies (Pvt) Limited.

Multinet recently announced the deployment of a 3.2 Tbps long-haul network infrastructure using TIP Open Optical and Packet Transport Technologies, demonstrating the company’s commitment to open and agile disaggregated architecture and technologies.

My wife and children cried when I was in jail, so you take it back and you certainly can’t talk to me like this.” He added.

Nowadays, it’s common to hear about potentially dangerous situations or warnings in the news. There seems to be no scarcity of possible catastrophes, including man-made ones like terrorist strikes and threats as well as natural ones like storms and earthquakes. Also, it could be challenging to tell the difference between genuine threats and sensationalized news reports. Because of this, warnings could not be taken as seriously as they ought to be, with people treating them more like a picnic than a serious problem.

It’s also likely that as a coping tactic, people make risky situations into picnics. People may use humor or other coping methods to ease their fear and anxiety when faced with extreme danger or uncertainty. Jazz enables TCF to impart digital-age skills to over 250,000 students

The Citizens Foundation (TCF) is implementing tech-enabled learning throughout 1,800 TCF schools with the help of Jazz, Pakistan’s top digital operator and a member of the VEON Group, delivering a superior educational experience for more than 250,000 children nationally.

23 computer labs have already undergone renovations as part of this programme, and all TCF schools now have a school administration tool that provides efficient, transparent, and accurate data gathering and management for all students, professors, and non-faculty staff.

While the computer curriculum under the DLP (Digital Literacy Program) for grades 6–8 is specifically created to equip students with digital-age skills, the blended learning solution for primary students is an innovative approach that combines online and offline education to provide a more interactive and engaging learning experience.

The digitalization project also made it possible to translate textbooks and educational resources for grades 6 and 7 into Urdu, resulting in the creation of a bilingual curriculum and a scripted bilingual lesson plan. In addition, 700 Android phones were delivered to schools across the entire TCF network, which aided in implementation of blended learning program.

Aamir Ibrahim, CEO of Jazz, commented on the effort, “We are pleased to have worked with TCF on this significant project to digitally transform schools and give children access to the most recent technology. Jazz continues to pool its resources and expertise in order to develop long-term, sustainable solutions and partnerships that benefit both individuals and the larger community. Pakistan’s Standard Chartered Bank Posts Record Financial Results

In Karachi, February 17th, 2023, a record profit before tax of PKR 50.1 billion was produced by Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan Limited (SCBPL), representing an increase of 102% compared to the previous year. Strong income growth and ongoing cost and risk management practices also contributed to the performance.

Highlights:

  • Record profit before tax of PKR 50.1 billion, up 102 percent year on year
  • Highest ever revenue of PKR 62.6 billion, a growth of 68 percent
  • A healthy increase in total assets by 10 percent
  • Strong growth in deposits of PKR 91.7 billion, up by 15 percent
  • Prudent risk approach resulting in a net release in loan impairment of PKR 1.3 billion

To achieve a top line of PKR 62.6 billion, the total revenue increased by 68%, with strong contributions from all segments. Operating expenses were efficiently managed through efficiency and restrained spending, even with a high level of inflation and ongoing investments in our infrastructure. They increased by 14% from the previous year. A net release of PKR 1.3 billion was made throughout the year compared to a net charge of PKR 0.5 billion in loan impairments in 2021 as a result of the reversal of the Covid-19 general provision, as well as lower impairments and excellent recoveries.

The Bank is well-positioned to meet the needs of its customers thanks to a diverse product range. The Bank’s total deposits climbed by PKR 91.7 billion (up 15%) in terms of liabilities, while current and savings accounts increased by PKR 108.7 billion (up 19%) in 2022 and made up 96% of the deposit base. Hence, advances decreased by 8% throughout the course of the year.
