Tariq Jamil’s Elder Son Explains Reason Of Asim Jamil’s Death

Religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel’s son, Asim Jamil took his life on Sunday at his residence in the Tulamba area of Khanewal district, Punjab.

Asim was rushed to Tulamba Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The district police officer (DPO) has seen a CCTV footage that shows Asim Jamil committing suicide,” according to reports that cited Multan’s Regional Police Officer (RPO) Captain (retd) Sohail Chaudhry. The police officer also said that they were sending the footage for forensic analysis, as per reports.

The details revealed that Asim requested his domestic aide, Imran, to bring him the pistol, reportedly a 30-bore firearm. The police officer said that the domestic help had asked Asim not to do so.

Asim Jamil’s brother took to social media to release a video statement, explaining the reason behind Asim’s suicide. He revealed that Asim had been grappling with mental illness for an extended period and had been undergoing electric shock therapy to stabilize his mental condition since childhood.

Meanwhile, Punjab Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar has sought a comprehensive report regarding this incident from the Multan RPO.

Asim’s Earlier life

“He married a girl of his choice but they divorced two years ago with no children,” the RPO added. His marital ties were to a Niazi family from Khanewal.

The sources said Maulana Tariq Jamil had built Al-Hussain School in Tulamba, which was managed and run by Asim’s wife, who was also the principal of the school, while Asim had neither completed matriculation nor had he received any religious education.

Condolences from across the country

This event stirred a wave of condolences from across the nation, including heartfelt messages from renowned figures in the entertainment industry. Saba Qamar, Ahmed Ali Butt, and Shaista Lodhi expressed their sympathies on social media.

 

The incident also drew the attention of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the National Assembly Speaker Raja Parvaiz Ashraf.

Winter Brings Higher Gas Costs and Limited 8-Hour Availability

Caretaker Energy Minister Muhammad Ali’s recent statement on the surge in gas prices has stirred considerable debate in Pakistan. While he sees it as a potential solution to the ever-growing circular debt in the gas sector, it raises concerns about the approaching winter and the hardships that lie ahead. The circular debt, now standing at a staggering Rs2,100 billion, has become a significant issue that threatens the energy sector’s stability.

Preventing Resurgence in Circular Debt

Mr. Ali emphasized that the recent increase in gas prices is expected to put the brakes on the circular debt’s resurgence in the gas sector. He further pointed out that the government is diligently working to prevent the escalation of circular debt in the power sector, as agreed with the International Monetary Fund.

Fluctuating Gas Prices

Regarding the recent gas price hike, the caretaker minister clarified that there was no change in prices during the first half of the previous fiscal year (July to December 2022). However, prices did increase in the second half (January to June), albeit insufficiently to cover the required RLNG diverted to domestic consumers during the winter season.

The impending gas supply scenario paints a bleak picture for the coming winter, with consumers expected to face a limited supply of just eight hours daily, despite the price hikes. In light of this, Mr. Ali recommended that consumers transition to LPG, as piped gas supply would only be available in morning, afternoon, and evening intervals. Furthermore, the ban on new gas connections would remain in place due to the lack of surplus gas.

Winter Preparedness: LNG Cargoes

To mitigate the impending winter gas crisis, the government has secured two LNG cargoes for December, with plans to book two more for January. Gas prices were last increased in January 2023, marking the first hike in two and a half years. The slow pace of price increases has contributed to the addition of Rs461 billion to the circular debt in the previous fiscal year.

Mr. Ali also highlighted the critical challenges faced by the gas sector, with exploration and production companies exiting the country due to financial risks. The federal government’s fiscal constraints have further impeded exploration activities and gas imports, pushing the sector to the brink of collapse.

Disparities in Gas Distribution

In terms of gas distribution, only 30% of households in Pakistan have access to piped gas, with the majority relying on LPG in urban areas and biomass, wood, and cow dung in rural areas. Around 57% of domestic gas connections fall into the protected category, where gas prices cannot be increased. This category consumes 31% of the total gas supplied in the country.

While the increase in fixed gas charges has sparked controversy, Mr. Ali stressed that the maximum bill for protected consumers would not exceed Rs1,300 per month. He also pointed out that gas prices for tandoors (clay ovens used for making bread, especially roti) have not been increased, as roti is considered a necessity.

Regional Disparities in Gas Costs

The minister concluded by shedding light on the rationalized industry tariffs between Pakistan’s north and south regions, emphasizing the variations in gas costs for the industry. In Punjab, gas for the industry is charged at the full RLNG cost, while Sindh’s industry pays significantly less, around one-third of the cost.

While the surge in gas prices may help address the circular debt issue in the gas sector, it also raises concerns about the challenges consumers and the energy sector will face in the upcoming winter. Finding a balance between economic stability and ensuring affordable access to essential services is a complex challenge that Pakistan’s energy sector continues to grapple with.

In Europe, hydrogen-powered cars can travel up to 800 kilometers or more on a single tank. Azan Sami Discusses His Relationship With His Father

While the host, Ahmed Ali Butt, shared his stance on growing up amidst a separated family and how he used humor as a shield and only it was after marriage he realized that he has compromised himself emotionally. Leading up the conversation, Butt asked Azan about his experience while growing up amidst the divorce of his parents whose personal life became a highlight of mainstream media and news. He asked ‘if he thinks the same happened to him and whether the insecurity of not having something steady in life and a stable home was difficult?’

To his response, Azan started his answer with, ‘My mother did her best, I know that but a father is a father.’  

Sharing his own experience with his separated family Azan mentioned that he thinks both the parents have a designated space in a child’s life and that cannot be replaced. However, while talking about his experience in the entertainment industry, the actor shared his utter disappointment over getting the inside scoop about his father.

‘In the industry, I found this constant questioning whether I meet my father or not. As if, does he own me or not.’

‘For me, he’s my dad whether he is an Indian or Pakistani. I have had people tell me to give a negative statement about him and India since that would benefit me in the long run.’

Adding, ‘I have not been raised to speak ill of my parents.’

Later in the interview, Azan shared his stance on being born with a silver spoon and having a flag of nepotism above his head, Azan said that he doesn’t care about he people perceive him and it certainly doesn’t bother him at all.

‘I will only care if someone talks about my work.’ He said.

Further adding, ‘If there’s a song of my father that has ever played at a wedding, I could never be able to compete with and I won’t ever want to.’

While talking about his father’s music he mentioned that he has been lately using his father’s codes and melodies since that is his legacy and as long as he can sing his father’s songs decently there’s no harm in singing them.

People love playing the game and they cannot get enough of it. The upcoming installment showed us just how much more open-ness is being offered this time around. Get your spear ready and your provisions gathered, it is time to hunt!

4. Robocop: Rogue City

There have been quite a lot of robocop games in the past, but they have all become dated now. It is nice to see that there is another action-packed game on its way. Everyone is a fan of the part-human, part-machine cop who delivers swift justice to those breaking the law. TikTok releases its Q2 2023 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report: Commitment to Trust and Accountability

Pakistan, October 26, 2023:  TikTok, the leading destination for short videos, has released its latest Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for the second quarter of 2023 (April-June 2023), furthering its dedication to combat misinformation and creating a safe and inclusive space. The report underscores TikTok’s ongoing commitment to earning trust through accountability and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for its community.

During Q2 2023, a total of 106,476,032 videos were removed globally, which accounts for approximately 0.7% of all videos uploaded to TikTok. Out of these, 66,440,775 videos were removed through automated systems, while 6,750,002 videos were restored after review.

In Pakistan, 14,141,581 videos were removed for violating Community Guidelines in Q2 2023. Alongside addressing Community Guidelines violations, TikTok proactively targeted spam accounts and associated content, taking preventive measures to curb the creation of automated spam accounts.

During Q2 2023, 83.6% of the violative videos in Pakistan were removed before anyone could view them, and approximately 92.5% of such videos were eliminated within a day. The proactive removal rate for Q2 2023 stood at 98.6%. Globally, TikTok also removed 18,823,040 accounts suspected to belong to users under the age of 13, prioritizing the safety of young users.

“I’ve just turned 15, so I don’t yet possess an ID card to collect payments. Therefore, my mother handles the financial matters related to my work,” Aina revealed during the show.

She also highlighted that her expenses haven’t changed drastically, except for a minor 5% increase in spending on skincare products or an occasional new phone. She still needs to ask for money, and anything deemed inappropriate will not be granted.

The lighthearted banter continued as the “Mazaq Raat” team playfully teased her for not missing school.

“Today, I’m in Lahore, but my school is in Karachi,” Aina explained, adding that, although some may think her childhood is being wasted, she strongly disagrees.

The young actor also opened up about the criticism she faces for the same roles that earned her praise.

“It was very challenging. We receive praise at one point and then face criticism. What people tend to forget is that, despite being actors, we also have feelings. We read those comments and begin to question ourselves. I never want to reach a point where I doubt my choices or feel that all my efforts were in vain.”

As the episode reached its conclusion, a spectator inquired about the controversial ending of her recent drama serial “Mayi Ri,” particularly why it concluded with a divorce rather than a different resolution.

“Child marriage is wrong. Annie and Fakhir were well-suited, but the timing wasn’t right for them,” Aina offered as her perspective.
