Siri-WhatsApp

The recent WhatsApp iPhone update has been one of the most awaited ones. Not only has Facebook managed to make WhatsApp more convenient for iPhone users, the company has also shown their creativity when it comes to technology making life much easier.

Siri, the efficient AI who has always tried to make iPhone users feel at ease now has learnt a new ability. The new WhatsApp iPhone update now allows Siri to read messages from the social application out live! This means that you finally get a hands-free experience on the application if you are an iPhone user!

 Siri-WhatsApp

Want Siri to read your messages aloud? Here’s how!

Step 1- Check iOS Version

Siri will work with WhatsApp for users who have iOS 10.3 and upgraded versions of the software and WhatsApp Messenger version 2.17.20, which was updated on Friday 21 April for iPhone.

Step 2- Give Siri Permission

In order for Siri to link to the user’s WhatsApp, it needs the user’s permission. This can be done by voice, by just saying “Hey Siri, read my last WhatsApp message”.

The Siri page will return the following:

“I’ll need to access your WhatsApp data to do this.” WhatsApp says: ‘This lets you use Siri to quickly send and read messages and make calls. Some of your WhatsApp data will be sent to Apple to process your requests. Is that OK?'”

Click on “Yes”.

How to Read Messages via Siri

All you need to say is  “Hey Siri, read my last WhatsApp message” it will read it out aloud. In fact, it will read any messages you haven’t already seen by opening the WhatsApp Messenger application. After a message has been read, Siri will ask you if you want to reply, which you can by voice. You can also ask Siri to send a message to a WhatsApp contact or call them through the app.

After a message has been read, Siri will ask you if you want to reply, which you can by voice. You can also ask Siri to send a message to a WhatsApp contact or call them through the app.

However, there are a couple of things you will want to know about what Siri is not capable of doing, not yet anyways. The AI cannot read messages that have been physically opened and have been read by the application.

Secondly, if you get Siri to read a message to you it doesn’t flag to the sender that it has been read. When you read a message in the app the sender gets two blue ticks to show you’ve seen it. They don’t get that if Siri reads them aloud.

Nonetheless, it is a great update to start with.
