Many Muslim families simply follow the same twice-yearly routine for Eid: wake up, perform the Fajr prayer, have breakfast, go to prayer, greet one another with “Eid Mubarak,” return home, possibly go out, possibly have guests over, eat copious amounts of food, receive gifts or Eid money, eat, and go to bed. However, with a long Eid weekend coming ahead, you might need to amp up your festivities with activities to spend a great time.

Here are some Eid suggestions for activities you can do with your family to break up your regular schedule. Here is a list of some ideas for Eid.

1. Plan Everything

Invite your family to a gathering beforehand to discuss your plans for Eid. Invite guests over in the day, then go out to supper in the evening? or the opposite? Talk about ideas with the entire family, including the children. Talk about the food and assign cooking duties rather than leaving Mum to handle everything.

2. Hit The Road

Encourage the kids to help you by taking the family out into the country and attempting to get lost on some unknown roads. Always have cash on hand for the pay phone, a map, and enough food for everyone in case it takes longer to get back.

3. Host An Entertainment Night

From charades to board games and karaoke, there are ample activities you can enjoy with your friends and family. Eid is all about quality time and there is no better way to have a good banter than to indulge in board games.

4. Visit A Shelter

Visit a shelter to spread the warmth with the less fortunate. Additionally, spread knowledge by explaining to the shelter’s staff what Ramadan, generosity in Islam, and Eid are all about. Take leaflets and other written materials with you. Everyone might be reminded of what it was like to experience hunger while fasting during the month of Ramadan thanks to the visit.

5. Get Into The Gifting Spirit

If you’re not into the gift exchange idea and want everyone to get a present try this. Arts and crafts are the best tools for making these gifts. They are personal and cheap and save trips to the shopping center. This Eid idea brings out the creativity in kids and adds to the happiness of the eid.
