Telenor Pakistan has won an accolade for Pakistan in the Wall Street Journal’s Financial Inclusion Challenge. This was a People’s Choice Category Award and Telenor Easy Paisa won by the maximum number of votes.

The competition was open for corporate as well as non-profit ventures from the Asia Pacific Regions. In order to participate, a short video was to be submitted which depicted how the Company’s solutions are facilitating people for solving the issue of financial access for poor people.

The judge for the challenge, Vipin Sharma stated this about the Company, “The company has a sustainable and scalable model that allows it to offer a wide variety of products.”

EasyPaisa was launched back in 2009 after Telenor collaborated with Tameer Micro-Finance Bank, as a mobile banking service. At present, there are over 60,000 retail outlets across the country. The service facilitates people for financial as well as health services.
