After enjoying their summer holidays, kids are back to their schools once again. However, these new beginnings are not so joyous for the parents of these little hearts.

Sudden hike school fees has left parents completely horrified and devastated. On 18TH August, parents of students studying in private schools of Karachi, gathered at Shahra-e-Faisal, to protest against Foundation Public School (FPS) for increasing its fees to a very high amount.

The protest started a hashtag #ParentsAreNotATMs and also included the banners with slogans such as “stop increasing school fee” and “no fee till low fee.”

It is argued that such high rises to the annual fee are completely unfair and the government should take action against it. A 5% increase in fee is a violation of Sindh High Court law notification, which was announced last year.

Many parents felt that those belonging to elite and upper-middle class should have been involved in this protest as well. Despite being capable of paying a huge amount, they should realize that private schools are doing this just to gain high profits and revenues.

Lets hope that the government takes notice of this protest and do the needful.
