Pakistan Becomes the First Country to Recognize Transgender Woman in its National Delegation at UN Committee

The Government of Pakistan under Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has become the first country in the world to recognize transgender women.

Aisha Mughal, a transgender woman participated in the dialogue in National Delegation at the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women.

The United Nations conference that took place in Geneva, Switzerland successfully completed the review of Pakistan’s 5th Periodic UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women Report.

The delegation engaged in constructive dialogue related to women’s empowerment and the rights in the region.

The Government of Pakistan follows a progressive and well-defined agenda
for gender equality and women empowerment in the country.

Guiding principles for the promotion and protection of women are embedded in provisions of the Constitution of Pakistan.
