This TVC Is Making Pakistani Parents Trust Their Kids Like Never Before

Growing up in a Pakistani household comes with its own unique cultural challenges. When a child hits his/her teen years a majority of parents find it to difficult to understand that they are now going to be more independent. Especially when it comes to girls, the protective element is always stronger. Parents struggle to get their message across and the need to trust their children becomes even more important.

To explain the bond between parents and their teens, Shoop Noodles is doing an impeccable job!

With their #TrustTouMustHai Campaign, Shoop beautifully conveys an important message  of how vital it is for parents to trust their children. The brand has highlighted a key insight with regards to parent-child relationships especially in dealing with young teenagers.

Shoop Noodles has recognized the fact that teenagers have their talents and capabilities. Parents need to extend a bit of trust towards them and let them experiment with new ways that will help them to grow and achieve more. This can only happen when encouraging parents trust their children and push their capabilities. Although this may sound a bit difficult for a few parents out there, but it is certainly not impossible.

Shoop Noodles strikes again!

Speaking of parents trusting their teenagers, there’s another incredible thing Shoop’s been doing! Breaking stereotypes. Earlier in one of their ads, Shoop showed a brother cooking late at night in the kitchen for his sister. This time, Shoop is back with another fresh concept where it has shown a teenage girl riding a bike!

Check it out!

The ad conveys a beautiful message

In the ad, we can see how it beautifully captures a moment between a mother and daughter. While the mother is busy doing chores in the kitchen, she realizes how they’ve run out basic things and that she had already asked her husband to buy but he is late coming home. The daughter then saves the day by telling her mom to make Shoop Noodles while she goes get the things for her on the bike. Incredible, isn’t it?

The mother gives her a puzzled look as these things are often purchased by the males of the house but it seems like this isn’t the case anymore. The ad beautifully and subtly conveys the message of defying social stereotypes which have indeed become very important.

Kudos once again to Shoop for conveying this thoughtful message and changing our perspective!

How to Disinfect your Car & Personal Space from COVID-19!

CEO Of foodpanda Talks About The Ideal Solution To Combat COVID-19

Coronavirus (COVID-19) rapidly spreads across the globe, prompting governments including that of Pakistan to step up their measures to contain the spread of the pandemic. Law enforcement agencies have imposed a lockdown in Sindh for locals to practice social distancing, to prevent cases from rising. People tend to break the barrier of social distancing by ending up at supermarkets with no other alternative, therefore, increasing the risk of COVID-19, an issue also highlighted by the CEO of foodpanda, Nauman Sikandar Mirza where he appeals the law enforcements to resume online deliveries to combat the pandemic.

Nauman Sikandar Mirza posted a video on his social media handle last evening with a plausible appeal to keep people safe while stabilizing the economy. Nauman begins appreciating the measures incorporated by the government, military, law enforcement agencies and armed forces to help the nation combat the global pandemic in an efficient manner. He continues by appealing to the government and businesspersons to join hands and devices an unprecedented strategy that will ensure the health and safety of masses without crippling the economic activities. Nauman proposes committees to be formed in all provinces to get in touch with businesspersons for the initiative. Specifically, for foodpanda, Nauman appeals to the enforcements to grant permission for specific restaurants to operate their kitchen since maintaining high-quality standards is an integral part of their decorum.

Nauman refers to the World Health Organization (WHO) and various researches, as he comments about the non-existent link of food with COVID-19. Approaching the end of his appeal, Nauman talks about Contact Less Deliveries introduced for foodpanda customers where the chances of human contact are minimal. The concept takes inspiration from China, where people have combatted the virus while stabilizing the economy, and Nauman suggests the same for our country during the outbreak since people are being forced to go out for shopping due to restrictions imposed on online delivery platforms.

Delivery of food, groceries, medicines should be opened immediately. China controlled the spread of the virus by delivering essentials to doorsteps. Everyday thousands of people coming out of homes in Pakistan and gathering at unhygienic conditions which is not ideal. Here is what Mr. Nauman Sikander Mirza, CEO & MD foodpanda Pakistan has to say regarding the current situation.

Posted by foodpanda on Friday, March 27, 2020

To conclude, Nauman encourages stakeholders to form a committee with the government and aid the population ensuring their safety and health. To stabilize the economy during a time like this, resuming online delivery services would be the practical approach since they minimize human contact on a large scale. Online deliveries across the globe have proved to be successful in combating the pandemic and foodpanda being the prime example in Pakistan, has made sure to prioritize health and safety of their heroes and customers with Contact Less Deliveries, foodpanda Hygiene kit, installation of washbasins outside restaurants and rider hubs and temperature checks of heroes. To further ensure hygiene, heroes have been provided with hand sanitizers, face masks and gloves, safeguarding them on duty. Online deliveries have also proved to become the perfect solution internationally, by keeping individuals indoors, as all their essentials will be delivered at their doorstep, eliminating the risk of COVID-19.

Avoid Coronavirus: 4 Important Ways To Boost Your Immune System!

https://www.soundhealthandlastingwealth

Just about anyone could catch the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) that is spreading around the world like a wildfire, but it is especially affecting those who have compromised immune systems.

For people, prevention is key. Even the individuals who are commonly healthy may consider doing a few things to boost their immune system for extra protection against this virus. While there are no assurances that taking these steps will help, they are very unlikely to hurt.

1. Sleep well

Source/ CNET

Getting a good night’s sleep will enable you to keep your immune system prosperous. The reason: Sleep helps your T cells stick to and attack infections. With less sleep, your T cells are less “sticky” and aren’t as strong in fighting off viruses.

A “good” night of sleep varies from person to person, but common guidelines are for 7 to 9 hours of solid sleep each night. If you have restless sleep, wake up every night or snore, you may want to consult to a doctor.

2. Healthy Diet

Source/ MensHealth.com

Put away the candy and soda and opt a well-balanced diet that encompasses lots of fruits and vegetables can boost your immune function.

According to sources, the three most important vitamins for your immune system are Vitamin C, B6 and E.

It’s best to get these benefits from whole foods, as your body absorbs the nutrients more efficiently than with processed supplements.

3. Exercise

Source/ Healthline

Several studies have indicated that a strong immune system goes hand-in-hand with being fit. This doesn’t imply to go out and run a marathon – in fact, exercising too much and too energetically can actually stifle your immune system for a few days while your body recovers. Reasonable exercise can be great for your immune system.

4. More precautions and treatments

Source/ NHS.UK

Several studies have shown that acupuncture can have anti-inflammatory impacts and can help improve your immune system. The ancient Chinese treatment uses tiny needles to facilitate specific parts of the body.

One of the things acupuncture does is fortify the lungs and the kidneys, which also are very important in boosting immunity.

How many of these do you practice regularly to keep your immune system strong? Let us know in the comments below.

Here’s How Coronavirus Is Affecting The Economy Globally

Coronavirus has suddenly become everyone’s nightmare. The infections’ hub China also plays a key role in the spread of the virus. There’s no doubt that Coronavirus has left a vital impact on the economy, airlines, and even tourism.

CoronaVirus Update: The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the coronavirus, a ‘Pandemic’

The Coronavirus has spread to at least 114 countries and many countries have announced strict quarantine measures to be followed especially Italy. Following the Pandemic, on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump has announced a travel ban for 30 days from Europe to US. He further added that he would offer financial assistance to those affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

According to research, the spread of the coronavirus will stem in the first fall in global air travel in more than a decade, the global airline industry body has foreseen.

The travel industry was using as a benchmark for the 2003 Sars outbreak, which hit 26 countries, killed 774 people and caused a six-month dip in the global expedition.

However, as the first cases were documented in Italy and Iran previous weekend, companies around the globe began to cancel events from Cannes to California, rattling the $1.4tn corporate travel district.

Saudi Arabia has jumped on the bandwagon of the security of its people and has banned the flights from Pakistan as well.

3. Impact on Tourism:

Earlier this week, even as infections of the novel coronavirus seemed to be slowing, the impacts of the epidemic on the global tourism enterprise were stimulating rapidly.

But as diagnoses tick upward again, travel agents, operators, and hoteliers are bracing for at least months, if not a full year, of monetary disturbance from the outbreak, with long-term effects that may quiver well into 2021.

Furthermore, some 97 Pakistanis, comprising 40 students, arrived in capital Islamabad on Monday following the resumption of flight operations to the coronavirus-hit China, the officials announced.

Two flights of Qatar Airways, and China Southern Airlines, landed at Islamabad airport with a difference of a couple of hours on Monday morning, Zafar Mirza, the prime minister’s health affairs adviser substantiated on Twitter.

Owner Of ‘Sweettooth’ Is Making Protective Gears For Doctors Fighting Coronovirus!

Pakistani doctors, nurses and other medical staff who are the frontline soldiers in the ongoing war against the deadly coronavirus in the country, have been exposed to the virus threat because protective masks and body gear is not available for them.

A shortage resulted after the general public started panic buying masks when the number of people getting infected by COVID-19 escalated. Prices for these protective masks also increased exponentially. The doctors treating patients infected with Corona have been doing it with minimal protective gear and in some cases mishaps have occurred creating greater risks for them for coming in to work.

One Pakistani man decides to take matters into his own hand – Starts Mass Producing Masks and Protective Gear for Medical Community!

Amidst mask hoarders and people trying to take advantage of this critical situation by charging way more than the actual price, there comes in a good samaritan, Umer Hussain, who has taken it upon himself to make affordable protective gear for doctors, nurses and paramedics. It definitely was the need of the hour and kudos to him for taking up such a great initiative.

Instead of helping them in a monetary way or sending out food to thank them, Umer Hussain thought of acquiring masks and protective suits for the medical community however he came to know that they are being sold at very expensive rates and are scarce from the markets. What he did next was amazing!

Turning his living room into a make-shift factory, the owner of Sweettooth took it upon himself to mass-produce the protective gear needed by doctors and other medical staff. He explains his detailed plan in a Facebook post he shared. He says that the suit cost him only Rs.82 for the fabric and he believes he would be able to manufacture it in under Rs.100 only. Whereas, there are sellers charging Rs. 2500 for the same type of protective suits.

Umer has also asked people to provide numbers of tailors who would be able to assist him in getting this task done!

He has also asked people to help as much as possible for this noble cause.

Not only is he working towards this cause but he has also decided to send out rations to the people who need it the most during these troubling times by involving the society in this job as well.

Are Food Deliveries a Better Option than Supermarkets?

foodpanda

Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been declared as a global pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) which has crossed all geographical boundaries including Pakistan.

As a precautionary measure against the disease, the government of Sindh has put a complete lockdown in the province since March 23rd in order to help the citizens stay indoors.

With food delivery services being banned across the province, locals are going out to the supermarkets, which breaks the barrier of social distancing, making them highly prone to the novel virus.

Due to the lockdown, the streets are deserted, offices and restaurants shut, with only grocery stores open.

The issue has been raised on social media platforms by many, some are sharing videos and pictures of departmental stores and certain market places where a large number of people have gathered to buy goods since that is the only option available for them.

According to stats shared by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in the USA, social distancing is considered when a person remains out of congregate settings, avoids mass gatherings and maintains a distance of approximately 6 feet from others when possible, which unfortunately isn’t the case in enclosed mass gatherings.

In the UK a similar lockdown was enforced where strict procedures were implied, especially when it came to daily shopping for essentials and food. As a social distancing practice, locals have therefore shifted towards online deliveries at home, where the chance of being exposed to the virus is minimal.

With delivery platforms ensuring safety features involving frequent sanitization of the delivery person and the product, chances of COVID-19 are reduced – a similar concept can be easily adapted in Pakistan also.

Since before the lockdown in Sindh, delivery services like foodpanda, other international restaurant franchises, services such as Daraz, etc. trained their employees to follow health and safety protocols. foodpanda and Daraz had started Contact-less payments for customers to avoid human contact during COVID-19.

Brands like foodpanda Pakistan ensured the health and safety of everyone linked to them by distributing hand sanitizers to their heroes, monitoring their daily temperature and installing wash basins outside restaurants and rider hubs.

In addition to this, they also added new features to their app that allowed customers to purchase foodpanda Hygiene Kit and the option for contact-less Deliveries, something that China also incorporated to combat coronavirus.

With a sudden rise of 11 cases from March 24th to 26th  summing up the total to 421, large gatherings of people at marketplaces for food clearly indicate an increase in the risk of COVID-19.

Therefore, it would be wise to make a shift to licensed online delivery platforms available in Pakistan, all of which follow proper safety protocols. At a time like this, are food deliveries a better option than supermarkets is a question that everyone’s left wondering.

The practical approach would be to resume specific online delivery services rather than all.

A Pledge To Safeguard The Future Of Pakistan

According to National Nutritional 2018, “Every fourth child in Pakistan is suffering from Iron deficiency”. 7138 children aged between 6–9 months were included in the analysis. The prevalence of IDA was 33.2%. Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is common in Pakistani population and an important cause of morbidity. Iron deficiency is the result of an iron imbalance in the intestines, which lead to a weak immune system as children grow. Only if this prevalence rate was lower today our nation would have been able to fight the CoVid-19 pandemic with a stronger immune system.

These numbers are quite alarming and pose a threat to the future of Pakistan; because of the fact that a child’s brain is, developed 80% in the initial 2 years we cannot afford to ruin or disable their future, as they are the future of Pakistan. Hence declaring it as a national issue will enable us to safeguard the future of our children. Our very own Musician/Philanthropist Shehzad Roy agreed to the fact and urged people not to take the situation lightly and fight it with full force.

The symptoms are usually covered up by blaming the child for not listening in the class and eventually failing. Your child might not be at fault, because if your child is behaving in any of the 4 ways there is a probability that they are suffering from IDA: Lack of attention, Fatigue/ exhaustion, repeatedly becoming sick and Breathlessness. The worst part about being in such a situation is that a child cannot explain exactly how they are feeling and become victims of speculation and societal norms.

Because of the different contributing factors for the development of anemia in children, information on its prevalence, distribution and etiology is important for adopting appropriate measures for its prevention and control. In Pakistan, nutritional anemia has been recognized to be the most common type of malnutrition present in children. Its roots come back from 1977 when a micronutrient survey of Pakistan was held; about 38% of the population was identified to be anemic. According to the 1988 National Nutrition Survey of Pakistan, 65% of the children aged 7 – 60 months were found to be anemic.

In comparison with grown-up children, a growing child needs 3 times more nutrition than them to develop & grow as a healthy kid. As soon as children reach 6 months of age they should be given a healthy diet full of nutrients, vitamins & minerals; moreover, Iron should be the major part of their diet. A list of the iron-rich foods includes Eggs, Meat, Spinach and Iron-fortified products.

Pakistan Society of Food & Science Technologists (PSFST) has been working for this cause to create awareness in our society regarding iron deficiency and also joined hands with a social activist, humanitarian & talented singer Shehzad Roy to highlight this issue.
