While our hearts are swelling with pride over the news, Khan’s speech at the event the has impressed us even more!

The head turner owned the stage, as she talked about empowerment, failures and being powerful.

“Through the times of turbulence, through the joys, through the ups and downs, through the mistakes we make and all the success we get, let nobody… nobody’s opinion define who you are”

And she ended it with an epic message, proving she is meant to conquer the world

“And if anybody defines who you are, let it be yourself. Because including me and all the women out there, we’re all worth it!”

Her speech surely reflects the ordeal of last month, when Indian publications tried to shred her respect into pieces and gossip mongers started spinning tales to ruin her career.

Ironically, she was also wearing white- the color of innocence, purity, goodness, and honesty. It could not have been a better way to shut down her haters once and for all.

Everybody on social media has now gone gaga over the diva!

Trolls have now been forced into hiding, now that they now MK is undefeatable!

The babe is back and she is here to rule! More power to Mahira Khan.

New Toyota Vitz Hybrid to Replace Aqua!

The Toyota Vitz first made its appearance back in 2003 when importing cars was a rare deal. Also known as Toyota Yaris, it was one of the first cars to be imported in Pakistan.

Impressing drivers and passengers with its build quality, features, and look, the Yaris soon became a popular variant and was started to be seen all across the country in little time.

Aqua, another popular model by Toyota also known as Prius Jr. also did good work for the company in terms of sales and revenue.

According to a source, the vehicle will be available in 4 different variants, hybrid 1.5, Hybrid F2, Jewela2, U2, and Sports Package.

The car will be available in Barrel brown and Avant-Garde Bronze metallic, along with 17 other colors.

Reports also added that Apple has decided to invest in E% plant to speed up the whole process. Production is expected to kick-start after 2020.

Although Apple has a unique concept in mind, Samsung is already working on this technology with OLED display and has almost nailed their invention.

If the teamwork of LG and Apple works, the monopoly of Samsung in smartphone industry might just get challenged. Samsung is the only company that successfully rule the smartphone tech industry till now.

However, this unique lineup might just change everything for Apple if it manages to compete with Samsung while getting ahead in the game.

COMSATS Terminates Staggering Number of Staff!

Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) has strongly condemned the termination of 300 staff by COMSATS University.  The educational institute has made a huge cut in the number of employees that includes faculty, admin staff, contractual and daily wage workers.

The termination of these employees has resulted in a public outcry. The FAPUASA has mentioned that some of the workers have been working at COMSATS for a long-term period of 13 years.

What is worse is the staff has been fired without following the proper termination procedure as reported by the employee union.

The Institute is part of the public sector but is being run as a private property of the management in charge. The association, FAPUASA has demanded Comsats to re-hire all the employees and declare the terminations void as soon as possible.

The employee union, FAPUASA has also requested the President, Prime Minister and the Minister for Science and Technology to take legal action against the administration of the university for the unfair treatment of its staff.

We have yet to see what action is taken by the authorities to rectify the mistake made by the institute.

However, its only for a limited time!

A-level Students to Face Tough Time for MBBS, BDS Admissions

According to new regulations of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), MBBS and BDS students will face a tough time for admission to MBBS and BDS program.

The news has come out as a major shocker for medical students hailing from the A-level background.

Federal minister Saira Afzal Tarrar chaired the meeting of the PMDC and declared that Pakistani A-level students would not be able to get admissions against foreign seats to any private medical college.

Local students can still apply on merit basis. They will have to face a tougher competition from HSC students.

Foreign students will have a higher chance of getting admission in Pakistani Medical University

According to the regulations:

“No candidate shall be eligible for foreign quota seats in public and private medical and dental institutions under sub-regulation (1) and (2) unless he holds a permanent foreign nationality or dual nationality or overseas Pakistani students and who have physically studied and passed secondary certificate (SSC) and HSSC passing 12th grade examination or equivalent from outside Pakistan during his stay abroad and having a certificate from the institution last attended to this effect”

A PMDC official told media:

“Out of the 41,677 students who had applied for admission to private medical and dental institutions in 2013-14, 7.2 per cent – or 2,981 — fell under the non-FSc qualification category.”

“In 2014-15, this ratio dropped to 6.7pc, in 2016 the new PMDC regulations inflicted a major dent to the futures of A-level students by imposing a complete ban on their applications.”

The admission test of MBBS and BDS are all set to be held this month. But this situation has caused a major frustration for the A-level students.

Telenor Pakistan May Face a Hefty Fine By CCP!

The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has recently taken action against companies involved in forms of deceptive marketing. It has now issued a Show Cause Notice to Telenor Pakistan for prima facie violating Section 10 of the Competition Act 2010 by deceptively marketing its 4G services.

According to report by Daily Times, CCP can fine Telenor with Rs 75 million just in case the telecom operator fails to satisfy the Commission against the show cause notice.

A CCP official reported:

“if the undertaking in question fails to satisfy the Commission, section 38 of the competition law empowers imposition of penalty through an order passed on the completion of enquiry process”

Earlier, CCP received a formal complaint against Telenor by ZONG Pakistan claiming that Telenor’s 4G marketing campaign was wrong where they mention “Telenor 4G services are absolutely free”. Telecom company, Zong also mentioned that Telenor’s claim of “4G services available across Pakistan”

Competitor company, Zong also added that the far-fetched claims by Telenor are misleading customers and harming the business of its competitors.

After the official complaint, the CCP looked into the matter and found out that Telenor is only offering the first 100 MBs of data free of cost. After the free data is used, customers are then charged for the additional usage.

For the second claim of availability of 4G services across Pakistan, the CCP’s inquiry report states that the 4G services are found in 7 cities that includes, Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Islamabad, Quetta, Peshawar, and Multan. The claim was further misleading as the internet services were only available in certain spots throughout the 7 cities.

However, in response, Telenor Pakistan has responded to the action taken by the CCP.

Here’s what they have to say:

Telenor Pakistan is an ethical and law-abiding corporate entity and carries out its operations in accordance with law and conducts all business activities responsibly.

We always strive to maintain clear communication with our valued customers and ensure that there is no ambiguity as far as our package plans or pricing is concerned.

The 4G campaign in question was launched in 2016 and we clarified in our communication that internet usage is free for first 100MBs.

Also, our claim regarding the reach of our 4G services in certain cities was specified and intended to mark the availability of services in those cities without specifically claiming blanket coverage in any number of locations or cities.

The said campaign is already over. We are contesting the matter before CCP.

Telenor Pakistan strives to bring the benefits of internet to the people of Pakistan and to give access to quality content under our Internet For All ambition and we are fully committed towards the fulfillment of our ambition through aggressive network expansion, one of the fastest growing 4G footprint and introduction of digital products and services to cater to the needs of the masses.

After Zong’s complaint, we wonder if this is going to stir up another brand war. Let’s wait and watch what Telenor Pakistan’s next move will be.
