The doe-eyed Pakistani beauty, Ainny Jaffri is all set to make her comeback with the upcoming drama serial ‘Sila’ on HUM TV- the actress will be returning to our TV screens after a post-marriage hiatus. Also featuring the multi-talented Farhan Saeed, the drama sure looks promising!

Featuring the lovable couple of Farhan (Taimoor) and Ainny (Marium), the play showcases the story of two medical students who fall in love and get married, only to regret it later on.

Sila touches upon the social stigma of how a man (husband) gets intimidated by his wife’s fame and success.

How to Combat Lahore Smog That is Being Caused By India?

As you all must know by now, an intense fog has engulfed Lahore, affecting breathing and visibility, forcing the residents of Lahore to stay at home. However, the fog is man-made, a mixture of smoke & fog, created by pollution and other man-made elements. The smog is highly toxic and can be extremely harmful to the lungs, eyes and the nose.

However, as reported by NASA, the toxic smog that has submerged Lahore and parts of Punjab, may not necessarily be a by-product of pollution rather India, the perpetual rival may be playing a vital role in it.

A forecast by NASA highlights that increased levels of “fire and thermal irregularities” in Pakistan occur due to massive amounts of toxic haze coming to Pakistani Punjab from Indian Punjab, exposing millions of human lives at risk.

An unknown fact that was speculated by several experts before is that the smog, that was considered to be industrial gases, and vehicle emissions, actually originates from India.

A report was compiled that pointed how the pollutants erupted from burning of 30 billion kgs (32 million tons) of leftover straw by the Indian farmers.

Delhi was submerged in thick smog, impairing visibility- the levels of air quality index reached shocking levels across the city.

Fireworks during Diwali celebrations have also been cited as one of the major reasons for triggering smog, releasing toxic pollutants in the air at the beginning of winter.

As per the images published by NASA, burning of crops and straw in the nearby states of Punjab, India and Haryana could be one of the key factors causing air pollution.

How Does a Smog Occur?

National climate change expert, Dr. Qamar uz Zaman Chaudhry and former Director General of Pakistan Meteorological Department also believed that the main cause of the pollutants in the atmosphere is Eastern Punjab. All the coal-based industries are based in Eastern Punjab, across the border.

Motorways in Lahore have been blocked and flights have been delayed or canceled. Fog-related accidents all across Punjab have been reported.

According to Director General of the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Dr. Ghulam Rasool forecasted that the situation is going to aggravate and last till December since it hasn’t rained in central Punjab since October.

“Unfortunately, in Pakistan, we lack the equipment for real-time monitoring of air quality,” he stated while talking to DP Global.

Over the past years, a thick smog descends in Lahore every December. However, the situation has aggravated over the past 5 years owing to poor quality of air and increasing pollution. Deforestation and rapid industrialization are one of the vital causes. What is more, Lahore is now one of the most polluted cities in Asia, reports Pro Pakistani.

How to Combat Smog in Lahore & other Parts of Punjab?

Following are the tips and guidelines to follow if you reside in Lahore or any adjoining areas:

Make sure to keep your windows shut at all times be it at work, in car or at home to ensure no smog gets inside an enclosed area.
It is preferable to stay indoors until the smog dissipates
Minimize your exposure to smog by avoiding congested areas and traffic jams. Bikers and vehicle owners are advised to take routes that have the least traffic obstructions.
For asthma and chronic pulmonary disease patients, it is advised to have your inhaler on you at all times.
During smog, the ground level contains a higher amount of ozone and therefore increased physical activity may result in irregular breathing patterns.

We last saw Aiza Khan in Urdu1’s Tum Kon Piya. Now the starlet is returning with yet another drama, Shehernaaz which will unveil her in a never- seen- before avatar!

As opposed to playing the damsel in distress, the bubbly beauty will be seen as a strong headed woman, with an iron will and a dream to shine as a well- renowned actress.

Khan’s husband along with Hassan Zia has taken the task of producing the drama while Hoor Shamaeel is the writer. Syed Ahmed Kamran is the director of the serial.

Storyline

Sajid Hasan (Naseeb Gul), who plays the role of Aiza’s father is a tailor working for a high-end fashion designer. Shahnaz, played by Ayeza Khan feels that her father does not get the credit he deserves and dreams of ensuring he has his own brand one day.

And therein lies the true charm of the first episode; the special bond that Shahnaz has with her father. She is his dream and Naseeb Gul is her strength and the steady hand of guidance. It will surely be interesting to see how this sweet relationship unfolds as the drama catches pace.

To hide her poor social status, Shahnaz lies to her friends about her upbringing, and having certain other luxuries. She prefers to be called Shehernaz over Shahnaaz as she feels that the latter is not an appropriate name for a heroine.

As for the male lead, we got to see Farhan Malhi take on the role of “Sherry” and his role till now is a bit predictable. Sherry’s character did not produce the same appeal as that of Ayeza Khan’s, Sajid Hasan’s or even Mehmood Akhtar’s. But if the trailers were any indication, we will get to see Sherry take on a much more dominant role in the drama soon.

Review

Overall, the drama was well-balanced and structured since all of the actors got their due share of screen time. Therefore, it is no surprise that the first episode turned out to be a well-executed introductory episode.

As the episode progressed, we get to know and somewhat admire each and every character that is introduced. It struck as an interesting venture, especially since the relationships between the characters were fresh and interesting. The actors were well molded into their roles and there was no inconsistency.

While Pakistani serials are full of Cinderella heroines, Shahnaaz will not rely on a prince charming to rescue her. Aiza Khan did a wonderful job with her energetic character in the drama and will continue to wow us in the upcoming episodes.

Pakistan is Most Affordable Country for Telecom and Internet Services

According to the Global Information Technology Report (GITR) 2016, Pakistan has been ranked as no.1 for the most affordable market throughout the world for providing ICT services. The report claims “Pakistan is the market with the lowest price points” measuring at an index of 139 global markets.

Although Pakistan did rank top for affordability and has seen an 2% increase in its overall rank, it still needs to improve on many other factors including ‘Political and Regulatory Environment’, ‘Skills’ and ‘Infrastructure’. Overall, the country ranked 123rs globally for all indicators and individual usage.

The report was compiled on the basis of affordability indicators, including price and usage, the following are the indicators that were also considered in the GITR:

French Automaker Renault to Enter Pakistan in 2018 to Assemble New Vehicles

The multinational French automaker, Renault, will start assembling vehicles in Pakistan in 2018, according to Board of Investment (BOI). This statement was made by the board on Thursday, November 3, as results of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar’s hard work to bring in international manufacturers to the local industry.

“Renault has decided to invest in Pakistan. They will start assembling cars in Pakistan by 2018,” BoI statement claimed, adding that the development was the outcome of the “hectic efforts and persuasion” by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.“During Eidul Azha holidays, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Dr. Miftah Ismail, chairman BoI, visited France and met the top leadership of Renault,” it added.

Miftah Ismail, Chairman BoI added that the company will be investing around $100 million to expand Ghandara plant’s capacity, as it will be where Renault is planning to assemble its vehicles in the near future. For some time now, Pakistan’s automotive industry has been facing a long-term struggle in being successful in bringing an international brand to the local markets, despite being on demand.

Renault’s Duster can be available to the interested drivers for just Rs. 2.5 million, which is a huge jack in the price as it is even more affordable than the price of 1500cc Japanese cars. The french automaker will be looking forward to bringing 1200cc vehicles, majorly focusing on the needs of middle-upper class individuals.

Punjab Schools to Declare Holidays Due to Toxic Smog?

While the lethal smog has taken over the land of Punjab, the government of the province is considering to shut down schools. The rising cases of health issues and road accidents have prompted the authorities to think regarding the matter.

A press conference was held on Thursday in which the advisor to CM on Health Salman Rafiq revealed that Punjab government may soon announce the short-term closure of educational institute to save children from the toxic smog.

“This situation is going to last until the end of December, as it hasn’t rained in the central Punjab since October,” said Dr. Ghulam Rasool, Director General of the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

What is more, doctors and health specialists have warned the patients of asthma to take measures to prevent themselves from the side-effects of smog.

In last 24 hours, the smog in Punjab has led to 610 road crashes taking the lives of 20 people and leaving 506 injured.

The data released by Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service reveals that 286 drivers, 16 underage drivers, 100 pedestrians and 371 passengers have suffered in these road accidents.

While speaking to Dawn Images, Shaista Lodhi revealed that she had been approached for dramas earlier as well but due to extra responsibilities and workload she could not fulfill the promise made to her. However, this time around, the morning show host had taken a break from her usual shows and therefore, gave drama serials a shot.

The drama serial Khwaab Nagar has been directed Syed Atif Hussain and will showcase Shaista in the lead role.

Her debut TV serial Khwaab Nagar is scheduled to go on the air somewhere in October/November 2016.

This was not an easy decision to make for the gorgeous style diva. “There were so many questions crossing my mind at the time I accepted the offer: Will I be able to do it? Will I be able to do justice to it? Will I be successful in delivering the way my director and producer want me to?” said Shaista.

She was definitely a bit nervous because of the success she has received through morning shows and feared if it’s going to be the same.

“I was not nervous, but yes, a little confused, because of the questions crossing my mind and the success I achieved in the hosting field and whether it’ll be the same or not. Will people judge me and compare whether I’m a better host or actor. But I’ve done it and let’s see how people will react.”

The morning show famed celebrity is ready to make a leap towards dramas but will not leave working in dramas.

This will be Shahista’s first project onto the small screen- she will only take up more ventures if she receives good feedback from the one she has already signed.

“Let me just focus on acting right now, [busy with this drama] I don’t want to accept any other offer from any other productions house for the time being.”

At this point of time, she just concerned if the fans will accept her as an actor. She has been in the morning show arena for the past 9 years and it might be difficult for them to transition.

After Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, Gensler’s Shanghai Tower has taken second place as the world’s largest skyscraper by information specialist Emporis in its annual skyscraper awards.

After six years of development, the Shanghai Tower finally reached completion earlier in January this year. Manufactured by Gensler, an international firm, who invested US$2.4 billion in this project, it exceeds at 632 m.

However, its most fascinating feature seems to its impeccable design that twists at 120 degrees from bottom to top which is supposed to mimic wind-like effects, molding the tower.

China’s Upcoming Tallest “Phoenix Towers” To Save Ecology

Consisting of 128 floors and spreading over a land of 420,000 sqm, it is located in the Lujiazui Financial Center in Shanghai. It features 106 high-tech Mitsubishi elevators which help in transporting passengers through its many levels at an astonishing speed of 40 mph.

As of now, the building holds many offices, retail spaces, a hotel, and includes an observation area of the breathtaking view of the city from the rooftop.

Due to the buildings curvy structure, it has been noted that the project was finished under the set budget with $58 million to spare.

How to Check, Drain & Refill Gearbox Oil

A gear box contains moving parts, when two moving metals are in contact, friction is caused, and wear and tear occurs. Lubricants are designed to prevent this damaged caused by the metals in contact.

Just like the engine oil, the gear oil must be able to withstand high temperatures. In some gearbox oils, “extreme pressure” additives are added, which act as solid lubricants when temperatures reach above ordinary oil limits.

Generally, the level of gearbox oil should not drop noticeably between routine gearbox oil changes. It is a good practice to get the gearbox oil changed after about 50,000 km. Make sure the car stands on level ground when checking the gearbox oil level.

Pak Suzuki: ‘Will Not Launch Any New Model in the Next Two Years’

Most cars have a filler plug (nut) on the side of the gearbox which acts as oil level indicators, though, some cars have a gearbox dipstick. If you notice that the level of oil has dropped significantly, check for leakage.

The dipstick has marks on it which indicate the upper and lower oil levels. To check the level of gearbox oil, remove he dipstick, wipe it clean, place it back in and remove again to read the oil level. If the oil level is low, refer to the owner’s manual and top it up with the appropriate grade of oil. Do not overfill the gearbox oil.

Draining The Gear Oil:

Make sure the car has been standing for a few hours to make sure the gear oil has settled to the bottom. Make sure the car is on levelled ground. Jack the car up and place axle stands at the front and rear of the car for support. Lie underneath the gearbox and you will notice a screw drain the gearbox oil.

To unscrew the drain, you will need an open spanner, an Allen key or a square ended key, depending on the type of car. You may also need to remove the front tyre of the car as well. Before unscrewing the drain, place a container underneath so that the gear oil doesn’t spill.

Refill The Gear Oil:

Once the drain nut is unscrewed completely, the oil will begin to drain. You will need to unscrew the filler plug (nut) in order to allow air to pass and make the oil drain properly. In cars like Toyota Corolla, the filler/level plug (nut) of the gearbox can be unscrewed from underneath of the cat. In some cars, the oil filler plug (nut) can also be used as an oil level indicator. Some gearbox have baffle plates hence you will need to unscrew two drain plugs.

Pak Suzuki Replace Suzuki Mehran with 660cc Suzuki Alto

After the oil is drained, you will need to screw the drain nut back tightly. You can the place a funnel to ensure the new gear oil you are about to put doesn’t spill. Gently pour the new gearbox oil through the filler plug (nut) area.

Tightly screw back the filler plug (nut) and wipe the area clean. Make sure you refer to the Owner’s manual for the proper grade of the gearbox oil. You can always order car accessories and different grades of engine and gear oil at online auto stores like the PakWheels Auto Shop.

Make sure there are no leaks. Leaks are usually found in round damaged gaskets, damaged oil seals or sealing washers. A leak at the filler plug (nut) or drain plug (nut) is probably due to a damaged sealing washer. Fitting a new one should cure the leak.

After making sure there are no leaks and tightening the drain nut and filler plug (nut), gently jack down the car. Drive around for a while and you should feel the gears go soft.

Pakistani Singer Humaira Arshad & Ahmed Butt Reunite!

Famous Pakistani singer Humaira Arshad and husband Ahmed Butt, who have recently been in the news for their divorce rumours, have decided to set their differences aside, and will now be living together.

The couple was to hold a press conference in Lahore sometime soon to officially make the announcement of their separation. Humaira was not present to make any comment, however, their family stated that the couple’s reunion was not a surprise to them.

“I must accept Humaira back for the sake of my son, he was suffering the most because of our separation,” Butt told The Express Tribune. “We have decided not to fight to keep him happy. It’s always the parents who have to make sacrifices for their children, right? Humaira and I are together again and hope to remain so for the rest of our lives.”

“We have been seeing this drama for many years now, ever since these two got married. We knew they will come back together this time too,” said a family member.

It was reported that Pakistani singer Humaira Arshad had received her first divorce from Ahmed Butt with mutual consent after several years of misunderstandings and some serious allegations. The buzz was that the songstress has achieved temporary custody of the son till September 23rd.

This is not going to be Humaira Arshad and Ahmed Butt’s first press conference. Rumours about the two being divorced and fighting custody cases have been making rounds in the media for a long time. Humaira also complained about being subjected to torture for more than 12 years.

Earlier, the husband, Ahmed Butt had the custody of their son but Humaira took to court to fight for the child’s custody, as reported Express Tribune. She claimed that Butt had taken away their son by force.

Humaira told Express Tribune, “Ahmad Butt tortured me in front of people, snatched my money, and kidnapped my child and as a result I had no other choice but to make marriage a public affair.

The couple got married back in 2004- Humaira is a popular singer while Ahmed Butt was a former actor and model. The singer will receive the other two divorces in the upcoming days.

Previously, Humaira had gone to the family court asking for a divorce from her husband. She had also filed a case seeking separation from Ahmed Butt.

ARY Digital ‘Besharam’ Drama Last Episode: Saba Qamar & Zahid Ahmed’s On-Screen Chemistry Stole the Show!

The highly anticipated last episode of ARY digital drama ‘Besharam’ aired Tuesday and it was totally intriguing than ever. Starring the gorgeous Saba Qamar and the very talented Zahid Ahmed, the controversial drama series boldly highlighted the cultural and social stereotypes of the glamor industry and the struggles faced by an upper-class family in a conservative society of Pakistan.

The drama has attracted the masses and has managed to reap very high ratings for the channel. The last episode aired Tuesday, 2nd November and left the audiences in love with the show.

Saba Qamar, (Mishal) led a lavish lifestyle until she fell for a social worker and aspiring politician named Haider belonging to a very middle-class lifestyle. Her soaring modeling career creates problems for the couple and Haider’s family is very reluctant to fully accept Mishal.

Despite the conflicts, the two decide to give their marriage a chance, however, the cliched mindset of the male gender does not allow Haider to fully accept her wife the way she is.

Mishal leaves her established modeling career but is taunted and mocked by her in-laws every now and then. The 2nd last episode of the drama showed an intense conflict between Mishal and Haider and the fans were anxious to find out what their fate had in store for them.

Besharam Last Episode Review

1. Sara’s Change of Heart

The last episode of Besharam finally gave us the moment we have all been waiting for “The much awaited Sara’s (Atiqa Odho) Change of Heart”. It was satisfying to see Sara’s conversation with Mishi, confessing to her mistakes and declaring how her children taught her the value of the relationship.

In a very serious and ‘unlike Sara’ conversation, she admits to her mistakes and the reason behind her three failed marriages. She tells her daughter Mishi to compromise and accept Haider with all his flaws and shortcomings since he is the ‘ONE’.

2. Haider Learns the Truth

Finally, the underlying truth about Asfand Sultan was revealed to Haider! He confessed how through unlawful ways, he became a successful and powerful politician.

Being an outsider, Asfand Sultan does not realize the power of Haider & Mishi’s relationship. However, Haider made it pretty clear to Asfand how wrong he has been and how much his wife, Mishi means to him. He eventually leaves his party and chooses the right path!

3. Mishi & Haider’s Fairy-Tale Ending

Mishi reluctantly accepts a modeling offer but Haider drags her from the sets and brings her back into his life. Mishi realizes that she cannot fall back on her old, modeling career and Haider reached the conclusion that his life is nothing without Mishi.

The last scene was emotional and tugs at your heart strings! Despite all the conflicts that their relationship has encountered, the two managed to find their way back to each other.

Drifting off into the sunset on a motorbike? Best last scene of a drama ever.

Verdict

All thanks to the writer, the script was written beautifully and the direction was on-point! All the actors in the drama did a wonderful job while the beautiful OST will remain etched in your memory for a long time.

The overall credit of the show’s success can be easily credited to Saba Qamar & Zahid Ahmed’s chemistry on-screen that forced the audiences to tune into the show every week. Even though the show has ended, it taught us a great lesson about relationships and gave us some wonderful moments to cherish.

Huma Adnan gave us not one, but two reasons to adore her collection! Naveen Waqar looked totally ethereal in a red & gold FnkAsia apparel by Huma Adnan, leaving quite and impact while Hania Amir’s presence lit up the show!

FnkAsia introduced a novel, romantic glamour with their latest bridal collection titled ‘Midnight Garden’.

The rising, uber gorgeous starlet, Sumbul Iqbal adorned the ramp with her presence- stunning in a silver and gold attire by HEM, the ‘girl next door’ looked like a diva!

HEM by Sumbul Asif’s latest collection Golden Cage, showcased the use of local crafts with an experimental twist comprising of neutral shades for an ethereal feel.

7. Mohib Mirza for Arsalan Iqbal

The handsome and charming hunk, Mohib looked like a total stud in Arsalan Iqbal’s all-black sherwani.

The menswear collection ‘Baroque Star’ (‘Ba-Rock Star) by The House of Arsalan Iqbal was inspired by the grandeur of the 16th century Baroque painting and architecture.

The Mann Mayal stars, Goher & Ayesha were a true vision in Natasha Kamal’s white & gold bridal wear collection. Trotting the ramp and gleaming with joy over the applause, the adorable duo melted our hearts away!

Natasha Kamal’s AW16 Couture collection reinterpreted and modernized time-treasured classics. This season Natasha Kamal placed great emphasis on structure and symmetry with soft tailored silhouettes and voluminous skirts.

9. Ayeza Khan for Deepak Parwani

There is no doubt that the Shehrnaaz starlet, Ayeza Khan is everyone’s favorite! Admired by all, the gorgeous diva walked for Deepak Perwani on FPW2016 Day 2 and charmed the audiences with her magic. Donning a gold lehenga, Ayeza Khan’s bridal avatar was a true vision for the eyes.

The house of Deepak Perwani presented ISHQ that ook inspiration from the infinite and transformative force of love, which makes one go beyond oneself. The collection took us from the infinite array of colors to the everlasting radiance of gold.

10. Sarwat Gillani & Fahad Mirza for Nauman Arfeen “Rind’ana’ Collection

For the first time ever, the pretty couple of Sarwat and Fahad graced the ramp in any fashion show! The looked every inch regal and royal in Nauman Arfeen, complimenting one another in red and gold.

11. Mukhtaran Mai for Rozina Munib

Breaking the norm this time around, Rozina Munib roped in the gang rape survivor Mukhtaran Mai to walk the ramp.

12. Neelum Munir for Saira Rizwan”‘Banaras’ Collection

The rising starlet, Neelum Munir looked like a vision in red as she flaunted Saira Rizwan’s Banaras Bridal Collection. She totally slayed it on the runaway and made the whole crowd go wow!

13. Mawra Hocane for Republic Womenswear” Mon Tresor” Collection

The little Hocane stole the show on day 3 of the fashion gala. Showstopping for Republic Womenswear, she sparkled in silver as she showcased the bridal collection “Mon Tresor”.

Wedding bells are ringing for the young Indian girl Purvi Thacker. However, it won’t be the most special day of her life without her bestie from Pakistan,Sarah Munir.

Apparently, Munir applied for a visa to attend the wedding of her best friend from across the border, Purvi. But due to the increased tensions between the two countries, her visa was denied!

Saddened by this news, both best friends have taken to social media to appeal for Munir’s case.

So my Indian visa to attend @purvi21's wedding was rejected. Accepting all help, prayers and good vibes now.
