Based on Dennis Lehane’s 2003 novel, Shutter Island, Martin Scorsese’s thriller starring our all-time favourite Leonardo DiCaprio, was a great hit back in 2010.

According to Hollywood, Scorsese, in collaboration with HBO and Paramount is set to direct a spin-off of the movie.

Shutter Island is a 1950s-set mystery-thriller that revolves around a US Marshall investigating the mysterious disappearance of a patient at Boston’s Shutter Island Ashecliffe Hospital, which is a centre for criminals with mental disorders.

The serial will be a prequel to the movie, as it will showcase the hidden secrets of the hospital before the events at the island took place as shown in the movie.

The screenplay is supposed to be written by Lehane. Ashecliffe could be Scorsese’s first small screen project since Boardwalk Empire for which he was the executive producer and the director for the pilot episode.

Let’s hope the television serial is as exciting as the movie. Hint Hint: Leonardo!
