FBI and Apple are engrossed in investigating the hacking of a cloud data service that released a torrent of intimate celebrity pictures across the Internet.

Nameless posters on online message boards bragged about having exposed images of female superstars including Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence, singer Victoria Justice, Avril Lavigne, Hayden Panettiere, United States soccer star Hope Solo and top model Kate Upton.

Reports are suggesting that hackers had ragged personal pictures from Apple’s iCloud online data storage, which is extremely humiliating and has caused immense damage to Apple.

Apart from the experts representing Apple, the FBI has also joined the hunt and is busy investigating the incident. The FBI is aware of the charges regarding computer invasions and illegal release of images that are the property of high profile individuals, mostly celebrities.

Upton’s lawyer, Lawrence Shore, have given a statement that they intend to chase anyone distributing or copying these images with full force.

In the midst of this mishap, Twitter has been playing its part since Sunday; it has suspended accounts involved in publicizing these images. However, actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead has confirmed that most of personal images were leaked and she earnestly condemns it.

As far as Apple is concerned; Apple has found and fixed the loophole, as per the reports. Although the recovery was done way after the news was spread in the hacker community, perhaps allowing crooks to access personal online data.

Whereas other speculations are that the pictures could have been collected from multiple sources and there was no security breach from iCloud.

This scandal has also posed a PR challenge to tech companies, who are associated with online storage like iCloud, DropBox or GoogleDrive as a safe refuge for users’ private data.
