Have you ever had those days when you looked like a zombie straight out of ‘The Walking Dead’?

If you are shaking your head, you’re probably in denial because let’s be real, between college, work and an insane schedule we don’t have enough time for an actual beauty sleep, which results in the dreaded dark circles.

Here are 7 ways you can look lively and get rid of those pesky dark circles once and for all!

1. Water is Your Skin’s Best Friend

Ever heard the term, a hydrated skin is a happy skin? Well, time to take it literally. Water frees the skin and body from toxins thereby reducing the amount of salt concentration in and around the eye area.

If you’ve been eating salty food lately, chances are you will wake up in the morning with puffy eyes. Around 6 to 8 glasses of water keep you good for the day.

2. A Healthy Balanced Diet

If you think what you eat doesn’t come out on your skin then you are dead wrong. The healthiness of the skin is actually very much linked to the kind of diet you take. Cutting out junk food is step one. They are often laden with preservatives which could give you sallow skin and dark circles.

Including vegetable and fruits like oranges, lemon, kiwis, and melons in your diet that is rich in vitamin C, will bring your skin to life.

3. Catch Enough Z’s

With our busy schedule, we often overlook our sleeping pattern. Randomly dosing off when you have time just doesn’t cut it. Sleep is actually very important for your body to boost blood flow to the skin while you snooze, which means you wake up to a healthy glow.

Not getting enough sleep results in poor water balance, leading to puffy bags under your eyes and under-eye circles, as well as dryness and more visible wrinkles.

4. Put Down That Cigarette!

Seriously though, not to be the moral police or anything but cigarette does do some serious damage to your skin. Smoking chronically deprives your skin not just of oxygen but nutrients, too.

Cigarette smoke contains carbon monoxide, which displaces the oxygen in your skin, and nicotine, which reduces blood flow, leaving skin dry and discolored.

5. One word; Moisturize

Apply a hydrating moisturizer within 2 minutes of leaving the bath or shower. The skin is still porous and is vulnerable to products that are applied following the bath or shower, allowing better absorption.

6. Cold Tea Bags

A simple home remedy is using a cold tea bag. Soak a tea bag (preferably a green tea bag) in water. Keep it in the refrigerator for a while. Place the chilled tea bag over your eyes.

7. Smear Food on Your Face

By food, we don’t mean pizza or fries. There are some foods like cucumber and potato, with which you can cover your eyes and relax. They are excellent solutions for getting rid of dark circles as they have skin-lightening properties.

Also, juices of veggies like a tomato can help a lot. Apply a teaspoon of juice under your eyes; let it remain for 10 minutes and wash it off with cold water. You could also make DIY face masks from avocado or bananas.
