The year 2015 is coming to an end and while we are reviewing all the amazing things that happened this year, we simply cannot ignore heart-wrenching events too. In 2015, a total of 110 journalists were killed all over the globe, reports RSF.

Out of these 110 journalists, 67 were killed on duty; whereas, other 43 lost their lives in unknown and unclear circumstances. It is also reported that besides these 110 professional journalists, some 27 citizen journalists also became the victim of ruthless violence against journalists.

Besides the brutal act of murdering journalists, there have been many cases of kidnapping and taking them hostage. A total of 54 journalists were held hostage in 2015.

In a detailed report released by RSF, not only the numbers of journalists who have been killed are highlighted, but it also brings into fore some of the reasons behind this deliberate action against journalists.

According to the report, one of the main reasons behind this horrific killing of journalists can be the presence of militants and non-state groups in a country. This report by RSF also declares deadliest countries for journalists. Iraq, Syria and France are the top three countries where most journalists were killed in 2015.
